This place has a good restaurant and dining setting. Very friendly staff. I typically avoided it because I assumed it was just a bar. It's more than than that, definitely recommend

Pretty solid food in a nice little area of St. Paul,MN. Bar definitely feels like it's a place that people in the surrounding area come to hang out. Wings are huge for size and decently priced. A basket of fries is more than enough for four people. Cheese curds were good but like any fried food. You have to eat them quickly before they get cold. Definitely would go back with a group of friends to grab beers and eat the food or

I’m not sure how this is rated so high… the yelp and apple reviews are much more accurate. If you are drunker than you’ve ever been in your life and this is the only place open in a 20 mile radius, come here. However, if you like food, do not order it here. We tried the tacos and cheese curds, and we took one bite and the rest went to waste. We would have sent it back (which we have never ever done), but we had already paid. The drinks are fine, but it’s hard to mess up tap beer. Nevertheless, the happy hour deals are weaker than a lot of other places. Instead, save your money and go literally anywhere else. I would recommend pizza Lucé which is just down the road.

It gets worse and worse. We go there every St. Patrick's day for 18 years (barring the last 2 Covid years). We have 20 to 50 people always. This year it was beautiful outside but no service on the patio at all. The servers are rarely friendly and never remember us. It's a shame because most of us were or are life long bartenders and server and good tippers! They used to light the beautiful fire place, have servers, open the bar outside and they were friendly. We have fun, but we don't cause problems ie, fight, get falling down drunk, get belligerent, get excessively loud, bother other guests. Nothing to discourage them from wanting our money! An Irish pub on St. Paddy's seemed like the perfect place to be, but they seem to prefer peace and quiet. Time to find a new place. ☘️☘️☘️

Have been going here a few times a month for quite some time and have always enjoyed the outdoor patio, food, and service overall. Last night I decided to bring my team in for cocktails and food after work (we were a group of 7) we wanted to be on the patio but very full we spotted 3 tables near each other that hadn't been cleaned yet, we attempted to assist with clean up and move some chairs around, we rudely told it was a hazard, I explained to the young waitress that there was probably a better more accommodating way she could have assisted us- her response was its busy....Terrible customer service. We then were seated inside and a more experienced waitress assisted us (I thought things were looking up) but we waited and waited for drinks and our food order to be taken- all of this could have been easily brushed off as you could easily see just how busy they were but there were two other tables (yes smaller groups) That came in after us and they ordered, ate, and paid and left all before we did which is insane. It will be a while (if at all) before I spend my money here.

Pretty dope local spot with a nice menu and drink selection. They also got some big ol wings…get em fried hard or crispy and tell ‘em to make sure they covered in sauce. Plus they have different specials all throughout the week…would def go again!

Well.. I used to live by this bar and pass by it everyday. Wanted to try it and I did tonight. Oofda, the atmosphere was as expected for a 5pm on a Saturday. However the waitress paid no attention to details and I totally understood cause they were busy. (Tip was 20%, because I’ve been there in the service industry.) However aside from service, the $12 cheese curds were inedible and the (thankfully just under $2 a piece) tacos were again, hardly edible. I will not be returning for food. Maybe for a beer after a hard day, IF it’s on the way, and between 3-6pm for happy hour , AND I’m craving only a summit draft.. for $5.25? I’m sorry, but I can’t recommend and won’t be returning. Quite disappointed….

Charming place, especially the lovely and funky back courtyard! Nice craft beer list with mostly local options. I particularly liked the Fair State Part Forward hazy IPA. Parking lot in back connected to courtyard. Enjoy! Cheers!

Great experience overall. Nice patio space on a perfect evening to be outside. Lovely atmosphere. Drink and food prices are very reasonable. One of my kids had the gyro and devoured the whole thing. The wings are HUGE and tasty, crispy exterior, flavorful, tender inside. The chicken fingers were a hit with my youngest. I had the French dip which was disappointing in its presentation (looked like Carl Buddig "meat" unfolded from the package and out on the bun) but the overall flavor was there, came with a large and flavorful Caesar salad.

Would give it 3.5 if I could. It’s a classic neighborhood pub. Food isn’t gourmet, but it’s decent. Quality of food and service varies— sometimes it’s great, other times it’s poor. It’s a good place to gather with friends because theres something for everyone. You go for the atmosphere (it has a great outdoor seating area), generous drink pours, and daily drink specials.

It was an afternoon surprise to stop at a saloon in the middle of the week! I tried a new beer on tap, which was delicious. Their appetizer tacos were good and spicy. The staff wore masks, were friendly and courteous. Will definitely return soon!!

We love Sweeney's dog friendly patio. They have a great/ affordable brunch menu and heated patio for cooler weather. We've had Mia as our server twice now and both times she made our experience wonderful. She was friendly, funny, hard-working, and super fast service despite being busy. Thanks to Mia and Sweeneys! One of our favorite spots in St. Paul.

Had to choose between the gyro and Reuben. Got the gyro on server's rec and it was one of the best I've had in a long time. Beautiful weather for the patio,I will definitely be back

happy hour 3-6 has $4.50 summits and $1.50 tacos!! I laughed when the bill came out. Food was delicious and their patio is awesome, we brought our dog and she loved it too.

I recommend the Diablo burger. Super yum. House made chips are excellent as well. Ample selection of tap beers and daily drink specials. Dive bar vibe.

My partner and I love this place, get some fries and hot sauce on a Thursday night for $5 margaritas. Don't be afraid to spice up your drink with some tapatio!

Best neighborhood bar around. The staff is all great and while it's a bar for regulars, everyone has a great time at Sweeney's. The chicken tenders and whatever the Poor Man Special is are can't miss.

The service was great! I like the beer choices. Surprised to find the burger that I ordered wasn't up to their standards. In the past the burgers have been 5-star. Maybe the cook was having an off day.

The patio is epic! It was a cool late summer night when was there and kinda rainy. Which gave this cool jungle feel with the trees growing in the middle of the patio. The tequila shots were also good and big! But maybe it was because we were celebrating a friend's wedding.

Friendly service, cold beer, and expertly fried wings! Took a chance on the mango habanero sauce. No regrets! Definitely worth many return visits!

Delicious food, drinks made with a generous pour, plus excellent service at the table or at either of their two bars. Sweeney's Saloon is a destination must for couples or groups who want to enjoy a fun, memorable time that's also easy on the wallet! Highest recommendation! Respecfully, Rich and Vickie Erickson.🌹

Neighborhood joint with a nice vibe, reasonable prices and impressive variety and a great patio. There is always a good vibe and everyone seems happy and relaxed. The food is at least edible, if not something to write home about and its a good place to catch up with old friends.

This is a fun place and I'm looking forward to trying it again. My boyfriend ordered wings and they looked great and were huge. We shared some cheese curds which were pretty mediocre. I had the buffalo chicken wrap. We each ordered a beer. I would have given it 5 stars but I was very annoyed that my buffalo chicken wrap came loaded with a bunch of diced onion. Onion was not mentioned on the menu. I don't understand places that list every ingredient except one. I hate onions and sent it back and requested a new one. From the menu: Buffalo Chicken Wrap11.99 Breaded buffalo chicken, lettuce, tomato and bleu cheese wrapped up and ready to go! This is a huge pet peeve of mine. Either list everything or nothing and I can ask. It was very good once I got one without onion.

5 stars for sweeneys! Love this place. Even through the ownership change and new menu, we come back. Moved out of St. Paul a few months ago and we still try to come as often as possible. Only 4/5 stars for food now BECAUSE we want the birria back!!!! It was soooo good and soooo missed. Also the boneless wings back too! (You should update the online menu)
