Poor service. I am a Globalist member with Hyatt. My train was delayed by 4 hours. I asked to store 1 suitcase and backpack with the hotel. The front desk attendant said that storage was only for guests of the hotel. In the past I've never had issues with a hotel storing bags for a few hours after checkout. 5 minutes later I stored the bags with a DoubleTree down the street, where I didn't even stay or have membership status. A shameful display, Hyatt.

Overall, our stay was nice and pleasant. The room was immaculately clean, and the towels and bed linens were refreshingly fresh. The hotel boasts a lovely swimming pool and a well-equipped gym. There are plenty of comfortable armchairs and sofas in the lobby and on various floors for relaxation. In the mornings, complimentary breakfast was provided for all guests. It was a standard yet quite comprehensive breakfast with a good variety. Each day, we had the choice of omelettes, potatoes, waffles, and sausages. There was also a selection of bread or bagels, various juices, coffee or tea, as well as fruit and yogurt. However, to our disappointment, there were no vegetables available, and the opportunity to make a salad was absent. In terms of the staff, the majority were polite and attentive, providing excellent service. However, there was one employee who appeared to lack patience. Her mannerism suggested that she was growing weary of politely repeating information to all guests. When we inquired about the pool, her response was somewhat brusque, saying, 'I provided a sheet with all the information; you can read it there! Everything is written there!' It's worth noting that the hotel offers a valet service at a cost of $29, but we opted to use the hotel's parking lot, which was conveniently located in front of the property. In summary, our overall experience was nice and pleasant.

This is a wonderful and fun hotel. All the staff we interacted with were very friendly - some of the best hospitality I’ve experienced in a while. I loved the historical aspect of this place. They did a fantastic job of integrating modern amenities with the original styling of the building. I’ve never stayed in a room with such tall ceilings! Breakfast was also slightly better than your average hotel fare. My only complaints are that it was near impossible to open and close the curtains which didn’t feel clean (a rod to pull them would be nice but maybe impossible to find since they’re so long), there was a crack in the curtains since I couldn’t pull them all the way to the wall, and the toilet was fussy (had to “recharge” the handle every so often). They had offered to switch our room but it seemed to work fine again until the morning so we didn’t bother. Valet parking is $28/night. There are also other options around if you’d like to cut costs. We opted for the valet since the garage was very secure and we wanted to keep a couple of belongings in the car. This hotel is in the heart of downtown. We had never been to St. Paul and found walking to dinner after sunset a little uncomfortable. There were also some characters outside the hotel. I noticed people would loiter outside to try and gain access. But once we were in the hotel itself we felt safe and unworried.

I would have given 5 stars, but the breakfast was a bit disappointing. The property is beautiful and clean, and the room was spectacular. The breakfast, while generously laid out was lacking flavor, heat, variety, and the milk was room temperature. No waffles, no sausage, no biscuits and gravy, and I'm not sure what the bacon was made of. Given the impressive and beautiful decor and high end feel of the hotel, the breakfast should at least be as impressive.

The breakfast was really good for complimentary breakfast. The location was perfect. The room was comfortable. The small pool was a no go for us. They gave us out of date information about the housekeeping service (post-covid) and cleaned when we did not want it. The windows go probably 20 feet high in the rooms. There's a big crack of light along the side close to the bed. Nice people there. Very friendly.

We never intended to find ourselves stranded in St. Paul (we were supposed to fly from Cancun to Vancouver), however due to a series of snow storms, blizzards, and ice storms, we ended up stranded in St. Paul for 8 days. We originally chose this hotel because of its proximity to the train station (we planned on taking the Empire Builder Amtrak from St Paul to Seattle). Sadly, our train was cancelled, but I am so glad we found this hotel. We ended up staying for six days, including over Christmas, far from family and friends. But we thoroughly enjoyed the hotel. The hotel is in a historic building from the 1920s, originally built as a post office and to house various federal agencies. The wide hallways, old office doors, and historical touches throughout the hotel give you a sense of having traveled back in time. The lobby is expansive and beautiful with ample, comfortable seating throughout. The 20-foot+ ceilings with windows give the lobby a sense of freshness and air even on the cold, dark winter days. We spent hours each day curled up on various couches reading books and sipping coffee or hot chocolate. The room was huge with incredibly high ceilings and windows, a generous bathroom, and loads of channels to scroll through on the TV. The location is in the heart of downtown St. Paul so various food delivery companies have dozens of restaurants just minutes away. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We loved the small pool and swam every day, as well as the gym which has various cardio equipment featuring screens that take you on trails throughout the world (I lost myself in small town Germany, the Alps, and New Zealand each day on the treadmill and bike). The guest laundry was very helpful since we had few things with us. The breakfast each morning is pretty standard (the French toast, waffles, and potatoes will leave you wanting - they aren't the best) but it has a big enough selection most will find something yummy to start their day. The small snack area could use a little updating, too, but all in all, we loved our stay here. The wifi was stable, fast, and consistent throughout the hotel, the random seating areas (like the huge one on the 5th floor) make for comfy places to read or chat if you need to get out of your room, and we will absolutely stay here again if we ever find ourselves back in St. Paul.

What a cool hotel. Historic, almost an icon of St Paul. Room was large with a high ceiling. Lots of space to move around, large bathroom. Well lit. Very pleasant staff. Close to St Paul airport, reasonable distance to MSP.

So .., the room is magnificent, big and spacious and huge window, comfortable bed, right next door to Union Station (Amtrak) and walkable to downtown, lots of restaurants within short inexpensive Uber drives (too cold to walk this weekend)….. ok that said their breakfast sucks!! Lumpy oatmeal, eggs that look whipped and white, cold bread, don’t come for the free breakfast, it starts at 7 goes until 10a, I got there about 845a. Really sucked.

Great hotel in a cool historic building. The rooms are HUGE! The internet was out for the first couple of days we were there so they have us goody bags to apologize, which was a nice gesture.

Giant room with updated furniture. Wonderful customer service. Breakfast offered much the same as other hotels of the same caliber but with better presentation and atmosphere. I was on 5th floor and my window faced a half wall. The window was so talk that the light wasn't affected but no view. For this reason I wish I could give 4.5.

The hotel building itself is lovely, as are the staff. The hotel management company, Hyatt Regency Hotels, however, is among the worst I have ever dealt with. I have absolutely no complaints about a single person that I talked to while I stayed in this hotel, and while I was dealing with the corporation everybody that I talked to in person at the hotel did their jobs admirably. The woman at the front desk deserves a raise. Now, the hotel wasn't full. It wasn't terribly close to full, either. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to extend my stay. For whatever reason, Hyatt Regency Hotels is strongly opposed to this. It took several hours on the phone the night before and a few hours on the phone once I got to the hotel, along with several conversations with the(very patient) front desk employees. Whilst I did get it worked out, I ended up having to book yet another reservation. It's just a completely asinine and infuriating system. Kafka would be proud.

Very impressive hotel! Refurbished perfectly. Lots of space and very talk ceilings making g it feel even more roomy. Great free breakfast spread. Stayed for easy access to the German Christmas Market, was not disappointed.

This is an absolutely beautiful hotel. It was definitely worth the stay. We stayed in an accessible room. I used my forearm crutches most of the time but in the chair everything was in reach for wheelers. The room was beautiful and spacious so there was plenty of room for maneuvering in the chair and on crutches. There was a major accessibility issue we ran into here though- the front doors are locked (this is good security) so you have to buzz to get access. The problem is the buzzer is really far from the handicap button. The person on the other end of the intercom at the buzzer unlocks the door - then you have to make it to the handicap button to press it before the door locks again. It wasn't possible. There was no one at the desk when we arrived so we waited in the cold for quite some time before someone made it to the intercom to answer, then we went back and forth trying to get the door open via the button. Finally we wrestled bags and wheelchair manually through the door. Not an easy thing to do and not a great first impression. On check out, they lost the matching valet slip to our car so a 10 minute wait turned into an uncomfortable 45 minute wait. The hotel is beautiful but the service really needs work. I won't stay again but I won't dissuade others if they want to see what's been done to the old post office.

This hotel hits all the marks. A friendly staff. Extreme attention to cleanliness. Good breakfast. A few minutes walk from beautiful Union DepoT and the Green Line. Plus it’s a secure building entry. It’s a repurposed building so it was built in a time when America cared about construction, unlike the cheap housing pens of today. So it was totally quiet, enabling a restful sleep. It was cool to stay in a room with huge windows and cathedral like ceiling. I highly recommend this hotel.

Favorite hotel in St. Paul. Made me feel famous staying in a room with such elegance and high ceilings. Breakfast is great, Staff was always so nice. The history behind the building was so cool. They should really look into getting a hottub at least though. Otherwise, my stay was great! Actually on my way to go stay there again right now for a couple days while my stepdaughter is shopping for her wedding dress! So excited!

Great renovation of a historic building (old post office). The room we had was huge!! It was a two queen with a pull-out sofa like most Hyatt Places, but there was tons of usable space, a nice sized eating table, big bathroom and huge ceilings. The window sill even doubled as a reading nook for our 9-year old. Breakfast was pretty standard by Hyatt Place, but there's always plenty and it's fresh (except whatever they called bacon looked and tasted like shoe leather). Service was good. Small pool and nice gym on 3rd floor too. Location is good and a few block walk to the St. Paul Farmer's Market which was excellent on Saturday morning.

This is a terrific place to stay in St. Paul, the rooms are spacious and very clean, the breakfast has great options, the location is perfect. The pool is only 3' 6" inches deep and cold. Don't pay for parking because there is a public ramp directly across from hotel, I gave four stars for service because they automatically assume you used valet parking which we didn't, I called immediately and it was removed

I travel a lot on business, and this hotel was a wonderful surprise. I often feel claustrophobic in small hotel rooms, but the rooms at this hotel are remarkably large, with 20 foot ceilings and enough floor space that other hotels might call the rooms suites. The furnishings and the lobby are very nice, and the free breakfast is quite good. There is only a shower -- no tub -- in the bathroom, but that is the only negative that I can think of. It has all the other common amenities. I rate this hotel very highly.

My first time here, and I was very pleased. I tend to look for three things when I go stay at a hotel, and they are water pressure, climate control and internet. The internet is pretty stable, water pressure is great, and the room is nice and clean. I have never seen the size of these curtains in my life at any hotel so this was kind of neat. The service was great and the breakfast was pretty good as well.

This place is a gem! I enjoyed it so much that I want to return with my family. Lovely building, room and city! The breakfast was solid for a healthy eater and gym has up to date equipment. I highly encourage you to stay at the Hyatt Place in St. Paul.

Gorgeous building and beautifully decorated/remodeled into a hotel and apartments. Historic building - old post office. First five floors are the hotel. Decor incorporates part of the old building. Tall walls. Good shower/shower pressure. Easy key card entry. Lounge area in rooms very nice. Lounge areas and bar of hotel are nice. Plenty of meeting areas. Ample breakfast space. However, very disappointed that they didn’t leave water dispensers, or even pitchers out for guests. They told me I could buy water at the bar. But, when I asked the white guests where they got their water, they told me they just gave it to them, no charge. I honestly felt like I was dismissed and treated poorly by two staff members. No sugar substitutes (had to ask) only Truvia or real sugar. Coffee was undrinkable (to me) — too bitter. I like the breakfast, while my partner did not. Again, beautiful space, but I’ll never stay there again. I’ll go where my business feels appreciated.

My friends and I stayed here the night of a concert - perfect walking distance to Palace Theater. Brenda helped us with our check in process, and answered any questions we had. She was incredibly helpful and kind, and made our experience that much better. The room was clean, breakfast was good, and we enjoyed our stay!

The room was beautiful with its super high ceiling, big windows and long flowing sheers. The room and bathroom were big. It is some what confusing in that part of the building is apartments and the other part is the Hilton. Parking on the west side of the building is for tenants and those staying at the hotel need either to use valet or street parking. Valet parking is at the front of the building on Kellogg. There is lots of comfy areas on the main level to sit and visit but the complimentary coffee gets taken away at noonish. The train station is maybe a 2 block walk. There is a nice restaurant there. The science museum is within walking distance. There is a park and the river nearby.

I'm really enjoying my stay here. The first time in the St. Paul area. This hotel is downtown and near all the action! Within walking distance or a short drive of restaurants and shows (I went to the History Theater last night). Eric at the front desk has been such a gracious host. He helped me with check-in and getting a room with a cool city view. Plus, I forgot a brush, and he gave me a little comb that actually has been working well. The shampoo/conditioner/body wash is high quality; my hair and skin feel soft. The bed/sheets/pillows are amazing and just the right softness! I slept so well! The hot breakfast was delicious and served early (I came down at 7 a.m.). My room feels like a studio apartment because it has a couch and a bed. Plus, with the high ceilings, it makes it even more spacious. I love the art deco theme inside and how the decor is a mix of modern design while keeping true to the old post office that was here before. It's really fun to stay in a piece of history that was an old, repurposed building.

We took the Amtrak and arrived close to midnight, but they were there to serve us 24 hours a day. Being just across the street from Union Depot was a big plus. Our kids spent hours in the pool. The staff was always responsive to our needs, whatever we asked. Breakfast was yummy. Hot eggs, sausage, potatoes and waffles or french toast

Chic and refined hotel. Were able to check in very early. The room was clean, well-appointed, fancy, with all finishing touches. The beds were comfortable. Really impressed with this place. Best value in St. Paul!

First let's begin with this converted 1930s post office. The original metal work and super high ceilings make each room feel larger than life. Remodeling left intact some of the original doors and details. My "basic" room included a comfy sitting area with couch and coffee table. The bathroom was larger than most new construction. Hats off to the front desk concierge who checked me in the night of july 19th! Oh, and the room provided a near perfect silent sleep! Pardon my poor photo skills!

Beautiful rooms this should be listed as a 4 or 5 star hotel. Not a 3! Rooms are gorgeous!! One complaint only. Hotel does not serve coffee to is guests!!! Really????, only with the free breakfast. I asked and their answer was.. well they're is a coffee pot on the room. Yes BUT. NO Liquid creamer, just one single packet of generic powder creamer. Ugh! There should be coffee available 24 hrs a day as with the other 3 hotels we stayed in during this vacation. People love their coffee!!

love the high ceilings. location was close to united hospital and was convenient for my family of 8. breakfast and coffee was so so. Garage Parking was semi tedious. you'd have to call each time to get in, have someone let you up and down to garage each time. however the service to do so was great and workers were great.

This review is specifically for individuals considering this hotel for out of town guests during a wedding. We chose the Hyatt as ‘the hotel’ for guests because of its proximity and cool interior. They had large spaces that allowed for guests to gather on various floors. I, however, would not recommend using this hotel for an event or longer stay. We realized later that there were better hotels which were priced lower for what they offered. The logistics prior were not easy, and we did not experience positive communication with a few members of the staff. Additionally, their parking situation is a big nightmare when it comes to “ease” because an individual operates the door, so first you must call a number then wait for someone to come and physically let you into the elevator. Needless to say, you don’t want to accidentally forget anything in your car. I have stayed there before for a night, with no event and it was pleasant, but for an event like a wedding it doesn't seem as well suited.

Lovely hotel - the rooms were fantastic! Loved the high ceilings and the size of the rooms in general. One note: parking area is a little confusing. If you are parking - use the door that states Hyatt valet parking. The other parking garage in the hotel is not for Hyatt guests.

  • 5/5 R L. 2 years ago on Google
The staffs fantastic and spot on helpful. The rooms are huge and well appointed. My room must of had at least a 15 foot ceiling. The rest room and showers have more than ample space to do your business. Only draw back was its location downtown. Not much around there. Rent a car or bike if you stay there.. But I will be staying there again.

We stayed one night and the room and service were great. I was surprised at how tall the ceilings were and the building had quiet of bit of historical nature to it. We got stuck with an interior room so it was good as the room could provide as our only views were of the interior building. The only downside (and likely the result of it being in St. Paul) was the parking. When coming down it seemed like there was on site parking with unlimited parking but the only thing they had was valet so that felt a bit deceitful but that could be my fault for reading. The plus side is the parking ramp across the street was only $5 for our overnight.

  • 5/5 Buck M. 1 year ago on Google
Aside from finding the right entrance to access the parking, this place is delightful. It's the old post office, and the renovation into a hotel kept some architectural elements intact. Like 20' high ceilings in the room, 10' wide hallways and brass elevator doors, replete with post office iconography. Very comfortable, very modern, but still personable. Staff was very friendly and still professional. Yes, I would stay here again.
