A lovely place. Great are to Paddleboard, ride a bike or do any activity involving outdoors and water. Perhaps baptising your next child? There are very long bicycle lanes along the canal, on both sides, which you can take and enjoy the view.

Fun place to visit while learning about the fascinating locks system found in Quebec's waterways. Pick up an ice cream and sit by the locks for a spectacular view!

We took the bike path from Chambly to St-Jean-sur-Richelieu (20 km, linear) all along the canal. The path is mostly well-maintained, alternating between gravel and asphalt, mostly flat. There were a few rest stops and picnic areas along the way.

Great scenery, with a bike path beside it, and locks operated by hand (no electricity) as it was when it was built in the 1800's. Near the North end, in Chambly, is historic Fort Chambly.

We have used the canals on multiple trips, but this one was frustrating. The lock service prioritized another vessel that was not ready to go for 1 1/2 hours after the locks opened. Not a good experience and has significantly delayed our group in getting back across the border in time.

Rode down to the fort and the lake via the bike path from Montreal. Beautiful ride, great trail and the fort area itself is quite picturesque. Lots of cute cafes and restaurants too. Highly recommended.

This bike ride has to be one of my fave experiences in my life. It's an easy route, flat and frequently shaded, with the canal on one side and the St. Lawrence River on the other. Such a privilege to enjoy!

Amazing place. I would recommend it for everyone to visit. Lot's of nice views to enjoy like the castle, the river, the little falls as well as the very ancient houses. There's also bridge in which you can have a seat there and enjoy the seen. In overall, it's really nice place.

I was pleasantly surprised and interesting about this system of locks, which works the same as the Panama Canal, here it is for small vessels and there they are for very large ships and passenger and cargo ships, but it works the same.

If you've seen a canal lock, you've pretty well seen them all. Did Canal de Midi in France and was impressed (the Bezier locks are worth the trip). But, to see the bridge at this canal make way for incoming or outgoing boats is as unique as it is impressive.

A 20 kilometers canal with a bicycle/walkable path . 9 hand operated locks allow recreational vessels to navigate from the Saint Lawrence River to Champlain Lake.
