At the beginning of the 20th century, Edouard Hannon, a painter, photographer, and engineer, requested his friend Jules Brunfaut to construct an art-nouveau-style mansion. After only two years of construction, Hotel Hannon came into existence. Unfortunately, after being used as a private residence for 60 years, the space got abandoned. Nevertheless, in 1976 the municipality of Sint-Gillis bought the building, renovated it completely, and opened reopened it in 1988 as the Museum of Photography for the French-speaking community. Unfortunately, when the museum closed, one could only visit the building during the BANAD Festival. However, the good news is on its way. In February 2022, Hotel Hannon will reopen its doors for the broader public as the Hannon museum, where the original furniture and decorations will be re-installed.

Almost impossible to visit and if you manage to, it's ridiculously expensive and photography is forbidden.

Overall, it is a beautiful house, but the renovation looks somewhat unfinished in some places. You only get to visit half the building: ground, and first floor, the top floor(s?) and cellar are not open to visitors. At 12 euros per person, it's expensive. Maison Horta is much better!

Very beautiful house with wonderful glasses. The accesible spaces are, however, very limited, and in my opinion, it's not worth the price of the ticket.

Loved it and well worth the visit! Best to buy an art nouveau pass (which also gets you access to Horta, Solvay, Autrique etc.)

Lovely house and great staff. Although renovations are not entirely done, and sad we could not visit the cellar and the attics. For the cellar they could even make a small place to have a coffee, like the Escher house in Den Haag. They could also do some works in the garden, by putting art nouveau style benches and decorations. I don't understand the lighting choices, I am sure they can find a specialist to realise art nouveau lighting also fitting the demands of exhibition lighting. It seems "year 2023 of art nouveau in Brussels" pushed to be open when there is clearly some more work to do. But overall a nice experience.

Visite du chantier ce dimanche 22 janvier. Quelle beauté et quelle chance d'avoir eu une guide passionnée que nous n'avons pas eu le temps de remercier assez.... Bravo

One for those with a love of Art Nouveau architecture and design, others may find it disappointing. A beautiful house that is gradually being restored. However, our experience of the team who were overseeing the running of the house was not so good - condescending, superior, an inflated sense of importance...... just not very warm or welcoming.

The house is really gorgeous but the price is a bit steep as there's not a lot to see.

It is a beautiful Art Nouveau building. It is very small but I have lost track of time there. This place is still in restoration, when you are there it might be much more beautiful than when I was there.

Seems to have lost a lot of its grandeur of yore...

Careful! This review is exclusively about the service not the visit. We arrive at 17:25 and they didn’t let us make the visit, even though it closes at 18:00. It does not say anywhere that last entrance is at 17:20… At the entrance they told us last entry was at 17:20. After making the trip to exclusively visit this house we weren’t able to make it because of the woman standing at the entrance… She told us at the entrance that in weekends is better to book in advance, soy please if you read this review do book previously to make sure you Can enter. It does not say anywhere to book in advance. I still haven’t been able to visit the house, once I do I will edit this review.

Well worth a visit if the Horta museum is fully booked. No online reservation necessary but it is advisable to do so in case it gets busy
