I loved walking through seeing both the French and English architecture. I liked that they kept the names and year it was built on each home.

The old town was very charming. Liked the topography, the stairs, the building architecture, shopping windows, the solo player and singer, the street scene, the patios, enjoyed a cup of green tea at leisure at the foot of the Breakneck Stairs, while watching people going up/down the stairs at easy or with efforts.

A great location for exploring Lower Town. Lots of landmarks and attractions to see which makes it for a good photo op! Shops are also abundant in this place, whether it’d be a coffee shop, ice cream shop or a restaurant, this place has them!

Great piece of Quebec history. Wonderful old church - sadly not open to the public. Some stunning original properties and shops of interest plus a magnificent mural just off the square depicting Quebec historical figures. Well worth a visit.

There was almost no crowd when I went so I was able to sit down and rest a while in peace. Loved the architecture and the cobblestone streets. Also the harp musician is awesome, he is so talented. There was another musician (guitar) on the opposite side of the square. There is a free public bathroom by where the harp guy is. I wish I could go inside the church and see the interiors but it looked like it was closed. 도깨비 출연하신 하프아저씨 아직도 계시네요 ㅎㅎ 무료 공용화장실 있어요! Date of visit oct 14, 2021

We started dreaming about this place soon after we booked our hotel in Quebec city. Heard a lot about the cobblestone roads and those colorful patios serving up exotic French dishes. Our drive took us via the river for a considerable period of time and we were mesmerized by the beauty. This is old Quebec city and has all the beautiful sights to see. You need to see things personally to understand and experience the beauty. I'm out of words to describe the feeling we had when we got there - all of us were going crazy taking in the sights. Plenty of paid parking around and that won't be an issue. It was so colorful and tastefully decorated and immaculately maintained. When the nights come on at night it's another sight to behold. There is no mistaking the French contributions They have boat rides too at certain times and you can take in the spectacular view from the water. I have not seen anything more beautiful than this place and you can spend a whole day or 2 roaming around and having fun. Go through my pictures and you will believe everything I mentioned. DONT FORGET TO VISIT THIS PLACE IF YOU ARE IN QUEBEC CITY. PERIOD!!!

Place Royale is just like the old-fashioned movies with buildings that combine French and British influences in North America. Lovely shops and restaurants, and unfortunately, the church is only open on weekends. Also, there is an incredible artwork To see it, you have to stand in the right place so you can see it by completing the lines.

We stayed here over the New Years Eve weekend. The first room we were put in was 319. We could hardly get the bus boy cart in it. The room was very small with a slow working tiny toilet. We asked for another room because we were to be there for 3 nights. They gave us the one beside it 318, much more space, even though the attendant didn't seem to agree. We were quite happy with this room over our stay. The bed was amazing, along with the pillows. Great little hotel, with great parking. The restaurant was quite good too, although a little pricey as we had the NYE planned meal at 150$ per head. We would stay again for the ease of access and location to old Quebec. Thanks

Place Royale is where Samuel de Champlain founded the City of Québec in 1608. With buildings that combine French and British influences in North America, the square has a charm all its own. This is the precise location where Samuel de Champlain built the first permanent French settlement in the Americas. Erected in 1608, his first abitation was a fort, store, trading post, and residence all rolled into one. That’s why Place Royal is considered the cradle of French North America. The varied architecture reflects the successive periods of French and British colonization. A few steel and glass structures reflect current 21st century trends. The perfectly restored houses that surround Place Royale have become restaurants with patios and stores that sell souvenirs, crafts, and more.

A truly lovely little square that is just off from Quartier Petit Champlain. Definitely a must see. There was also the Museum of Bad Art when I visited which was free entry and quite entertaining.

A quaint and beautiful town square whose architecture and character will make you feel like you are in Europe. It is simply a good place to walk around, relax, and take in the stone buildings, the flowers, and the Notre-Dame-des-Victoires church. Best of all, it is just a few minutes' walk from the restaurants and stores of Petit-Champlain.

This place is magnificent during the winter season. We have been coming here for two winters back to back just to spent the new years Eve. The disco party was pretty awesome. Definitely take a ferry ride which is really close to the center. Also, if you really wanna witness a true winter, go to Saguneay.

Very disappointing. What was supposed to be the most important landmark in the whole city, has been completely ruined a large wooden patio deck and restaurants playing BRITISH music! Not to mention a couple of jerks who thought the front of the church would be a great place to park their large pick-up trucks! The Lower City in general was a bit of a tourist trap, except for the Royal Battery. The Upper City is far better!

So lively and unique. Place Royale is the spot where, in 1608, Samuel de Champlain built what became the first permanent French settlement in North America. It’s still an amazing meeting point for cultural activities, it’s definitely worth a visit when in town. I was there right before Halloween and there was a band playing, all kids were in costume, very beautiful to watch!

Place Royale in Old Quebec is an absolute treasure for history buffs and anyone looking to immerse themselves in the rich heritage of this beautiful city. The cobblestone square, surrounded by centuries-old buildings, exudes an unmistakable charm that instantly transports you back in time. The centerpiece of the square is the stunning Église Notre-Dame-des-Victoires, a picturesque church that stands as a testament to the city's enduring legacy. Exploring the intricate details of the church's facade is a must. Wandering around Place Royale, you'll find boutique shops, art galleries, and quaint cafes that offer a delightful blend of contemporary and historic ambiance. Sampling local treats and crafts while taking in the views is a highlight of any visit. The nearby Musée de la Place Royale provides a deeper dive into the area's history, with engaging exhibits and insights into the lives of those who once called this place home. Overall, Place Royale is a place where history comes alive, and every corner tells a story. It's a must-visit destination that captures the essence of Old Quebec, and I can't recommend it enough

Beautiful square with restaurants and shops surrounding it plus a lovely old church built on the spot of Champlain’s previous trading lost. So much history. Be sure to read the plaques.

My favorite part of Old Quebec City. It's also not too huge in size, so it's a great meetup spot if you're travelling in a group!

This is oldest town in Quebec and perhaps in north America, this is where all started with the new France 🇫🇷. You can see and smell history in every corner.

A must see if you're already in the old city. The square is full of historic buildings that are gorgeous. There are all sorts of shops and restaurants here, as well as the Museum of Bad art, which is free. Lots to see and do here, even if it's just to walk around and enjoy the atmosphere.

The square was large and spacious. The Christmas tree and the statue were a nice touch. No events going on during my stop, but hearing some stories in my audio tour, I have some appreciation for this space.

What's more to say about this spot. One of the most historic places in Canada , absolutely beautiful spot and where I got married. Go in early spring , late fall or on the coldest days to avoid the crowds.
