Fitness
First
Saket
is
marketed
as
one
of
the
best
gyms
in
the
country.
Upon
looking
at
its
membership
rates,
one
would
expect
it
to
be
the
case.
While
it
has
several
positive
aspects,
currently
the
negative
ones
far
outweigh
them,
the
biggest
of
these
being
the
extent
of
overcrowding.
To
make
matters
worse,
management
being
set
in
its
ways
stubbornly
refuses
to
address
the
issue
despite
there
being
a
simple
solution
available
to
them.
Pros
1.
Robust
group
class
schedule:
You'll
be
hard-pressed
to
find
a
gym
in
Delhi
with
a
better
group
class
schedule.
The
quality
of
instructors,
as
well
as
the
number
and
variety
of
classes,
are
impressive.
From
yoga
to
spinning
(cycling)
to
dance
to
TRX
to
HIIT,
there
is
plenty
of
choice
and
there
are
classes
all
through
the
morning
and
evening
hours.
2.
Variety
of
machines:
There
is
a
diverse
selection
of
strength
and
cardio
machines
and
a
high
number
of
the
latter.
One
rarely
has
to
wait
to
use
cardio
machines.
3.
Superior
trainers:
All
the
personal
trainers,
especially
the
ones
who
have
been
transferred
to
this
gym
recently,
are
by
and
large
superior
to
those
one
finds
elsewhere.
4.
Courteous
front
desk
staff:
Most
employees
at
reception
are
warm
and
friendly.
Cons
1.
Overcrowding:
While
most
gyms
tend
to
be
crowded
during
peak
hours,
the
extent
of
overcrowding
here
is
unprecedented
at
the
moment.
The
other
day
I
couldn’t
so
much
as
place
a
mat
on
the
gym
floor
as
there
was
no
space
left,
which
is
astounding
considering
that
the
gym
is
advertised
as
having
20,000
square
feet!
If
you’re
wondering
if
mine
has
been
an
exceptional
experience,
most
members
who
are
on
the
gym
floor
during
peak
hours
these
days
will
share
similar
stories.
There
is
also
a
shortage
of
benches
despite
there
being
ample
space
for
more,
making
it
difficult
to
do
many
common
exercises.
2.
Late
opening
time:
The
name
of
the
gym
is
Fitness
First,
suggesting
that
fitness
is
their
highest
priority.
Yet,
it
opens
as
late
as
6:30
AM.
The
majority
of
gyms
in
this
country
open
well
before
that,
usually
at
5:30
AM.
The
previous
issue
is
exacerbated
largely
due
to
the
late
opening
time
because
there
is
a
sizeable
number
of
members
who
prefer
to
start
their
workout
at
5:30
AM
and
finish
before
morning
peak
hours
begin.
It
would
almost
certainly
solve
the
issue
of
overcrowding
in
the
morning
on
its
own
by
distributing
the
crowd
across
the
morning
hours,
yet
management
obstinately
refuses
to
open
at
that
time,
presumably
because
it
has
been
this
way
from
the
beginning.
This
obstinacy
was
on
full
display
last
week
when
members
who
arrived
a
few
minutes
before
6:30
AM
weren't
even
allowed
to
enter
the
gym
and
wait
at
reception
but
were
made
to
stand
outside
near
the
lift
with
the
main
door
locked
despite
the
gym
being
almost
ready
inside.
Instead
of
opening
their
mind
to
sensible
changes
in
timings,
management
chose
to
adopt
a
hard
stance
by
being
needlessly
disrespectful
to
their
members.
That
tells
you
a
lot
about
how
entrenched
they
are
in
their
resistance
to
improvement
as
well
as
their
sheer
apathy
towards
the
concerns
of
their
members.
3.
Gym
etiquette(or
lack
thereof):
Locating
a
dumbbell
is
often
an
expedition
unto
itself.
I
recently
spent
more
than
five
minutes
searching
for
two
15lbs
dumbbells.
My
efforts
were
partially
rewarded
as
I
finally
found
one!
This
is
largely
due
to
many
members
lacking
gym
etiquette.
Quite
a
few
don't
re-rack
dumbbells
or
unload
plates
from
barbells
or
remove
mats
from
the
floor
after
using
them.
Many
more
are
oblivious
to
the
purpose
of
plyometric
boxes
and
similar
equipment
like
workout
tires,
as
is
evidenced
by
their
nonchalant
placement
of
phones
and
bottles
on
these
equipment
as
though
they’re
stands.
4.
Dingy
atmosphere:
The
main
weight
training
area
as
well
as
the
functional
equipment
area
are
located
in
parts
of
the
gym
that
are
dingy.
These
sections
of
the
gym
feel
more
like
a
dark
alley
than
a
training
space.
It
doesn't
help
that
the
weight
mentioned
on
some
of
the
dumbbells
has
faded
to
the
extent
that
reading
it
makes
one
feel
as
though
one
is
taking
a
vision
test.
