🫤 Had to wait more than an hour for food. Pizza base was raw! Fish dishes were perfectly acceptable, but I would not recommend this restaurant if good service and good food are things you value. For the price I think you could stay in a better place. The rooms are old, although you can see it's been "upgraded" with a coat of paint. The view is without a doubt 5 stars but I guess at R1950 a night that's what you're paying for. The mattress is old and lumpy, as are the pillows. Towels are basic thin hotel towels. The restaurant was not cleaned by breakfast time and staff are still cleaning around you while eating your breakfast. Ashtrays were over full and not cleaned from the time I arrived after 4 (they were already full when I arrived) until I left at 8.30 the next day. Breakfast was ok but the toast is fried in oil and very oily, food was cold by the time it arrived. I'd rather look for another place to stay at this price. I travel a lot and usually stay in better places for far cheaper.

Do not stay here. I arrived after check in time and my room was still not ready. A staff member frequently borrowed my TV remote to use for next door couple. WiFi is low quality. Breakfast: you are only allowed to choose from four meals. You have to pay extra if you want another meal. They give you ONE cup of filter coffee. If you want more, you have to pay. They don’t replenish the coffee in your room - nor the bathroom toiletries. The bath is extremely uncomfortable. There is no way to comfortably sit in it. ONE cup of coffee was honestly the most shocking service I’ve ever received at an hotel. Paternoster is a beautiful place. Go stay at The Dunes. Best place. Pity I couldn’t find a booking.

What a lovely town. Been there 15years ago. A huge upgrade. Lots to do, with interresting shops and restaurants. Breathtaking views. Very, very busy peak days. Go early for breakfast and book at restaurants. Beautiful long stretch beaches.

We took my dad to Paternoster Lodge for his 78th birthday. We waited about an hour for the food and I had to track down our waiter, who couldn't give me a good reason as to why it was taking so long (or why she was so unconcerned about our late food). When the food finally arrived, the calamari was cold and the whole dish was too salty (my wife hardly ate). Didn't feel like a special experience for my dad at all. There were also really smell bins standing in front of the venue in the parking bay! Paternoster Lodge, do better next time.

We visited there in December and decided to go have lunch a little later to avoid the rush. We arrived after 15h00. We were told we will have to wait for our for anything between 45min to an hour. We thought that is ok, we are on holiday. The restaurant was not so busy so this was puzzling. I even got up to order another bottle of wine as no-one came to check on us. Eventually after an hour I got up again and asked when our food will be ready. It arrive 20 minutes later! Not much to rave about, a piece of fish and chips took almost an hour and half to prepare?! And it was really that good. I have eaten better at Kleinsee and they are not even as rigged as Paternoster for the festive season! I was very disappointed. I gave two stars, as the place looked fairly clean and the view was beautiful.

This lodge and restaurant has all the potential to be one of the top class facilities in Paternoster. We were pleasantly surprised by the friendliness of restaurant staff. They were helpful and interested in their duties. The food however is nothing to write home about. I've ordered a plain hake with beer batter and a side salad. The fish arrived and the batter was on the point of being over fried yet the fish was still moist and tasty. The batter was just too heavily spiced breaking down the real taste of the fish. Salad was not bad it's just strange that many restaurants will add raw red union, perhaps for the colour combo, without thinking that few people really like raw union especially when cut into thick large rings. A vanilla milkshake was ordered and my son asked us all if we think they put alcohol into his milkshake. It sure tasted like it. Turns out too much vanilla was added. That's disappointing to know that proper recipes are not followed. It really as simple as that and probably the only thing franchises are ahead off, consistency.

Beautiful setting. Restaurant has a perfect view over the bay. Staff especially Donna was most welcoming. Pricing on menu was steep but we enjoyed their daily special which included oysters and escargot. Definitely worth a visit

Lovely setting looking down into the bay - we always come here for lunch when visiting the area. Super seafood basket and good local beer all at excellent prices.

I had breakfast at the Paternoster Lodge, which was really good. It was a small simple bacon and eggs dish with coffee. It was both filling and delicious. I've also ordered pizzas and can highly recommend there pizzas. The Mafiosa (chicken and jalapenos) and Rib and Pineapple was fresh, filling and so amazingly delicious.

The restaurant has delicious food and the best view in paternoster. Would go back every time. The lady that worked there was also extremely friendly.

Very poor. Understaffed. Waited ages to be helped. Was told red wine is finished, then saw a bottle going to the table next door? Owner/manager dies not do rounds. No one greeted when arriving, or said thank you, when leaving

The worst!!! I don’t even know where to begin with this place. We stayed here for two nights and they couldn’t even bother to refill the coffee and milk for the room. The internet is basically non existent so unless you have the patience to wait 4 hours for a movie to buffer you may as well not even have a tv in your room. The breakfast is pathetic. There are 3 options: mini English breakfast, muesli and some awful omelette thing. If you want cappuccino you have to pay extra for it and if you want a decent breakfast you also have to pay extra for it. What is that? Never have I seen a hotel do that? Your bedroom has zero privacy- apart from the blinding floodlight that shines into your eyeballs all night long, your room overlooks the courtyard where people eat and where it’s noisy. There is no drinking water in the bedrooms either so you either buy it somewhere or face being drier than Ghandi’s flip flop in the middle of the night. Worst of all is that you could have a better stay at the abalone hotel for cheaper. Come on. At R2000 a night you should be ashamed of yourselves. Never coming back here again.

The experience was very disappointing and underwhelming. I made a reservation for 10 people at the restaurant. Upon arrival the staff made us wait for our table. The treatment received at the Lodge was utterly disappointing. We stood in the rain waiting. No one a approached to explain the situation, as I was required to enquire about the reservation several time. I would not recommend Paternoster Lodge.

This was very disappointing. We came for breakfast. Service was slow. I ordered eggs benedict and got the incorrect sauce and incorrectly cooked eggs. My wife ordered the health breakfast and the muesli was soggy. The view here is absolutely amazing so its worth it to visit. But expect to wait and order something simple.

Had dinner here, great view. Pizzas well priced only two too choose from. Limited toppings to choose from, well made. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff.

👍👍 Finally! A place in Langebaan that doesn’t expect you to make a reservation beforehand, which seems to be the non-sensical and frustrating norm lately. The lady managing the seating and guests was fantastic and went out of her way to be helpful. As usual, any place to eat right by the water is perf...

đź‘Ť What a great place for a Sunday lunch! When we arrived, the place looked absolutely packed! But they did have space open and were happy to seat us.
