A very sad place to be now. I remember this precinct in the 80s and it was full of shops and lively. The whole area including the Lancastrian Hall is full of asbestos but the council can't afford to knock it down. So it will be left to decay.

Swinton used to have lots of different types of shops which meant that locals didn't have to travel to another town / city. Unfortunately a lot of shops have closed and there seem to be more shops closed within Swinton Square than are open and most of what are there are charity shops or bakeries. Bring back the vibrant Swinton that we used to know!

Unfortunately not really much options on here and it seems like one shop opens and then two leave, it's a shame really as there is definitely lots of potential there but we're left with three main supermarkets and them just charity shops, phone shops and others but nothing that's really useful for everyday things, although from time to time they hold small events and craft days in the square centre and Santa's grotto is there over Christmas time

I love the shops here, unfortunately they seem to be in decline! Support your local shops please! Xx

Situated amongst the brutalist concrete municipal buildings, this shopping centre is better than it used to be but not the kind of place you would necessarily put on your list to make regular visits.

Only place worth visiting is Asda all other shops mainly charity or shut down

  • 4/5 Paul B. 1 year ago on Google
I so wish there was a better choice of shops.

Very outdated and in need of major investment to bring it upto date and attract more businesses.

Swinton over the years has now been left to fall apart, all the big businesses have swamped in and now most of the actual shops on the town centre are derelict and salford council needs to lower its prices for new businesses to move into the area

Swinton is not nice at all the lancastrian hall let's it down, no decent shops on the shopping area needs upgrading

A lovely relaxing place. Some great stalls on market day

Avoid. A desolate wasteland and bleak scenes akin to the walking dead. Went to Boots and the shelves were mostly empty, pointless.

Could certainly do with an upgrade but some great stores around there

Stopped by to pick up a few items from Tesco and it was serene.

Downside is if you want a meal deal after going through the checkout. You have to go back and use self service tills because the meal deals are near the cigarette kiosk and not in the main store area

Love this place might look quite but theres always something going on people are friendly just a shame most of the shops are shutting and theres no market as i say a market makes the pricent and no market no shops whats next just a shame but nice place all the same.

Nice choice of shops, parking can be an issue

  • 2/5 Joseph J. 7 months ago on Google
It was a nice place but the prices where very high, plenty to choose from but prices should match peoples wallets not higher than what one can afford.

This used to be a thriving hub of activity packed with shops..now its a dinosaur of a place and it's slowly dying out! Soon to be extinct

Fantastic shopping place where I can most of the things I need for my daily life. Plenty of parking places makes this place even special. Even in the busier hours, you can enjoy shopping here. It is maintained very well and sadly, closes at 5 PM. Otherwise all good. Highly recommended for a quick visit as well as a long shopping for daily needs. It is indeed child friendly.

Dirty Scruffy hardly any shops worth looking at it's gone right down in fact it did that many years ago the council should of looked after it better and stop charging company high rent charges and chasing people away the good old days when Woolworths were there and the library was open and the Lancastrian Hall where I saw the Drifters and Hot Chocolate and the black abbots been there for wedding and 21at Birthday Anniversaries but how the shops survive don't know

Rubbish shops. Miserable staff in most. Like most little shopping precincts, it's gone to the dogs. Sadly not a great community area because of asdas dominance. I don't choose to shop there for a lovely experience. More out of necessity.

A few lovely shops around, but so many places are closing with no sign of a new business taking over.

It's Swinton Square. Unfortunately many businesses here are gone, but it's still a lively place. Can be a bit noisy at time, but good place for all your shopping.

Brilliant shop's and very helpful staff. I bought an E- Cigarette machine. It works well...

Fantastic snooker hall here. If only they would keep the ruddy music down or at least turn the auto play off so you don’t have music blaring in your ear hole.

  • 3/5 David K. 1 year ago on Google
Valiant shopkeepers doing their very best in an ugly concrete environment. I remember this being built and, like Eccles and Walkden, what a mistake! Mike Harding's joke about the architect of these awful precincts tragically being savaged by his guide dog still holds true.

Nothing really to draw you there, we only stopped here as we were visiting relatives in area and needed to pick up bits from asda. Apart from asda theres quality save pound bakery, costa coffee, two charity shops. Couple of cafes on the precinct. Its a shadow of its former self. Back in the day it was buzzing there was a market and you could everything you needed in one place, Now its just derelict and empty and depressing, not worth the petrol to drive there.

I work in Swinton Square. More shops empty than occupied, I remember it when every shop was open and no two shops the same. Now they're building a Rain garden, why? Concentrate on getting more businesses on. Same everywhere, mega supermarkets killing off small shops.

Some stores now missing. Freeze factory, B&M, charity furniture shop. Big Asda still there though.

Lovely little shopping centre, lots of shops, massive Asda, and cafes.

God awful. Went to pick my daughter up from being an extra on a TV show and was met with a top less drunk guy shouting random obscenities, a second drunk guy being aggressive to passers by, then a 3rd drunk guy who picked up a stubbed out cigarette off the floor, put it in his mouth, and lit it before proceeding to follow my daughter towards and into the supermarkets. Luckily I was there before anything happened.

Bit depressing at times. However, the chap who sells pillows and bedding is great. The car park at Asda is a nightmare.

Love Swinton Square particularly the Greenhalsh bakery shop, extremely high quality cakes, pies and bakery products. A must visit.

  • 3/5 Janet A. 1 year ago on Google
It's a nice shopping centre, good shops like Asda, Morrisons and a huge B&M plus a couple of independent shops... somewhere to stop for a cuppa or lunch too

  • 3/5 Munashe M. 1 year ago on Google
It's nice, but I wish it looked better. Swinton Square has a quirky look and feel to it. Some buildings around it look a bit rundown, but overall its a nice local area that's pretty convenient for everything. Just a shame that even during holidays times like Christmas, the place still looks the same with no lighting or decorations put up. I guess this can be a bonus if you prefer simplicity over all things.
