I had a horrible haircut done at another place and Brittany was able to finesse it into something I could be seen in public with. Also, the scalp massage and snacks/drinks were really nice. I'll be coming here from now on :) worth the price for the skill that was put into salvaging this unbelievably bad haircut

My experience at Lunatic Fringe South Temple has been nothing but amazing. Initially, a year ago I had come in for a haircut and hair treatment. I was booked with Avery Ellis and let me tell you she is such an amazing gifted talent. She was so helpful, sweet, and so knowledgeable of the cut and products she was using. I explained to her all the issues I had with my hair for years and she found solutions and also took the time to teach me how to style my hair. A month ago, I went again and we decided to go outside of my comfort brunette hair and do caramel money pieces, and I love LOVE them, her work is truly amazing. I cannot stress enough the amazing service that I received from her and the whole establishment. It was such an uplifting and positive experience.

I was a client for many years and finally stopped going because the haircuts kept getting worse and the receptionists aren't competent. My last booked appointment was confirmed via text, however, the evening prior I was given a call to be told my stylist no longer worked there. I was given an option to book with some new inexperienced stylist, not the same level of experience as what I had booked. When I said no, I want the same experience level the receptionist told me all experienced stylists were booked out for months so if I wanted to rebook with them then I'd have to wait months to get in. I searched my stylist and found he had left 2 months before my appointment. So they didn't bothered rescheduling his clients until the evening before the appointments. That's terrible business management. This was the last straw. I had been a client for over 10 years. The receptionists were never good at the SLC location and the stylists at the SLC location had been just ok. The stylists focus on what's hip and trendy at the moment. If you ask for something else they just can't do it well. I had been going to Brittney for some time and she was beyond annoying. She talked about herself the whole time and did subpar cuts with poor styling. She once recommended some 15 minutes treatment for my hair which absolutely ruined my hair for 6 months or so and she didn't notice. That's why I changed to a different stylist. I guess the cancelled appointment was the push I needed to find a new salon with people that know how to do hair properly. The lighting is way too dark for stylists. They cannot see the color of your hair properly. It's so dark Brittney called my hair brown when it's a natural red. I would not recommend the SLC location to anyone. Try Sugarhouse or any other location. I now go to a Landis salon and have a fantastic experience. So much better than any appointments at Lunatic Fringe.

Obsessed with my hair after visiting Mary! She was so awesome. I was very vague in my direction and she came up with a plan and was upfront about cost every step of the way (which I appreciated so much). My hair is better than I could have imagined. She was also so nice, she made me feel like she was a bestie and we’d just met. Loved every second of my visit. Back to being a blonde girlie and I’m so happy! Thanks Lunatic Fringe!

I got my haircut last night by Olivia and I came home and found it uneven and layered when I didn’t ask for layers. Because of the blowout, it looked fine when I left but once I got home I noticed pieces that are not even. Not the haircut I asked for. I didn’t ask for an a line cut. The actual experience was great but definitely had a meltdown this morning realizing how uneven it is

I'm so excited to update this review! Salon director Jarl was quick to help and make my experience amazing. Kylie was an incredible stylist-- my hair turned out better than I could have ever imagined. After visiting many salons in the Salt Lake area, this one is by far my favorite. Staff are communicative and responsive. If you do run into any issues, they are understanding, down to earth, and truly want to give you the best experience possible. This is an amazing salon that will go the extra mile to make sure that you are happy and taken care of. Nowhere else have I had top-notch service, wine, and snacks along with my Salon Gossip. And JR is the best around. Seriously! I have followed him from place to place for years. He only takes clients once or twice a week, but you will level up your life by meeting him.

I got baby highlights on my naturally blonde hair. The highlights weren’t as fine in some places so there are some dark, weirdly placed streaks in my hair. They also didn’t get as close to my roots as I was hoping they would. It’s lighter though so I appreciate it. The people were cheerful and the atmosphere was perfect. Thank you

I have had such bad experiences with other hairstylists and other salons, until today. Before coming to this salon, I myself was the only person that basically knew how to blow-dry and style my hair (I have curly hair) and stylists would not make much knowledgeable suggestions on what to do on my hair. I had the best experience here though! Stephanie took good care of me and my hair, I left feeling so happy and satisfied with it! She was so professional and indicated what the problem with my hair was. She gave me instructions on what and how she was using each of the products. She explained everything so easily. My hair ended up much shorter than I thought but I honestly needed it. I took home some of the products she used with me and came back home happy to see and feel my hair like it was actually hair! No longer looking dull or like an old piece of brush lol. I already booked an appointment with Stephanie again. The environment in the salon is super nice too. I would definitely recommend this salon to anyone! The prices were also very reasonable for the type of expertise and professionalism of the workers and service you get! :D

This is my favorite location out of all the Lunatic Fringe buildings. All the stylists love working here, the owners treat them so well and everyone’s in a good mood. I’ve gone to McEllie for almost 3-4years now and I love her! She is the perfect stylist for thick curly hair and vibrant colors. I appreciate how honest she is about possible haircuts and treatments if they will work out or not. The front desk staff is wonderful and will set you up with the stylist that’s perfect for you. I pay good money for good hair, 10/10 recommend!

I went to Lunatic Fringe for my wedding hair and make-up and I couldn't be happier! Rikki-Lee did my bridal make-up as well as all the bridesmaid's make-up and she did an amazing job! Emiley did my hair and it was so beautiful.

Got a $90 haircut that was not exactly the greatest haircut I’ve ever received and she didn’t style my hair at all before I left. Got another $35 charge on my card later that day that was not disclosed when I initially paid. So In total I paid $130 for a overall trim and bang shaping. Really disappointed that they can just charge my card after the fact without disclosing the entire cost up front. Also to add this same haircut cost me $70 earlier this year at the same salon.

Brittany is the best, been a client of hers for over 5 years! I would put her up against the best. Shes the color queen whether it be blonde, fantasy colors, or any combination you can dream up! Great aesthetic, aesthetician, and stylist. Best salon in the valley!

PLEASE READ my partner went in for a haircut that starts at $35. After the cut, the total was $120. They did not have that on the website or explain how some stylists charge 120$ base. So essentially we went in expecting to spend under $60 and spend double that. The receptionist said something like “we need to update our website we want people to call in to get the price” which seems sneaky and deceiving. We will not be going back as we feel we were mislead and taken advantage of. Don’t come here unless you want to spend 120$ for a 30 minute hair cut. They are very sneaky with pricing. pricing isn’t listed clearly on the website. feels like false advertising. Take this review as a warning-they will over charge you.

Every single time I leave Lunatic Fringe I feel like a million bucks! They treat their guest like royalty! They bring snacks and drinks as you get your hair done! Everyone is so nice and soooo talented!! I go to Sarah Schrecengost for my color, cut, and eyebrows! She knows so much about how to keep the hair healthy and looking amazing! Also she gives the best head massages ever while you are getting your hair washed! 10/10 would recommend
