This gym has world class routesetting. Nearly every style and technique represented across all grades. There is plenty of slab and 2 huge caves. There is a specialty training wall to introduce newer climbers to basic techniques such as traverse, toe-hook and kneebar. There were several dynos set when I was there. The quality of the routesetting is about on par with Momentum Millcreek, but less quantity of hard climbs. Momentum focuses on very hard bouldering, while this gym puts a heavy emphasis on making interesting climbs in the lower grade levels. There are not very many climbs over V8. It seems like this gym caters to after-work enthusiasts and a little to outdoor climbers, but not competing athletes. The distribution curve is heavily skewed toward V1-3. The atmosphere cool in a dark and bougie way, but unfortunately the lighting is very bad on several walls, especially on the steepest walls which are almost entirely in shadow. The grading system is very bad. There are 9 colors on the chart, and they go by colors of holds. Meaning all yellow holds in the gym are VB, etc, (see grade chart photo). This makes routeseting more challenging and limits the climbers exposure to certain holds.. Moreover, for my first time here it was hard to remember which colors were which grade. It's so complicated they have to hand out postcards with the color chart on it. They say this is to "make you try something you wouldn't have otherwise tried" but I see it as just wasting my energy on a climb that doesn't fit my workout plan. The "store" is very small, and they didn't have a good selection of chalk. The crowd at the gym was less friendly than at Momentum and the Front. All the five star reviews on here are accurate in every other aspect. Looking forward to my next visit.

Love this place! Everyone seems to be comparing it to other local gyms, which I understand. However BP being entirely different is not a bad thing in my eyes. Sure it’s smaller and there’s no rope climbing, but with that comes benefits that out weigh everything else. This place is significantly less busy than every other local gym. Which is a huge plus for me. Because the mats cover the entire floor, there’s no awkward waiting to pounce on a route. You feel spread out instead of crammed waiting, and less eyes on you while climbing. The atmosphere is chill and it has all the other amenities like a gym and fitness classes. I prefer the smaller feel because it feels more like a community and less pretentious. Plus, they realized their one time only Buddy pass policy was silly and did away with it. You can now use your Buddy passes on the same people every month if you want to.

Creative sets with a good variety of wall angles to work with. Small section for top out bouldering as well.

Awesome boulder specific gym! The big plus for me was the soft padding, it gives me more confidence when falling. Also, has many comp style settings which is sooo luxury for someone lives in NY.

Fantastic location! I had a full day of climbing yesterday and had a blast. I really love the slab wall and overall vibe. It would be awesome to see some comp. sets sometime. And more dynos please! :). I'm not sure yet about the price yet. $75 seems a bit steep considering there aren't any ropes and only one location. I will try this gym out for a few months and compare it to Momentum and The Front. I will say that the bouldering here is more enjoyable for me than the Front in SLC and I like that it is all one level. I think one more painful part of membership is guest passes are only good for a new person each time. For me that is basically no guest pass. Glad you guys are here!

Awesome environment. Definitely prefer slcbp over the front. Much better membership price too. Clean large showers with locking doors too. They even have a sauna!

Bouldering Project has been life changing for me due to it's great value and combination of beneficial options. The climbing area, strength and yoga classes are great tools to level up and work on bettering oneself. All the folks at the front desk are super welcoming and happy to help. I'm docking 2 stars because they deserve chairs or at the least stools. Standing up for an entire shift must be exhausting and is unnecessary from a customer standpoint.

This place has extremely fun problems, with a variety of set styles for indoor bouldering. There's (true) slab to overhung and caves. The grading levels here seem more on point than other gyms and there's a lot more variety for folks trying to level up gradually in different styles. Personally, I think the sets are more fun than both The Front and Momentum. The facilities are new and very nice/better in comparison (looking at the sauna, the pads, and the gym equipment). I definitely feel safer landing on the huge bouncey pads here and trust better that I won't sprain my ankle unlike other places (ahem, The Front). So far parking hasn't been an issue either. The only issue is that if you're a rope climber there's none of that here, but as solely a boulder this gym IMHO is the best in town.

I really like Bouldering project. The routes are fun and engaging, even the lower grades. Other gyms tend to make the lower grades the same boring ladder and it's not fun. Yes it's more expensive than momentum, but it's way cleaner, the employees actually go around each hour and clean and aren't sitting on their phones. I do love sport climbing more, but I can just do 4x4s and keep my endurance up that way. The sauna is great, but I wish people wouldn't wear shoes in there and it would be great if it got hotter. Overall it's a great gym and worth the extra cost if they are keeping it clean. Obviously you can tell a clean gym is very important to me 😂😂

I love BP! It is fun and community focused. It is a really well run gym. The setting is fun and interesting for lower level climbers (not just jug ladders). I love their yoga classes. I always go to Candlelight yoga taught by Tate. All her classes are good though. Don’t forget the sauna.

This gym was sick! I wished there were some more slabs but it’s the only gym I’ve been to that rivaled contact in Saint George. I went to a bunch of other gyms up here while visiting and I really was disappointed with most. But here the routes were awesome and creative, the staff I met (Issac) was rad. And the atmosphere was awesome. Plus… and this is a really big one for me, it was CLEAN. I love climbing in a gym that I don’t feel like I’m going to catch pick up a fungus or infection from touching door handles and walking around barefoot. Pretty much every other gym here (especially momentum) had me grabbing handles with my shirt and standing on my shoes while changing. Overall, I highly recommend this place. I’ll definitely be hitting it when I’m up here. Thanks guys for a great experience. Also, whoever set the multicolored comp route that’s up right now needs some recognition. That was probably the most fun route I’ve ever done. Just hard enough for me to have to challenge myself and work through it step by step, but still do-able in one session. Although, all the routes were awesome. I didn’t climb a single one that felt weird or like it had bad flow. Super great job!

my favorite gym! amazing environment with great music taste. workers are super helpful and kind. even the other members at the gym are super friendly, just going regularly the last month i’ve been able to create a connection with several people. the projects are amazingly set, great challenges and puzzles. i’ve found The Front (Ogden) is very bland compared to BP. here they make all the climbs interesting and unique, great level of grading and tons of variety. kudos to the setters! definitely worth getting a membership, even though it’s a little farther then some other gyms i will always choose BP!

Modern gym with a good vibe. Place is roomy, routes are set great and the gym is big. Showers and changing rooms are very modern and clean. Would recommend, reminds me of modern European gyms.

Pros: 1. The building they are in is an interesting, new multi-use space. 2. Mats are really nice quality. 3. Fun problems! Cons: 1. Very, very limited space and amenities compared to the other local climbing gyms. Price is too high for SLC for how much less you end up getting. 2. Strange grading system based on the color of holds means that problems all have a wide variation of grades depending on the incline and spacing, so it is difficult to track progress. 3. Parking is an issue in this area of town and becomes very limited on week nights. 4. Guest passes only apply to first-timers. This is not how any climbing gym I've ever been to does it. It's fun as a day pass to check out once for locals, but I would recommend either of the other local gyms for membership or for visitors to SLC.

Great place to climb with amazing staff. Came here from out of town for one day and climbed for 4 hours. They have so many routes and the grade setting, though variable, is fun because it lets you challenge yourself. Wide variety of problems that incorporate technical and strength moves and lots of different holds to give you more experience. Definitely hope to come back soon

Great gym for bouldering! I'm a beginner, and I've had a blast on every wall. They change up routes often enough that there's something new to try, but not so fast that you can't work through a challenging problem. Very great place to climb.

When I travel I always make a point to check out the local climbing gyms. This was hands down one of the coolest bouldering halls I’ve ever been too! The blocks were very inspired and offered a lot of variety! I loved all the slab options! The only thing I felt it was lacking was a place one can wash their hands at after climbing instead of waiting in-line for a bathroom..

The bouldering project is awesome! The route setting is incredible. I’ve been climbing at one of the other 2 big gyms in the valley, and making the switch is the best decision I have made. The only reason I hesitated was because there is no rope climbing, then I remembered that I don’t rope climb lol. Customer service is awesome, especially Aiden. Super helpful and kind.

The Bouldering Project is awesome! Great vibes and a ton to offer. Excited to get back and explore some more. Matt at the front desk was also super helpful and informative. If you haven't been to the Granary Campus before, you need to check it out ASAP! So many great things under one roof.

Enjoy the cleanliness, quality setting and frequent use of volumes to mix up the terrain. Also, good training area. Not a big fan of their somewhat nebulous color rating system. My hope is that setters will be brave and go with the V scale. If the community thinks it's too easy or too hard then it can be adjusted. That very minor gripe aside, it's a wonderful bouldering and training gym.

I have never climbed before and I took my first class with Aiden yesterday. He made something I’ve been wanting to try for a long time a lot less intimidating and super fun. Awesome guy and a pretty sweet place

The front does not compare. Doesn't even hold a candle. This place is cheaper, better setting, better holds, better variety, bigger - it's just missing rope. But who cares about indoor rope anyway?

I've been a member since they opened. Their workout facility is very crossfit-like. Lots of barbells, kettlebells, dumbbells. There aren't a lot of machines except for a single cable machine, mostly everything in the workout area are free weights. The bouldering walls are kept quite clean and the routes are reset pretty often to keep things fresh. The personnel that work here have all been very polite and helpful for when I've had any questions. I haven't taken any of the fitness or yoga classes but the fact that you have unlimited access to a yoga studio on top of climbing is pretty stellar. Plus, the two guest passes per month are a really nice perk.

Stopped here on our visit to SLC and was so happy with the route setting! They have a variety of routes with various topping points on the wall. If you're a little more scared of heights or falling (me) this gym has routes for that. They also have shorter routes to learn really key techniques like bat hangs, mantels and pistol squats.

Really rad environment! Great staff, but I am unsure why they were open on Thanksgiving??? Anyways, stoked to have them in this area of Salt Lake City! Aiden, Nathan, and Kenyon are superstars and crush it at BP SLC.

Fun place to hang and boulder. Good variety of problems for a wide range of skill levels. Lauren’s yoga class was great, good flow and her directions were clear. Definitely will be back.
