If you're in Paderborn, must visit Rathaus building, Paderborn Dom (also situated in city center) , Heinz Nixdorf Museum Forum ( World's largest computer museum) and Padersee ( smallest river with serene environment and full of greenry).

This is a lovely structure from the early 17th century. It is typical for this part of Germany - I've seen city council buildings of the kind elsewhere in North Rhine- Westfalia. I like very much this kind of public architecture, the colors of the building. In front of the Rathaus there is big square with a nice small fountain, that is not working all the time. After working hours are gone, for a short time there a lot of visitors in the nearby cafes, and then the square becomes very quiet and peaceful, buses passing only from time to time. Unfortunately, the building was destroyed during WWII, but was quickly rebuilt shortly after war ended, so now visitors and citizens alike can admire it.

At the start of the 17th century on the orders of the Prince-Bishop Dietrich von Fürstenberg the city replaced its old town hall with a magnificent new building in the Weser Renaissance style. In the arcades on the ground floor you can detect a Florentine influence and further up are three beautifully ornamented gables broken by mullioned windows and crested by a weather vane. The building came through a few refurbishments, the most recent in the 1870s before it was almost levelled in the war. After that its redecoration was led by the local artist Josefthomas Brinkschröder and completed by 1954.
