Excellent restaurant, in terms of quality, tastiness, variety in the menu and also prices. We ate here three times in two day, it is simply incredible, especially compared to any other place in Samarkand. The location is also great, we sat outside, ambience was lovely and staff friendly and courteous.

Not sure why there are so many low reviews. The food was delicious and affordable. The dishes are on the higher end of the scale though you are also in a luxurious restaurant with napkins, and leather bound cutlery sets. They also have an extensive wine menu and we were able to try some local sparkling. Highly recommend for a bit of a fancy night out!

Please, somebody, turn off the underground electronic music, teach the waiters some basic english, and for God’s sake, please please, if you will not serve it don’t put it in the menu… It took us 30min to get any kind of attention from the waiters and that did not help, because they treated any English world as out of this world… choosing food was another struggle, because most food on the menu was not served. The little appetite we had left was butchered by the background underground electronic music blended with the live saxaphone from the outside. The only nice thing about the place was the cool design, but that does not make a restaurant number 1. We would be better off at the osh house by the hotel… a very big disappointment…

I could not get a table without a reservation, so I made one the following night and I am very glad I did. It was a lovely night out so we sat on the terrace. The local Uzbek wine was acceptable and the waiter spoke passable English. Platan is very proud of their new Josper Grill and have a menu devoted to entrees prepared on it. We started with traditional Dolma and they disappeared quickly. Platan is a farm to table restaurant and the fresh non-hothouse tomatoes in the Green Salad were the best I’ve tasted in the last month touring Central Asia. The Beef and Potatoes was quite good and the Sesame Salmon was outstanding (I cannot imagine how they got fresh salmon, but they most assuredly did). It was the finest meal we’ve yet to have in the Stans.

The BEST restaurant from our 10 days trip in UZB. We loved it soo much that visited twice and both times we were extremely happy! Amazing salads, meat and desserts (I still can taste them). Great service, too! Recommended to reserve since it was very busy. Once we didn’t have a reservation and they made the effort to get us a table!

Absolutely our favourite restaurant in all of Uzbekistan. Wonderful friendly staff that speaks English, food is delicious, diverse and well presented. The beer on tap is fresh and crisp. We were impressed by their wine list - a huge selection we never saw anywhere else. The atmosphere is fantastic, very cosy and welcoming. Well done!

XXL menu item, full book of 10/15 pages. With plates from too many different culture. Is a chef really able to prep and serve dishes inclusive of all the meat of Uzbekistan with all veggies and Mediterranean starter as well as the dessert ? Well... Doesn’t seem to be all super fresh and handmade. Disappointing, Friendly staff tho !

If you are in Samarqand, don't miss this restaurant. Forget about the tour guides' recommendations: they get commissions from restaurants. Platan will be the highlight of your day in Samarqand. Really high quality food, in a quiet and comfortable atmosphere. Lovely!

Best food we had in Samarkand! They have a diverse menu with a lot of interesting options, everything is flavourful and tasty, prices are fair and the staff is nice. Would definitely recommend paying a visit.

We are vegans and this place had different options for us, which were very tasty! The menu was in English with photos, so this helped! They had a nice indoor seating area, but we preferred the outdoor area! Service was excellent and prices were good! Highly recommend if you are vegan and looking for a place to eat!

If I could give 0 stars I would. Table for 2 at 7pm - more than half empty outside, told we had to sit inside. Entered inside and put on a table in the corner for a table that looked like it’s where Uber drivers waited. Asked 6 times for cutlery and a menu, was ignored or shrugged at. Hostess was extremely rude and asked why we were leaving as walking out the door. Told her that if we couldn’t get a menu or cutlery, when requested so I wouldn’t stay and eat. She huffed and shrugged her shoulders. Disgusting attitude & service

I visited here with my friend and the staff at the entry was very gentle and welcoming. They took our reservation for the next day, since they didn’t have space for that moment. On the next night we had a very disappointing dining experience: slow ruse service, cold food, and pushy tipping. We went for our 9:30pm reservation and it wasn't as crowded anymore yet the service was atrocious. Our server had an attitude but we let it slide since we thought he might be having a bad night. He actually talked without looking at us made bad faces and noises of disapproval, when I asked him for the wifi he practically tried to take my phone from my hand on a sudden move, I told him to wait, I opened the wifi list of networks and gave it to him, so after he clicked the password he threw my phone on the table. He was trying to avoid us and other nice waiters sometimes attended. About the main topic: he food came late and cold. We ordered Salmon and couscous, steak and mashed potatoes for our main plus soup, appetizer, entree etc. and the only thing we liked was their mashed potatoes. Since the restaurant was closing by 11, they informed us and we had to rush and finish our food. The bill came and the rude waiter quietly mentioned multiple times that the tip is not included which seems a bit excessive. The place surely has a nice ambiance to it, just wasn't the best experience and I wouldn’t ever go again.

Great kitchen, very good restaurant! I loved the vegetarian options: eggplants with burrata and mushroom soup were delicious! The staff was very helpful, kind and English-speaker.

The restaurant no longer has a vegetarian section in the menu, food was not great, food labelled "Hot starter" coming out cold and such like. Other dishes arriving at the end once we had finished eating. Only positive was the waiter who was friendly

This restaurant, for me, has a 5-star rating (though I rate the hotel 4 stars) Food is excellent -- tasty, made with fresh ingredients, with huge portions, and reasonably priced. We liked the food so much that we ate here 2x on our 2-day stay. The open-air seating in the evenings is special, though make sure to place a reservation as it can get full. The staff at night are much better skilled (quick and attentive) in service than those on duty for breakfast. Highly recommended 👍

This is my second favorite restaurant in Samarkand, a great place and ambiance. Food was fantastic except that their service is slow. Food was served very late but amazing. It would have been a perfect dinner but due to the late serving of food it affects our appetite..

Food is amazing. We had our first Uzbek food here and Platan set the standard high. It’s worth the wait, the cooking and produce quality is 💯 Just don’t come starving as the food comes really late.

Quality of food is not bad, but unfortunately pilav was not available, so I have missed the opportunity to try Samarkand's kind of dish.

I had one of my best experiences with Uzbekistan/Russian cuisine. Our party of three had three courses for dinner which all were extremely delicious, well cooked and well presented. The atmosphere was pleasant and the waiters were efficient and very courteous specifically a nice waiter with good knowledge of English and hospitality called Aziz. I recommend this restaurant to any food lover.

It's a nice location with great food. However, the service personnel seamed to be overwhelmed as there where many tourists and only few of them spoke well enough English to the on orders.

  • 5/5 Bradley C. 9 months ago on Google
We came for the lunch and it's not crowded and then it turned out to be one of the best meal we had during the entire Uzbekistan trip. We ordered mastava, salad, beef dish & lamb dish (forgot the name) and all were fabulous. We started to love mastava ever since tried at this restaurant but never had another one that close to Platan. Price is on the higher side but the atmosphere and the quality of food, I will still highly recommend it's a restaurant not to be missed!

I went there on a Tuesday evening around 6pm and all tables outside were booked, so if you wish to sit outside it is better to book beforehand. The food was ok but the portions were small and missing side dishes so get ready to order at least a starter, side dish or desert on top.

The best restaurant in Samarkand, the taste of the food, the price and the ambience is perfect. I can’t mentioned each of the food name but my favorite one is vitamin salad and manti. But other foods are great also. The saxophonist gave a good music it matched with the atmosphere.

  • 5/5 Kodir M. 4 years ago on Google
One of the most decent eateries in Samarkand. Cozy interior, clean facilities, live music and good tasting meals. Good for both lunch and dinner. Modest choice of alcohol drinks. Favored by foreign tourists and locals alike. Limited parking space.

Excellent food. We were assigned a server who could speak English - called himself John and he was the excellent. Friendly and efficient.

Maybe some dishes are good however my experience was fairly mediocre. The service and decor were great however the food was overpriced and not very tasty. The manti was ok, the lavash was served cold and the lula kebab was ok.

Both one of the most expensive restaurants on the trip and one of the worst, I’d give this place a pass. Most of the dishes were under seasoned and terribly bland. Apart from that, one of our party ordered a steak, medium rare, which came out well done. Service was also really poor, waiting ages for eating utensils and complete disregard when the issue of the steak was raised. The decor of the restaurant is nice but terribly small and given we were seated outside, certainly wasn’t worth the price. You can do much better in Samarkand.

  • 4/5 Arnaud H. 1 year ago on Google
Came here with high expectations, as both our guides recommended this place. Upon arrival, for some reason we were not allowed to sit outside, although it was near empty, and when leaving there were still seats available. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our evening with a good bottle of Bagizagan-wine and pretty nice food. Service was good, all the way to the main course, but after that we felt a but forgotten. Ultimately, mixed feelings, as, yes, the experience and food is good, but pricewise, you would expect the very best.

Good service, neat inside dining, comfy chairs and amazing menu. We visited twice during our stay in Samarkand, as we knew the satisfaction is guaranteed. A lot of vegetarian options, which is as we’ve learned is hard to find in Samarkand. Skip the bread and get the baked lavash with cheese and greens inside - starts with a B, but I don’t remember the name - delicious! Thank you very much :) —————— On the picture : Raspberry tea, mushroom soup, lobio and baked eggplant with cheese. Yum!

  • 2/5 Josh P. 1 year ago on Google
Looking at the menu and the reviews on here, we thought there would be good vegetarian options however we were quite disappointed. I ordered a hot appetiser and it came cold and bland. The bread was a bit tasteless and seemed to just come from a pre-sliced loaf, a shame when there’s so much amazing bread in Samarkand. Prices were mid to high for Samarkand but the quality just didn’t seem to reflect that. To their credit, the waiter was nice and spoke good English and the beer was excellent but it wasn’t enough to save their review. I’m sure someone who eats meat would have a completely different experience but we felt quite let down.

very cute hotel. Its surroundings and garden are full of trees. Close to many touristic places. Staff are very Kind. Breakfast is in the restaurant of the same name as the hotel. Their cheeses are amazing. It is already the first among the best restaurants in Samarkand. It is a good idea to stay at this hotel when you come to Samarkand.

(Translated by Google) I didn't like the prejudice from the front desk. They don't know English. The receptionist woke us up at 7 am, and then again at 7:30, knocking on the door with a request to remove not his car. We slept and spoiled our sleep and mood. I have never seen anything like this before. The room is in average condition. The candlestick is broken in half, the wardrobe is also not in good condition, poor cleaning! Found a couple of black hairs on the sheets. It was disgusting. Breakfast on the first day was terrible and the guy argued with me, organizing breakfast for us with the words "We'll think of something for you." I was very outraged. Registered in the room two people, and covered as if on one. I find it very overpriced for what they offer. Don't go to them again. I do not recommend!

(Translated by Google) We stayed at the Platan Hotel with a large group in November 2021. The hotel is very comfortable, clean, the rooms have everything you need. Very friendly staff, listen to recommendations. Breakfast is served in the restaurant - at our request, the breakfast was made in a traditional style. Very tasty (forget about diets :).
