Worst-managed Academy that I have ever been to. I have personally bought the last unit of an item several times in the last several months and none of the products have been re-stocked. The workers are never around to help and would rather stand around talking. The inventory information on the website is never accurate for this store. Other Academys are much better. I have shopped at this store for years but will be taking my business elsewhere.

Sales are not good, the store is an absolute wreck inside. So much disorganization. Clothes brands are all mixed up in wrong sections. The sizes are not orderly and completely mixed around from plus and regular sizes. Styles are not organized together, this store has gone downhill overtime. I'd give the customer service a good 3.5/5. I'd say its better to order clothes online from the brand's website and get discounts that way too. Or go to Marshalls where the same styles are offered at much more affordable prices. (Only referring to clothing). The items and selection of items is great for sport's goods.

Not much of a selection in women's white leather sneakers. Found ONE pair of Nike's that just weren't comfortable enough for daily wear. Left without new shoes 🤷‍♀️

The store was not organized at all. Most of the clothes were not folded. The merchandise was not faced. The most shoes were not displayed properly, boxes were torn up, and shoes were not stored correctly so customers could shop easily

Great selection generally. But can't really give much of a good review when they don't really cater as much to people like myself. Not going to lie, it's tiresome having to purchase clothes online while stores like Academy claim they hold plus size clothing when they in fact do not. Max they go up to is 4xl. Fatphobic much?

Visited the San Angelo sore on Monday. The line was at least 15 people deep and there were 2 registers open. I waited for a few minutes, then walked out. Academy's C-suite must not care that people are walking out of the stores, for lack of customer service.

To expensive but the store is very,clean. They have a lot of products that in my opinion are somewhat overpriced but there are some things you can get at a bargain if you are in the right place at the right time. It's got a good location to right off the expressway so it's easy to access if you can get that far.

There are never any employees on the floor. The shoe department is in such disarray you can never find anything. Styles are never correct under the display shoes and good luck finding your size if you can even find the correct shoes.

My 60 year old mother went togo return tennis shoes for her grandson and she was yelled at yesterday bc she didn't have the shoes in the right box. We lived 120 miles and instead of being understanding and nice just to let her know being the shoes back in its correct box . The manager was very rude and do not appreciate it. I have to work on the weekend or else I would have handled it. The store is nice and clean but need to work on your managers manners!

Picked up some hard to find ammo at a good price. In and out quickly because of fast checkout on every register. Got to be careful not to spend too much because they have so much i like!

This review is being written specifically for the shoe department. Academy used to be my “go to” store for workout shoes. Needing a new pair, it was the first place I went today. I was dismayed, first of all, at the lack of stock on the shelves. So I can give them a break for that - I know that many stores have had difficulty receiving merchandise and keeping shelves stocked. However, the shelves here weren’t just lacking product. What shoes they do have aren’t organized well and things are very difficult to find. The department was messy, boxes of shoes on the floor, along with bits of paper - does anyone around there ever pick stuff up? I was in the area for at least 30 minutes and these two employees stood and talked sports the entire time I was there...I never saw them ask anyone if they needed anything. The only time they interacted with customers was when someone came to them - and even then, the just pointed the customer in the general direction - never moving to actually assist.

Prices seem fairly high for my liking, but it doesn't stop me from going by to see what they got. Has really good name brands and some items aren't as badly priced as I say. They do have a great clearance, and the prices are fair. The management is like everywhere else, you got good and your bad. I've had a couple of run-ins with 1 or 2 of the management when I do my merchandising but it's their store so it's they're rules.

It is a good store... just not always in stock what you would like to get

I really love Academy, but the shoe section meeds major help! I bought a pair of shoes about a month ago here for my son, and we spent about 45 minutes rifling through boxes until we found his size. Today we came in to buy a pair of shoes for our other kid and had a very similar experience. The employees seem to try to rectify the situation by just telling us to order the shoes online. Please help!….update!! shoe section much improved!!!

Finally, and Academy that has an employee behind the gun counter that has actually fired a gun. Usually, at at least half of the Academies across the southeast United States, the person behind the gun counter doesn't know the difference between a magazine,a newspaper or a clip. I cannot be blamed for the fact that half of the people that come up to the gun counter and ask to see a gun, hold their guns sideways. Don't lump everybody together. Not only does the new,( to me) treat me respectfully, and not as a potential Criminal, I have actually carried on a friendly and amusing Firearms related conversation with him between customers. Just like the good old days of your friendly neighborhood gun store. And yes, there is other parts of the store too. Or so I hear. LOL

The staff at this store is quite friendly, saying that I've never been to an academy Sports store before so I have no other staff to compare them to. My questions were answered when I asked them to the best of the associate's ability nobody tried to "fake it until they make it with me" just honest answers. A few of their more popular items were out of stock that's to be expected considering logistics issues right now in 2022.

Prices were not marked on the 3 things I went in to get and couldn't get anyone to help me. Gave up on 2 of the 3 and went to checkout for 3rd. ONE person checking out customers, 13 people in line, 2 "manager" looking employees and 5 other employees standing around talking. I returned my item to it's place and left.

Geno, the manger, helped me find the equipment I needed for our youth sports baseball program. He was an asset and we plan to use this store again in future because of this.

Enjoyed the visit. Good customer service with nice people with the right information on the items we were looking for.

I was looking for something specific and these two particular "employees" were very helpful at helping me find what I was looking for. I told myself I would remember the names but of course I forgot. Will update when I remember.

I bought shoes on-line at a good sale price. They canceled the order and said the shoes were out of stock...even though they were available when I bought them online. Poor customer service. 😡

Busy place, as expected mid December. Very crowded w clothing. It was hard to walk through! Finally found the shoes I wanted, on sale. They rang up $20 higher!! Took a while to get that fixed!

Always love academy, at times they have not had some selections but usually everything is a great price!

Went in to purchase a outside patio heater on Black Friday but they were sold out. Management would not issue a 'raincheck'

I received a gift from Academy, so I did not have a receipt. I found the exact item on the shelf for $14.98 but since I did not have a receipt I could not exchange it for anything over $2.98 which is the cheapest amount the item was sold for during the year. Even discount stores will let you exchange things for the price of the item without a receipt. I personally will not be shopping at academy again. In my opinion extremely poor customer service. If this website allowed me to give the store zero star I would.

My go to outdoors supplies! Love this place. Can't beat customer service here. Thanks guys. Yall do an awesome job

My experience was great. Jessie at the customer service was so helpful and knowledgeable about the questions i asked her.
