I came here with my family during a visit to San Antonio. It’s strange that my review was taken down. As I stated in my original post, upon walking in, we were greeted warmly by the waiters and saw a wonderful assortment of pan dulce. The charm ended when we noticed the waitresses are required to wear poorly made, cheap dresses meant to imitate traditional Mexican dresses worn in certain regions of Mexico. The dresses look like costumes. However, we were still looking forward to the food but we were also left dissatisfied. The food was more like salty Tex-Mex than actually authentic Mexican food. It’s completely overpriced. The restaurant is baiting white non-Mexican tourists and we completely regret having gone here. This restaurant is a poor representation of Mexican cuisine and culture. The wait staff is also extremely overworked. I mention it because our waitress began to raise her voice and talk down to one of us for requesting help once we received our food. I don’t blame her, I blame the people in charge. If your wait staff is over worked and overwhelmed, it only results in a bad environment and experience for everyone. I should mention this was on a Monday evening. Needless to say, we will not be returning. Stay away from this place. Ask a local for recommendations on Mexican food if that’s what you’re looking for. It’s a shame this business exists in the place of something that could be truly remarkable and gives proper respect and justice to Mexican food and culture. Sigh.

First thing I can say is I grew up with Mexican food as a staple, and this is authentic. It’s high quality. My only negative here was the price seemed high for the quantity of food but if I’m being honest with you what makes it worth it is the atmosphere. It’s just a beautiful place filled with beautiful staff and there’s always great music. This is a wonderful place to make memories. Memories that don’t leave you. I remember every time I’ve been here so vividly it’s a phenomenon in itself. If you’re coming through San Antonio and happen upon this review and you don’t mind pricey Mexican food, come here to make Memories.

Food was truly fantastic, and seemed authentic. Great spice and unique flavors. Yes, there will be a wait, and it will probably be at least 45 min. Was it worth it? Yes, I though so. Get your painter for a table, then stand in line for pastries. Both items we got were good enough for us to bring with us on a 2 hour drive!

First time here and it was amazing. The food delicious and the service was pretty good too. Carlos was wonderful and sold me all the desserts. Its decorated so beautifully inside and even though there was a major line we were able to sit in a reasonable time. Worth a visit and worth the wait. Oh don't forget to have the mariachi play you a song at your table. So cool!

I really want to love this place. It’s like stepping back into a time warp. It’s definitely old school with some crazy Mexican Christmas decorations. I really love the atmosphere, but the standard food is just not very good. Nothing seemed very fresh or hot. And everything have the slightest hint of ode to cigarette smoke which was very weird. And I would avoid the cheesecake since the texture was like glue. We didn’t have any adult beverages but the ones on the other tables looked fantastic. Also, another table ordered fajitas which smelled great. That all said, I still would probably return if we are going to El Mercado around lunchtime, but I think I would sit in the bar and order fajitas.

So this place has been around for 70 or 80 years. The food is pretty good tex-mex and the portions are not small. But you really come here for the experience! The decor! The guitaristas! They will play your requests... if you know old Mexican songs or they will always have suggestions. It's quite an experience!Enjoy!

This is absolutely the place to go while in San Antonio for the BEST MEXICAN FOOD EVER!!! We traveled over 1,100 miles and we're taken here by a local. It was the best restaurant choice by far. I wish I could remember our waitresses name, but she was so sweet and even made a dressing for me personally that she highly recommended for their taco salad. It was delicious 😋 Everyone in our party enjoyed the atmosphere ( Day of The Dead display), with music, singing and again, delicious authentic Mexican food. Go here.... You won't regret it.

We went twice in two days. This place was crazy busy from open to close in the weekend. Waiting time from 15 minutes to many hours to eating in the restaurant. Best margaritas in town. Tasty well balanced of alcohol and fruits and high quality ingredients. Excellent, intuitive services from Mr. Pablo. Breakfast even better. Tasty high quality Menudo here. Wish they offer Mexican coffee but not. Fast and great services. We having a great time here.

🌮 Best Burritos Ever 🌮 Mia Tierra is a festive, authentic experience that’s well worth tasting. Every room is a vibrant array of lights, wall murals, and sculptures. There’s a massive bakery up front with delicious desserts and confections for sale, and the walls are covered in pictures of famous people who have dined there before you. My waitress was incredibly knowledgeable and attentive. When I accidentally received the wrong item (my fault), she was quick to order a replacement and it arrived fresh and warm within minutes. I immensely enjoyed performances by the wandering musicians as well. I have never tasted burrito shells as fluffy, tasty, and positively addicting as these. I found myself reaching for them again and again, filling them with leftover salsa and guacamole, as well as anything that fell from my main entree. Expect to take *lots* of pictures when you visit! There’s much for the eye to behold.

Wow! This is a must see and visit when visiting San Antonio! The last time I was here was 20 years ago with my parents. It is a super fun place. We were able to get a booth after a 10 minute wait. Our waiter was prompt and funny. We all had drinks. I had the steak and enchilada plate. Yummy. The drinks were good, but not strong. I have never seen so many people in a restaurant! The bathrooms were big and clean. After eating, we ordered some baked goods. We are going to eat those tonight. Again, this is a must visit place.

A family favorite for 50 plus years. Food always delicious and authentic. Chicken enchiladas en mole. My first visit was in 70s my great uncle knew the owner and we would dine occasionally at a large table. My great uncle worked for the El Po Po tortilla company. Taking my wife and daughter there is always fun and a tradition. We were there during Fiesta. Long wait was worth it. Thank you for another wonderful dining experience.

Dinner at Mi Tierra tonight was decent. There was a wait time but on a busy Saturday evening, that is to be expected. The food was not the best and a bit overpriced. The service was great and portion sizes were big. I really liked all the decorations. The murals and shrines look quite beautiful. Overall, I had a good experience and would go again.

Deliciously authentic Mexican cuisine! So good, I came for lunch two days in a row! 😋 I loved the Enchiladas Verdes and the Mexican special was also 👌 Wonderful selection of fresh salsas to accompany your meal. Generous portions so arrive hungry! The margaritas are great too! Shout out to Jorge and Carmen for their very excellent service 👏

This place is always packed. They used to be 24X7 now they are 8am - midnight Monday-Sunday. Of course always check the web site to see if the hours may have changed or if they are closed for some reason. The food is good, there are some that they say they’ve had better. The beef tips were nice and tender. The rice and beans were okay. The Chile relleno was okay. The bakery is awesome! The sad part, a lot of tourists visit this place.

Woah....this place is great!! As you walk in to the restaurant you are welcomed by a huge bakery!! Very impressive. I had a "Zapata" margarita to get things started. I had the Enchiladas Mole and then got the Vanilla Flan!! Everything was awesome!! I'll definitely be back soon when I'm in San Antonio!

The experience is festive and full of life. Beautiful interior and the mariachi is awesome for $10. Organize with registration wait time was 35 minutes. Tortillas were bomb. Having said all that. I didn't enjoy the tight squeeze in and out. The food was mediocre, nothing stood out with the taste buds. When your hungry and your food isn't splendid was a negative. The waiter was more concern with throwing out the plates and tending to the next table. I recommend beating the crowd.

Friends suggested we eat at Mi Tierra and I'm glad we did! The restaurant is huge, but even at a little bit of an off time, around 3pm, we still had to wait about 30 minutes for a table. We were able to order drinks at the bar while we waited so it really wasn't a problem, just allow a little extra time if you go. The decor and art throughout the restaurant was very unique. Our server was great and the food came out quickly when we ordered. We both had the Mexican Plate and liked everything on it. The plates were large and they provided plenty of hot tortillas to go with the meal. Great restaurant!

Fantastic start to the day with a visit to Mi Terra. Had the potato and egg tacos as well as the even-better bean and cheese taco. Tortillas were so fresh and tasty. Our order came out quickly and our server was very nice. Loved stopping by the bakery counter for a concha on the way out. If you see a sign that says Exit Only, just walk right in or you'll be circling the building like we did. Hard to get in, but worth it!

Bakery: Multiple staff take orders and answer questions about the treats. I have ordered a variety of baked goods, and some of the items strongly appealed to my tastes. New customers may have to try a few things before finding favorites since several of the baked goods seem unusual/unfamiliar. Restaurant: The restaurant was bustling with activity. Waiting in the queue for seating took me longer than placing and receiving my food, but the wait was worth it. Table service is good. The hosts/hostesses are professional and friendly. The vibe of the restaurant is great. I like the music, decorations, and employee dress code theme. The mariachi band is a neat feature as well.

Our server was great and took good care of us. This restaurant comes highly recommended and a very popular stop when visiting San Antonio. Our food was delivered not long after we ordered and was so tasty! Everything was wonderful!

so lovely and festive looking. the food was delicious. the service was quick and friendly. we were serenaded by troubadours which was absolutely lovely. (my husband tipped them $20) the restroom was clean and it was fun getting a pastry to go from their wide assortment. they had a display to honor their loved ones who had passed away.

You can’t go wrong with this place! Arguably the best Mexican food downtown! Their chips are the perfect thickness so they have a great crunch. The salsa has a great flavor I wish they had one with a little more heat! The fajitas were very tender and were not chewy like other restaurants. Rice and beans were traditional and were enjoyed! Oh yeah the tortillas were so soft and delightful! The pictures say it all! Thanks Mi Tierra for great food, atmosphere, and service!

We went during the lunch hour rush and were pleasantly surprised that they offered free valet parking. Once we registered with the hostess, we were seated in only 5 minutes. Our waitress came right after we were seated. Chips and salsa followed almost immediately, as did the drinks we had ordered. Our entire order for four took maybe 15 minutes to be served. The food was very tasty, and of course, we stopped on our way out and bought some delicious sweet bread to go.

Love the food and pastries here! We will definitely return. It seems like the bar was the place to go if you didn't want to wait. The bartenders were super nice and the food was just as good there as it was anywhere else. Seems like there was I'm almost a 40 minute wait. That said it's arguably some of the better Mexican food down there and the Pandaria it's almost unconquerable. There's so much food! You won't be disappointed.

Atmosphere was good and the food was, too. I ordered the mole and the sauce was very sweet. Too much for my liking. My husband ordered the deluxe Mexican dinner and that was a little bit of everything. I would order that next time. Though it would be the perfect meal to split since you get unlimited chips and salsa.

Great atmosphere and tasty meals, though the wait for a table exceeded an hour. The freshly handmade tortillas were delicious. Our server provided commendable and friendly service.
