Not gonna lie, came in without a reservation so my only option was to sit at the downstairs bar. I was skeptical at first, but as soon as I seen Macallan 25 on the shelf I decided to stay. Very limited menu downstairs, but for what its worth I'm glad I stayed. I had the wedge, short rib, and brownie. The short rib was one of the most tender and delicious short ribs I've ever eaten. The sauce was absolutely delicious. I would come back just for that. The service at the bar was awesome. Vidal and Scott not only were super friendly and welcoming - but they were on point with every recommendation, and had great customer service skills. They made my experience that much better, and I'm glad I stuck around. 10/10 service. Hopefully a manager sees this and tells them good job because they deserve it..if not more. I will be back for sure because of them and the delicious food. My only downside is that we should be able to order a steak at the bar. It's a steakhouse and it was kind of a bummer that the short rib was the only menu item allowed. Although it's delicious..I would of really enjoyed a Porterhouse.

Unexpected, super fancy, last minute date night(with 7 yr old in tow). This was a very last minute reservation we had here. We wanted to check out the food options and service before an important dinner here a few nights later. The service was good, the wait staff was attentive, the food was great. I was just a little thrown off by how fancy this was. I wouldn’t have taken my tired 7 yr if I paid any attention to previous reviews. Overall, come here if you want to impress a client or date. Otherwise, I’d skip it.

This place was absolutely delicious! We were visiting San Antonio and celebrating my mom's 81st birthday. Bohanans made the day special and I can't thank them enough! The food was amazing and our waitress was the best! The steaks were so tender and great flavor, they had a nice selection of sharable sides too. I definitely recommend checking this place out!

The restaurant upstairs was sold out for the night. So we opted to eat in the bar. It was worth the wait. The ribeye was so tender, a steak knife was unnecessary! The shrimp kabobs were cooked to perfection. Chicken lollipops also satisfied. Amaretto cheese cake, very delicious! Service was top notch. Looks like a mob hang out from the 1950s. Sinatra, And the like as mood music. All in all a great experience.

Bohanan's was a wonderful experience! I took my husband here for his birthday and it was our first time at the restaurant. I told them it was his birthday when making the reservation and they pulled out all the stops. Every staff member we interacted with wished him a happy birthday and they provided a complimentary champagne toast. The staff was extremely friendly, professional, and polite. Everything we ordered was fantastic from the drinks, to the escargot appetizer, truffle fries, mac and cheese, dry-aged steak, and red snapper. We did not have room for dessert, but we saw others order some and they performed a table-side fire show when preparing it. Sure it was pricey, but it's a steak house and the food was well worth it. We will definitely be back for our next celebration!

Of all the fine dining restaurants we have been, Bohanan’s is at or near the top of the list. We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience here. Our waiter, Juan, was amazingly attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. In fact, all the staff at Bohanan’s are so friendly as you make your way to and from your table. All the food we had from start to finish ranged from great to amazing, especially the buttery goodness of their Japanese A5 wagyu strip steak. This restaurant has a sophisticated elegant ambiance and I highly recommend dining here.

Megan and the staff are top notch! Food and ambiance is amazing. Get there early to hang out downstairs at the sexy bar (1st floor) and make sure to order the table side bananas foster!!! My only gripe is the female wait staff has to wear skirts. Questioning leadership, it’s 2022.

Haven't reviewed a place in a while BUT, a Bohanans is a must! Have been here twice so far, once for our anniversary and once for wifeys birthday! As you can see one was during the Holiday Season and the other was during February! With that being said, let's dive in! First and foremost let me start by saying a reservation from what I can tell is a must. If you do not have a reservation I don't think you can sit upstairs in the main dining area, however you still may be able to get a seat downstairs at the bar. They have stools at the bar and small informal tables there as well. We have only ate in the main dining hall so I will be speaking to that! Ambiance: As expected from any nice restaurant, this place is full of fancy decor, tables and silverware. It's not upscale to the point that you feel out of place but nice enough that you know you're just somewhere special! Dress Attire: The site says business casual, think of it as a Button up shirt for men, dress pants and dress shoes. Anything you'd wear to a meeting! The first time I realized people were dressed more relaxed (Think nice jeans a nice sport coat) so the second time around I personally wore a Nice white t shirt, a cardigan and dress pants with clean white tennis shoes. There were poeple in Cowbow hats as well if you feel so inclined :) The service: As expected the service has been top notch both times. They take into account any requests you make sure as letting them know its a birthday, asking to sit by the window (if they can accommodate), etc. The refills are always coming in, the waiter is always checking in and really makes sure you are having a great time. Absolutely worth every penny I tipped! The Food: Yes you made it to the most important part. What can I say, the food is just Incredible! They start you with a Candied Jalapeño cream cheese with crisp bread that is to die for! It's sweet with heat and not mixed in so you don't have to eat the Jalapeños. Next they bring bread with butter and the bread is always hot and fresh and perfect! As for the entrees we both got steak. The first time around wifey asked for Medium-rare and she didn't seem to like it all that much as it actually came out more rare than medium rare. The second time around she asked for Medium and it came out what we expected to be medium rare, so I suggest ordering a level up on your preferred doneness. I asked for Medium well both times and both times came out cooked to perfection! Make sure you let them butterfly your steak for the best cook! On the top of the steak I got the Mushroom sauce and my oh my, this is a MUST, if you miss out on the Mushrooms then you are not getting the full effect! As for sides we tried the lobster corn, steak fries, mashed potatoes, asparagus and spinach. Of course each side was delicious! The fries were not anything crazy but they were yummy. For me the true standout was the Spinach and Mashed Potatoes, each was perfectly cooked and the spinach was such a compliment to the steak! Keep in mind each side is big enough for 2 people so only 1 of each needs to be ordered! So! All in I have to say everything is just incredible, 2 times we have gone and so far the consistency is amazing, from the service to the food. On a quick not there is Valet parking up front for $10-$15 if I recall, just let them know you have a reservation. If not you can park across the street in the parking garage, you just have to drive behind the theater as the entrance is on the street behind it. Thank you Bohanans for the amazing food, service and memories. We will be back time and time again!

Bohanan's Prime Steak and Seafood: A Local Gem for Celebrations From the moment we walked into Bohanan's, the atmosphere exuded sophistication and warmth. The attentive service, led by our knowledgeable waiter, Steven, immediately put us at ease and set the tone for a memorable evening. Our dining experience began with a classic starter, the wedge salad. It was a refreshing blend of crisp iceberg lettuce, creamy blue cheese dressing, crispy bacon bits, and diced tomatoes—a simple yet satisfying way to kick off our meal. The freshly baked bread and butter that accompanied it added a comforting touch. To accompany our salads, my wife ordered a blackberry vodka sour, a beautifully crafted cocktail that balanced the sweetness of blackberries with the zing of vodka. It was a delightful choice for her birthday celebration. For our main courses, I opted for the 12 oz New York strip, cooked to a perfect medium, while my wife chose the New Zealand Tasman king salmon. The New York strip was a carnivore's dream, perfectly seared to lock in the juices and flavor. The Tasman king salmon was a standout, with its flaky texture and delicate smokiness—it truly showcased the skill of the kitchen. The side dishes, lobster creamed corn and macaroni and cheese, were generously portioned and packed with flavor. The lobster creamed corn was a delightful combination of sweet corn and succulent lobster, while the macaroni and cheese provided the ultimate comfort food fix. For dessert, we indulged in the bread pudding à la mode. The warm, comforting bread pudding paired perfectly with the local ice cream from Justin's, a beloved San Antonio institution with over 40 years of history. It was a sweet and fitting end to our evening. If you're looking for a classic and elegant spot to celebrate a special occasion in San Antonio, Bohanan's is a choice that won't disappoint.

If you are wanting a special place to go for a memorable evening this is the spot! The building is amazing. The window view is romantic and the decor sets the perfect backdrop for your special occasion. All of our dinners were delicious and their drink menu is extensive. The crime brûlée was the best I have ever eaten! You may be wondering why If it was so good I only rated 4 stars- well the waiter didn’t put one of our Filet orders in so it was delivered when the others had almost finished their meals. They made it right but it was still an unfortunate incident for our special evening.

Decided to have a fancy date night. This is the perfect place for one. The service was great, atmosphere was nice. The food was delicious, however, I was expecting the taste of the steak to be out of this world, especially for the price, but it was average. All the other food we ate was top notch though.

Treat the one you love to this exquisite restaurant and unforgettable experience! From beginning to end, the service, drinks, food and attention to detail was on point. Best of all for us, it was right across from the Majestic Theater. Make a reservation today!

Five stars for service, ambiance, decor & attention to detail. Shared a fun-filled, beautiful evening with friends & couldn’t have had a better time. Everyone made you feel special and welcome. Our server, Joseph, was exceptional. Wife & I had the Chateaubriand for two, it was good but a little bit salty for our taste and the mashed potatoes were not hot. Our friends’ baked potatoes looked more appealing. Overall, we had a wonderful evening filled with a lot of laughs.

Excellent food and excellent service. I had the 11oz filet and French onion soup this visit, and both were great. I have been here twice in the past few years, and always make sure to stop in whenever in town. Steve Fox was our server and he made sure our experience was nothing short of top notch. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting San Antonio.

This place is fantastic. We made reservations and had a few drinks in the bar before dinner. I highly recommend the Gin-erator. Really refreshing drink. For dinner, we had the ribeye and potatoes au gratin. Really awesome dinner and our waitress Nicole was the absolute best.

Best steak of my life...at the highest cost! If you can afford it...this is one of the best restrictions in San Antonio. Service, sides and steak all amazing. Truffle fries were divine! The broccoli was perfectly cooked and flavored with garlic. Ambience is very classy yet comfortable.

Amazing atmosphere… the service couldn’t be better. You feel exclusive going upstairs and the food was good. I’ll come back for the downstairs bar which was very nice and seemed to be a great place if you wanted a nice conversation.

This is now our favorite restaurant in the Texas Hill Country area. Every part of the dining experience was 5-star: the atmosphere (historic building with white tablecloths and nice silver, beautiful china); the wait staff (personable, friendly, helpful without pushing too much food and not rushed); and of course, the food (everything we ate was wonderful!)

Been here twice. Once 7 years ago and it was the best steak we have ever had. This time around did not disappoint! Had the A5 wagyu this time, filet and ribeye. Both amazingly soft. Would recommend the lobster creamed corn and the asparagus!

High quality service, nice atmosphere and great food. One of the best steaks that we tried in San Antonio. Definitely recommend this restaurant. It’s a popular place so better to make a reservation.

The food is delicious! I wouldn't recommend bringing small children. The place is very elegant and more appropriate for young adults and up. I think this is a perfect place to celebrate anniversaries and graduations.

My first time at Bohanan’s was an unforgettable one, a true 5 star experience that was worth every penny. Our waiter Danny was excellent throughout the night, and the food was everything you’d expect from a restaurant of this prestige. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for any special occasion.

The best food I had in San Antonio. The salmon and the prime rib were amazing even at an 830 reservation. You need to make a reservation as the wait for this restaurant is always long. So worth it Have a prickly pear margarita. They are awesome!

Took business clients here for a nice dinner during a convention this past week. There was 5 of us in attendance and while it was a little loud in the dinning room the food more than made up for it! However, one of my clients ordered the Steak and Seafood and his steak came overcooked, they did respond quickly by taking his steak away but did not return with another until after we had all eaten. I then received the bill which showed to 7oz filets @ $54.95 each a total of $109.90. At the bottom of the bill they took off $70.00 for overcooking, which means I still paid $40 for the steak which he had to eat alone. I could not say anything when I received the bill so I paid it. I am not of fan of companies that do this and know it gets overlooked. You have a great restaurant, don’t to stuff like this for a few dollars and upset customers, who won’t come back.

The wife and I were out for date night and we decided to head back to Bohanan's for dinner. Same great food (ribeye dinner & shrimp dinner), but service was just a tad slow and extended our dinner time. We weren't in a rush, so we were ok. Also, pre-dinner drinks were on point. Atmosphere there was also a bit louder than normal this time. Nothing against small kids, but just hadn't seen them running around before. All in all a great meal and excellent company. As is our tradition, we wrapped up dinner with a shared bananas foster, cooked using flambe technique! It was fantastic as usual. After dinner, we headed downstairs to the lounge area and enjoyed a few songs from the live band playing (Johnny P and the Wise Guys). Great time!
