This is a really nice resort and a great place for families. The rooms are nice and clean and you have plenty of room. The facilities around the resort are excellent. The place is beautiful and you can tell they put a lot of work into building and maintaining the resort. There are restaurants, five pools, and a nice area for taking a long nature hike. The location is really good if you want to get out of the city. It's in the hill country and overlooks the city and is close and convenient to a couple of big theme parks. The service is pretty good although we did have some questions with room service, as our order didn't come as ordered and even when they brought up other parts of the order it was still missing. I played golf here on another visit and the course is beautiful. A must play in San Antonio. La Cantera is a resort and you will pay resort fees and the rooms are expensive. Having said that, you're getting an amazing experience at a beautiful resort.

I was there just for an evening gala sponsored by my employer to celebrate milestone anniversaries of its employees. The place was festive with the holiday decorations that were beautiful and elegant without being over the top. The food was tasty and was presented by "ninja" servers that seemed to appear from nowhere. Everyone had fun dancing off the calories after our sumptuous meal. That was surely one great evening to remember!

Celebrated my birthday with a Swedish massage, dinner and an amazing time here. John Ruiz, the Chef Concierge was extraordinary! He and the entire staff of the Resort make you feel like you’re a VIP. I can’t wait to visit again soon.

We have stayed at La Cantera many times over the past 20 years, both for banking conferences and for mini-vacations. The resort has always been top notch. On our most recent stay this past weekend, though, the level of service was extraordinary. Our room was upgraded to start, and then it seemed every single staff member on the resort grounds made eye contact and greeted us as we walked around. I would say their level of service matched what we see when we stay at a Ritz-Carlton. Everyone seemed interested in making our stay pleasant. In a post-Covid world, you just don't see that anymore. The grounds, restaurants, and golf course are fabulous. Yes, La Cantera is expensive, but with this kind of service, its also a great value. We are looking forward to our next trip there.

nice resort but they seem to have a problem with drug use here. on the last day of the trip, we were tired and wanted to have a lazy day sleeping in the room until we went out for dinner in the evening. multiple times throughout the day we were woken up by extremely loud music coming from next door and our room completely stinking of weed smoke. not just our room, but the entire hallway outside our room all the way to the elevators would stink of weed smoke. i called the front desk multiple times but each time i called, the hotel said they would take care of it only for my room to start stinking of marijuana again a few hours later. seems that the hotel doesn't do anything about it and that's probably why people come here and do such things. guess they prefer renting out the room over enforcing their no smoking / no drugs policy. problem is, this is a resort/spa where people come for wellness and relaxation, its not a party hotel. its also a family place and a lot of people bring their children here. can't imagine why the hotel doesn't kick people like this out immediately. absolutely ruined what would otherwise have been a great trip. if you have children, i would suggest you find a different resort/spa because this place does not enforce their own no smoking / no drug policy even when you report it multiple times and give them the room number of the people who are doing it.

Room was extremely run down and dirty. Sliding glass door didn't even close. Went to the front desk to request a new room and they said all our rooms are like that and that they plan to upgrade them one day. They eventually moved me to a different room because we had no where else to stay. That room was only available for 2 nights rather than the 3 we booked. Still have not received refund.

Beautiful property - stunning when decorated for the holidays. Room itself was spacious and well-appointed. Several good choices for dining. Reception and public areas (including gardens and pools) are gorgeous in their design and decor. Would definitely seek to stay there again!

La Cantera R&S has been my go to stay for years. Staff (from valet to room service) are always on point. I especially love it during the holidays. Especially the food! Always delicious and cannot forget to mention Henrietta’s. 24hr “Market”. It’s more of a grab n go place. They do offer a few trinkets, though it’s been the hit sandwiches that have saved me on those late night arrivals when a full meal is just to much. Of course there’s the famous spa, hiking trails and golf course. Everyone in my family from my 2 yr old grandson and daughter to my 69 yr old husband all enjoy La Cantera. I actually believe it’s the one destination we don’t argue about!

La Cantera Resort is such a beautiful hotel. I had the honor of photographing a wedding here last year, and the staff were incredibly helpful. It was a crazy day of heavy heavy rain and the event manager Nikki was so helpful in moving the ceremony, and helping us find a different location for the first look. The hotel is huge, and provides a large variety of options for weddings, receptions, and for photos. From the lobby concierge, to the shuttle driver, everyone was so kind and helpful. -Lauren K.G. Everything was pretty good. Staff is extremely friendly! Rooms are great! Our BIGGEST complaint is how warm the pools are. The “heated” pool is not necessary during 100 degree weather. The pool felt like lukewarm bath water. It was very hard to be comfortable. It was so hot and the water was not refreshing at all. Maybe turn this feature off during hot summer months? At least In the adult only pools.

Was in town for Thanksgiving week and my only regret is we didn't have more downtime to actually enjoy this beautiful resort. Our room was clean and well-stocked and we only had one direct neighbor the whole week, which only stayed for one night. So it was relatively quiet. I don't know if I missed it on the website, but either way, it should be heavily marketed that all the pools on site are heated. If I had known, I would've brought a swimsuit. We thought people were crazy swimming in 60 degree weather, til I finally reached down into the water one day and realized it was bath water warm! I also think that they might have a water softener system, which I think is another perk they should tout on their website. We arrived at the beginning of the week ahead of Thanksgiving, so maybe we got a more prepared experienced than those showing up closer to the holiday. But I know everyone was working really hard to make sure guests were taken care of. We had heard from one of the workers that they had 750 reservations for their Thanksgiving dinner on site, which absolutely baffled us as to how they were going to navigate that. But they did! Everyone survived! They also had great activities you could do on resort. We only had time for smores one day, and it took us three nights to actually work our way through the scavenger hunt but that was fun as well — even for adults! SOME guests were a bit rude and inconsiderate. We ate breakfast on site the morning after Thanksgiving. We made reservations the night before assuming there'd be a wait, which there was, but it was only about 20 minutes. You would've thought some guests had never had to wait for a table in their whole lives. The restaurant is clearly busy and they're clearly shortstaffed, as are many hotels around the world, have some grace, the food isn't gonna run away. Overall, I'd definitely stay here the next time I'm in town visiting family. Maybe next time we'll stay on the adults only floor, though. I don't hate kids, but there were many times we heard kids running up and down the hallway and screaming in nearby rooms. I'd say this hotel is VERY kid friendly. Maybe it was the holiday, but I've never seen so many kids at a hotel.

I had to move rooms twice, one on arrival because the door key would not open the door the second was because the key was missing from the in room safe. This means, to me at least, that room preparation needs a review. It's a shame because I contacted the property prior to arrival explaining that I would be arriving after a very long journey and asked for the allocated room to be properly checked. I can't fault the service to rectify the issues. If you don't mind staying within the property, it's great but it's out of town so a trip to San Antonio (especially the River Walk which was terrific), takes effort and a taxi ride.

The court yard was cute with a Christmas tree and fire pits. Room had a balcony with a wonderful views. Hotel nicely furnished in an old elegant style. All the staff was friendly and attentive. Nice room with elegant bathroom, and comfy beds. We liked the place and enjoyed our stay .

Almost missed out on this amazing room, but a quick online comparison, especially on HoteIDuIIy.cᴏm, got me a real catch. Incredible! The spa is one of the nicest spa's I've been to. The attention to detail on every level ensures a relaxing, beautiful, and luxury spa experience. I've been here a few times, the massages are amazing, I didn't care for the facial, but the massage and the amenities the spa offers is incredible and allows you to enjoy the facility and views all day if you choose. I like a facial that makes my skin feel cleaner and that was not my experience, maybe if you're looking for a treatment that infuses products for aging or moisture you'd like the facial style, but for me I want my skin and pores feeling refreshed. One of my favorite parts of the spa is the pool with a full service wait staff that will bring you juices, cocktails, food, snacks, smoothies, power bowls, etc. You can just relax before or after your service under an umbrella at the infinity pool overlooking the beautiful hill country, it's quiet, I've seen deer walk by, listen to birds, and the sound of the trees brushing against each other....beside the occasional sound of golfers teeing off, it's incredibly peaceful and breezy. I always look forward to this spa and can't wait to come back:)

We expected more from the room and the entire Resort / Spa. The shampoo was only half full. It was a great view for the fireworks show. The adult pool was very trashy outside the pool all the way around. We decided to visit the pool bar and sat at the bar for drinks and appetizers. The bar was dirty with dishes from previous customers and the bartenders only removed the dishes upon being asked. They never wiped down the bar area we were sitting at. We did not have the time to play your golf courses but they looked in great shape. The staff was always helpful and friendly. We may book in the future but at the present we were not impressed with our stay.

It was a gorgeous property. I only dropped a star because I found the bed much too firm. My back was very cranky the next day. I had room service for breakfast and the food was delicious and arrived with very little wait. I wasn't there long enough to really explore the property, but what I did get to see was quite beautiful.

Great resort! The rooms were really nice. There were plenty of places to relax and enjoy yourself. 3 seperate pools and one was 21 and over only. It is secluded and yet only 5 minute drive from the mall or other stores. It was also only about 25 minutes from downtown.

We stayed here during for an event that recommended this "resort" and it overall wasn't we was expected. We booked three rooms, and every room had a problem. In one the bathroom faucets were leaking, in another we booked city view and got a view of the courtyard, the other was still dirty! I have stayed at the Marriott across the road and had a better experience. Overall, wouldn't go back there again.

Roach motel! I woke up to a HUGE roach in the bathroom (see photos) and some other kind of bug in the sink. After I went to battle with the bugs, I needed to leave the resort around 6am to make a very important appointment in San Antonio. The valet was missing, and the door to the lobby was locked along with the key to my car. It took them almost 15 minutes to get me my keys, and I was late to my appointment. I asked for an audience with the management to discuss all of this and was told I’d be contacted. That was 3 weeks go... I think they’re struggling, and I was very disappointed in my stay. It’s too bad because it’s a lovely place. It’s just not well maintained and lacks the service for the price. My room also wasn’t stocked with shampoo, etc, but those things aren’t as big a deal. I can’t excuse the roaches and making me late to my appointment. Not cool.

Gorgeous and lovely resort. We came here for a weekend conference. 5/5. Quick friendly service. 5/5 Food service was quite good. Hard to have good food for a large group. La Cantera did an outstanding job. Food was fresh and delicious. Grateful as we ate three meals a day here. 5/5 Rooms were comfortable. We could hear people next door though. Thankfully they were only loud for a short time. 5/5 Pool area was refreshing as we stayed here during sweltering weather. 5/5. Service was good.

Felt very unappreciated. They say it's a luxury resort and spa and none of the above forever. No one would answer the front desk throughout our two-day stay and then we got ready to leave early on Friday morning and called no one answered called. No one answered called the concierge. No one answer a text for valet to bring car up. No one responded. Finally I carried my bag and my backpack down to the front lobby which they were all busy doing Christmas decorations. I asked if anybody was working at the front desk to a couple that was sitting down just talking away as if they had nothing else to do. Found out they were supposed to be behind the counter working. They both jumped up as someone bit them in the butt. Then I proceeded to check out. They had to contact someone to go pick up my bags where my wife was at the room finished bringing my car up. All they could do was say would you like some water for your trip? I said whatever I walked away she followed me out to the car and handed me the two waters and went back to probably sit down and continue her conversation with the co-worker. Who knows? Spent over $1,000 today. What a waste of money and time. Very disgusted

Me and my boys took a trip here by ourselves, and they made me feel like a queen as soon as I pulled into the valet. I loved the white party event by MOET, and we had the best view/balcony. Definitely expensive but worth the money if you care about luxuary, good views, and peace with humbled people. My kids had a blast at the pools. We loved the city view Terrance at night watching the fireworks. Everyone here treated me like royalty. I absolutely adored it and will be back!

I spent the day at The Topaz pool Sunday for a friends birthday. Beautiful pool and atmosphere for sure, but it was HALEY, our server for Cabanas 9 & 10 that blew me away! It was 105 degrees out, she had 40+ needy (tipsy) people to take care of, and NEVER skipped a beat! I’m planning my next company outing there because of her outstanding service!

Great experience, food is a bit expensive in all locations given the quality but that is my only issue. Walkable, friendly and attentive staff. Rooms are slightly dated but I'm not here to be in my room! Shout outs to Jesse and Adam in the lobby bar which has a great selection of whisky and Paul in the Sweetfire restaurant, they made my stay even more special. We'll be back! 👍

Great service Clean room, beautiful lobby. Multiple pools for all ages and type of crowd (kids, family or adults) Beautiful location, nature trail and golf course. Arcade room (needed much repair when we were there) Friendly staff at the front desk as well as cleaning crews and pool crews. Good pool restaurant and a 24h coffee place with pizzas and ice cream. We'll definitely go back.

I would highly recommend coming to this hotel! I came with my family and it was very enjoyable! The location of this hotel is so convenient, not only is it near malls and restaurants but it’s also right across from six flags so you can see the fireworks right outside your window. This hotel also has 4 different pools you can go to, one of them being mainly for the little ones. I would definitely say this hotel so also very kid friendly/family friendly. They have such reliable friendly and welcoming staff and the rooms are very nice.

Really nice staycation. The pool was fun, wish there was a bit more to do like the kiddie pool. The food options were awesome. Everything we ate was delicious. The rooms were nice with great views, for some reason the beds didn't really help us sleep very well. The staff was very helpful anywhere you see them. Kinda felt bad like you should tip anyone you interact with since they seem to go out of their way to make sure you are enjoying your stay. Can't wait to return.

I didn't stay at this hotel, but I spent the day at their spa, and it was fantastic. This was maybe the best massage I've had. Afterwards, you can hang out in the spa until they close at 6. The spa has a sauna, steam room, pool, relaxation areas, and a hot tub, which you can circuit around to your heart's content. There's a juice bar that serves delicious food too, or you can order from any of the hotel restaurants and they'll deliver it to you in the spa. I highly recommend this spa to anyone looking to spend a relaxing day.

Surprisingly poor service from such a nice resort. The first 3 beers we ordered by the pool where not available and the next day the tequila bar was out of several tequilas. Servers we poor in both of the restaurants on site. Two exceptions: The bar off the lobby had good service and both the food and service at "The Signature Restaurant" were outstanding. I would give 5 stars to the Signature Restaurant without reservation.

Wonderful resort. We stayed on Seven and celebrated our tenth anniversary. Personal concierge and the happy hours were great. Golf course has some amazing holes but finishes on a lack luster hole. OUTSTANDING service from everyone! We will definitely be back!

Fantastic resort. Bellmen, concierge, front desk, room service...they were all Fantastic and very helpful. The multiple pools were exceptionally clean and there's even pools setup for adults only. There are kid friendly pools as well. Several restaurants on sight, should be able to find something for everyone. The golf course is beautiful!! The clubhouse personnel and all related to golf course were very helpful and knowledgeable about the course. The rental clubs are by far the best rentals I've ever used. The restaurant ar the course was my favorite, great bar/finger food after a exceptional round of golf.

A gem in the Hill Country. Very close to the best NW West San Antonio has to offer. They have an awesome indoor bar, several venues for weddings and events. There's a pool, golf course and private suites with hill country views. Parking is plentiful, but if you don't valet be prepared for a walk! Highly recommend.

Stayed here work a 4 day work conference. This place was ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!! Check in and check out were easy. Rooms were clean. Bed was comfortable. Balcony views were beautiful. Food was so-so, but the rest of the experience prevailed. From memory, you can expect valet, a golf course, a workout room, a business center, an ice cream parlor, a burger joint, a Mexican restaurant, kiddie pool, an over-21 infinity pool, family pool, gift shop, tons of meeting rooms, a spa, a friendly staff, and a host of other things. This is a great place for business, a girls’ trip, family trip, couple’s trip, or some alone time. (Please LIKE this review if you find it helpful/true) 😊

My wife and I really enjoyed this resort. It was our second time there in five years. This time, we spent most of our time at the 21yo and older pool and ate at the restaurants. I’d like to call out Steven, Alex, Nick and George. They were our servers and went above and beyond every time for us. They made our pool experience perfect. As for the room, it was a simple room and very clean. We could not hear our neighbors, except one baby who cried every so often. Overall, I’d strongly recommend this resort if you are in the San Antonio area. Be aware, it’s not a cheap resort but worth every dollar.

My family and I had a wonderful stay. The resort is beautiful with great amenities. The pools and gym were nice and clean. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. We only dined at a few restaurants, some were better than others. The employees were friendly; however, Peyton and Chris (front desk personnel) went over and beyond to make our stay an even better experience. Thank you! We booked our stay through American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts, booking through them provides great perks, i.e. early check-in, late check-out, upgrades (if available) and food credit. Overall, we had a wonderful experience!

Was one of the best resorts my husband & I have been to! From the views to the maintenance everything was extremely nice. Rooms were super clean, very spacious. We had dinner and brought over leftovers, we asked where we could heat up our food & a Jose up front & Henry sent us up a microwave. THE BEST service we have ever had. Thank y’all for that. It really did make our night. We will definitely be going back!

We had a wonderful time here with our family last weekend. The resort is beautiful and the amenities were to notch. The staff was very helpful across the board. We loved the pool area with so many options from kids pool to adult only pool. All of the restaurants were delicious, especially the mid day ice cream break! It’s hard to believe you are right in the middle of a major city while you are at La Cantera- it truly is a peaceful getaway. Looking forward to our next stay!
