Definite must visit Filipino Restaurant when you’re in the SF area. The place is big and clean. Servers are friendly and attentive. Food is unique, delicious, and served fairly quickly. The adobo ox tail and the crispy pork binagoongan are highly recommended.

This is the perfect place for a group of friends or family. Order their Bilao package enough for group of 8-10, includes unlimited order of rice and two desserts. They have two soda fountains with ice dispensers which is enough to give you space and time to get your favorite "softdrinks" beverage (they have pepsi products). If you're a Niner, Gsw or Giants fan, you wont miss out on basketball, football and baseball coverage as they have 4 widescreen TVs. They have table seating for 4 and upto 12 seats (round table). There's a public parking at the back if you are having a hard time looking for one on the side of the restaurant. must try: Kare-kare, jeprox, pancit & leche flan

All the Filipino comfort foods with good portions. My favorite was the sinigang, inasal, and halo halo. Do not come here when they are busy if you are sensitive to sound because it is VERY noisy. Quick but inattentive service. Staff speak Tagalog.

Super friendly staff! The portions are huge, so don’t expect to go out hungry. Prices are fair and the location is pretty neat! There is plenty of parking behind the restaurant, so no worries, you’ll find a spot!

Street parking only. There is no valet service here. Great place for big groups. There are lots of delicious choices on the menu. Food is cooked Pampanga style. Staff are friendly and helpful.

First time visiting this restaurant. Ordered one of the combo assortments fir the table to share. The combos are discounted from ordering the entrees individually, you get unlimited rice and it comes with theee fountain drinks. I massively over ate, big time, had to take a nap. My stomach hurt. I was happy. My Filipino food "experts" say it is authentic and brings them back to their childhood. Wow ... that's quite an endorsement! (hey, didn't i hear that in a Disney film?) Anyway, its a great place. Highly recommend it. Go early, its packed by 11:30 am on a Saturday.

Had an awesome time at a wedding rehearsal dinner here. The food was so delicious! It was a little hard to get a server when we needed to order more, but the place was absolutely packed on a Friday night, so that makes a lot of sense. Fun, very family friendly, would recommend it!

Celebrated my friend's birthday here. The staff were very nice. Food were great, we got the bilao #4, price is good, the amount of food on bilao is good for 6 people. Lol. More sawsawan options please. 😁

First time ever having Filipino food. Let me say that Isla did not disappoint. The food was delicious, the service was friendly and the ambience was very nice. I ate here in Early August. Now I’m back in the bay from Washington, D.C. for a few days and I’m taking my wife to eat there. I can’t wait to feast! I’ll add a second review then or maybe I’ll let the Mrs. do so.

Great place for big groups and large platters. Lechon kawali, pinakbet and pancit were awesome. Make sure to have the kare kare oxtail with shrimp sauce. The two go great together.

This has become my parents favorite place to eat every time they visit. We appreciate the family-sized portions and all the different options they have in their Bilao’s. Easily becoming a staple spot for our family.

Really cute place with lots of potential. I ordered the sisig one of my go-to dishes. It was ok, but I've had better. I'm used to chopped jalapeno peppers and onions to mix in. Anyway, the inside was awesome, add that the menu looks amazing, so I'd like to try it again. It is probably a 3.5, but can't do half-star ratings. Maybe I'll go back and try something else.

In terms of authentic Filipino food, it’s not bad. We got a plate combo each, my friend getting the grilled chicken and me getting the Tocilog. The price was decent and you get your moneys worth here. The combo plates came out quick with soup, rice, egg, tomato, and the meat. They could’ve had a better veggie side included with this meal than just just tomato. Even on the menu, there’s no small veggie side dish you can add; only huge plates. I was not a fan of the tocilog since it was doused with sauce and the flavor was too sweet and overwhelming for the pork. Would prefer it just right. The ube ice cream at the end was delicious and a nice way to end the meal

While in the bay area, our family had one of dinners here at Isla Restaurant. Place was very busy but we got seated almost immediately and our waiter were quick in getting our orders placed. Lots of food! Food was tasty - we especially liked the Tinta Rice and the Sulit Bilao (which was a whole platter of mixed items from fried bangus, to Inihaw na Leimpo, to Lumpia Shanghai). Great place to gather with family and enjoy a meal.

This place is not bad, it has more options than other Filipino restaurants. Their Tocino was just plain sweet and not much of other flavors, it was fatty and oily. The fried pork belly with shrimp paste was super salty and bitter eggplant with mango being hard cubes. I agree with many other comments regarding the lack of customer service. Their food in the back being already precooked were being plated nicely. Reason why they are fast coming out but still lacking customer service. You do have to ask people to help get your order and you have to get your own drinks. Their beef soup was hard but tasty. Their pancit palabok was too wet and came out cold. Their caldereta fish was really good but the portion was good for 1 person.

First time visitor from east coast They got many Filipino dishes. Sisig was good. Staff was all very helpful. It was busy on the day we went since it was Father’s Day. If you are looking for the Pilipino taste look no further Isla has one of the best.

Bit of slow service but the food was pretty great! I've never tried Filipino before so I have nothing to compare it to, but myself and my friends thought it was tasty. We ordered a few dishes to share, but our favorite was definitely the deep fried pork belly. They were out of the Filipino beer but my friends were able to order other beer (Heineken/Corona).

Have not been to the new place since it relocated. This place is a lot bigger and nicer. Seems very inviting. Service is lacking. We had to stop people to take our order because they never checked on us. We thought once the food arrived, the service would be better, we ordered the bilao #4- it comes with drinks and dessert. Had to ask for drinks, and they didn't give us the cups until we were done eating. The food was good. We ordered: 1. Calamari - crunchy and not rubbery. I say this because they are calamar rings, not the kind from other places. 2. Lumpia shanghai - surprising meaty and flavorful. Other places can be almost empty inside, and you're just eating wrapper. 3. Chicharon - super crunchy 4. Popcorn shrimp - crunchy and flavorful. Not all batter. 5. Sisig kapampangan - tasty but not that crunchy. It was kinda like eating baby food, you don't really need to chew. 6. Bilao #4 - most everything in it was good, longanisa, prawn crackers etc. Didn't care too much for the crispy pata - looks like we got the end of it, just bone no crispy skin. Fried chicken was salty. 7. Tinila combination - think it was good didn't really get much feedback. 8. Sinigang na bangus - this one was good and perfect asim. 9. Nilaga baka 10. Pancit bihon - I thought it was good. I only care about noodles and don't really like vegetables, but my family said the noodles weren't even bigon. It was sotanghon a thinner noodle mostly used for soup. 11. Kare kare - it should've been ox tail but what we received were meat strips, and the portion was so small. It's definitely not worth it for that price. Service was horrible. They never checked on us or when they provided us with containers to go. They would disappear and never come back. I'm not sure if they did this because our party was a table of 10, and the tip was automatic. 18% of the bill. We literally ended up getting our own containers because they didn't help us. We could've left with not paying our bill. They literally didn't seem to care. I had to go up to 2 people at the register. One was just on his phone. The other one I asked at the other register was like ah OK. Food is good, service sucks. They weren't even super busy.

First time at this restaurant, we were a party of 8 celebrating my brother-in-law’s birthday. The staff were friendly, professional and courteous. The food was served hot, well seasoned, adequate portions and delicious. We were all throughly satisfied and would definitely go back in the future.

Loved the atmosphere, though rather noisy. Loved the food, especially the barbecue (my all time favorite). Haven't been at this location in years yet it felt like home as soon as I walked in. Looking forward to my next visit.

Came here with a party of 4 on a Friday around 6:30pm for dinner. Super spacious restaurant with lots of seating. The place filled up at 7pm so we are glad we came a bit earlier than their dinner rush. Their waiters are friendly and work fast, but they’re a bit understaffed for all the tables. We had a feast and ordered a ton of stuff for 4 since their menu was so expansive! - Lumpiang Shanghai: easy appetizer and made in cute bite sizes to easily munch on throughout dinner. - Sizzling bangus sisig: solid dish and goes well with plain rice or another rice dish - Binagoongan rice: I liked the mango and tomato bits that added flavor to the rice. The fried pork in this was also very tasty and balanced the salt and fried was of it with the rice and tomato and mango. - Crispy pata: massive thing and we took it home at the end but very crispy and a popular dish since it’s not easy to make at home. Also goes well with rice or noodles since it’s just meat. - Pancit bihun guisadu: I love my noodles and this was a solid dish. Loved the seafood and quail eggs added to it too. - Bicol pakbit: added a veggie dish cus we need a balanced meal :p I love the coconut flavor and reminds me of Thai dishes but lots of veggies in it, even bittermelon! Drinks: - Black gulaman: love the little bits of grass jelly and coconut pandan — reminds me a lot of Che (Vietnamese desserts). Let the ice melt so it’s not so sweet too. - Red horse (2): 8% beer, one of their stronger ones but it’s a their local Philippines beer so try it if youre a beer fan. - San Miguel pilsener: their lighter local Philippines beer, also worth a try if you’re into beers. Overall we left super full and satisfied! Family-style is the way to go. All this was around $40 a person including tips. Also, don’t forget to like them on their social media page for a free scoop of ice cream. I got ube and it was such nice cherry on top of the meal :)

Isla in San Bruno, CA is most deserving of 5 Stars in all of the categories! Arrived hungry at lunch time, 12:30pm. Was immediately seated and welcomed into a vibrant wholesome family atmosphere. Ordered the following: • Tocilog • Pancit Palabuk • Ultimate Ginataang Gipon • Halo Halo (topped with Ube Ice Cream and Leche Flan) Delicious flavor combinations with the food arriving less than 6 minutes after being seated, Wow … a round of applause One, two, three, four, FIVE Stars ! I approve of this rating, Jay M.
