You must go to the top of the hill to fully appreciate the city. The views are brethtaking. The church is beautifull, very simple. The virgin is a central part of the mexican catholic experience. Please go w/ an open mind and respect the faith of the locals it contextualizes your experience.

Beautiful church and views from the top! It's definitely a struggle to go up if you're not in shape. But you can go slowly and take in the views as you go. Only negative part was that some views are covered by trees. When you're up there don't forget to check out the right side for some countryside views as well.

It's a fun place to say you've seen. The steps are daunting but if you have limited mobility you can take a cab to the top and walk down. I've been told if you climb the steps with sincerity in your heart you can ask for a miracle. Inside is the Saint wrapped in ribbons for each miracle requested.

Cool walk from the centre until here, you will pass by a lot of interesting restaurants from (I don’t want to say but I will) all over the world, since Mexico has mainly Mexico food what makes sense right? But I’m case you wanna find other flavours for some time, in this street you will find good things to go, not onlyyyyyy but it’s definitely a good street to start by! Peace

A nice yellow themed church that overlooks San Cristobal. Quite a walk from the city center so recommend getting a taxi.

I did my morning exercise climbing all those steps. Be sure and visit the other building on the property.

It won’t take you too long to walk up the stairs and have a somewhat nice view from above over San Cristobal, but the church itself isn’t that much worth it to see. It has some specific local decorations, but in the end it’s not like it has the wow-factor.

Nice church to see, you can watch S. Cristobal from the platform. Totally go to eat in the Guadelupe street, it’s very good.

Beautiful but simple church upon a hill overlooking the center of San Cristobal de las Casas. It becomes the center of activity around December 12th, a festival for the Vigen of Guadalupe

Such a beautiful church placed in equally beautiful setting - climb to the top and be awarded by well-deserved breath of clean air in tranquil surroundings

Beautiful church placed on a hill overlooking the city. You have a beautiful view from there, and the steps are an ideal place to rest a little. There are bathrooms next door for 5 pesos.

Stunning views from the top and not just the one at the front entrance. Lots of very slanted steps to climb up but if you can't handle them there's a somewhat steep hill around the side that takes you up via the back entrance to the grounds, or grab a quick collectivo or taxi. Beautiful view and beautiful architecture.

Go here for the views and to admire this quaint, down-to-earth (no pun intended) church. Leave a donation or buy/dedicate a candle at the store/office next door. If you want to offer a candle there's a special chapel next to the office/store on the side of the church. Look for the building covered in smoke.
