My stay at Casa Gaia was not really pleasant. Good things first, it's really well located, has a well equipped kitchen and a pool/ping pong table. However there's no hostel vibe at all. The majority of people are long-term residents or volunteers who behave as if they own the place. It's a nice community for them, but I didn't feel welcomed at all. They barely greet you and the only communication happens when you play music they don't like. During our stay they told other guests what to do and what not to do and complained about other guests. Even in the kitchen you felt very unwanted, because they were occupying it almost all day, leaving very little space for other guests. Not the owners fault but the techno club next door was playing at max volume starting Friday at 3pm and Saturday at 8am continuing all day. I can definitely not recommend it, though it could be really nice if it wasn't for all the above.

Fantastic hostel, super location and really great staff too. Friendly, welcoming space and superb value for money. We had a private room with en-suite and it was huge. Highly recommend. 10/10 for me

Really lovely little hotel/hostel! The private room with a private bathroom is massive, the daily breakfasts are simple but delicious, and the staff are nice. Shared kitchen is also very clean. Very central location!

Love this place! Stayed four times! Super clean, friendly and perfect location. Price inc breakfast with coffee and they even go above and beyond to make sure I get something vegan sometimes! 💜

Super clean, beautiful place, staff was very helpful. We stayed in 3 different places in SC but this one was the best! I recommend

5 stars! Lovely atmosphere. The only down side is I wanted to stay longer and I couldn’t because it was all booked up. And rightly so. The price is right, the service is great and so is the location. Thanks for the wonderful experience.

The staff was not friendly. The wifi was spotty, I couldn't work remotely. The bed sheets were old and paper thin, the bottom/contour sheet had holes in it. I can't comment on the kitchen because 2 guests took it over from 6pm to 9:30pm both nights I was there. Moved to a different hostel after 2 nights there. The place gave me a bad vibe.

Diana who owns this hostel is absolutely fabulous. So friendly and helpful, going beyond our expectations to enable us to book accommodation in Palenque. The hostel is small and very well located with a lounge, TV with Netflix, table tennis and pool table. So plenty to keep you amused. The tours were better priced here and overall very good.

We had a wonderful stay at Hostal Casa Gaia. Thank you so much to Diana for her kindness, attention to detail, and creating such a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Highly recommended this hostal- one of our best hostal experiences yet!

What an amazing stay at Casa Gaia! Our hosts Gustavo and her daughter Diana were very welcoming, friendly and accommodating. They made us great recommendations to visit the surroundings. The rooms are comfortable and can be cleaned when you need. You always have hot water which is nice considering the low temperature at night in San Cristóbal. There are different sitting areas in the garden/patio which enable to rest and chill in the sun. The kitchen has everything you need to cook and there is enough space to store your food. The house is located very close to the center but in a more quiet area. There is everything you need nearby (laundry, pharmacies, veggies and fruit stores, restaurants, clothes stores, local market...). There are also a billard and a tennis table to occupy your free time. We thank Gustavo again for his hospitality and the parties until late with the other guests. Thank you for the great memories!

We spent five days in Hostal Casa Gaia, It was a great experience, the staff is amiable, and we had good times with Gustavo, the owner. The room is cosy and well decorated, the prices are also accessible, and the breakfast is tasty and come in a significant portion. The shared bathroom is also cleaned many times a day and offer quick hot water. Overall we warmly recommend staying in this hostel.

We stayed for a week at casa gaia. It was a perfect stay for us as a couple who wanted a mix between hostel lifestyle and privacy without loud parties and inconsiderate people. The family was very kind and accommodating, willing to help with any of our needs (bonus for the super cute dog-cooper). The accommodations are clean, quiet, comfortable with hot water (which is difficult to find in Sancristobal), and clean shared kitchen. Great places to relax indoors or outdoors and enjoy some of the activities (ping-pong, TV, and billards). It felt like home with perfect location to explore the area. Highly recommended, would love to stay for longer or on next visit here!!! Thank you Diana, Jackie, and everyone during our stay 😊

A very special place. This is a warm and welcoming hostel run by a young family who know hospitality. We intended to stay for a week but ended up staying more than 3 weeks it's so wonderful. The location is near to/in the center and great for doing your daily shopping or eating out. The hostel has lovely funny dogs and a wonderful garden for relaxing, that humming birds! visit. They have a well equipped kitchen where people cooked, chatted and shared recipes and food. Hot water all day, good wifi. The owners know everything about everything San Christobal, Chiapas and beyond and are always helpful. Thanks to the atmosphere created by the family, we made new friends and chatted the evenings away with extraordinary people.
