We took our family that just flew in from Germany to take in these beautiful views. They loved it. A lot of people where there. The views are stunning. Weather wise was perfect for the hike. Parking is $25 and the line seemed to move extremely slow. But it’s definitely worth going. But I believe there is parking outside if you are lucky and patient enough to keep driving around.

Spectacular, amazing and stunning views!!! If you are visiting SD or haven’t visited this place yet, this is a must! When you get to the top there are few hiking trails with different miles to choose. The most popular is Beach trail which brings you down to the beach and walk you straight to your car😃 Parking next to the park is hard and can take you time but it’s not impossible sometimes we do have those lucky times. There is a lot of parking around maybe 0.50m away or you can pay 20$ parking for the day😜

I didn’t purchase tickets online and it cost me $15 at the gate for a daily pass. I went on a Monday morning and there were plenty of parking spaces once inside the gate. All of the trails are pretty short and moderate. My favorite one was the Razor Point trail. Great views of the cliff side and a nice 180 degree view of the shore. The Parry Grove trail was also a good one. Spent about 2 hours in the park and was able to do most of the shorter trails. Beautiful blue water down here compared to LA.

I loved this area. It was very peaceful. We lucked out and didn’t have to pay for parking but there are paid parking spots. There is a beach below that has a good amount of stretch. However, on top you’ll get these spectacular views that are unmatched. It wasn’t very crowded when we went either. This was one of the reasons why I love this city so much. Beautiful weather, perfect temperature, and that nice cool breeze. Wear sturdy sneakers when going down. Bring a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.

Torrey Pines State Reserve has some of my favorite hiking near San Diego proper. The landscape is amazing with the vast amounts of erosion and shrubs in the area surrounding the beach. I love taking the west overlook and taking the trails down to the beach from exploring in that area. Get there early since parking fills up fast. This is a great place for a quick day hike!

Loved this place, weather was gorgeous for a long hike. Beautiful beach (if you want to walk or swim), amazing views, plenty of trails choose from with varied difficulties and length. Free parking along the road side, or pay $ per car, hard to find the free parking. Very well maintained beautiful place, bring water and wear a good shoe, if you are planning for full length. Trails are well marked, we took full round, you can stop at each point and enjoy the view. Try to go in early morning, you might get free parking, also very less people. Most of the people won’t take the entire loop, walk and enjoy the sound of crashing waves, the mist, absolutely a very good place for the family, no pets allowed..

Awesome experience...... Excellent nice super. Lean beach. I went to south side parking.... Parking fee is USD 20 for entire day..... You just walk towards flat Rock on more down south ..... It's a scenic spot for photoshoot, saw people are catching fish as well.... One museum is located up to the hill, you can drive up there. Restrooms are pretty clean compare to other beaches..

This is a gorgeous place to visit. There's the ocean, beautiful vegetation and awesome cliffs. Also when I was there some F22s flew overhead which was a real treat to see in San Diego. Not too much cover from the sun, but the breeze is great. For the most part the trail is not too tough, but there is a spot with stairs that is pretty steep. It's $15 to park in the lot, but it's free to access the trail if you park someplace else. I can't believe it took me so long to get on this trail. I will definitely make it a regular location for me to explore.

Great trails and views. Well worth it to check out and stretch your legs on some of the trails. Definitely have good footwear and be ready for some uneven terrain, and elevation. Recommend paying the entrance fee to drive up and park at the top, it will save your energy for walking down the scenic trails versus hiking up the roadway to save a few bucks.

Beautiful location to hike in cliffs and look over some breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and white sandy beaches. There are literally dozens of trails from beginner to challenging fitness levels. Bring a water and a snack and enjoy on a sunny day! You can hike or walk sandy beaches.

Torrey pines is a very beautiful reserve. It has bluffs along the coast you can look out over into the ocean, and some that look out over the city. Very relaxing, kind of a choose your own adventure type of hike. Following the trails to the bottom there is a very scenic beach to walk along that returns you to the beginning. As well there were lots of neat aircraft flying around.

It’s beyond beautiful!! You should definitely pay the $20 parking fee and drive to the top to begin your journey. There are about six trails and I hiked all of them. Spent about three hours with a good workout and amazing fun! Highly recommend if you’re nearby.

This state Park is amazing, never gets old. I don't mind paying a $20 fee to park at the gate, well worth it. Great customer service, clean trail, clean beach and plenty restroom... Loll... Please note, no dogs aloud, but again it is a great experience... A little over 2 miles if you take the beach pathway or over 4 miles if you decide to walk up to the beach then go back up towards "the road" or Torrey pines lodge. They have done an incredible job by adding a new trail and fixing the stairs going down the beach. 5 star hike by the water.

Nice hike with ocean views. We parked just before the entrance to the park and had a short uphill walk to start the hike. The trail was clearly marked and could be done in a loop, or you can finish the hike on the beach and walk back to the parking lot. We opted the beach route so we did not have to back track. We didn’t see any snakes but saw a spider that was capable of eating a small child.

I love this State Natural Reserve hike! It’s definitely worth it to walk all the way down to see the beach. It’s a bit of a walk, probably around 5-7 miles of hiking. You can start from the Torrey pines golf course and finish at the Torrey Pine beach if you wanted too. The scenery is amazing and the views are gorgeous! I highly recommend people to hike this trail. It’s mainly flat until to get to the beach part.

An absolute gem. Visitor center closed during lockdown, but trails are open. Best place to park is the big lot at Carmel Valley rd. Other than high tide times, it is possible to hike from the beach to the preserve and see great views. Hikes are all easy and kid friendly. Good restrooms at the entrance by the beach, but only porta potties at the top of the hill (while the visitor center is closed).

Beautiful state Park for hiking regardless of your fitness level. Beautiful trails through woody and arid areas with amazing views over the whole San Diego shoreline. Many nice places to take a short break and sit down. One trails ends up to beach access and there is a small visitor center showing the native species. Worth a half day or day visit. Also no entrance fee.

It’s a great spot to visit in San Diego. It combines both mountainous area and the almighty Pacific Ocean. The views are spectacular and it’s a great place to visit. The landscape and erosion makes gives this park it’s natural beauty. There is no place like Torrey Pines because it’s really unique and all forces have come together to create this marvelous landscape. It’s a must see if you are close by. Of course there can be traffic and even long lines. It’s California, and everyone can be a maniac no way around this. Parking is not cheap either but you can hike if you like and try to park far. I parked by the south beach lot for $15.

Pros: 🌳Location: Torrey Pines State Reserve is situated in San Diego County, offering a beautiful natural setting. 🌼 🌿Rare Torrey Pine trees and approximately 350 species of diverse plants provide an opportunity to appreciate nature. 🌲 🏛️The visitor center and museum provide informative resources to enhance understanding of the environment. 🏞️ 🏃‍♂️Various hiking trails are available for walking, running, and jogging enthusiasts. 🚶‍♀️ Cons: 🚫Do not disturb or collect natural features. 🌱 🚭Smoking and open flames are prohibited. 🔥 🙏Visitor cooperation is essential to protect nature and its plants. 🌍

Great, short hikes to few beautiful view points Fresh air, great views of Torrey pines Beach, Pacific ocean, valleys, mountains, cactus trees and much more. Wow what an amazing coastal park in La Jolla. Beautiful, breathtaking sceneries of the pacific oceans, and lot of winding cliffs. A lot of hiking trails both easy and hard. The park is huge about 2000 acres. The Reserve was designated a National Natural Landmark in 1977. Parking is free if you can find a parking spot near the entrance of the park along N.Torrey Pines Road. Otherwise if you enter the park there’s a $15 fee per car.

Drive up to the top of the hill. Spend a few minutes with the docents. It is always fun to learn some new things. Then take a picture of the map and follow their route. Logistics: day use/parking is $15 (without any passes). Drive up the hill and park to avoid hiking up the street. Then you can hike 3-4 miles on trails. There are modern toilets at the lower parking lot and very clean port-a-pots at the top of the hill. Water both places; consider a water bottle. Out of shape or very young kids may find the hike challenging. We saw cool succulents, lizards, one snake and the ocean/fun scenery. Enjoy!

One of the most amazing spots in San Diego County with beautiful trails and stunning views. Watch the most spectacular sunsets, while dolphins are chasing the waves below. Intricate sandstone shapes created by the water and wind give this park a unique charm and the indigenous plants and flowers are an attraction of their own. Walk all the way down to the beach and enjoy the waive-carved colorful rocks. To avoid paying for parking and admission, park across from the golf course and walk to the park. Portable toilets are available and are always kept nice and clean. Don't leave San Diego without visiting Torrey Pines!

Beautiful beach park with lots of trails to walk around on. Going down to the beach is a bit challenging as there's more than 100 steps, but shouldn't be too much of an issue. Just note that the next beach over is a nudist beach so you might see some naked people

This was a fun little day hike. Ended up walking 2.8 miles through some trails a few hills and then brought you down to the beach. Where are you finished a hike back to the parking area. When we started, it was pretty overcast, but by the time we got back to the parking area, it had burned off and was pretty nice. I would consider this an easy hike, but there are a few challenges with some stairs and a couple hills.

Oh just wow! Miles of roped trails that people walk, hike, jog and run. Most of the trails run along the stepped finger terraces leading to the ocean. We took a path that leads directly down to a smooth cobble beach and enjoyed the crashing waves and cool salty breezes. At least one time I got a peek of one of the infamous Torrey Pines Golf Course. Visiting the park ranger office was a treat. I got to meet an interesting male volunteer and we had a good chat about how the Torrey Pines grow and especially about the local geology! Worth the stop.

Want to do the most scenic hike near the ocean? Torrey Pines State Reserve is where it's at. This place has an abundance of beauty and has trails to satisfy most skill levels. The hike we did today was Broken Hill and that takes you down all the way to the ocean. We even spotted dolphins playing near the shore. The way up is obviously more physically demanding but from the golf course, which is where we started and down to the bottom and back up and to the car was about an hour and 20 minutes. We parked across the street from Torrey Pines lodge. If you prefer to park on premises it's $15. I just can't justify the parking fee for a 4 mile hike. You can tailor the hike to your needs and it can be as short as 3 miles and as many as 9. You do you. Just make sure you wear a mask. Enjoy the unspoiled beauty of this place and its comforting serenity.

Beautiful beach and bluffs! To add to the beauty are multiple hikes at the reserve on top of the cliffs. Free roadside beach parking is available along with flat rate paid parking. The hike also takes you all the way down to the beach from the bluffs! Nothing beats this any day!

Short trails and a longer beach trail to the beach driving to the top of the park, where there is parking. views looking North all the way to Dana Point and South to La Jolla. You can park down below and walk to the top which will give you more of a work out. Torrey Pines are unique to this Park and an island off the coast. No dogs or mountain bikes allowed which I find refreshing for walkers.. But go south of here at the border of Solana and Del Mar and your dogs can run free without leashes and swim in the ocean at Dog Beach right across from the racetrack.

The Torrey Pines State Reserve contains the only place in the world (and Santa Rosa Island) where the Torrey Pine Trees grow naturally. If you drive into the reserve or park at the nearby Torrey Pines Beach Parking lot, you will pay a fee. There is free parking on the street parking on the right just before entering the park from the north but these spots fill up quick. There are no dogs allowed, no drones, and no food or drink allowed in the reserve except water. There are restrooms near the Torrey Pines Beach Parking lot as well as near the Beach Trailhead once inside the park. I did hike most of the trails at the reserve. Some of the best scenery is near the water where the bluffs are. There are plenty of vista/lookout points around and some trails contain many steps going up/down so plan accordingly. The Torrey Pine trees were not all that appealing to look at but after learning about them at the visitor center I now have a deeper appreciation for these wonderful and rare trees which were at one point on the brink of destruction. I highly recommend stopping by the visitor center where there are exhibits about the wildlife and plant life that live in the reserve as well as videos about the history of the area. I am sure if you visit this place, you will truly enjoy yourself as i did. Pictures don't lie!

This is a fun place to walk. There are lots of small routes and all are not difficult. Always many people here. Just make sure you know when it’s high tide before you take the route along the beach because at high tide there may not be enough path left between the sea and the cliffs. Parking is available for $15 within the park but if you’re lucky you can find a spot just before entering the park which is free.

Beautiful place to visit with lots of options for walking trails. There are more advanced trails and easier trails. It's a pretty steep hike to get up to the trails, so I definitely recommend driving up and then hiking vs hiking from the entry. Entry costs $15 per vehicle on weekdays and is well worth it. There is limited parking and a restroom at the end of the road. We hiked the easier loop by the first parking area. Very beautiful. There are very helpful volunteers at the top by the restroom to give recommendations on the hiking trails fit for you.

The Torrey Pines trail hike in San Diego was an absolute delight. Nestled beside the scenic beach, the trail offered breathtaking views that took my breath away. The rugged cliffs, the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean, and the vibrant coastal flora created a picturesque backdrop for the entire journey. The trail was well-maintained, making the hike enjoyable for both beginners and experienced hikers. The cool breeze from the ocean and the soothing sound of the waves provided a calming ambiance throughout the hike. I was particularly impressed by the diversity of the landscape, from sandy paths to rocky terrains, offering a varied hiking experience. The sighting of local wildlife, including birds and plants unique to the region, added an extra layer of charm to the adventure. Overall, the Torrey Pines trail hike was a memorable experience, perfect for nature enthusiasts and anyone looking to escape into the serenity of the coastal wilderness.

It’s just gorgeous! The view is stunning! I think it’s the best state park in CA. The guided tour is a must have if you are first time visitor. We really enjoyed the two-hour ( it’s supposed to be one hour) tour guided by Gary. He’s so knowledgeable and made the tour such a pleasure. This park is a pure gem which is so special and unique in Southern California. It recalls me of those beautiful coastal areas in Northern California. It’s a must go in Southern California.

Visited this park on Jan 1st. Parked inside, there were plenty of parking spots inside @9.30am. there were a lot of people. We did almost all of it including the smaller loops inside except for the coastal trail. By the time we reached the coastal part it was nearing high tide and we thought of not doing it and returned. From one lookout in the Guy Fleming Grove, we saw multiple pods of dolphins! It's my first time seeing dolphins. Torrey pines are also a highlight here along with many other native plants. Must do while in SD.

Torrey Pines is very picturesque and a great place to watch the sunset. There are a number of nicely maintained, but narrow trails through the reserve that have many worthwhile views to catch. If you can get to the beach at lowtide, all the better. Try to eat beforehand, you can't bring food into the reserve.

This is a popular place! We were dropped off easily, but parking looked difficult. We walked up the road to the trailheads with a crowd, but then things thinned out and felt less congested. We ended up sitting on the rocky beach long enough to watch a couple pods of dolphins swim by. The views were incredible even on a semi gray day.

Great spot for beautiful scenic views and a easy casual hike. Arrive earlier in order to be able to walk on the beach on low tide. Or wear shoes you wouldn’t mind getting wet later in the day during high tide. We went there around 2:30pm and were able to walk on the rocks to avoid the waves. Most importantly, don’t forget to stop and take in the views :)

There are both hiking trails above the cliffs and a nice long strip of beach for walking. Nothing too difficult. I'd say there is something for everyone. Free off-street parking along the beach is available, but requires either luck or patience. There is a paid lot too ($10?) with public restrooms. I like to take out of town visitors here who want to do something active and also enjoy the beach. It's a win-win. Did I mention the sunsets????

You can spend a whole weekend here! This is a great spot for everyone as there are many things to do: beach is beautiful, though small and busy. There are many trails, some easy, some strenuous. I love the wetlands; if you have kids is great...mine were so thrilled to see herons and other birds. Be prepared for a busy, busy location. Free parking is minimal but there are, at least, two paid parking lots and paid parking along the road.

Excellent spot to go hiking or catch some sun on the beach. Getting there earlier is better as parking on the beach side fills up quick. Plenty of hikes to choose from. Most popular has to be the beach hike. This will take you up a steep hill then down to the sands of the beach.

We went on the evening to see the sunset. The trails are very easy. There is always a lot of crowd. Definitely recommend this place.

With their overarching desire for control over and shaming of others finally sated by a TDS-friendly election result, our overlords have decreed that this beautiful state park, benefitting from sun, wind, and salty breezes, and frequented almost entirely by healthy, non-obese, younger humans, might be safe once again for those who would like an aerobic beatdown in the form of a long uphill hike punctuated by shrubbery and views of cliffs, the ocean, several breaks, and the sun its majestic glory. Parking here is always a nightmare as freaks line up their cars to try to slide into the next spot that opens up. If you're willing to walk a ways, you can often find a spot up the street on the coast highway that runs north-south or in the lower lot across the highway directly northeast of the highway parking. Regardless of how you do it, make sure you pay the meter or you're likely to get a ticket. Also, check the closing time for the lower lot. If your car is still in the lot when it closes, you could be SOL. A beautiful spot for hiking, surfing, (limited good breaks but no one to fight for them, so you won't get punched in the 'nads if you're a kook), and sunset watching. Early in the morning, there is parking and no crowds, though you may have to hold your breath if the "big truck" is there flushing excrement from the bathrooms, which occurs two or three mornings a week.

Beautiful rocky shoreline. Parking is currently $15, per day but worth it.

Jumping jack flash of a day at the pines, beautiful view 5 miles with the wife and kids . Fauna that you wouldn’t expect and more. Get out and bust it.

    Beautiful Beach

The quality of enjoyment has drastically gone down in the 24 years of coming here. Easy 5 starts if it wasn't for the crowds and the (understandly because of the extra impact of crowds) rope-in pathways. Looks like half of the Torry pines trees are receding due to bark beetles of drought. The dead trees are kinda stark, but I still appreciate the beautiful natural erosion in the canyon, native plants, and high cliffs along the ocean

Multiple points to view the Pacific ocean. Trails are kids friendly. It usually gets very busy over the weekends. You can drive your car up to the visitor center after paying a fee.

Wow! Just Wow! Postcard views on an amazing hike along the cliffs overlooking the ocean. Easy, well marked trails and the view is unlike anything I've seen before!

Great views and fun trails. The trails aren’t super long but not much shade. I’m glad we were able to visit in a weekday as the area isn’t very big and the trails are on the narrow side.

We take Connect English students here at least twice a year. They are never disappointed. Just pay for parking. Embrace it. You're paying the stewards of California's amazing state parks to do their amazing work. And then enjoy.

Traveled here in June, when it was super overcast. It’s a fantastic beach, especially for a photographer looking for multiple types of location spots (sandy beach, rocky shores, etc.). I recommend going earlier in the morning because the parking lot can fill up. Restrooms were clean and the beach, overall, is well taken care of. Trash cans are available nearby.

Nice park, but not a must see. If have some limited time in LA/San Diego - you can skip this one. Especially if you are not much of a hiker. We saw a lot of people who come there to jog and run in the morning, read a book in the park, do a longer hike - mostly locals. Go here if you got about 2 hours of free time and you feel like hiking. Go in the morning - it’s easy to park and not crowded to walk.

Amazing hike. you can park at the bottom of the climb and or by the beach, or drive up to the top. at various points there are various trails that are all beautiful. we went through the razor trail the yukka trail and the beach trail which led all the way down. the views through the entire hike was amazing and the beach walk leading back to the parking area was also perfect. would definitely recommend this to everyone, wasn't an intense hike at all

Beautiful Hike at Torrey Pines. I did not use the designated parking area $20 or the Coaster $15. I parked in the neighborhood and walked 15 minutes (free) to the trailhead... the hike out and back varies depending on where you park or which trail you decide to take. It goes from 2.2 miles up to 5-6 miles. Enjoy 👱‍♀️🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️🧢👟

Nice area to hike. Scenic areas. Not "wild". Trails are well traveled

I absolutely love it here, it's a great place to break from studying. Pretty easy hike, I see families doing it all the time, and the beach is gorgeous. Just be careful, sometimes the waves and ride can get pretty intense and there isn't a lifeguard tower.

Drive in for an evening hike along the coast . Started at the visitor center and hiked to the beach, down around the corner towards Black Beach, then back up to Red Yucca, over to Razor Back, then back to the park lot. Trails were busy but not crowded, it was a little cool today. Great sunset hike, flowers were blooming.

This is an awesome state park. Lots of great trails, viewpoints, beaches. Razor point trail is awesome. There is a $20 fee to enter by car and park in any of several lots but we felt it was worth it. Some people park outside the park and walk about a mile to try he top of the hill. We paid the fee and drove to the lot up top which gave us more time on the beautiful trails. Also it supports the care of the park. We willl definitely return to this park.

One of the best state parks I have ever been to. So much to do and so many trails to hike. Absolutely beautiful. Amazing place to take friends and family. Highly recommend.

Excellent hiking trails! Due to having small children we opted to pay the $25 to park at the parking lot at the top of the hill and walk down from there to the beach instead of trying to find free parking and walking up the hill. FYSA, they do not accept a military discount or the national parks pass. There are bathrooms at the top and bottom of the hill although the top bathrooms were closed and they just had porta potties. The beach trailer was about 2 miles round trip and takes you down the beach. We were able to do it with our small children without any issues. The path is fairly wide for most of the areas.

Some of the most stunning and beautiful views I have seen. Walked thru the trails and coast line mountains it is a hike but well worth it def would love to go back and experience more. A must see while in Southern California.

A really pretty beach with plenty of parking. You can spend the extra trying to parking the street or just pay in the parking lot. I believe it was $7 for 3-4 hours or $15 for the day. Doesn't look like a beach to surf at nor does it look like somewhere to have a big get together.. mote like a small group of friends or bring the little ones.

Stunning scenery overlooking the ocean. It's a great to place to get away from the hustle and bustle and reconnect with nature. You can't hear a car or trane or really see or hear much of any sign of humanity. They have trails for all experience levels and ages, even my 20 month old.

Very crowded on a Saturday morning but the crowds really dissipate after lunch. Recommend driving to the top of the mountain and then hiking around but you can do either - park at the bottom, hike up and back down (to the ocean) and back to your car OR just park at the top by the vision center and do quick hikes down and back up. We ended up going on almost all the trails and it's not terribly strenuous, there's mild elevation. I think the hardest part is sun coverage / shade after a while so bring sunscreen and a hat! We used a free/borrowed Public Library state pass.

Really nice natural reserve! Pretty busy on a Sunday morning but worth it for sure. We did the beach loop trail and walked from the north beach lot. It was around 4 miles and moderate difficulty. The views from the top are really wonderful and the terrain is cool. We went to yucca pt at the top and the view is beautiful. The cliffs along the beach on the way back are also really beautiful. We did see small debris falling so stay aware.
