Mission Beach Park was a lot to take in. It’s a really large area, and it has a lot to see crammed into it. It has the kind of vibe that makes you think you could come a different times of day and have entirely different experiences each time. I think I need to spend more time there.

Loved Misson Beach! I have been going to any of the beaches I could in California, but this one has so far been my favorite by far. It’s a lot easier to get close to the water and still be able to stay dry in a lot of areas all up and down the beach. They have a big open grass area to picnic, as well as gorgeous views anywhere you look! I had a awesome time here and will definitely be coming back many times in the future! If you haven’t been to Mission Beach yet you are missing out! 5/5 stars!!

What an amazingly beautiful beach. Come early for flawless shots of the roaring ocean waves. Be aware on certain days there are riptides and you can be dragged out to sea. The water was clear and the beach was clean. There were restrooms and shower stations not far from the shore and plenty of parking. Don’t bring dogs onto the beach though.

It was great. The water was beautiful. The beach was a little dirty. Trash and a few homeless people sleeping along side the buildings and walls. But So glad to be there!!

Awesome beach plenty of things to do and vendor's to shop from. It can be an all day experience in the area. Bathrooms are the same as pretty much any other beach bathroom but in witness worse.

One of the best / cleanest beaches we found in San Diego. Loved it. Great boardwalk further down from where we sat with shops and food too.

We took a stroll along the boardwalk after visiting Belmont Park. It's easy to park at the main lot and walk to the ocean. The boardwalk seems to go on forever. You could easily walk in one direction for 30 minutes. Great people watching, though there can be some shady characters. Beautiful sunset views

Getting to see the sunset over the ocean was a dream come true. Such a great place for family time or date night. The beach is so clean and everyone I met there was so friendly ❤️❤️

BIG! sites...the new section has extra large sites making it less crowded and more private. Very picturesque walking trails for people and dogs. Loved our stay there!

I love walking or riding along the beach early in the morning. And leaving at the same time that the crowd starts pouring in is a lot of fun too. It's so peaceful here Sunday mornings.

One of my favorite places in San Diego, coming here always feels like home. From bonfires, Belmont park, barbecue areas, the beach, bike path, and theres even live music most of the time. Parking can be hard to find and it can be crowded, which isnt a good thing during this pandemic times. Yet, there is ways to socially distance. Please wear a mask! You can still have a good time and be safe.

San Diego beaches do not disappoint, although they had just experienced pretty nasty freak waves A few days earlier, it was still an amazing walk for one end to the other. You can imagine that it wasn't overly busy, because of the time of year. Beautiful sunsets, amazing sand between the toes, and simply peace walking from end to end.

I grew up in mission beach park area. We had a great time growing up in this area and experiencing the great beaches. The nice people and the fundom usement park. The park is super clean and very inviting.

We visited during the first day of "Winter Wonder" and it was a great experience. Belmont Park, where the shops and numerous rides are located, has something to enjoy for every age group. For the rides, a one-day/all rides wristband runs you about $60, but you can pay $120 and come back for a year!! The beach is steps away, and there's an olympic-sized pool called The Plunge (pay for 2-4 hour session), a zipline (requires closed-toe shoes and parental consent) AND a rock climbing wall are all located within the Belmont Park area. These 3 are not included with the wristband price, but are not too expensive.

Nothing beats Mission Beach for Pacific Ocean splendor. Beware the stingrays that lurk in the sand in shallow water. Lifeguard stations are not all manned so you are on your own if you decide to enter the water in between manned stations. We saw a young man get stabbed by a stingray and it was brutal. He was in excruciating pain. Beware!!!!!!!!!!!

One of my favorite beach, a more active place with a great board walk, where you can ride bike, skate board; a place where you can see anything, and get good eats.

If you visit San Diego this Beach is a must. Soft sand, gentle waves, plenty of room. Parking is easy, plentiful and right next to the beach. Bars and restaurants really close by for when you need a rest from soaking up that SoCal sun

Nice beach. Black sand, very nice beach walking especially at low tide times. Not too crowded on weekdays and not terrible in weekends. Clean with little trash. Overall a nice Baja beach with parking right on the beach front which makes for easy delivery of goods if having a beach party.

The beach is beautiful. One of the best beaches I have seen in my travels. It was too cold to get in the water but we got to see some surfers out there. We ate at a restaurant and went to the arcade so the kids could play some games.

  • 4/5 Tomoya T. 1 year ago on Google
Really nice and chill vibes. A lot of eateries to choose from however, it's Very crowded especially riding a bicycle on here. I would definitely go back again but no bicycle for me next time- just chill on the beach or in the park.

Nice boardwalk reminds me of Coney-island as a kid . Positive energy and the water makes you feel amazing . I am considering moving here if I don’t move back to nyc full time

This is one of the most beautiful places on the whole entire planet. I have been coming here as a native person more by far than any other place in the whole entire county. It’s my home away from home and now it is my home. The park grounds are very well maintained by the city park’s dept. In the summertime it is very congested here. Manhattan doesn’t have a thing on Mission Beach in the summertime especially around Fourth of July. They say the population density is that of Manhattan during that time of year and pretty much in Pacific Beach it’s like that all the time. We get lots of visitors from all over the place and most friendly are the people from Texas and Arizona and Nevada. There are lots of things to do here but it is pretty strictly controlled by LE. There’s no smoking in the parks along the beaches and there are many rules against alcohol consumption and smoking, pets , parking, etc. and pretty much they are strictly enforced. It is very secure place and there are a lot of different branches of the government on patrol from Park rangers to police officers and city employees also the game warden checking for fishing licenses because fishing is very popular here. There is great surf, beautiful bays, jettys, piers, lots of sandy beaches, tons of water themed parks and adventures, boat rentals surf lessons, JetSki rentals, tours of the bay, and all sorts of different things for people to do…bicycling skateboarding rollerskating there’s a good night scene for people who like that. It is very congested here and despite the strong presence of law enforcement a lot of crime goes on unfortunately. DONT leave your bicycle unattended for any amount of time. Lock your vehicle and your room and don’t leave any doors open, don’t leave anything that you care about unattended, there are sticky fingers everywhere! I have learned this from experience and also from talking to lots of people and witnessing things right in front of my face! Because drinking has been curtailed in public that a lot of the more serious offenses have been reduced I would imagine but I still see people drowned, people get hit by cars, collisions between bikes and vehicles are never good! People are taking chances and having fun and flying by the seat of their pants and enjoying the California sunshine and for some reason it’s probably due to the large influx of humans during certain seasons but it’s unfortunate I’ve seen my fair share of dead bodies in the street, floating in the water, being scooped away by helicopters, and rescued by lifeguards shark attacks aren’t very common at all here I think there’s been to that I can think of that were someone actually died and that happens north of here. Do come enjoy the boardwalk and the roller coaster and the scenery and the sand and fishing and the beautiful people and don’t forget you’re gonna have to tolerate a lot of knuckleheads and poor parking actually parking it can get really bad so keep that in mind try not to let it bother you too much cause all things considered it’s beautiful here and we love visitors especially the ones from the Southwest like I said they’re super kind people and they seem to take care of our city like they live here so that’s nice.

Watched the sunset on the beach. The beach was large and clean. The park area is huge and surrounded by Belmont Park. Traffic was bad but once we got into the lot and circled around we were able to get a parking spot.

  • 5/5 V A S T I. 10 months ago on Google
I lime that they have bathrooms and showers. They have plenty of parking but it's a popular place so it gets full. A mom of 5, it's worth the wait for a spot in the parking lot.

  • 5/5 Hannah D. 10 months ago on Google
There’s plenty of parking at this beach (which I find rare in SD)! I always park at the lot closest to the beach, as people are in and out more often then the other spaces, I personally find it easier to wait for a spot. There’s also a shower and bathrooms available, as well as plenty of spots for food and rentals.

  • 3/5 Patti C. 9 months ago on Google
Life guards are great at the beach in information about high tides. Parking hard, we always drop off our stuff and park at the bay. The bathrooms are pretty gross. And the showers are almost all broken. Maybe 4 work. There are also people who come on the beach to sell stuff, which was a little annoying(bells ringing or being asked multiple times if I want to buy something.) The beach was clean and lots of people.

Beautiful and clean boardwalk and beach! The picnic area is great! Lots of nice shops and places to eat.

Visited this beach for a cleanup. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the beach is kept quite clean!! Thank you to all for keeping this beach clean 😀. Highly recommend for families, anyone with handicap needs its easy to get to and get around from parking and it is dog friendly. People play sports and there are locals playing music. Careful of the bicycles on the path/boardwalk.

I'm a travel nurse from St Louis. This is always Really nice and relaxing; I go about twice a week I can only imagine when everything is not on lock down, how wonderful it is. Social distancing, masks was not 100% and I didn't see alcohol sanitizing stations.... Furthermore, people just don't do right. I guess no one follows statistics of coronavirus numbers increasing in San Diego.

This used to be a very nice place to walk on the beach in the evening and enjoy the sights however, my most recent visit there, was absolutely the opposite. The overpowering smell of marijuana was everywhere in the parking lot, on the boardwalk and where the picnic tables are. With the covid-19 pandemic & the face covering required's to be worn in San Diego, I personally observed a number of people NOT wearing face coverings & not maintaining 6 feet apart at all times Also, I observed absolutely NO type of law enforcement present throughout the parking lot...

Property is walking distance to the boardwalk. The bikes came in handy. The property is perfect for 2. The bed is comfortable and communication with the owners was great.

the owner is always very friendly and hospitable to all. fair prices (and believe me, i have been around the block once or twice), good service, and stellar product. if you need something and he doesn’t have it on hand, he will make an order and let you know when it will be in stock.

I've lived in SD for 38 years and used the park and the board walk since I was 15 years old. My enjoyment has been greatly reduced by the city and the mayor allowing street venders to line every open space available to sent up stands of cheap trinkets. Thus blocking site lines to the ocean, narrowing all walk ways to the rest rooms, and creating a dangerous hazard for people using the boardwalk.

Great place to get away from the city. Calm steady waters. Perfect for a nice stroll, bike ride or even go out sail with several rentals to choose from. Great bars and restos around open late.

Our family loves to go to Mission Beach. Sometimes there seems to be more kelp and seaweed than we prefer, but all in all, it's our go to beach.

  • 4/5 Charlie T. 3 years ago on Google
Good place to check out the view of the water and also be outdoors. The spicy edamame was decent and had like a cajun flavour to it. The passion fruit drink was also good, but better when added a bit more soda water to it. Overall, a cool vibe and place to grab a drink and enjoy the peaceful views
