They have an entire vegan section on the menu. The food came out quickly and was so flavorful. A perfect balance of sweet and peanut made the Pad Thai perfect. Nice blend of veggies in the red curry too. We’ll definitely be back.

I loved it. We ordered the buffet for two and they brought all kinds of delicious dishes, honestly, they were all great and diverse. Great service. The place was beautiful but we decided to eat outside. I absolutely recommend and I hope I can come back soon.

I thought the food was decent, but my Thai wife overruled my opinion saying that it wasn’t authentic or delicious…. I’d say for the everyday diner, it’s a decent Thai food experience. If you’re looking for delicious and authentic Thai food, this may not be the place.

I'm visiting San Diego for the weekend and was looking for a peaceful place for a first dinner downtown. I was charmed by this restaurant. Quiet, very cozy, good food. Not only the decoration and atmosphere were lovely, but I also loved the waiters and waitresses, smiling , very polite, and charming. I recommend this place 👌

We came in Sunday afternoon, early dinner. Plenty of tables available. We were a tad bit skeptical at first. My companion ordered pineapple fried rice and rated it a 4,I ordered the red curry over Jasmine rice, I rate it 5. I enjoyed the music and atmosphere. Calm and chill.

Nice environment!!! The food was served pretty fast!!! The food was delicious! I loved their pineapple fried rice!!! The seafood was fresh!!! Love their shrimp!!! Highly recommend their catch of the day!!! But Tom Kha soup was not very good, too salty!! The service was okay! They charged $1 for hot water per cup without asking first!!

The best Thai food I've ever had (haven't been to Thailand yet though). I had the red curry, spice level 7 with only veggies. Phenomenal! Didn't skimp on the flavor, spice or vegetable variety. One serving made two of us full. It's definitely worth the price. Also, my friend left her phone by accident on a busy night and the staff held it for her without being prompted, so when we came back to get it, they already had it safe for her. Excellent customer service. Clean. Even the decor is nice. I highly recommend this place. The presentation was great both visits...so much so that I ate the food before taking a photo!

Thai food is always a vegetarian's pleasure because they always seem to have the sort they don't necessarily have to put some meat in there but they do and usually tastes delicious. This Thai restaurant on the other hand upscale neighborhood I like the environment than the atmosphere as soon as you come in there very welcoming nice smiles just as Thai people. The restaurant was real interesting I didn't get a chance to look at the restroom but the looks of it I think it was pretty good. The food could have been better I really enjoyed enjoy the fried rice. Although I didn't take pictures of the fried rice because after that long walk finding this place is too hungry to take the picture. LoL.. I love it though

It takes a lot for me to write a bad review but our experience warrants it. Based on the other positive reviews I have to believe this may just have been an off day. The experience started our with poor service; we waited an inordinate amount of time waiting for someone to wait on us. I finally got the attention of the one waitress but she signaled just a minute and then disappeared. Finally the host left his post and took our order. The food did come out quickly and was hot. Sadly it was the least flavorful Thai food I’ve ever eaten - and Thai food is supposed to be all about great flavors. Both the Pad Thai and the Panang curry were bland; almost seemed watered down. If we weren’t so hungry we most likely would have left. The only positive I can say is the decor is well executed creating a very inviting space, sadly food and service weren’t up to the same level of sophistication.

Delicious food and great looking food! I do wish there was a little more if the of the Pad Thai itself. There were also three pieces of tofu in addition to the chicken I ordered.

Food was fresh and very flavorful. The staff was courteous and friendly. Nicely decorated and very family oriented, definitely one of the nicest locations in the gaslamp district.

Warning: will try to overcharge and trick you into tipping 45%!!! Food was very bland, ordered the cashew nut stir fry and asked for it spicy, but it had no spice at all. But even worse is their incredibly dishonest tipping practice: When you get the bill they do not give you an itemized receipt. I only asked for one since I was dining with friends and we had to figure out how to split the bill over Venmo. They added an 18% automatic gratuity (for a party of 4!) and the unitemized receipt had a suggested tip of 15% of the amount of subtotal + tax + automatic gratuity. In total, their suggested MINIMUM tip was 45% of our bill. Absolutely shameful scam.

Went a couple of days ago and the food was good. Their Pad Thai had vegan options and I was pretty amused by how amazing it tasted. I would say the highlight was my iced Thai tea and it was delicious! I would recommend this place to anyone who is a fan of Thai food.

Stopped here to get food to-go on the way to the hotel. The Pineapple Curry had amazing flavor, although I should have definitely paid for the extra vegetables. Wife had sweet and sour tofu, loved it. Pick up was a little difficult because the restaurant was packed, but it is hard to fault a restaurant for being so good that they have a line out the door on a random Monday. We already have plans to pick up more next time we visit San Deigo.

The restaurant itself isn't fancy, but the decor is clean & comfortable and the service is swift & sure. You don't need to know much about Burmese/Chinese/Thai cooking; there are plenty of Chinese and Thai dishes on the menu that you'll recognize, if you need something familiar. But don't stop there. We started with the Tea Leaf Salad, an incredible potpourri of tangy/salty/sweet flavors and tender/juicy/crunchy textures. Who knew iceberg lettuce could host such a flavorful combo? I'd have been happy to keep eating that for an hour! Following that were the amazingly tender Pork Curry, tangy & intriguing Shrimp and unexpectedly interesting Burmese-Style Fried Rice. All offered flavors of incredible depth; the curry and the shrimp were bathed in beautifully silky, perfectly spiced sauces. I'm not exaggerating: we wanted to lick the plates. (I would have...but we were celebrating my sweetheart's birthday and I didn't want to embarrass him.)

i dont really see the hype but we came here during lunch bec. we're craving for rice dishes coming from the beach. we ordered: CRAB FRIED RICE - there was a lot of veges in it. If i wanted fried rice, i'd just go for the rice and skip the rest. SEAFOOD STEAMER - the presentation looks, meh! it looks messy, i mean its just different fish dishes thrown in there with veges on it. doesnt look appealing, we barely ate the food. OODLES OF NOODLES - so glad this wasnt really greasy and the pork was cooked great, but nothing special. overall, i dont think i wont be coming back, bec. first of all i dont live in san diego, their food presentation doesnt please me. the service was good though, theyre really accommodating but thats it.

I ate here multiple times while in town for a convention, getting a different curry dish each time. All of them had great flavor and heat level. If you're not used to Thai spice, order a lower number. I enjoy a little heat and 5/6 was perfect

Bahn is a great maitre’d! Very welcoming. Their Thai Tea is awesome! I ordered the Cashew Nut & Chicken meal. Great flavor. And love their unique, casual, cozy, classy ambiance.

The food here was okay (I got veggie pad Thai). It didn’t have a lot of flavor and was kind of on the expensive end, I think $17. They do have the full Thai menu, but interestingly if you order alcohol you are actually purchasing it from the restaurant next door, they even have the drinks menu for that restaurant. The staff were pleasant, but not overly attentive, we had to ask multiple times to get water refills, although that might have been a tactic to get us out of the door as there was a line of people waiting for tables. Overall average.

I'm in San Diego for the weekend and was seeking a serene spot for my first dinner downtown. I was captivated by this restaurant. It's quiet, incredibly cozy, and the food is excellent. Beyond the delightful decor and atmosphere, the waitstaff is wonderful—smiling, very polite, and charming. I highly recommend this place! 👌

Walked here from Marriott Marquis one night after conference to catch a break from conference food. Had the Drunken Noodle with combo meats. Great flavor. Very trendy décor, didn't hang out there for too long.

A large vegan menu. I loved vegan vegetable delight with tofu and brown rice. Will try a curry next time, Efficient courteous service. A short walk from the Convention Center. Recommended.

My wife and I love thai food. So we walked in on Thursday lunch time. Place was pretty empty. Nicely greeted and sat down at a good sized table. The restaurant offered a 'lunch menu' or order off the full menu. I asked the server their favorite choice on the lunch menu. She suggested the Thai basil. It was amazing! Perfect lunch portion.

I ordered the Tom Kai soup and Sab Lai appetizer. Cute decor and pleasure atmosphere. The soup lacked depth and underwhelming. Nothing spectacular about the food. Three out of three stars.

  • 5/5 Taylor G. 6 months ago on Google
Incredibly underrated option for delicious Thai food in the Gaslamp district. While attending a large conference for work, my party needed a lunch spot and didn’t love the incredibly long lines at so many of the options closer to the convention center. This place was absolutely worth the extra 5 min walk. Service was great, the atmosphere was cozy, and the food was just amazing. We enjoyed a variety of curries this time and would come back without hesitation to try more. Overall, very good, affordable, and less crowded option in a very busy part of town. Don’t skip out!

  • 4/5 Jody T. 11 months ago on Google
Staff were great here. Atmosphere was also very nice. I feel like there could have been a bit more flavor to the foods but overall it was a great time. I would recommend and return to eat here.

The food here is excellent! I ordered chicken curry, and it had a wonderful flavor. The atmosphere is inviting, and the staff is very friendly. Food service was fairly quick as well. I will come back when I am in San Diego again.

I was looking for some vegetarian and vegan food in the gaslamp street San Diego. To hey had plenty of tasty vegan food at comparable price. Although I was looking for something spicy but most of the food were sweet. For entree vegan fried dumplings with peanut sauce was delicious. Mang ok lemonad Drink was misleading at it has only mango flavour not real mango. Noodles was fine as well.

  • 5/5 Jasmine W. 1 year ago on Google

Food was amazing, flavor from the Tom Yum and Panama Curry was delicious. Loved the duck, and I don’t really like duck so, that says a lot.

I'm visiting from out of town and wanted to find a vegan option near Petco park before a Padres game. I did not want a veggie dog. I stepped in and I figured it would be pricy based on the decor but it was very reasonable. They have a vegan section in the pack of the menu. The veggie tempura was not bad but was much heavier than I have eaten in a while since it was deep fried. At first I thought the tofu pad Thai was going to be a bust, but after it cooled a bit the flavor really came out and it was delicious.

Pot stickers were too good, Drunken noodles was delicious and Panang curry was fab too. Really good quantity for the price.

  • 5/5 Brianna K. 1 year ago on Google
This was my first time at a Thai restaurant and the waiter was so nice! He gave me some recommendations and helped me pick out the best level of spicy for me. Since I like it spicy he also brought out extra sauces in case I wanted it spicier. Definitely recommend going there!

I love how many vegan options Sab Lai Thai has! I tried the cashew nut dish which was yummy. Definitely recommend going medium spice over mild. Also got the veggie tempura which got a little soggy by the time I got to eat it (still tasty though.) the sauce that came with the tempura is bomb. Recommend for sure.

Pricey $29 (w/ tax) for Chicken Pad Thai; a cup of Tom Kha; and a Thai Tea. Above average chow. The mushrooms in the Tom Kha were different but delicious. Good service, cozy environment -- although cold inside due to windows still be open at night.

Cockroaches on table (photo attached and review below mine agrees). Sewer flies in bathroom. Do you think they can fly to the kitchen? Portions are TINY (don't listen to the other reviews) because the food is propped up by salad. Rip off.

Had dinner at this place. Good food. Nice ambience. The food was on the less spicy side unlike other Thai restaurants. Apparently the place was open until 3AM!

  • 5/5 Paulina G. 4 years ago on Google
We accidentally stumbled upon this gem. The fact that they have a full section in the menu dedicated to vegan options was legendary. We waited in line outside as it was jam packed. Definitely worth the wait. I ordered the Thai Vegan spring rolls & the Vegan Green Curry and added tofu. The green curry was spectacular! I chose an 8 spiciness on the 1-10 scale and it delivered.the spring rolls were really good but they were fried so of course they were. I’d maybe choose a different appetizer next time to switch it up but I’d definitely get the curry over & over again. Prices were not bad for San Diego + being in the Gaslamp district. Nice decor and great ambiance. Friendly staff. Shout out to Lanthom for her attention and recommendations for Thai food back in Texas!

  • 2/5 Rock R. 3 years ago on Google
Meh! I was hungry and this was edible. This is mediocre at best and does not feel or taste authentic. I wouldn’t recommend it but to be fair that’s how I feel about most of the food I’ve tried in the Gaslamp District thus far. For reference we had drunken noodles (hard noodles), crab fried rice and Tom yum soup.

Super good food! My wife got the Tai Basil Beef and I got the Panang Curry chicken. Both were amazing. I might have gone mild on the heat because the Panama was HOT! It was still great, though. Also, your food might taste a bit Irish. You'll understand if you eat here. :,-)

1st time trying this place we ordered the mock satay, veggie pad thai, shrimp pad thai, Tim Ka, Thai tea and mango sticky rice. Sad to say the only good thing was the tea and even that was what ever, with tip our total came to just under $70.00 and was not worth it at all wish we didn't do pick up cause I would have taken a bit and left the place. We ended up not finishing our food and grabbing something else closer to our hotel.
