I wanted to like HIVE a lot, but I just couldn’t after my friends’ and I’s experience there. I booked 3 weeks in advance, but when we showed up, we were put into a room with no air conditioning. I really hate inconveniencing staff on busy nights, but the room was ABSURDLY hot, and the room across from us had nobody and no incoming people for the 2 hours we spent singing. When we asked if we could please have the room, we were told it was booked - Which is odd, because… Nobody was there, the whole time (photo attached). We also requested water which wasn’t delivered to us multiple times. All in all, I was charged $144 for an experience in which our room was equivalent to a sauna and we were not given what we asked for, and as much as I wanted HIVE to be my go to karaoke spot in San Diego, I just can’t do so. I wish I had my money back.

Food is good. Mostly fried chicken and fries. English song selection is limited. Parking is hard to find. But we had fun. Ok to bring own cake for birthday celebration.

It’s a cool space with a lot of private karaoke rooms and decent food and drinks. Prices aren’t bad either. The parking lot is a bit small so sometimes parking is difficult. Also, they should make the English song selection much simpler or have clear instructions. There are many, many Korean songs and it can be confusing at times.

I was surprised that I actually like this place! I’m not a fan of the other rice chicken competitor in north county. But this one won me over. First off, it’s located inside HIVE. There was no one at the front table so I walked inside towards the bar. It’s best if you call in for your order to give at least 30 minutes. We got there in 20 minutes but from the time stamp of when I placed the call to the time on my receipt, it was 35 minutes. Parking here is really bad. It’s always packed and the spaces are tiny! We got the Spicy Soy and Sweet & Spicy. Honestly, it doesn’t look like the photo based on the color and it wasn’t spicy. Couldn’t really tell them apart but if I had to guess, one was slightly sweeter than the other. The Sweet & Spicy was like a wet sticky sauce and it was only at the bottom of the box so only parts of the chicken had the sauce. It wasn’t evenly distributed. Each box of chicken came with 4oz diced pickled radish. It doesn’t come with coleslaw like it says on the menu. The rice flour made it lighter, fluffier, crispier. Usually when it comes to Korean fried chicken, I’m done after two but I ate 3 and they were huge. We got the half. We also got Cajun Fries and tried 3 additional sauces. The honey garlic, sweet & spicy, and angry sauce. It’s 4oz for $2 or 2oz for $1. We got the latter. The fries were nothing special. For the sauces, I love the honey garlic because it reminds me of eating honey with American fried chicken.

I stayed here for a couple of hours with friends and had a good time but overall the experience could have been a little better. They had just updated their menu and our server wasn't very helpful with answering questions about the food. To me this shows poor training and isn't necessarily his fault. The bar area was nicely done but we were in a karaoke room. The room itself felt a little run down, from the remote/keyboard which had plastic wrap on it to the scuffed up and chipped walls. Overall this didn't take away from the experience much but going from the nice entrance and bar area into a room that looked like it was in Chuck-E-Cheese was a little odd. The prices were reasonable but the Whole Chicken prices did seem rather high to me. I got the Angry Sauce (Spicy) chicken and it was delicious!

The chicken was good, my favorites would have to be the sweet and spicy sauce as well as the passion fruit mule, but the service was really slow. It could be because of the pandemic and service workers being hard to find, but everything seemed to be a 30-45 min wait. Bartenders were super nice as well as the wait staff that was around. Sadly, all the karaoke rooms were full so I definitely missed half of the experience of this place.

Went here for a Karaoke night with a group of friends. We did not have a good experience. First of all one, the women's bathroom lacked a front door entirely and the mens bathroom had what appears to be the door to a walk in freezer on it. Second they put us into a room with no air conditioning. When we brought this up they said they would look into it. After around 15 minutes with no one coming back we began to seek out our server. We were then told that all other rooms were booked. This would have been fine if it wasn’t for the fact that the room we could see across the hall from us was empty all night. There was no other attempt to remedy the situation other than partially comping our bill. As a side note, we had a reservation for this night at least a few days in advance. Lastly, the song options were very limited, most of the songs being in Korean with maybe 20 pages out of a 150+ page book being in English, not that big of a deal but did add to the displeasure of the experience.

Would be 5 stars if owner did not steal tips. They charge an 18% service fee which is completely acceptable for larger groups but was appalled when I learned (and confirmed by the manager) that it does not go to the servers. How can you call that a service fee?? Complete BS and thievery by the owners. Sorry to the servers who do not get the tips you deserve, please know that your service was great and this is not the norm. Your profession is in high demand and you can get a job somewhere else with ease for a company that respects you

Servers / bartenders had a bit of an attitude . Ramen noodles are served and a metal bow?l 😐 which made the noodles cold very quickly... Feels like I was eating out of a dog's water bowl.

We love The Karaoke rooms at the Hive. The VIP room is my favorite. It feels like your own little club in there. There is so much room that with a party of 25 people you can dance around and not feel crowded. The rooms are always clean. Richard the manager is always on top of things. He is great at communicating with customers. I love how there is a bar so you can always step out to get more drinks. The song selection is decent. The sound system and lights always amazing. On certain weekends there is a dj that keeps the party going once you're done with your room. If you are looking for something fun to do with a group then the Hive is the place for you. One con though: depending on how busy they are the food can take some time to come out

Song selection for the machine was pretty bad. Lots of songs simply didn't play/load. Lots of errors. Service was meh, most of the time they didn't check in regularly. Only in the beginning was service good. We had to go to the front to order food/drinks numerous times. Maybe it was because our party was too big? Food and drinks were great though. Maybe service was just a fluke, will try again.

I’m here now. We’ve yet to run out of English songs and we’ve been here over an hour, you just have to search for them. So far we’ve had a (much better than expected) good time!! The fries and ranch are good. The only reason I’m not rating five stars is that it feels a little dirty here. Not the most visually appealing and the batteries are taped into the remote. But other than that it’s been a super fun time. I’ve never done a room for karaoke but I’ve had an awesome time here so far!!

ordered the fried chicken plate that was supposed to come w mac and cheese , mashed pot and gravy and pickled radishes. this was brought to me with just the chicken potatoes (no gravy) and corn. the servers were hella cool and kind to take the price down off the bill because the kitchen was out of mac an cheese and gravy and radishes but it'd have been nice if the kitchen gave them a heads up before just assuming I'd be cool with a plate of what I didn't order. the chicken breading was excellent. the place was empty which was nice and chill place to eat in the middle of the day for lunch.

Took my daughter and a group of her friends to do karaoke for her 16th birthday party. Staff was friendly and helpful. The kids figured out how to work the equipment pretty quickly and sang the entire 2 hours, we never ran out of songs and could have kept singing for hours more. We ate before we came so hadn't planned on ordering food but we brought a birthday cake with us and the server brought us plates and forks and cups and a water pitcher. I recommend bringing sweaters because some of the girls were chilly but I just told them they had to get up and dance to stay warm. Checkout was easy and even had a discount I wasn't expecting. Will definitely come again and recommend to anyone!

Came for brunch. Their hours are completely wrong on Google. They are, in fact, open in the morning. Or at least they were, because today was the last brunch ever. The wrong posted hours is probably the reason why they're permanently stopping brunch. Staff was super nice and the food was good. Which is a shame because of the next thing The 8% "restaurant fee" is *expletive* ridiculous. Not a gratuity, because at least that would go to the hard working staff. Just greed from the owner. It's also illegal because it's not written anywhere on their menu. So if you're unfortunate to already be eating here, contest the bill. So sad to see a cool place with good staff be run so badly. We won't be coming back

It was my 1st time doing karaoke and the people I was with made it fun. The staff were friendly but the reason I gave this score is because when asking about the system because you could barley hear the voices through the speakers, it was met with "well the mics are up so there is nothing we can do" without the attempt to lower the music. Then when my sister went to get food after pushing the call button 3 times because no one showed, she was told that the forgot to start the time and they will start it now but we got lost in time and we got charged for 2 hours. So basically, be careful and mark your own time because time flies when having fun. But it was a cool experience to act goofy and sing with people I care about.
