Super chilled and well equipped gym. The amount of floor space is impressive, the gym is huge and has pretty much every machine you would need. It's also very well priced compared to other gyms which is a bonus. I haven't had a bad interaction in the gym, the gym users are decent and the staff are very good. Helpful, friendly and always say hello to you. There are lockers for your bags, massage chairs to relax, traditional and infrared sauna rooms and a few tanning booths. The parking situation isn't bad either, there is loads of parking at the front by the shops, on the street and at the rear of the gym. The ONLY minor downside is that the dumbbells are maxed at 75lbs, otherwise no other complaints!

Definitely not the best place! Staff is not always friendly and at our location in mission valley San Diego, the sauna has been broken for at least a month. When I asked why it was not fixed, I have been told it’s because only 1 person was working on fixing it. I’m sure they are making enough money to pay at least 2 people to get it fixed faster. Then I asked if I would get a refund, since I pay for the premium plan, and I don’t get the premium service for at least a month, and get charge just the regular price. The staff looked at me and laughed at me, and telling me NO. So I’m paying for a premium plan, and don’t get the premium service, and they just don’t care... great service!

This is a nice little gym. I liked it and was interested in joining. But, they were NOT enforcing mask use inside the gym. I asked a supervisor about it and was basically given a b.s. answer. People were doing entire workouts without a mask and no one was wiping machines down or cleaning. For me, I take covid seriously, and was very displeased with their apparent position on masks. They said they were not going to police their members.

I went to this gym at the Mission Valley location for the first time today. It is a nice gym. It was neat and relatively clean. I liked that they have plenty of wipes and a place where they make protein drinks. What I didn't like was that they have too few dumbbells and the heaviest dumbbell they have is only 75 lbs. and it was too warm inside, which is not cool (sorry for the pun) because it is summer.

I like it here, I love sauna. My friends all say it's a good deal for a gym but I'm not sure haha. I'm mostly here for the sauna and while I go I might as well work out haha. The staff is so nice and chill. The smoothies are absolutely delicious and protein packed. Have slight trouble getting machines sometimes but not usually a problem. Never had a gym membership but good experience!

Some staff members are unhelpful, but I am impressed how well this gym equipped! Hydro massage is my favorite part of any workout routine. I didn’t try out any classes there yet, but sure it will be fun. Got premium membership and happy to take care of myself and stay sporty ✊

5 Stars hands down for the staff!! They make you feel like Ohana(family)! Anthony, Kelsey, Marissa, Will, Amelia and Mike are flat out awesome!! Price and cleanliness are a 10!! I just wish a some weights were updated such as a normal squat rack, bench press and dumbbells that go over 75lbs.

During the pandemic cleaning by employee's was constant and multiple dispensers with wipes could be found throughout the gym. Now, employees are always at the desk being very loud or walking around but not cleaning. They seem to have lost or removed a couple wipe dispensers and the ones available are often empty. Since reopening, the gym is packed at all hours and the equipment is getting used and abused. Wear and tear is beginning to show in some of the equipment with seats coming off benches and dumbells missing layers of plastic/rubber. Although they added squat racks that aren't smith machines, they seem to have lost adjustable benches instead of adding more for people who bench press at the racks. There are maybe 3 adjustable benches and one has to camp out to get a bench.

Small but nice. They've got tanning beds, hydro massage tables (10 minutes at a time allowed), and saunas (also time limited). A few squat racks and a platform which is nice! Even have stall bars (not common in most gyms). Locker rooms/showers are nice.

As someone with a body type that very much deviates from what is considered “acceptable” I can’t say I’ve felt welcome here. On several occasions I’ve walked past people who were talking quietly and as soon as I pass by them and they look at your body they start loudly laughing- and go back to talking quietly as soon as I pass- this has happened with both patrons and staff almost every time I visit. You’d think that since they look down on us they’d be happy you’re at the gym. I feel very uncomfortable here and I can’t say they take inclusivity seriously here at all. I know that there are other establishments in the city that do have this in their mission statement.

I went to scope out joining a gym. The place needs a makeover. Parts are dark and dingy. It didn't look clean to me although the smell of cleaner was a bit overwhelming. Parking also posed a potential problem. I joined LA Fitness. It was bright, new and everything looked clean.

Had 24 fitness for a long time. 24 fitness shut down permanently all Utah gyms and closed gyms in other states also. When I am in California will check out this gym . No more 24 fitness for me . This gym looks very nice

I cant express how grateful I am to find this gym 🙏🏼 I canceled my 24 hour fitness due to multiple reasons and I thought to give Chuze a try. My girlfriend and I were amazed…Great staff, clean facility, very reasonable prices and additional add ons such as; (tanning, hydro massage,, sauna, protein area bar freshly made, ect…) all for $30 a month and a +1 included. Danny keep up the great work and your amazing customer service!! One thing I would say the fan was blowing super cold on top of my treadmill, I was sweating and cold at the same time.

overall this place is great!! Some areas that can be improved are: -cleaner saunas (booths especially). Relaxing music would be nice. -bigger showers - better music (kinda hard to work out to country music lol...odesza, aurora night are the way to go 😎) - self check in for massage chairs. Zero gravity chair #3 needs to be fixed. -longer open hours The employees are what makes this place awesome- they deserve raises! They really are a friendly, hard working, and welcoming team and that isnt easy finding these days. Great job guys 😊

Definitely have, and will continue to recommend this gym to my friends and family. It's clean and people aren't grunting and gross like most gyms. Honestly, it's the complete package with the saunas for me. I wish it was a slightly larger facility, but I know the location is limited by the building size. Still, it has everything I need to have a great workout and recovery.

Great place to start if you haven't been to a gym in a while. Very comfortable for me to get back into it. No pressure from the associate's great attitude and I m very happy with the deals available, I'm taking advantage of the free 7 day trial before I join

This fitness center is amazing. All of the equipment you need to begin working out or get serious about it. The staff is always friendly and very helpful. The center is clean and organized. I would enjoy it more if the members interacted more, but that is each person's decision. It is a great price for a great gym!! I live downtown and still choose Chuze!

This place is small... very limited free weights and the gym smells like cannabis. Customer service is alright. They however don’t care if people wear masks here. Not coming back to this location. Santee location is cleaner and better!

For the price, this is a great gym. Most in the area are at least $10/ month more than here. Of course, I’ve only been twice and the gym hasn’t been crowded. I imagine I’d give 4 stars during peak because it is limited in some free weight equipment and lacks a pool. The smoothie bar looks great, I’ll likely try it before I commit to full-time here. I’m on a free 7-day pass right now. The space has great air conditioning and the flow of the space is pretty solid too.

Update to review: Owner responded (misspelling my name sadly) and it does not seem like they thoroughly read my review. I did in fact go in person to pay in full by card. It's the fact that you're penalized by paying in full that is the reason for my low review. Paying in full by card for whatever reason doesn't give you the current special rate of the discounted monthly price as well as the current 15 cent enrollment fee. There's no excuse for a card being cancelled when they get all of the year upfront and that wouldn't affect my transaction. I did a free seven day trial here and there are some pros but also so many cons. It’s clean and there are a lot of cardio machines and a lot of duplicates of random floor machines. However, this gym is always what I consider to be busy in which I have to wait on machines - specifically lower body machines. I even went during the times they told me were the least busy, and I still felt like it was kind of busy. The parking lot is OK, spaces are tight, but the most frustrating thing and the reason for my rating is that they have a promo going on on the entire brand website saying that if you do a 12 month commitment for any of their plans, there is only a $.15 enrollment fee. I tried to sign up on their website but it requires a bank account to pay the monthly fee, and I do not want to give a gym my bank information. I called and asked if I could just pay the entire year in full with credit card and they said absolutely you can. I showed up today and the girl who helped me said that their system automatically just defaults to making you Pay $19.99 per month instead of the special rate of $15.99 cents per month and it makes you pay a $99 enrollment fee. Instead of being rewarded, or at least not penalized for paying in full this was extremely disappointing. I even showed her on the website that if you select the 12 month commitment for the basic plan that there is the special rates and she just said, essentially their system just makes you pay all this extra stuff when you want to pay in full. I don’t know why they would need to extract more money out of me above the special rate offered plainly online when they’re getting all their money in full.

I'm in San Diego for 3 months and wanted to join a gym. Was going to Anytime Fitness before coming here. Yes the place can get crowded and the parking spots are narrow but the gym has everything I think someone would need. 75 lb dumbbells are the heaviest available, but at 65 yrs old I'm not going to use any time soon. Which brings me to their app. Inputting your birthday in 1958 can take forever scrolling back!! 😁 They honor Silver Sneakers. So no cost for me for the basic membership. Staff A+ Cleanliness A+ Wish I had this gym available near me on the East Coast.

I moved to San Diego two years ago from New York City. I am in my 49th year and for the past 30 years I have been going to the gym and for 12 of those years I was religiously going to the gym . When I moved to San Diego I was looking for a gym that fit my needs. I have been to LA Fitness 24 Hour Fitness EOS Fitness They have all left me wanting to never attend a public facility again. On a whim I went to Chuze as it is close to my home in Bankers Hill. I must tell you this, it is by far my most pleasurable experience I have had at a gym. Your staff is fantastic. They are helpful, not cocky. You walk in and you feel welcome and not interrupting them from texting. I misplaced my earbuds and the next day they had them in the front drawer for me. They are knowledgeable and accommodating and that is more than appreciated in an environment where you already feel out of place and awkward. But more importantly than just the staff being nothing short of phenomenal - it is CLEAN. The amenities from the Saunas to the locker room are immaculate. There is never a shortage of machines due to"maintenance." It is such an amazing facility I have made it a point to let me colleagues and mates in the apartment building I reside in know. I brought a neighbor as a guest and she has since cancelled her membership at Eos. Your team is doing a phenomenal job and I wanted to let you know that.

First, let me start by saying that I LOVE this gym, but I have to give it 3 stars. Currently sitting in the car after missing yet another class due to traffic and the parking situation. It’s already hard enough to get into classes in the first place because they all are booked within 2 minutes, sometimes 1. Once you make it past booking it’s still a toss up on if you’re going to be able to keep your spot. With traffic, trying to find parking, and then make it inside the gym 5 minutes before class to sign-in it’s all a bit anxiety causing. I really love the trainers here and the classes, everyone is so polite. Unfortunately, after only making it to about 50% of the classes I sign up for due to reasons out of my control (booking, traffic, parking) I think I’m gonna have to find another gym.

Chuze is a great gym for the everyday person! It has pretty much all of the lifting equipment you need to get a full workout in, and only gets crowded during certain parts of the day (e.g., the post-work rush). There are plenty of cardio machines in addition to having a wide selection of dumbbells and assisted machines. They do not have free weight barbells (e.g., squat racks, free weight benches), only Smith Machines. However, I only pay $10 a month which is way cheaper than any gym in the area….if those amenities are important to you then this isn’t your gym, but you will likely pay 5x as much at another gym. For $10 a month, you get way more than what you pay for. Also, the staff are extremely friendly…probably the friendliest gym staff I have ever met. I promise you that you cannot walk out the door to go home without someone smiling and telling you to have a great day. I’m also warmly greeted every time I walk in. They are constantly cleaning all of the equipment and generally staff seem very happy to be there. I’m not sure how anyone can give less than 5 stars based on the price point and customer service. Definitely check them out !

Omg chuzefitness has a wonderful staff. When you enter it feels like Cheers tv show. Everyone knows your name. The things they do to keep gym on the up and up is amazing. I’m happy to be a member at this gym.

If there was ever a trainer who makes sure her clients perform each exercise and plan correctly, so as not to sustain an injury, it's my gym instructor. Her experience is extensive, but what she brings to her work beyond expertise is a real ability to listen to the needs of a client to help that person safely reach her goals. Thanks!

It is an incredibly clean gym. It's open and running very safely and efficiently during the covid-19 crisis. The only downside there's no free weights so I hope you like Smith machines. Closest Chuze gym there is to North Park

Hands down my favorite gym. Especially the Mission Valley location. Staff is eager to help and always in a positive mood. Equipment always cleaned and up to date. Tons of areas to utilize too, wether it be their turf sections or studio. Above all the cost is unbeatable. $20 for a great gym that also had unlimited tanning beds, a sauna, and hydro therapy. Some hours can be busier than others but that’s similar to any gym. Still plenty of room go get a workout in regardless

  • 3/5 Daniel A. 1 year ago on Google
Gym is pretty subpar, good equipment but way too small, especially during peak hours, sometimes workouts will take longer than usual to just grab a bench or a squat rack. Parking is a massive headache both in front and behind the gym. Facility wise, showers and locker room are ridiculously small. Lack some amenities other locations offer, like digital locks for lockers. Shower heads are pretty low pressure. Granted, I find this place convenient given it's right down the street from my workplace. Worth the investment, affordable, reasonable.

This Chuze Fitness location is great! I've heard it is not as big as other Chuze Fitness location, but it's staff is second to none. I've noticed the level of attention that the staff has with its members here and how they are constantly aware of any issues or situations. They maintain a clean and respectful establishment.

This place is a good place to work out but not to tan no parking during peak hours and forget about useing their tanning beds. There is always bulbs burnt out and they dont replace their bulbs so the 10 min they allow is useless when the bed doesn't even get hot . Guess im going back to itan

I'm coming up on almost a year of consistently coming to this gym and it's been great. Yes, it is a bit small and gets a bit busy after work hours, but it makes sense given its central location so it's to be expected. People who come to work out here are generally pretty courteous; there are a few who hog the machines but honestly that issue isn't as prevalent here as it is at other gyms I've been to. The equipment selection is decent. It's not the most comprehensive selection ever but you'll definitely have enough options to get a good workout in. Lots of cardio machines to choose from though they do tend to get busy around 4-6pm. There are 2 separate turf areas to choose from which is nice, and one has TRX straps. It's also not the most modern equipment but gets the job done, and they do a pretty good job keeping it well maintained. Parking right next to the gym building can be really tough during peak hours, but you can easily park in the overflow parking they have at the hotel next door if it's really crowded, so I don't understand the bad reviews in that aspect. It's not a bad walk by any means. The staff here has been awesome the whole time; they probably don't know my name/recognize me but they are always really friendly and say hello & goodbye. I've seen some people complain about them being chatty with each other which I think is silly, it's good to have comradery with your coworkers and gives the gym a friendly vibe. Plus, they'll stop their conversations to help you out with no issue. They are also constantly cleaning the floors/equipment and refilling cleaning cloths which is great. I struggled to find somewhere I was comfortable working out before giving this Chuze a try. I'm grateful to the staff for giving the gym a very chill vibe and making me feel more comfortable while continuing my fitness journey. Thanks yall!

The staff here is unprofessional. Last night for example the tall Caucasian guy working there was hanging out behind the desk without a mask on. Then the short girl there wears an offensive mask. Gym is good but every time I go into the sauna the traditional or infrared it’s always colder than it’s supposed to be. I’ve sat in that thing for way to long just to get a sweat. Like an hour once. one of the only reasons I come to this gym I hope they fix it soon. I never leave reviews I just hope maybe they fix it or turn it up.

  • 5/5 Thomas M. 10 months ago on Google
Clean, well-run facility with friendly staff. Well ventilated, so you don't have the feeling of choking in an atmosphere of stale sweat (like SOME gyms I could name!). Diverse membership, men and women, folks of all ages and physical levels. Easy-going atmosphere free of bullying, competition, or showing off. Something gets broken? They tag it out and get a mechanic called in to get it fixed and operational in just a day or two. This is a good place for your workout.

My favorite chuze facility in SD. Perfectly located in central SD. Right off the Interstate 8. Best part about it is the Dry Sauna. Not all locations have a dry sauna. Infrared sauna is okay. However, the snack bar is not that good. I asked for their most popular protein shake and it was garbage. Parking is a headache sometimes but overall a great facility and an always welcoming staff. Very clean and organized. A+++

If you're used to the more luxury gyms this might not be the greatest. It is pretty small and super packed. However for being the price that it is, it's clean, there's a good amount of equipment and friendly staff. 10 stars for Troy! His classes are absolutely the best and I wish he had even more time slots. Great music, always changing workouts and great personality. He is literally the reason I continue to go to this gym.

The staff here are cool but this location is pretty garbage. They don't have running water half the time I come here, the WiFi almost never works, you will have to circle the parking lot several times before finding a spot. It's fine as far as commercial gyms go but if you're serious about the gym I wouldn't get a membership here.

Not very disabled friendly. The elevator is frequently on the fritz, and the parking spots are so small that navigating from my car to the gym is all the workout I need.

  • 3/5 Dantata D. 2 years ago on Google
The staff is nice and professional but to be honest, this is the worst Chuze facility in San Diego. It is tinier than the rest, not enough parking spots and the one's that are there are small- your car will most likely be scratched. The locks on the lockers barely work, and they are not planning to fix them anytime soon. It's also located at a dangerous crossroad prone to car accidents. They need to move to a bigger, better and safer place.

What a terrible joke is a subscription here. You sign up and when you move, it’s impossible to cancel. For months I have been trying and they keep charging me and ignoring my contacts.

This is such an awesome gym! The customer service and friendliness of the staff are unparalleled and they go above and beyond to make you feel welcome when you come to work out. The facility is very clean and has an impressive variety and number of machines (cardio, machines, free weights, etc) as well as some other cool areas (class room, turf, workout circuit, etc). I am also very impressed with and appreciate the safety measures they have implemented due to COVID. There are ample hand sanitizer and wipe stations throughout the gym and masks are required for entry. Overall, I'm really impressed with this location due to the staff, equipment, and cleanliness! For ~$15 a month it's a pretty much unbeatable deal. I absolutely love this gym and am so happy to have found it!

They will change the price of membership on you and not honor the contract price. Shady at best. Emily the manager says the customer is always wrong, that is a strange motto.

Facilities are clean and updated. Staff is very friendly. Membership fees are reasonable. The only reason I cancelled is because of the lack of parking. It's terrible. There are way too many businesses in the area and you'll spend a lot of time looking to park just to go to the gym for an hour.

Tons of equipment and machines, super friendly staff, and great vibes! I’m a newbie at the gym and I feel very comfortable here. It never feels like I’m being judged or watched (that’s always a downside for me). It does get a little crowded on weekdays after work, but never to the point of not being able to do my complete workout

Don't show the road if screen is convenient and it's in the neighborhood. Great assistance there.

I really enjoy working out at Chuze. My only complaint would be about how small this gym actually is. Sure there is plenty of treadmills and other machine (which have to be taken as soon as you see it’s open during peak hours) but not enough free weights or squat racks (3). Though from the beginning I’ve always felt welcome by their attentive staff. If you’re looking to get into fitness or a new gym Chuze is hard to beat! This goes without mentioning the sauna, hydro massage and smoothie bar. Lastly, as others have mentioned, it is hard to find parking at this location

Favorite gym I’ve been to! I have been lift weighting for years and this place has it all. Nice equipment, clean, great amenities for a low price and best of all the staff! Shout out Becca, Alec and Russ!!! My boiiiis 5/5 stars, get there

This has been my saving grace the last few weeks of shutdown! Ryan who helped me sign up was awesome and got me signed up really easily. Membership is flexible. Most importantly, they've done an awesome job to adjust for COVID. They moved all their machines outside under a huge tent, spaced out, limited # of people each time slot, you get personal sanitizing spray for spraying down machines.

Great gym! The staff here are super friendly and welcoming. They are always helpful to their members and answer all your questions. The facility is very clean. Shoutout to Russell and Becca for being super friendly and always hyping me up.

I've been to several of the other Chuze locations in San Diego and this one is definitely the best! From the moment you walk in, the friendly staff welcomes you in and accommodates to any needs. If you're looking for a decent gym for a great price, this is the place!

Not really impressed with the gym. The location I went to is located in Mission Valley. But I can say they are affordable. They have all the equipment you need to get fit. Just didn’t give me that energy you should have when you go to the gym. There is no swimming pool and the parking lot is horrible really hard to find parking there’s no street parking allowed. I plan to join this gym and see how it goes. The thing that was attractive to me is the exercise classes I like Cycling and Zumba. Thanks

Clean facility, nice and welcoming vibe. Positive trainers around. I came for trial pass but definitely will sign up for membership as I enjoyed the first 5days already. Burned some calories and aim to burn more. See you again Chuze!!

Okay, I’m not usually one to leave reviews but this place is just that good. I love this gym. Every single staff member goes above and beyond to make me feel welcome and well cared for during my workouts! The equipment is always clean and well organized, membership prices are great, and the smoothies are always delicious. 10/10 absolutely would recommend Chuze Mission Valley

7 day trial and good pricing. No personal trainers aloud. I like that they don’t let people be loud when they work out which can be totally distracting. Very nice layout and sometimes they have QR codes to give you a tutorial on how to use it. Very helpful staff and they have a hydromassager!

I go to this gym (almost) every single day and I could not get by without them! I have a pinched sciatic nerve in my hip and I need to work out every day to keep it under control. I appreciate the service y’all offer and thank you for being my helpers.

I'm not a "gym" person by any stretch. I'd gone to a gym maybe half a dozen times in the last ten years before I decided that it was time to finally lose weight and get healthy. I did some research into local gyms and Chuze had a lot of things going for it, including that it was open early and it was a very short drive from my home. I went in to sign up and found the staff to be polite and helpful, guiding me through a process that, through no fault of their own, was a little more convoluted than it needed to be. I've been going about 5 times a week since I signed up, and I can say that even though I definitely do not feel terribly comfortable in my own skin, this place is the right place for me. They have plenty of cardio machines and weight machines, as well as expansive 'turf' areas for free weights and resistance bands (I think), etc. I'm always greeted by name when entering and leaving, which is a nice touch. Apart from the staff and the amenities, the other gym goers have also been a positive experience. A major concern I had was with being 'in the way' for people who knew what they were doing, but I haven't felt that way at all. People tend to give each other space and seem willing to share machines/weights/etc. This gym has hydromassage, an infrared sauna, a smoothie bar, and space for group classes (although at the time I go, I have not seen classes take place), none of which I have used so far so I can't review. I've heard parking can get a little hairy because it's kind of a small lot, but so far I haven't had any trouble. Your mileage may vary at peak times. Overall, great gym equipment, good experience, and friendly staff.

They like swimming, and it is a good environment for them because the water is not too cold. Despite the fact that my children can swim, it is safe for the other children. There was also a fitness center there that would be ideal for you and your husband. What a wonderful establishment! They stayed in the city's best hotel. When we come here for vacations, my kids have a great time.

This gym can be crowded especially when most people get off work (4-6pm) but it has a lot of great equipment and the staff is super friendly. I don't have a membership yet (I can come in as a guest daily due to my friends membership), so I can't comment too much on the prices, but it doesn't seem unreasonable compared to other gyms. Overall, I'd recommend it.

There's a good vibe here. People are taking their fitness seriously, but it's overall still a nice relaxed environment. Super friendly staff. I'm on my 7 day free trial, but plan on joining once it's over. All the equipment is in fantastic condition, and plenty of squat racks and free weights, as well as 2 turf areas. Can't wait to use the infrared sauna, tanning, and hydromassage!

I have to give Chuze Fitness 5 stars. From the extremely friendly and welcoming staff members, to the updated equipment, smoothie bar and massage beds, this gym really just does it for me. I've been going to Chuze for 5 years now since I moved to San Diego. You really can't beat the prices for everything that is included. The two different style of massage beds is a real game changer if you're looking for some recovery after a workout or just some relaxation. Those alone are worth the monthly membership fee in my opinion! Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned gym enthusiast, Chuze has something for everyone.
