California Dreams Hostel - Pacific Beach is perfectly located and offers great value. Literally steps from the beach with numerous bars, restaurants, coffee chips within blocks. The space was clean and well maintained. Ryan, Paige and the rest of the staff were always friendly and accommodating. Definitely plan to stay here again when back in San Diego. Thanks!

This is a great hostel - I have stayed at a few and this prob one of the best in San Diego PB beach area. The atmosphere is clean, warm, and incredibly welcoming. I had the opportunity to meet fellow travelers and made some friends. A special shout-out to Ryan, who went above and beyond to make everyone feel at ease. He was very kind and always there to help made sure my stay was comfortable. Will recommend this to anyone looking for a nice place close to the beach.

If you're looking for a great neighborhood with people to party with, this is the spot! I arrived at this hostel looking for New Years Eve celebrations, and they really delivered. The beach is really close by which was very nice. Rey Ray really hooked us up with some great options for New Years and ensured we were taken care of. I was really impressed when he had a NYE club promoter show up to pick us up and even gave us a huge discount. Rey Ray really knows how to organize great things to do for travelers on a budget; give that man a raise! They are a very clean hostel which was impressive. They clean the bathrooms multiple times a day. I would not recommend working remote from here as they don't have tucked away spaces however they were able to help me swap my reservation at the The California Dreams Hostel in Ocean Beach which was a better spot to work from. After the week was done, I returned to this Hostel for the weekend after and they definitely did not disappoint and appreciated that they took us to great local spots, avoiding tourist traps. I highly recommend staying at this hostel if you're looking to meet new people, quickly get to the beach and be shown some great the night life in the area.

I had an excellent stay at the California Dreams Hostel over Labor Day weekend! The location was amazing, steps away from Pacific Beach and walking distance from a lot of great restaurants and bars. The hostel had just what I needed for a comfy stay and the crew was very welcoming! Ryan was a wonderful host and checked in with me throughout my stay to make sure everything was great. My belongings felt safe and secure, especially since they had lockers for valuables. I would definitely stay again for a quick trip to San Diego!

The day I moved here and it was late at 1am and it was last minute check in. They were closing when I arrived but Autumn and Ray checked me in and tour me around the place. she was professional, helpful and very welcoming. It my first time trying the hostel and I didn’t expect to be cared by the team working there. The staff is amazing and professional. I arrived during the Christmas. They cooked us meal for x mass and made pancakes for us. The bathroom and the bed were clean. The place was cleaned daily and I felt like I was home. I was planning to stay 3 days and ended staying 5 days. It’s was so much fun mainly because of the people working there. I want to thank Pedro, Ray, Autumn, Andrea, Ewen, Noel for their great service. Other main reason I like the place was this beach is the proximity and convenience to ocean. The hostel was never over crowded or over rowdy. Love the people staying there and the parking was always been a breeze. I plan to return for another week!!

I have stayed in many hostels, but California Dreams stands out as the best for several reasons: Ideal location: The hostel is situated very close to the beach, providing numerous opportunities to visit the shore throughout the day and night. Value for money: They offer the most competitive prices in the downtown area. Exceptional staff: Jasmine and Ryan are extraordinary people. They genuinely cared about my well-being, offering their assistance without being asked. I appreciated the atmosphere they worked to create and thoroughly enjoyed our conversations and discussions. In summary, should I return to San Diego, I would not hesitate to stay at California Dreams again!

5 star hostel! The location, to staff, the kitchen, and the bunk beds quite fantastic! I am definitely going to stay there again and recommend California dreams hostel to all my friends whoever is visiting San Diego. The place is clean, and the staff members are professional and polite! Pedro gave me a tour very professionally and he was very kind and friendly! Also I forgot my clothes there, on requesting they agreed to ship it to my home. I created a label emailed to them and they dropped the package to The UPS Store! Thank you so much Pedro and Sandra for your help I appreciate it! keep up the good work guys!

It was our absolute pleasure to stay here Ryan and everyone were amazing. Ryan was not only kind, cleanly and respectful but was also so incredibly friendly and outgoing that he became friends with just about every guest and staff member that he encountered. Ryan was the epitome of a perfect host. I would recommend California dreams place to any and all guests, travelers. You are welcome here anytime.

Great location, just next to the touristy Pacific beach; you can hear the ocean breeze in your room. It's walkable to all the nearby food spots and attractions. The place is kept clean. You can rent towels, locks, and laundry services. Special mention to Ryan for making my stay pleasant.

My first hostel stay was better than I could have imagined. I stayed at California Dreams for week learning to surf at Pacific Beach. The location was amazing -- one block from the beach. The staff are wonderful from the moment you arrive. Ryan was super helpful throughout. While it was a solo trip, staff like Ryan, Paige, and Brandon made this trip memorable. I rented bicycles, and used their laundry service. I loved the spacious bathrooms. Curtains, lights, and outlet next to each bunk bed was convenient. Kitchen and pantry were clean and organized and I was able to cook several meals during my stay.

It was really incredible. It was my first time staying at a hostel in my whole life, and i for sure will come back to california dreams hostel. Every thing was really clean (showers, rooms, kitchen). I had to go to work really early and they let me take my breakfast to take away. Staff was super lovely and resolutive. If I could I will give them 10 stars instead of 5.

Great location! Parking can be tricky. Staff was kind and helpful. Room and bathroom was clean. Liked that there is a bathroom/shower in the room. Like privacy curtains and lockers in room. Bring own towel and lock or rent one. Affordable rentals and items for purchase. Enjoyed my stay here.

Honestly, the best hostel I have ever been to. Every single thing you need to do around is available here: bikes, skates, surf, and even balls to play on the beach (which is like 100m from the premises). They collected a bigger piece of luggage that I was carrying and gave me a locker for daily stuff (you can also rent a lock for 3 dollars). Beds are good, everything clean, friendly and welcoming personnel... The full package guys. 10/10.

Excellent hostel. Staff were super friendly and accommodating. Great shared spaces, including a fridge and cooking facilities. Excellent location right beside the beach. Clean and comfortable bunk beds. Would definitely stay again.

The place is clean, newly renovated and has great amenities. The rooms and dorms have comfortable and spacious beds. The bunk beds have curtains and bed lights for privacy. The staff is extremely accommodating and very nice! There is a back yard with a pool, hot tub and a grill. You can rent bikes and surfboards too. They do movie projections in the front yard, but there is also a separate tv-hang out room with couches and armchairs. A great place to stay in every way!!!

Excellent, clean, and easy-going hostel! The staff (David, Brett, Mo, G and the rest) are very helpful and friendly. The cleaning team is also top notch. This is probably the cleanest hostel I've stayed in. Location is phenomenal, literally seconds from the beach and many great restaurants in Pacific Beach. The hostel is also pretty calm and quiet (I stayed in 14 bunk dorm), which I appreciated.

Perfect location(close to beach, surrounded by good cafes and restaurants), clean, cozy, super nice and easygoing staffs, convenient services for bike/board rentals. Truly perfect hostel to enjoy PB. Everything I need was just there. I definitely recommend this place to all travellers.

California Dreams in PB is a MUST STAY! The whole staff was so friendly, helpful, and overall welcoming, making my stay such a blast. The facilities are very clean and up to date and the location is second to none. I got to watch the sunset on the beach every night, do morning beach yoga, and explore San Diego with so many incredible people. Moe, Giovanna, Brett, and David are all wonderful human beings and made California Dreams feel like a second home for my stay! Would recommend this place to anyone, especially solo travelers. As a solo female traveler, it's very refreshing to stay somewhere with similar minded individuals who want nothing more than for you to enjoy yourself. Will definitely be staying here in the future!

California Dreams Hostel is everything you want a Hostel to be! The staff are so hospitable and they create the ultimate Cali vibe for all staying there. Clean, friendly service, and so much information and offerings on how to explore and take in the most of San Diego! We rented bikes and cruised the boardwalk which was a highlight for sure! Thank you to the amazing team there!

The room was very clean and everyone was so friendly. It's the best hostel I've ever stayed in and I've stayed in a lot of them. It was very safe and I felt very comfortable walking the neighborhood. I'd definitely stay there again.

YES!!!! This place is in the PERFECT location, is so cute and the staff is so nice. My kids (teenagers) and I stayed in a private room. It was exactly as I expected. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean, and the bathroom (shared) was clean. They provided towels and bedding. They also have a TON of rental stuff (bikes, surfboards, boogie boards, towels). You could literally show up with a change of clothes and get EVERYthing you need for the beach there. The shared kitchen space is PERFECT. Huge gas stove, fridge with labels next to it to put your name on your things and a shelf of stuff for sharing. I wish I could have stayed longer and I will DEFINITELY go back if I am in the area.

We stayed here for 4 nights and had a great experience. It is clean, everyone is so friendly, and there was even free breakfast! The location is excellent, just steps away from Pacific Beach. The area is super fun, with lots of great restaurants. Also has good access to transit if you don’t have a car and want to see other parts of San Diego.

I stayed at California Dreams Pacific Beach hostel in a private room for 3 nights starting May 11, 2023. This was my first experience staying at a hostel, and I definitely would stay again. It is clean, with a short walk to the beach, shopping, restaurants, and public transportation. The staff was friendly and helpful, especially Jasmine. The breakfast is apples, tangerines, cereal, bagels, muffins, or you can make your own, but don't forget to clean up after yourself! There is also a coffee stand in front of the hostel, and it is good coffee! Don't hesitate to book time to stay there.

Upon entering I was greeting by Pedro and Megan. Pedro was very informative and extremely friendly, he really makes you feel welcomed. He was training Megan that day and overall my check in experience was smooth and quick. He let me know about the parking details and where I could and couldn’t park. Pedro is very polite and I am glad he was there to welcome myself and my girl. The place is clean and they have a lot of different items for sale suck as hand sanitizer, bikinis, beverages, and more. Their “living room” area was nice. It is right next to the private sleeping area and they have another bathroom in there. They have a kitchen with an oven, a microwave and a fridge and pantry to store food. They have a guitar, books and tv for entertainment. Great staff! I would recommend it for anyone looking to stay near the beach! I love that they are extremely close to restaurants and the beach. Great place to stay!

California dreams I Spend 5 nights in California Dreams PB. The staff was friendly and approachable. High standard of hygiene with daily cleaners in the kitchen, bathrooms and all the rooms. I prefer smaller dorms with less beds, but here it didn't bother me as every bunk comes with a private curtain and wallplugs. The highlight of this backpackers is the location. A block away from a busy nightlife, cafes and diners. And a stone throw away from Pacific Beach. I met folks from all continents during my stay in SD. breakfast is included but if you miss it the area has very affordable quality food. At last a shout out to all the staff and Mariana for her delicious cake's and coffee.

First ever staying in a Hostel, I liked it I felt safe, the staff is very nice, the place is clean, I would do it again, the only problem I had was I was told I would be able to park in front of the building after 6pm and I would have all the way till 10am to move my car which was perfect because I was leaving early, when I got to my car at 630 am there was a citation on my window total cost for ticket 56.00. For me this was the only problem everything else was good. When you stay at a Hostel you have to go into it with an opened mind, I would stay here again, and just be more cautious about parking

Here's the reason I'm giving this place a 2. Although I booked my time there for 4 days, the one incident I had with a "volunteer" from London made my time there a horrible experience but it also made me wonder about some of the people working there. Never have i ever felt like someone thought they could talk or treat someone just because. There's a difference between being a volunteer that lives there as opposed to being a paid guest. I reached out the manager about my experience, and even though he apologized immensely and even compensated me with a free rental (which I didn't use) I was still thrown off by that horrible experience of being talked down to like I was some trash off the street.

Staying at this hostel was the best!! You feel such a warm welcome as soon as stepping in the door, and you get greeted with nothing but smiles and warmth. I loved getting to talk to the staff members as well as other guests, everyone is incredibly friendly and I always felt safe there. Special shout to Ryan and Jasmine, you both are so lovely! 110% recommend staying here. Will be back soon!

I had an amazing stay! The hostel is conveniently located, lots of good food, fun restaurants, shopping, things to do near by. The beach here is gorgeous. I recommend renting a bike from around the corner and biking along the beach or Mission Blvd up to La Jolla, and trying a surfing lesson with a nearby surf club. There's a couple *incredible* taco places around the corner. The area is really clean and safe. Of all the hostels I stayed at in San Diego, the bathrooms here were the nicest; big and clean, with some natural light. The atmosphere and crowd are chill, met some great people during my stay -- thanks Ryan & team for welcoming me!

I'm not two-timing, but I have stayed at one or two other Pacific Beach hostels besides the California Dreams Hostel. And I have to say it is definitely the best! Everything is cleaner, from the floors to the kitchen to the bathrooms. The staff is amazing! They are definitely a lot nicer and more down to earth than any other hostels I've been to! They include everyone in conversations, not just the staff clique. Thaddeus is great to have a deep, mind-expanding conversation with, he'll definitely make you laugh! Everyone is included. Even the introverted loners, like me, that try to hide in the background. The free continental breakfast is wonderful! Fresh fruit, juice, coffee, a small variety of cereal and muffins, a thoughtful pick me up before you head out on your adventures. The beds are pretty nice. You may have to take the top bunk because most people like the bottom. But, if you can get over your fear of heights, your bed comes prepared. A pillow, a fitted sheet and a flat sheet. And if your a chilly little mini, with ice in your veins, like me and get a little cold during the night all you have to do is go to the front desk. Ask Ryan and he will get you a warm plush blanket speedy quick with a smile and then promptly turn the thermostat up to a toasty 74. When there's a big storm and the keypad to the door stops working just ask Jasmine, she'll lend a hand and get you in the door. Anything you need the staff always seem to do their very best to get it to you or to point you in a good direction as to where to find it. Overall, I'd have to give it a 10 out of 10 just for a combination of atmosphere, price, community and enjoyment! I would definitely stay here again, anytime I'm in San Diego and want to be 15 steps from the beautiful Pacific Ocean!! Thank you California Dreams Hostel!!

I had an amazing stay at the California Dreams Hostel in Pacific Beach! The staff was super friendly and ready to help any questions. It’s super close to the beach and cute restaurants so overall a great location to stay in! I really appreciated that they had bike rentals and tons of other equipment there for you to rent. I met awesome people during my stay and can’t wait to come back!

This place was so much fun! Ryan and Megan were great and gracious hosts. Very professional as well as personable! The people who stayed while I was there were so much fun to talk with and learn from. It was Christmas time so we all helped out when Ryan showed up with a box of decorations and merrier up the place! Several people connected and went on adventures together making their experience and stay much more fun and exciting! New friendships were developed quickly with so many common interests! Some had stayed there before and came back for more! I think I will most definitely stay there again myself! Looking forward to it! It’s a must stop and stay on your journey through the area! You’ll have a great experience and wish all hostels were like this one!
