One of the best family owned Italian places I have been. All the food is delicious that will place a cheese to your face. Truly a great little place to enjoy some good Italian food. A must visit if are in the area. Tina A. was our server and she is great!

Great reviews for a reason!! This restaurant is tucked in the back of an Italian store and feels so authentic. The food is absolutely delicious! The pizza and pasta were some of the best I've had. The pizza was loaded with cheese, and the pasta had lots of sauce. Our service was good and they have a small free parking lot next door.

Absolutely amazing! 👌🏼🔥 Everything smells and tastes fresh. My wife and I ordered the pepperoni pizza. Amazed by how great this tasted. Our waitress was super nice and accommodating. She was attentive and made us feel like family. We also ordered the chocolate cake just to taste it. It too was also fresh and delicate.

Amazing restaurant and atmosphere. Family friendly. The staff is very courteous and attentive. Definitely coming back for the amazing authentic Italian food and friendly staff. We ordered a pizza (enough for three people), ravioli (enough for two people), and a salad (enough for two people). Bread and butter was free.

Aloha! One of my favorite spots to eat in San Diego. Right in the middle of Little Italy, they have awesome Italian food. I once ate their pizza when I was a kid. The pizza was so cheesy and delicious. I ate several slices and as I ate my last slice, I almost choked! The cheese was so thick that I’m glad I was able to swallow the thick cheese or else, I might be eating the rest of rhe pizza in heaven.

Excellent food, service and wine. We had Sabrina as our server and she was awesome. We sat in the outside patio and it was fun to people watch everyone going by on the sidewalk. We came here Sunday around 3pm and it was starting to fill up but never got over crowded. We had the meat filled ravioli with meatballs and sausage. Also the cheese ravioli with meat sauce. One of us who doesn’t even absolutely love meat still loved the meat ravioli very delicious. They also served bread rolls on the house and when we asked for more we were able to get them. We had the house Rośe, recommended and very good. All in all an excellent meal and dining experience. Outside was nice as a family next to us had two small children and they were able to let their kids walk around a little bit while waiting for their food which also was a nice thing for families with antsy kids. We will be back.

EXCELLENT food, great service, personable staff! Filippi's is an amazing local pizza place in San Diego's "Little Italy" to remember. Pizza was extremely cheesy and slices were huge!! Heads up the large salad is well priced, but it is humongous. I highly recommend dining there.

I had the pleasure of dining at this charming Italian restaurant, and I must say, it was an exquisite experience. The lasagna with beef meatballs baked with extra cheese was simply divine - a perfect balance of flavors and textures that left me wanting more. The veggie pizza, touted as one of the best, lived up to its reputation, boasting a delightful medley of fresh, savory toppings that danced on my taste buds. Irene, our server, was an absolute gem, guiding us through the menu with warmth and expertise. Her recommendations were spot-on and enhanced our dining adventure. The restaurant, though not fancy, exuded a cozy ambiance that felt like a home away from home. One thing to note is the potential wait time, but trust me, the food is well worth it. Additionally, the adjacent small supermarket is a hidden gem, offering a variety of authentic Italian products, from pasta to pastries, allowing you to take a piece of the experience home with you. Another noteworthy aspect of this Italian restaurant is their generous portions. If you're planning to share, ordering one plate is more than sufficient for two people, especially when paired with a side plate. The portions are substantial, ensuring that every diner leaves satisfied without feeling overwhelmed. This thoughtful approach adds to the overall value and makes the dining experience even more enjoyable for couples or friends looking to share a meal. Overall, our evening at this Italian restaurant was a gastronomic delight, made memorable not only by the exceptional dishes but also by the attentive service and inviting atmosphere. A definite must-visit for any food enthusiast!

Overall, this is a great restaurant! Ordered a pizza. The sauce has a great flavor profile, and the pizza comes loaded with cheese! The downside is that the dough was somewhat soggy and has minimal flavor. As a result, that's why I'm reading it a 4 star. Looking around me, the other dishes looked tasty, and their portion sizes are huge! You will need a to go bag. I also enjoyed the ambiance. It's neatly tucked in the back of their store with ample seating. The wait staff were super friendly, and service was fast and efficient.

Best pizza I've had in awhile! Authentic Italian eats, with decent prices and great service. I highly recommend this place if you're ever in Little Italy (San Diego). Such a cute ambiance as well with signed Chianti bottles hanging from the ceiling from past customers. Craving pizza or Italian food? COME TO FILIPPI'S!! They also have a mini Italian market connected to the restaurant where they sell their Filippi's spices (sold at affordable prices).

It was an experience to go downtown where they call it little Italy. We were going to eat Japanese food at first and my friend was driving by this place ... all of sudden she's like Italian food because this place has the best Italian food. I agreed even though I wasn't in the mood for Italian food. As we entered the restaurant through their grocery store it became interesting to see their shop first. As you enter the building the aroma hit me like a ton of bricks and it made me hungry for Italian food. We were able to order our food and decided on a combination plate where you choose 2 entrees. I chose spaghetti 🍝 and meatballs with cheese ravioli. Unlimited bread and butter. It was a perfect choice. We were full but decided on dessert because we were celebrating our friendship, departure and embracing / planning to do more spontaneous trips to see one another. Because we live in different states. We can always count on food 😋 because it brings people together anytime and anywhere. Happy eating 😋

I had a veggie pizza and dinner salad from here and while the salad wasn’t exactly to my liking, the pizza was excellent. It was a good quality salad, just not my cup of tea. Everything on the pizza tasted fresh and high quality. They mozzarella tasted great. And my favorite thing about the pizza was probably how it wasn’t over salted and seasoned the way a lot of pizza chain style pizzas usually are. I didn’t feel awful after eating this pizza the way I would a chain pizza place. The restaurant itself was very chill and welcoming and everyone I talked to was very nice and attentive.

Places gets pretty packed here, the food was decent. I like the ol school vibe it brings but the food could've tasted better. My family didn't like the food. The pizza is okay but what I liked about the pizza is how cheesy it is, just wished it clilve tasted better

They should really change the name of the place. They serve very tasty marinara sauce but the pizza was terrible. We ordered Chicken parmigiana which comes with salad and soup, with side of cheese ravioli. It was delicious and enough for two people tbh. Highly recommend cool sweet Lambrusco wine to go with it. On the other hand- Margherita pizza had thick base, overflowing mozzarella cheese and some tomato- basic topping, that’s it. It tasted like only melted mozzarella. Nice atmosphere, good service.

I think this is a solid 4.5 spot! I wish I could give .5 stars but alas you have to decide 4 or 5 and I went with 4. It is for sure an experience and it transports you to a different place. However, I just think the food was not bad but not incredible. There are a few other places in Little Italy that give better food, but you can still check out this place for the experience. The service and atmosphere were elite 👌🏾 for sure worth it from that end.

We found the place on a walk through Little Italy back in 2019 and came back today for some of the best pizza I've ever had. The first time we ordered the anchovy pizza on a dare and a sense of adventure and it was delicious! This time we got The Works with anchovies and it was perfect. The pasta servings I saw walking out of the kitchen were HUGE and I'm sure as good as our pizza experience.

If you haven't already, you NEED to have dinner at Filippi's! Lovely location right in little Italy and food is always fresh and delicious and we have never had any complaints! Pastas and pizza are amazing but the cheesey bread is a must have! My family and I just went there on my birthday and they even brought me a free dessert to celebrate. It definitely made my day. I would recommend 10/10

We had a wonderful meal at Filippi’s! Our server, Dina was fantastic. We enjoyed a bottle Cabernet Sauvignon, an house salad (amazing house Italian dressing) and a half and half pizza (1/2 Special/1/2 Works). The green peppers were a bit chunky, but flavorful! The crust was thick and cooked to perfection. I prefer a bit less cheese, although my husband thought it was perfect. I highly recommend giving this establishment a try! They have been around since 1950 and we see why! M S

Great food, VERY down to earth ambiance and fast service. It is good to see that fame hasn't changed the soul of this place

Generational Italian family restaurant. Good pizza for a good price. We were two adults who shared the 8 item special pizza. It was filling, fresh, and tasty. We opted for the thicker crust. They give you an option of thinning out the crust. You pass thru their grocery store to get to the restaurant. The restaurant is aged and has authentic character. Service was welcoming and friendly. There are lots of Italian food options on the menu.

For starters, we had no idea the restaurant was so large. From the outside it seemed like a cute little restaurant, but it was spacious! The store next door was wonderful so you could purchase some of the things you enjoyed in the restaurant. Service was kind, the atmosphere was fun and the food was delicious!! Portions were very large and perfect for sharing many different entrees in our group. A must try if you're in Little Italy.

Very authentic Italian spot. The interior makes you feel like you are in a small Italian town. All the food was great, however, they did put meat in the vegetarian pasta, and despite telling the server, she did not remove it from the bill, we had to let the entire plate go to waste. Overall, the atmosphere is great, the portions are very big. I would order as you go! They also have an Italian supermarket which was quite cool as it had everything you need from an Italian perspective.

Definitely a must visit if you are dining in Little Italy. The portions are massive, some come prepared to bring home food, or order off the kids menu. (Which we did and I am so thankful we made that decision.) The lasagna is amazing. The small salad is enough for a family of 4 to split smaller portions. Loved the atmosphere and our waitress was so nice and helpful. She told us she had been working there for 16 years! The Italian bakery is adorable with so many options. First timers: if you get there and it's peak dining hours, you will need to wait in line outside. You enter the restaurant through the back of the Italian Deli. Someone will eventually take your name and party number. The wait is absolutely worth it! Don't let a long line deter you!

We stumbled across this place while walking through Little Italy! It starts off as a deli and turns into a restaurant. Looked super authentic. We were seated at a place where the pizza guys were pushing fresh pizzas into the oven. We were so tempted that we were over ordered. We got a margarita pizza, and a combination plate of spinach ravioli and lasagna with their signature marinara sauce! And wow 🤩 The highlights for us were the spinach ravioli and the marinara sauce. Our server was super sweet and overall the vibe was amazing! The pizza was a bit too cheesy and bland for me personally. But it was an awesome experience overall!

First only go if you ate really hungry, can reheat leftovers. The dinners are huge portions and soooo good. Soup is not a runny version of Minestrone. Garlic bread is wonderful. Pasta is well cooked and Lots of sauce.

You got to go so hungry. The dishes are so big and Jummy! Couldn't finish that one. You can split a combination dish with a salad with another person.

Thoroughly enjoyed a Works pizza with anchovies and some beef ravioli. The pizza base was perfectly fluffy and filling with great toppings, and the ravioli was fresh and excellently done. Great service too. We sat inside in the darker section nearer to kitchen, didn't realise there is a brighter and larger section next door. But it was quiet and perfectly OK.

Combination Pasta Plate, you pick any two pastas! Here we have cheese raviolis and lasagna with meat sauce, plus Meatball and Italian Sausage. Seriously, this plate is shareable or you have seconds for lunch, however you eat or divide it, it was delicious.

Food was great. Pizza is really good. Loaded with cheese and toppings, tasted very fresh. Atmosphere was cozy and fun. Had a parking lot next door with attendant for guests only so parking was no issue.

This was an amazing taste of Italy and hard to believe proportions... Thank you Tina for the awesome service and visit! We'll be back next time with the family on our next SD trip for sure. AWESOME!

Large portions of food, older establishment which gives it its characteristics attributes but technology can help. The waiter worked hard but unfortunately he was the only waiter and had been working since 10 am, he did his best. The garlic bread was awesome and the cheese is the authentic pizza cheese !! The meatballs flavor was great and well portioned.
