Best BBQ ribs we had so far! Even though the waiting line was long, we didn’t have to wait for too long, the service was also super friendly and nice The baby back ribs were very on spot! The meat was tender and juicy, with a smokey, grilled flavor and crispy touch on the outside The BBQ sauce was also super nice, a little sweet but not too overwhelming, overall a 10 out of 10 Chicken was a bit dry, but the grilled seasoning was great, dipping into the BBQ Sauce compensated the dryness The onion ring was definitely the highlight of the day, super crispy on the outside yet juicy and sweet on the inside, a must order!

Ironically, the meat was okay but everything that wasn't meat was really good. The baby back ribs were clean off the bone but they were a little dry - they only tasted good when it was drowned in the bbq sauce. The pulled pork was good but a little too smokey for our taste. But the fries were addicting and the fried onion rings were phenomenal. Would come again just for the fried onion rings. Also not a ranch fan but their buttermilk ranch is amazing. Their macaroni salad and potato salad sides were also really good! Not too vinegary, slightly chilled, and went well with the warm baby back rib bbq. Service: it's a little confusing but they only seat parties of 6 and up. If you have less than 6 people in your party, you need to find your own table which can be a bit hectic during peak times. But love how they let you/the customer grab as many to-go boxes and plastic bags and wet napkins as you like - so you don't need to wait for a waiter which can take forever since it can get crazy busy. Lines can be freaking long to get an order/table but it moves along pretty quickly.

Solid BBQ spot. Keep in mind this place is more focused on ribs. If you’re looking for things like brisket, this isn’t the place! The menu was great and all of the items we ordered were made to order and delicious! Their bbq sauce is amazing. We had to wait in a line for a bit, but that is always expected for places like this. The service was great and prompt. Loved the atmosphere as well!

It’s been a while since I’ve been here so I’m glad to see the quality of food has remained the same if not better. I went in at the perfect time, there was no line and the food came out quick. The ribs were delicious especially because I was craving something meaty. Fall off the bone ribs with a mouth watering BBQ sauce. The bar was nice and it also comes with service, so you can order from your table. Whereas the rest of the restaurant it’s ordered upfront. All in all I had a pleasant experience and satisfied my cravings. Highly recommend.

This place is popular. Great place to get very good barbecue in San Diego. Food was delicious. The best part is the worker, they make the experience much more than just a barbecue joint. Evan the Buss Shift Lead is so courteous and professional to us and every that I had nothing to worry while surrounded by 6 little kids and just enjoy my food.

Arrived at 8:30pm on a Saturday night and waited 45 min in line. It was worth the wait. Food comes out rather quickly after you order and it was some of the best baby back ribs and pulled pork I've ever had.

I enjoy eating Phil’s BBQ Beefy Ribs and Chicken-less Dinner which is good and delicious. I read on Yelp and Google that this is #2 for best BBQ in San Diego. They have many good BBQ foods like BBQ Pork, Chicken, and Beefy Ribs!! I also enjoy eating BBQ Pulled Pork with my Uncle. And the Onions Rings is also good!! So this is a good place to eat some good BBQ!!

Totally enjoyed this place today. They have a dog friendly patio, so we all had a nice lunch. My husband and I shared ribs and chicken with two sides. Coleslaw and potato salad. Loved both. Wished I ordered the large portion of the potato salad, definitely hit the spot. We were looking for a BBQ place for a while now and I think we found it!!!!

Food is consistently delicious. The staff is so friendly and processes the orders very quickly. I often order to go and they take care of our orders right away. Best BarBQue in San Diego.

We had the Brisket sandwich, pulled pork sandwich, large fries, and onion rings. A+ on everything. I could not believe how large and delicious everything was. The service was impeccable, and the quality of the food and flavors blew our mind. We did come on a Friday. When they opened so it wasn't crowded. Keep up the good work.

The restaurant is self-service style, however there is still staff to clean up and bring you utensils and napkins. The food is really tasty, the drinks area is a bit messy as it is also self-service, but the restaurant staff should be careful. I will definitely come back here if I have the chance to visit San Diego again. I recommend everyone to try the BBQ and ribs here, it's really great.

We treat ourselves to Phil's every time we visit San Diego. It's so popular that it's always mobbed and there's a line outside so if that's a problem go for lunch or have an early dinner. All of the food is great but they're famous for their ribs and BBQ sauce. Both their pork and beef ribs are SO good. Their sauce is so good we always take a bottle home and whenever we visit my sister in Austria she insists we bring her some. The staff is always great. Convenient parking and location.

Some of the best BBQ I’ve had in socal. Tons of food, extremely flavorful ribs and slaw. Onion rings were lightly fried paired with some ranch is the move. French fries were crispy and soft. The potato salad is still on my mind, very light and delicious. Get as many containers of their bbq sauce as you can get. Soak the ribs in it because it’s some of the best sauce I’ve had. 10/10 spot to check out when visiting

We tried beef ribs, which was very well-barbecued and tasty. I also added the sausage which you won’t regret ordering it! There was a long line ahead on weekday but moving very fast, thanks to efficient order taking cashiers. There are also hygienic sinks for handwashing since you should eat this food with your hand to enjoy it most.

Phil’s is a must every time I’m in San Diego! Great bbq spot mostly focused on ribs and chicken. I always add the “link and a drink” to get the sausage, it’s delicious. The servings are generous, we always have some to take home. The line can be a little long at times but that’s just a testament to how good it is.

A little too delicious! Had the baby back ribs w fries and coleslaw, and my partner had the beef rib dinner. The portions are huge, the meals incredibly delicious and the service is spot on! Highly recommend this place for a great meal and a fun atmosphere.

Very casual BBQ restaurant with very good food. My first time there came highly recommended by some friends. Be prepared to get very saucy, the meat is very tender it falls right off the bone. I don’t know about having that much sauce on BBQ it is up for a debates. For me personally I prefer the Texas style BBQ. The service was awesome, and they do have stations where you can wash your hands. Plenty of parking outside. I was very pleased with everything, if you happen to be in the area give it a try, I am sure you’ll like it.

Great food! We ordered six wings, which were fantastic, the four-rib meal with fries and potato salad, and a Broham (pulled pork) sandwich. The meats were tender and flavorful, and the sides were both high-quality. I didn’t personally love the sauce, but my wife sure did We were seated very quickly. Good ambiance, decent service, reasonable price ($50 total), and huge portions. Next time I visit San Diego, I’ll go back to Phil’s!

Tonight we sat in the bar area. It was a whole different experience than ordering at the counter. Our server, Roxy, was the best. A gentleman helped too but I didn't get his name. The food? Stop it. So delicious and consistently so. Their fries are #1 .. dipped in their BBQ sauce. Yum. I do have to be honest because what happened to your beans? No bueno. Used to be much better but we enjoyed ourselves and will be back soon. We've been coming here for decades.

Got here a bit before dinner time on a Wednesday and basically got seated right away by the bar. The restaurant was pretty full. All the servers there checked in on us often to make sure we were good. As we were leaving, the line was rounding it's first corner at about 6pm.

If you are visiting San Diego, then you need to eat at Phil's BBQ. I am from Arizona and anytime we visit we have to eat at Phil's. It is some of the best BBQ I have ever had. The staff is friendly and awesome. The cornbread is so tasty. I love all their sides.

Crazy vibes here Love the whole feel First time visiting, get the full baby back rib dinner, with any two sides of your choice. Thank me later My Suggestion to management: please put a Plexi glass where you place people's food, before you call people to pick up their food. People are nasty and stand there and talk over other people's food.(hope that makes sense)

Food is great. Ribs fell off the bone; chicken was tasty and juicy. The fries were crispy. Man, my mouth is watering just thinking about it again. Staff was friendly. Restrooms were clean. The only detractor for Phil’s is the long line to get in; but with that being said, the delicious tasting food makes up for it.

The service here is exceptional and the workers are all very friendly! Got the full rack of ribs and one beef rib; the baby backs were delicious, but the beef rib was a little dry. It's still delicious, nonetheless, and definitely a spot to try!

If you're traveling to San Diego and want great Ribs, you must stop here. - On Friday nights and Saturdays the line is always long and you will have to wait more than 30-45min before you order (worth the wait). - I went on a Thursday night around 8-8:30pm and waited no more than 10min to order, so it depends on the day and time you go. - You choose your own seating and pour your own fountain drink. - Big parking lot 👍 - Must get the Beef Ribs 🔥! It's the best thing on the menu. They give you 3 big pieces (sometimes 4 if they're feeling generous). You also get 2 sides. - Had the Trip Tip Sandwich as well. It was pretty good. Recommend sticking with the Beef Ribs 👈. If you feel like having BBQ Ribs in San Diego. This is a great spot!

We came in during a family vacation trip at SD. Big disappointment, especially it is advertised as the best bbq in SD. The baby back ribs were very dry. We love baby back ribs. We tried different bbr in different places also cook them at home. I couldn’t even convince myself this was baby back ribs. It just looks sth else. It confused me cuz the bbr is the most difficult to mess up! The beef rib was tasty though. The baked potato was just not cold. And the sauce on the sandwich was way toooo much! The sauce is the only thing you could taste. We ended up have to go to the cfa close by to get some kids nuggets for the little one cuz she had only 1 bite of her ribs. We had flight after the meal. Wish I chosen a different place for our last meal of the trip.

I loved it. I asked 6 different people before visiting San Diego, all of them recommended Phil's. I will be the 7th now 😎👍🏼

First time at this restaurant, and i was overwhelmed by their menu. After going back and forth on options, settled with sandwiches. All were delicious, but the service was incredible. Dom made us feel welcome and made sure we had everything we needed. A must stop in San Diego.

I ordered the sausage sandwich and I really enjoyed it. I loved the snap I get and the spices in it. I also ordered the rib-less and I liked it. My husband got the sweet baked beans and they were not sweet. Needs a little more flavor! This place was recommended by a friend. It was not bad. I would definitely have the sausage sandwich again with the fries I add to remind me of a polish boy at home!!

Solid play, all the way around. Service and food are equal in excellence. 1st time here. Leaving the marina I would always see the long lines..and thought , one day I'll go there. I'm glad I did. Beef ribs so soft you would think they were baby back. Recommend you go if you're within 50 miles or more.

San Diego native visiting from Washington State. We were surprised by not only the new bar put in place but by the menus. We were seated near Adrian, one of the bartenders. He was such a pleasure to run into. Great attitude, welcoming, work ethic, very knowledgeable. If you walk in, make sure to ask him for a recommendation 😉 thank you Adrian!! Next time you'll take the shirt off our back!!

The manager Alonzo made a good experience great! Ribs were great, chicken was moist, fries were a little dry. I would go again. It’s popular and we had to wait in like but it went quickly.

Too much waiting line.. Was here on Saturday night and I really recommend you to order it to go or uber eats etc. But food was good with reasonable price. Their baked potato's nice. Don't forget to ask for extra butter!

Very friendly staff. The food came out pretty quickly especially for a bbq restaurant. i went early lunchtime so i missed any of the crowds. Fairly average price for bbq. Their main sauce is a bit tangy and i like mine sweeter. All around still good food!

One of the best Baby Back Ribs and Pulled Pork Sandwich! Loved every bit of it! Best place in San Diego to have bbq meat! Long wait lines even at 9:30pm but the staff is fast, prompt and super nice! Well worth the 10-15 mins wait!
