We were initially seated outside on a cold San Francisco night, but were relocated inside within a matter of minutes, in the back room where it was quieter and easier to hear everyone talk. The decor inside is vibrant and modern. We were there for post-dinner drinks, and each of the 7 cocktails we got were unique and tasty. I appreciated the multiple gin-based offerings. All the ordering is done on their website, which is very convenient as you don't have to flag down a waiter.

My new favorite cocktail bar! I ended up trying every cocktail on the menu and I was blown away by the craftsmanship of each drink. Extremely aesthetically pleasing to look at and the drinks were well balanced. Each drink varies on flavor but you could get hints of fruity pebbles, melon juice, oat milk berry smoothie.

Mellow cocktail bar that just opened on Upper Polk. The cocktails were excellent and I enjoyed the relaxed vibe inside. I tried the Faithful Fool and the Pop Quiz. Both had bright, tasty flavors and were a bit different from what I would usually order. I also tried the kara-age which was quite good. I wasn't expecting to, but I really enjoyed the black curry dipping sauce that accompanied it. Give this place a shot for your next weeknight outing.

Editing my review: Visited again last night and it was a totally different experience! We were greeted and seated immediately. Staff was extremely friendly and communicative. Drinks came out super fast. Drinks were delicious. Thank you for addressing the feedback! Previous review: I wanna love this place but on both of my first 2 visits the service was painfully slow. I can’t justify sitting down and waiting 15-20 min before anybody greets you for your order. Hope they can improve this as the drinks were creative and delicious and the interior vibe is on point!

This is a great upscale cocktail bar and a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. My fiancee and I came on the opening day. For the first round we had a Wildcard and a Middle Child along with the kara-age, all of it was incredible! For the next round, I had a Japanese old fashioned and she had another middle child along with the uni to eat. It was even better than the first. Would recommend, and will visit again!

Honestly, you need to work on those “croquetes”. Just smash potatoes, nothing special and I had to literally open the croquette to double check if there was some meat in it, since the description in the menu mentioned something about it. Then, the veggies, oh boy! You can see in the pictures, we were served cole that was not seasoned, gone bad in the fridge, and even worst some parts of the cole had gone bad, really bad, not fermented, literally just bad!! Unbelievable, it’s not safe to serve food like that.

Exquisite cocktails with very unique flavors. They have a drinks menu but they can create any cocktail on demand. It's pretty incredible. The music is so good that it really puts you in a good mood.

Fantastic and creative cocktails—personally loved the Faithful Fool and the Okinawa. This is such a great post-date, late-night spot because it’s cozy and dark and somewhat intimate—but also appropriate for smaller friend gatherings. Great upscale bar overall!

Nice spot to share drinks and small bites with friends; great dry options on the N/A menu which makes it much more inclusive for those abstaining. Sharable small bites are varied and tasty. Would recommend for smaller groups as seating relatively limited, indoor and outdoor seating available but outside can be a bit chilly.

The level up - This was one of the best cocktails I think I’ve ever had. The flavour combo was honestly insane and I could have drank another 5. I woke up the next day still thinking about how good it was. Definitely high end pricing but I think it’s absolutely worth it.

Pristine ambiance, yummy little bites, cocktails were creatively unique and very tasty. Super glad we came in on a less than usually busy night, it gets busy!

This team definitely knows their cocktails. We had some of the best mixed drinks (Urban Jungle, Faithful Fowl and Sake). They took time to pair our Sake to the cocktails we were drinking and frequently checked in. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and similar to a speak easy. Highly recommend!

The Japanese-inspired menu and lovely hosts (including Pepper, the mascot dog), made Bar Iris feel warm and inviting. The Middlechild cocktail, featuring sugar snap pea, was light and botanical. Loved it! The Okinawa yam cocktail with oat milk, was heavy-bodied but the rum was a bit forward for my taste. All in all, I would highly recommend Bar Iris! The appetizers looked amazing as well as the cocktails.

Bar Iris has been on my list of cocktail bars to try for awhile! It definitely lived up to all the hype. I tried the Faithful Fool and the Pop Quiz and they were both incredible. They weren’t too boozy which was great for two cocktails on a weekday evening. They also are super friendly to all the sober folks or even just those that want a fun drink without any alcohol! Seems like it would be a fantastic first date spot. Excellent ambiance, nice staff, and obviously delicious cocktails!

This place has a lovely vibe and amazing cocktails! Would highly recommend a visit if you are in SF. The prices are reasonable for cocktails of this calibre. Definitely will come back to try their other cocktails in the future! We went at around 4pm on a Saturday and it was fairly empty, but it filled up pretty fast by the time we left at 5pm. Their cocktail list is pretty extensive and unique. We got the secret handshake, Linda Linda, and Okinawa. Secret handshake is their take on a boozy milk tea with a little bit of spice. Linda Linda is fairly light and delicate, not too sweet but very delicious. Okinawa is supposed to have purple yam but I wasn’t able to taste it as much. It’s still good but on the tart side.

Such a vibe and really creative and delicious cocktails, can’t wait to come back when you can get the food cause it looks so good

delicious cocktails. the food is on the snack side except for the fried chicken whick was really good. don't recommend the grilled onigiri unless you're willing to eat a lot of rice again, loved my cocktail

The Alley cat cocktail alone makes this a place worth returning to - but the Okinawa Yam based drink elevates it to an institution. Service can be a bit slow, but the staff were very accommodating on this point. Overall: Elegant flavor combinations, and skillful display of a range of Japanese flavors and skills (clarification, hard shake, etc.).
