Every month they keep charging my credit card $101.13 for no reason. When confronted, they claim they cannot refund the money and I'm forced to dispute the charge with my card carrier. I'll update my review when they stop trying to scam me. Update: Called billing department. They were confused and never called back to resolve the issue after telling us they would look into it further. Had to dispute with credit card to get money back (for the second time). Update #2: They just called again trying to recharge the same amount of $101.13. I assumed they only called this time, because the credit card rejected the charge. Update #3: Finally sent a real bill in the mail. Turns out the charge was for a small procedure they said would be free. We paid the cost just to close everything out, which we would have done months ago. Billing department doesn't seem to know what they are doing.

The Berman Skin Institute San Francisco Office is getting one star because Yelp doesn't allow 0 stars. The Berman Skin Institute has given me the worst possible experience I've ever had. On my first visit, I came in for a general check-up, and the entire time the doctor just tried to sell me on botox and laser hair removal and then forced me into scheduling my next check-up in the new year. A few months later I went back to Berman Skin Institute for an alternate health reason, but went to a new doctor, hoping they would be better. This new doctor was equally awful. She didn't give me any helpful information, didn't listen to the explanations/information I gave, and made me repeat the problem I was having multiple times. Eventually, I was told there was nothing they could do to help me at that time, and was sent home. I returned after my issue got worse and, eventually, they agreed to do a skin biopsy. I was told the results of my biopsy would come in 10-14 days however, after 14 days, I had heard nothing of my results. After 14 days I began calling them to see if I could get any updates, but all I got was that they would look into it, and never got a callback. On my 4th call, I was finally able to get my results, in which no helpful information was disclosed. However, I was told that since the issue had gone away (in the two months it took for this process to come to a close) everything was fine. To close this out, I have received a bill from the pathology lab they sent the biopsy to, which is normal, however, they sent it under the wrong insurance, insurance I haven't had in half a year. I called Berman Skin Institute to correct this, and their billing department told me that they don't know how this mistake happened because they had noted my change in insurance and it must have been something I did for them to charge the wrong one. To correct their error, I had to call the lab to get my insurance sorted out. Please, no one go here. This is a horribly run office with doctors that are just looking to make money and don't care about their patients.

Would not recommend this place for any medical appointments. The physicians assistant barely looked at my skin and prescribed a copious amount of steroid cream (8 times as much as I needed). She was terribly impatient with any questions I had — questions I had since no information on different presentations or causes was discussed or any drug side effects. Spent at most 3-5 minutes. Billed for $240. Reception was also inattentive and forgot about my presence - ended up waiting 20+ minutes.

The admin sent a form 1hr 33mins before the appointment. Called and told that if I don't do it online it would be a 30-min wait in the office. If I had no help in completing the form I would have arrived at the clinic late and would have been fined. However the clinic would not be penalized for making me wait. The doctor was almost 15 minutes late to the appointment. There is no regard for the patients schedule. The walls are flimsy and I could hear the conversation between the doctor and patient in the next room clearly. Pretty sure this is a HIPAA violation.

I searched for a skin of color Dermatologist in San Francisco for over a decade. I finally discovered Dr. Malcolm Pyles, MD, at The Berman Skin Institute | Medical & Cosmetic Dermatology. Dr. Malcolm Pyles, MD addressed my hyperpigmentation concerns and educated me on the safe use of lasers on dark skin. The office surrounded by a professional and compassionate team who takes good care of you. I am so incredible thankful for the expertise, commitment, and excellent care I received.

NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL. They provided misinformation about insurance coverage and I had to pay money out of pocket despite several confirmations. To top that, they noted exaggerated information about check up to demonstrate extra service whereas it was a first generic preventive skin check which took I guess not more than 5 minutes in actual. I do not recommend it at all.

No wait in reception, short wait in exam room but staff came to explain why. The physician was clear, concise with exam, diagnosis, causative factors and treatment all in a language anyone could understand! Perfect, my kind of visit!

Extremely poor service. Never returns phone calls. Never submits prior authorization on time and no follow ups with insurance. I always take my medication late because of their lack of care and procrastination. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place.

I’ve had 2 appointments with Krystal Sun. Each time she was professional and treated me very well while she was assessing me. All the other staff were welcoming and did a good job getting me checked in. I recommend going to Berman Skin Institute.

The registered nurse at Berman, Sarah Morin, is incredible at her job. I’ve gone now for 3 laser tattoo removal sessions and it has been a weight off to know that I’m in such good hands. She makes me feel comfortable during a pretty painful procedure and is extremely knowledgeable and communicative about the process. I would highly recommend booking her for all of your appointments at Berman. In the future, I want to book a hydrafacial with her.

Dr. Pyles was the best dermatologist I have ever worked with. He was thorough, very knowledgeable, and has spectacular bedside manner. It’s clear he loves taking the best care of his patients. Because of my experience with Dr. Pyles, I will be recommending my friends to Berman in the future!

I would definitely recommend Berman Skin Institute! The clinic runs on time, the staff were friendly, and most importantly their new doctor, Dr. Malcolm Pyles, did an excellent job with my Botox. I will be returning after a positive first experience!

Very friendly people, parking is not hard, and the office is quite comfortable. As a middle aged white guy with family history, having a dermatologist I'm comfortable with means I don't miss my appointments, and hopefully won't miss any developments. Ebu Scoy is the best!

Ebu and her support staff are just so friendly and efficient. I have recommended her team to all of my friends.
