👍👍 One of the better banh mi’s in San Francisco. It’s better than Saigon Sandwich in my opinion. Feels lighter and has more flavor overall. More authentic and closer to what you’d get in Vietnam People often mention sandwiches, sandwich, banh, Saigon, Vietnamese,

Cheapest meal in San Francisco, $5 for an awesome sandwich! Got BBQ chicken and BBQ pork, so delicious. Wish I had this in my town. Yum!

One of my favorite banh mi in SF! I got the bbq pork banh mi. Bread was toasted to order, soft, and crisp on the outside. Had the butter, mayo, and pate. BBQ pork was tasty and hot. I grabbed a banana leaf-wrapped dessert on the way out. (I didn’t catch the name of it.) SO DELICIOUS. The rice was chewy, sticky, aromatic, and perfectly mild sweet. Some shreds of jackfruit in it. Perfect. Can’t wait to come back

Been going to Saigon Sandwiches for years and discovered L and G a few years ago. Depending on who you talk to, people will still say Saigon makes better sandwiches. I agree. But sometimes Saigon has too many people in line and you just don't have the patience to wait! L and G makes the sandwiches quick and fast. I've tried other things there like rice and drinks. I would stick to their sandwiches. And for 5 dollars, there is not much I can complain about!

I love L&G so much that I carry an L&G loyalty card in my wallet. I used to prefer another nearby sandwich spot, but L&G is my main now. Their banh mi sammiches are savory succulent toasty toasted baguettes of tastiness. Get the special combo, and spring for a fried egg. The egg's extra, but fried egg! Fried egg. Did I mention fried egg? Thirsty? Get yourself a Vietnamese iced coffee.

Hands-down best banh mi value in SF! Reviewing because I live for this shop and have never wished a place to survive so much in this economy. For $5-6, you get the most loaded banh mi with the juicest portions of meat and stuffed full with pickled veggies too. They're so stuffed, I can barely hold them tight! My favs are the Chipotle Pulled Pork and the BBQ Pork. The bread is super soft and even great the next day if you toast it! I usually buy several at a time and portion them throughout the week. The shop is in the tenderloin so be aware the area can be a bit seedy. Don't recommend indoor seating either since it's small, but pickup is super fast if you call ahead to order. I always ask fo extra pickled veggies and the front guy is super nice about it! The sticky rice with sausage is great too. Imo, this shop is much better than the more famous Saigon Sandwich across the street. But see for yourself!

This spot is the best. I've eaten my way thru the menu 50 times over so it's well past time to leave a review. While Saigon across the street is good this place has the best customer service and better bread/sandwiches in my opinion...so if your own the fence give em a shot!!! Keep up the great work y'all!!

L&G is the epitome of what a hole in the wall restaurant is. There are three seats on the window counter and three seats right when you walk in. The window counter seats were already taken so I took my sandwiches to go. They make good sandwiches here. Today I had the combo $5.50 and a meatball $5 sandwich. Surprise! There are no whole meatballs in the meatball sandwich but rather spread across the length of the sandwich. This is my favorite. Their combo is not bad either. Service was excellent. It took about 10 minutes for them to make my sandwiches.

Don't go here if you're looking for a leisurely afternoon lunch. This place is in the heart of SF and literally a hole-in-the-wall. There's no seating available but a wide assortment of food. I never felt unsafe in the area, but you see all stripes on the surrounding streets. The shop itself is a mishmash of all types of foods. It's run by an older Vietnamese woman and I believe her husband. I've only been once and had the bahn mi. They were delicious. And you can't beat the price. I will definitely go back again when I'm in the city and looking for authentic Vietnamese food.

Before vietnamese sandwiches were readily available at many spots in the city, back in the day, the Tenderloin was where its at, (still is). L&G is a true definition of what a Banh Mi sandwich from the Tenderloin is! (Not to knock any other, some of my favorite Banh Mi places are in the outer Richmond/Sunset). The BBQ Pork was #1 for me. It had such a rich, deep flavor profile, tender and saucy. Truly delectable, the Combination Banh Mi followed suit. Delicately layered, defining flavor all around. A must try!

My favorite bahn mi in the city. Friendly and prompt service. It’s worth stopping by for one of the last bastions of cheap eats in the city.

Great authentic Vietnamese sandwich spot 👍. Though it resides on one of the most Open DRUG RIDDLED blocks in the Tenderloin, this spot provides a glimpse of hope in the form of affordable, authentic Vietnamese sandwiches and Rolls. It's also a reminder of all the great southeast Asian establishments in the area that may not be as popular to some cuz of the sketchy location, but will NEVER go out of style for us natives that appreciate it for what it is! Some of the BEST authentic Vietnamese and Thai establishments have ALWAYS been just as synonymous with the area, as the Drug trade. It's a shame that part gets overshadowed

Easily the closest tasting Bahn Mi you can get to one in Vietnam. This is the best I've had in the US by far. The bread is the star of the show.
