This was such a lovely piece of history to explore. The original mission church and grounds were beautiful and peaceful to wander around. We were unable to check out the larger basilica as there was a wedding happening when we were there. This was well worth the $7 entrance fee.

Beautiful. Just beautiful. One of the gems of Taos. Definitely worth a stop. Actually the whole little village is also delightful to visit.

When your fourth grader has to do their mission project, this is a good mission to work on. We paid the small entrance fee and walked around the mission taking several pictures. There’s a lot a great history here and a small museum we can learn all about the mission. If you are lucky you even get to ring the bell in the mission.

Beautiful mission: the building was completed in 1791 and houses a chapel. Next is the basilica which dates from 1918. One gets a brochure with the unique history of this site and so can wonder around at one's own pace. In the covered walkway between chapel and the basilica are drawings from the early settlement of this mission. A tiny museum shows some artifacts from the church. There is also a cemetery to visit. And there are public toilets. Take time out for a slow walk through the early history of San Francisco. A must see when visiting this city.

An affordable tourist attraction that’s worth visiting. The best part is probably within the church itself because it’s so old and because the painting is unique. There’s also a small museum and a cemetery, as well as a gift shop. The tour also provides access to the adjacent and much larger basilica.

The original mission here is one of the oldest buildings in California. The building survived the 1906 earthquake whereas the nearby newer building was destroyed, which is a divine intervention. The architecture, history, and exhibits in these walls are well worth a visit!

Definitely worth the visit. Lots of history here. I've lived in San Francisco for 10 years and didn't know about this place until recently. If you like history, you should plan a visit. Felt a little uncomfortable walking through the cemetery and checking out the indigenous artifacts in the museum, therefore no photos of that.. but the rest was pretty cool and surprisingly noone else was there!

Beautiful well preserved mission in the heart of the Mission district. Well worth the $7 to tour the numerous buildings and cemetery.

One of my favorite Missions. The Basilica is a wonder. Absolutely breathtaking. The Old mission directly next door is the oldest building in San Francisco ! I will be back for Mass !

Must see if you are in the Mission Dolores area. The original church was built back in 1775 by the Spanish missionaries when most of western US was under Spanish / Mexican rule. Some remnants of the native American and history are preserved but not much.

Everything a church should have... Beautiful stained glassworks, serenity, peace, and serving the local Mission community. I've always brought my out of town guest to this part of town. Now, with the holiday season, the festivities shone!

Very friendly people welcolmed us inside with a self guided map for our tour. Beautiful historic chapel, very beautiful Badlsilica. Everything was beautiful and historic. I didn't know that this church had the Pope's blessing with his half opened umbrella and huge shield near the altar. The museum , the cemetery, and diorama explained more about the importance of this area. A real must-see for all who love the church and the historic significance of these buildings.

Worth visiting the Old Mission Dolores Museum. The chapel, cemetery and gardens, together with the small museum of artifacts, give a good idea of how the original settlement started in the 18th century. Very helpful staff at the door.

Visited here yesterday, mainly because my daughter is learning about the missions in college. The stained glass windows in the church are beautiful. Particularly liked the garden/cemetery area, it is very peaceful. Interesting to learn a bit about the history of the place. The staff were friendly and helpful. Would recommend a visit here to anyone interested in the history of California.

This mission is just gorgeous in all of its original glory. The chapel took our breaths away. So much to look at and read and see. The outside original cemetery was so very interesting and extremely well looked after. They also offer a lovely gift shop, as in the cherry on top. A must see oh, and I did I say this chapel is the oldest building in SF that survived all of the earth quakes and fires.

How sad to see the conquistador with his foot on the Indian as if he were nothing. But the work they did to create this beautiful mission was exquisite. It still bothers me that the Indians were not considered humans but slaves. What a sad way to represent a Catholic Christian Church. 5,700 Indians were buried in their cemetery and they were the slaves of the Spanish.

Great mission! Gentlemen who sold us the tickets was very knowledgeable about the mission's history and its surroundings. The mission tour was about 20 minutes if you take your time. Basílica was beautiful and well kept for its age.

Simply put it's my second favorite mission! The Ballistica is simply amazing and gorgeous. Easy to find because it is on the corner of the block but you have limited parking available. If you have a hotel room it's better to request a ride to enjoy this place.

Beautiful old mission church. Small cemetery with graves of some of the early settlers of San Francisco.

Wow. Authentic catholic church. I felt as if I was in Mexico. The mission itself is amazing and the small tour area shows you the rich history of the church. Walking through the cemetery reminds you of how fragile life is. Within these walls, miracles are prayed for, and answered.
