This is a great place to see the Golden Gate Bridge! The view is great since you can see the bridge span the opening of the bay. Also the fort is fun to look around and the location makes sense as a point of defense. We went on a fairly windy and cool day so if that's the case when you're visiting, bring a coat or at least a wind breaker. Great national historic site and worth the visit.

This is a very picturesque area which offers multiple scenic paths to explore. Fort Point is directly underneath the Golden Gate Bridge so you can get some unique views of it. The fort itself is civil war area and it’s free to walk in and explore. The park service has done great work creating exhibits, informational signs and impressive maintenance of the fort. You can access the top of the fort for some great views there as well. A short walk from the fort is Torpedo Wharf which offers great bridge views along with closer views of The San Francisco sky scape and Alcatraz Island. Another path from the fort affords views of the Presidio and Crissy Field. A lot of color along the trails with numerous varieties of wildflowers present.

Its the Golden Gate Bridge, what more can I say? This is, in my opinion, the most iconic place to visit in San Francisco. I personally walked the bridge span without problem, but there are spots to stop on each side to visit without having to walk the entire bridge if you choose not to. Beautiful views from both sides! Definitely plan a visit.

We went on a Friday afternoon, the fort was open. There are breath taking views of the Golden Gate bridge. The fort itself is very well maintained and there are a lot of interesting displays to read. The only down side is that there is way too much emphasis on the Buffalo Soldiers in the fort. Good info on the lighthouse. The rangers were very friendly and helpful. There was no admission to enter the fort and parking was free. It was a little walk to the fort but not too bad. Note to all it's windy in the fort so dress for it. Even with the sun out it's cold as the wind comes off the Pacific Ocean. The best views were from the top of the fort so be sure to make your way up there. Overall a great place to spend an afternoon.

Great place with nice 19th century architectural style typical from US and quite similar to New Orleans style. There's as small exhibition showing how they were living in the fort but there's not much to see inside. The most important is the view to the bridge and beneath it, revealing all the structural details. It's Free entry ! And FREE parking which is incredible for San Francisco so go park there and walk up to the bridge, it takes 10 min and it's really worth it !

Hidden gem. Has the best views of the Golden Gate bridge and over the bay. A bit of a walk to the Fort but worth the effort. Lots to explore over a three floors

This place amazing views. A beautiful sunset spot in SF! There is no hassle entering into the building. The topmost floor closes at 4:45pm and the sites is closed by 5pm sharp so it’s best we plan accordingly.

You could park here and if you’re adventurous to go through the rocks at low tide, or scale the tide wall adjacent to the Fort, you could easily reach Marshall’s Beach within minutes. That beach is Nude friendly, gorgeous for sunsets, and breathtaking.

The fort is built on a rocky outcrop that overlooks the Golden Gate Strait, providing panoramic views of the San Francisco Bay and the surrounding areas. Visitors can explore the fort's military barracks, artillery batteries, and underground tunnels, as well as learn about the history of the fort and its role in protecting the San Francisco Bay.

DO YOU NEED TO BE IN NATURE TO CALM YOURSELF OR THINK? THIS IS THE PLACE FOR THE ADVENTUROUS OUTDOORSMAN (OR PHOTOGRAPHER) Absolutely beautiful. And there are little hidden bunkers everywhere. If you're looking for a beautiful picture this place can give you the perfect photo from anywhere. There's a few hiking trails and a beautiful beach to walk along. Take a stroll into mother nature.

Wonderful well preserved historic building in San Francisco. This place is filled with history. It’s a nice place to wonder and explore. The top floor gives you a unique view of the Golden Gate Bridge that stands on top of the building.

Free... Great experience. A photographers dream. The Historic Fort is pretty much as it was. Natural lighting on the lower levels...kinda cool to wander around inside. The views of the bay and Gold Gate Bridge from the Fort's roof level is well worth it. Parking is bad. Can get busy and fill up quickly. We parked far away and walked down to the fort. However if you are in to taking pictures...come here.

If you don’t have a car it’s a nice mini .6 mile hike down that is well worth it. You get to see a very close up of under the bridge and if it not foggy it probs one of the best spots to see the Golden Gate Bridge. It is free and really don’t need more then an hour of your day to walk around.

Gorgeous historical site with a sweeping view of the Golden Gate Bridge and wildflowers. Walk down the stairs for different angles of the bridge. Restrooms available. Parking but challenging at peak hours

When you look down from the vista point of the GG Bridge, you can see the Fort Point, a National Historic Site. It's a nice place to bring your family, especially young children who love history. Easy parking, clean public rest rooms, plenty of benches. It's a place to enjoy watching the big waves crash the rocks! Capture it!

Fort Point is the best place to see the whole Golden Gate Bridge. I was here at 4:30pm, so I could see the sunset at the same time. When the sky change to red and orange color, that was really fit the bridge color! At this point, you don’t need to be charged. There are some parking lots, so you don’t need to worry about the parking situation.

My favorite place to take visitors in San Francisco! For one, it has really amazing views of Golden Gate Bridge since it sits right underneath it. But the Fort itself is really cool as well. It's so much fun to explore throughout the fort, the vast majority which is wide open for you to roam at your own pace.

The historical site itself is not that super interesting but with some history. The best part is that you can view Golden Gate Bridge from underneath, which is quite unique, the view from there is awesome and fun to walk around. The small exhibition in the site is good as well. And IT"S FREE!

Fort Point is one of those places I always come back to when I’m back in the Bay. As a Bay Area native, there are some places that feel like home or places that remind you how beautiful the day is. This is one of those places that means a lot to me whenever I have friends who visit, I always bring them here, because despite all the different spots to view the Golden Gate Bridge, this one is my favorite, besides Battery Spencer. Entrance to the fort is free and so is parking. A great way to take in some history and you can walk to the Presidio from here as well! Although some tourist come here, it’s not as flooded as the other views despite how wonderful this perspective is.

Absolute must stop during your tour of the San Francisco public parks. Entry is free. Views of the bridge are unique and awesome. Place is largely empty.

Free to visit, limited hours, and onsite gift shop for small keep sakes. It will always be windy here be sure to bring warm clothes(regardless of the time of year).

It's a super nice place. Also great that it's free. It can be busy, but that just depends on the time you are there. but otherwise the view is really priceless. beautiful view of the Golden Gate Bridge and the bay. further a Beautiful view and clear sky Talked to many people who have only experienced this in the fog It was mighty beautiful the next day. After taking off with the plane towards the bridge, it was shrouded in ground fog and we only saw the pillars of the bridge

This is an amazing historical structure. A fine example of masonry, with interesting information signs discussing its history. Great views, too. Best way to get here is by bicycle. You can drive, but you'll miss the atmosphere and photo ops along the way.

I have seen this place for years but never visited. I had no idea how much fun I was missing out on. Wow!! It was a blast seeing all the items and history. They have way more inside than I thought. Plus the fort itself is fun to climb and visit all the levels. The top is the best because you can see all around for there and you are right under the bridge. I'm going again when I can spend way more time here.

I first came here as a kid when I was obsessed with all things American civil war and this is as good as it gets to that time period for the west coast. In fact, apparently this is one of 3 forts of this era west of the Mississippi. It’s free entry, absolutely stunning masonry work on the inside, and you have unbelievable views of the bridge, bay, and city. They give talks around 11:30am every day, and a cool museum made out of the old barracks. They have some unbelievable period cannons and even a Spanish cannon from the original fort that dates to 1684. You can get around the whole fort pretty quickly, 20-30 mins to see everything but it’s close to a lot of other tourist attractions so it’s in a great spot. Highly recommend.

What a fabulous place to visit. They have free ranger talks and tours and you can explore all four levels including the roof. They have some interesting exhibits in the barracks section. If you’re a movie buff you’ll instantly recognize the sight because many films were shot near there. Of course there’s an amazing view of the bridge too - and it’s free!

Great historical experience. Free admission! Plan to park a little ways away as parking is limited. Dress warm! Lots of wind. You could spend 2 hours here easily. Enjoy the views from the top.

aside from nearly getting hit by a nissan murano, i’d say this was a nice place to explore. the trails nearby are steep, but cool. the view is beautiful and the bay itself is gorgeous from this vantage. little crab 🦀 all over, not too many tourists, and a lovely ocean spray.
