This review is based off of a dining in experience followed by delivery. Dining was a 5/5 - excellent service, delicious food (see photos), and nice outdoor seating. Delivery made the dining in exp almost unrecognizable - the kale salad we had had previously was just kale with some dressing on the side and missing the toppings. The mac n cheese was cold, sour tasting, and bland and the scotch egg was undercooked and raw in the middle.

We picked Monk’s Kettle for a late bite after rolling in from SFO at 1045pm. Despite the late hour, the staff were friendly, the food good and the selection of brewskis s long as it was wide. The place is small, but has a long bar with s tv for sports watchers and enough booths to keep people happy. Not much to say apart from the fact that this is a solid neighbourhood joint.

Good food, great atmosphere, very good cocktails. We ate dinner here and had a few cocktails before heading off to a show. The staff was very nice and offered very good recommendations for food and drink items. It was a busy night and the staff seemed to be very busy, so service was slow. I enjoyed the "Roasted Mackerel Sandwich".

So so good! That chicken sandwich was incredible and my husband thought the Monk burger was great. Our children enjoyed the Mac and cheese and we ordered a side of chicken for them as well. Our server was very friendly and prompt. I don’t think I have anything negative to say, it was a delicious meal!

Chill spot to grab a bite and a drink. Really enjoyed the burger and love the Brussel sprouts.

Sooo, i came back to Monk’s Kettle b/c they were super responsive to my previous review… & yeah, they knocked it out of the park. My steak was super tender, fries were nice & crispy & the ABT 12 is back. Thank you, thank you. Service rocked, the food was stellar & i’m a lot happy/drunk 🙃😇… will be back next week for my steak/frites & those damn brussle sprouts that are like food from the heaves.

Huge beer selection! They have something for everyone. The food was ok, but not the reason to come. The burger was overcooked (we ordered medium rare but got well done). The brussel sprouts were completely covered in a sugar mixture, which could be ok if you were expecting it, but i was expecting a savory dish. We were able to get a 645 reservation by booking that morning, and the place was full when we got there.

I arrived for late dinner to the place and they only have the inside area open. I didn't have a reservartion and I sat at the bar. The place has a long bar and the stools are comfortable. The place in the inside looks nice and upscale. We ordered three things: 1) the steak frites which is a grilled steak with french fries and chimichurri sauce, 2) Mission fried chicken that comes with smash potatoes and collard potlikker, and 3) Magical Kale salad. The mission fried chicken is just delicious, the chicken is well cooked in the inside and the cover is crunchy and flavourful. The collar greens and smashed potatoes make a good combination to the plate. This plate is worth to try it. On the top of that the Kale salad we ordered has a white wine dressing which was the right complement for our meals. We ordered two beers for the drinks but the variety of draft beer and wine is quite big so you cand find any drink of your choice. The steak was ok but the chimichurri sauce it comes with was really tasty. Actually we used that sauce to eat the grilled chicken XD. My recommendation is to order chimichurri for the grilled chicken as an extra side. I definitely recommend this place for couples and small group of friends that want to have a good time to get together and talk.

Really amazing food! I loved the pickle jar, was such a generous portion of house made pickles.

Great beers selection, great food, great people. We wanted to grab a late night bite on our way home from a day of being tourists and stumbled upon this place. We could not have been happier. This is a great place to grab a late night comfort food meal and a night cap. The place has tons of charm, clean bathrooms, and the staff are very patient and nice. Don't fear if it seems far, it was a short walk from the bus station the took us up to mission and 18th from the end of the pier area.

We made a detour on the way to our air bnb in order to drop in at the Monk's Kettle. This was my first trip to this part of SF, but my friend had come several times over the years and decided we needed a burger and beer. Nice outside Patio - a favorite on a decent day to be outside, great food, and a good craft beer selection, including Pliny the Elder. Garlicy cheesy fries were delicious as was the burger..

I had the original hamburger and fried chicken sandwich, they tasted normal, not disgusting but not great. The garlic fries were good but they weren’t warm when served. Considering the price (18 with no sides), I prefer to just eat at In-N-Out or chickfilla. The atmosphere is nice though, I’d come back just for drinks.

One of my favorite spots to hang out and grab a beer. Love their beer selection here; they always have a great selection of sour beers and really unique stuff. They also have some of the best brussel sprouts I've ever had and highly recommend getting them if you come here.

A delicious spot for an american style dinner with great beer options. Me and my friend both had the burger with a shared order of the fried brussels and we ate every single bite. The burger was a bit pricey but worth it, and we wish we had the recipe for the brussels.

Great selection of beers and lovely wine. The food is super good too, definitely coming back to have a full dinner instead of just bites. Really love the ambiance in here for a catch-up with friends

This place never fails for food and beer. It has been consistently good since it first opened. The burgers, fries and especially appetizers are fit for a beer / pub like joint!

After months of wanting to try this place, I finally had the chance to visit. I had a friend visiting from Kentucky and suggested we try this restaurant and bar. We walked in today on a rainy day, and the place was pretty empty. Some people sitting at the bar, and a party of two sitting in the restaurant side. The sign stated to ‘wait for the host to be seated’ and for 5 minutes without acknowledgement, even with the short lady bartender making eye-contact with us, and us being the only two people waiting to be seated— the same short bartender lady finally then says ‘hi’ and we ask if we can ‘dine-in’. She then said, ‘sure, take a seat near the window’ in which we thought was the booth near the window. She then raised her voice and stated ‘NO, THAT OTHER TABLE’ (and I am not being dramatic either, she literally raised her voice at us). Both my friend who is visiting from Kentucky and I are both Managers in the Restaurant industry- and we both just looked at each other in disbelief after this lady spoke to us in the way that she did. We discussed whether or not we still wanted to dine-in… we decided, absolutely not. I am very disappointed in the unprofessionalism demonstrated by this lady bartender, the unwelcoming attitude, and this overall experience. With the many selection of restaurants and bars cascaded throughout our beautiful city, the last thing a customer deserves is to feel unwelcome and to be spoken to in a rude way. The bartender needs to check her attitude because it really is not acceptable and a shame. First impressions are everything, especially in our industry.

As a parent with a small child, I wish I could give this place a 6 out of 5. Monk's Kettle was maybe the best place I could have gone in all of SF with our baby. The outdoor space was super welcoming, the changing table in the bathroom worked, and the staff were patient and wonderful, to a person, when my kiddo started screaming. We got the Brussel sprouts, burger, and some excellent brews. The Sprouts were so good I want to send other places that make them here to figure out how they're done. I'm so, so happy this place exists, and it's one of the thousand reasons I'll never leave this area of the country. What a gem.

A fine selection of beers and some rarer ciders that I had to try. The lamb burger and the Monk's burger were both really delicious, juicy and well cooked. The server was attentive and knowledgeable. This spot is a favourite

The beer selection looked solid (albeit didn’t actually try any), and the general vibe of the place was great as well as solid service. We ordered garlic fries and a chicken sandwich. The garlic fries came out cold, but we’re still pretty decent. The chicken sandwich tasted a bit off as it wasn’t as flavorful as I was expecting. I can only describe it like the oil was stale (if that makes sense).

Less than expected. I checked out this place while strolling in Mission Area. A significant number of reviews with a Good rating score led us there... We ordered the crispy Chicken Burger, The Vegan one, and Chicken wings. None had a remarkable taste. Ps: they have a wideee range of drinks selection. Didn't try any. The outdoor seating was a bit annoying. We felt like locked in a cubical wooden box with no view to the outside. The overall experience was average, but I don't think i will be back here.

Great food and a great vibe I had the fried chicken thighs with greens and mashed potatoes and the chicken was fired perfectly. I would definitely swing by again for dinner and drinks .

I picked this spot for a date because, living in the area, I'd heard lots of rave reviews. I had a reservation for the outdoor parklet. It was separated into sections with individual tables and was lit up by overhead market lights. We had the sweetest and friendliest server; he really made the whole experience, offering us all kinds of recommendations for drinks and food. Per his suggestion, I ordered the kale salad and added steak on top, and my date ordered the burger (which they're known for). I also ordered a guava cider. We were given apt warning that the next reservation was coming up so could finish our food. Such a lovely spot; I'm definitely coming back!
