The old Asian guy who’s at the door is racist, he didn’t let me or my girlfriend In because supposedly I showed him my i.d too close to his face when his hands where full with her passport. I did not mean any disrespect at all. The guy already had an attitude because we accidentally walked in and didn’t hear him ask for I.ds and when we showed him it was a problem. Bad service off top! 4-7-22

Avoid. There is no welcoming vibe from the bar tenders. As our bar tender finished pouring my drink he chucked a cherry into the glass splashing me, but he had already scurried to the other end of the bar. Staff make you feel like they cannot wait for you to leave.

On vacation walking back to our hotel with my wife we see a sign outside saying “we need your support now” We wanted a bottle of wine to take back to the hotel and finish the night. Maybe a drink or two to see the night off. Went in and stood at the bar and the server was more interested in his mobile than even acknowledging us. Stood in front of him for about 3 minutes. Didn’t look up. Ended up spending 200$ somewhere else. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Watch out for the automatic service charge.WAY over priced. So many better dive bars within blocks. Friendly bar tenders but save your money for better bars. Enjoy the bright sign out front and keep walking.

This place was more expensive than any other place we visited. We came here for dinner and drinks. We ordered a pizza that cost $22 but looked and tasted like a 4 for $5 totinos frozen pizza you get from the grocery store. We asked and were charged for patron but were served well shots and charged a premium price. I wouldn’t enter this establishment again. The servers were nice but what else would they be when they are ripping you off.

Went in for 1 drink at 8:50 pm on may 29 2022 My glass was dirty. Picking pieces out of inside of glass. I let the bartender know. Not even asking for new drink. Just letting him know. Instead the bartender says it was cleaned as a defensive position. Just left. Poor customer service. Bartender shouldn't represent the company. Poor showing Sams Cable Car Lounge.

Really weird experience with this bar. We walked in pretty tired from travelling and just wanted to grab a drink, and were greeted with a staff member angrily approaching us demanding ID and glaring at us. We went to get it out, but the vibe of the place was absolutely terrible and it was quite obvious customer service was optional so we left. Can’t comment on the food and drink but if it matches the service it won’t be pleasant. For an establishment that has a “we need your support” sign on the front window, they aren’t going the right way about it. We went round the corner to an Irish pub and had a great experience. I’d recommend avoiding.

Long time fan, first time review. Nice, friendly, centrally located bar with great casual service. Fresh popcorn and nuts to snack on while enjoying beverage break from the streets of SF. TVs with sports and 70-80-90's music playing in the background. If I'm in the area I'll always stop in.

Nice place near Macy’s in San Francisco. It’s an old style bar with great service and nice drinks. The only thing I didn’t like there was options of appetizer. Their service was very quick and this makes it a great place to go for a quick drink.

The bar with the BEST vibes in San Fran!!! I would come back to this city just to hang out here. Jack is the best - chat him up and when you come back you'll feel like a regular! If you're fortunate enough to come in when Sam is here, his energy and smile are contagious. Don't miss the opportunity to visit the wine cellar downstairs. I'm telling you, if you come to SF and don't come to Sam's, you didn't come to SF!

Super friendly staff! Accidentally left my purse and had to fly back to Oregon the next day and they were so kind to drop it off at the Westin hotel where we stayed (Westin hotel mailed it to me for a small fee). :-)

The problem with this place is it’s too expensive for what they serve, specially $10 for a 12oz bottle of Miller light. I saw the Cure at Wells Fargo center in Philly in June and the same beer was $9.00. Then they add on a automatic 20% gratuity while the owner tells me how hard it is to survive. Be more considerate to your customers and they’ll come back, I won’t!!

Not very busy, but still inattentive waiters. When we received the bill we were charged for at least 1 extra beer. When told, the waiter started to argue and even told us to shut up. Not a way to treat your customer. Don’t get fooled by the fancy sign and name. Stay away from this unpleasant, not welcoming and less than ordinary tourist trap.

Service is great. Drink menu is almost all Vodka. Was charged 26 for a mezcal negroni with casamigos mezcal. Should be 0 stars but i’m being nice.

A cool spot offering a huge selection of spirits with a nice variety on the cocktail menu too! Service was efficient and friendly and the added touch of complimentary popcorn and nuts was awesome!! A great sports bar with all the games on multiple screens and a great selection of cigars was also on offer. All in all a great spot!!

I stopped by here before the theater and immediately felt welcomed and appreciated. I was impressed by the effort put into the cable car atmosphere. This location boasts its wine selection, cigars and top shelf liquors. They have a limited menu of normal food available at most bars. Every paying customer gets complimentary popcorn bag and nuts. It was a relaxed atmosphere to watch the baseball game on the several modern Televisions. Thanks for the great time and Hope to be back soon!!

Incredibly expensive. $30 for a house wine and a bottle of Coors. They try to hide the expense with some free snacks. Don't bother.

Great little place that's open (unlike EVERYTHING near it). The bartender was fun and informative.

This bar is great! The staff is friendly, the drinks are strong, and the atmosphere is chill. We watched the ASU game here and it was a vibe! Highly recommend!!

Popped in a few times this week. A very friendly and easy-going atmosphere. I was chilled so the made me a delicious hot toddy. A fantastic way to wile away a few casual hours.

Happy hour 2-6pm Mon-Fri - $8.50 beer/wine + 20% service charge - and it's a decent serve - see photo. Complementary popcorn and nuts to top it off. The hot dog got the thumbs up from my drinking buddy. Central location away from traffic with cable cars rattling by for SF atmosphere.

If you’re so skeptical about IDs just have a scanner. Don’t make people feel uncomfortable about visiting your business. Middle aged Asian man was rude and does not now how to treat a customer.

Nice spot. A bit too pricey on the drinks for what it’s worth. I get inflation is high right now but not expecting a beer to be $11.something

The place itself is very cool, service was fine, However the prices are very high. We left after one round of beers to find a more reasonably priced establishment nearby.

Bartenders were amazing and up to my standard as a fellow Bartender from Minnesota!!! Also love the music. Bathroom smells like pee, but I think that's a San Francisco thing so nothing against the bar. Great place!!!!!! Jack, Glen, and PJ were amazing!!! Reminds me of home!

Great place for you locals.. truly feel like the locals don't know about this gem. Let me sum it up.. after work u are stressed well look no further they got beer wine and liquor + popcorn!! Instantly u are greeted by what u want and popcorn 🍿. Classic come here and enjoy some food as well. Feels like a cigar lounge without the heavy smoking. A must stop when your in the city+ it's by bart 👍

Happy hour is always nice and I like that they give popcorn as a snack with your order. It's rare and nice to get a complimentary thing with your order these days.

Stopped in Monday around 1:30 PM. Had a quick drink and ordered the Mediterranean Veggie platter. Bar tender was friendly and attentive.

Nice bar but extortionate pricing. Bar staff are friendly and attentive but you're paying $16 for a rubbish beer after the 20% service. Avoid.

Terrible service the Old Asian dude in front is a piece of trash and needs to work on his attitude and customer service whoever he is manager or employee he needs to learn to talk to his customers. Never coming here and I do not recommend. you want a good bar go to golden gate tap room they have way better food and drinks are cheaper and better and it’s only up the hill.
