I think most of the opinions have already said it all so I'll be brief. Friendly and patient staff, fast service, good food (taste, consistency, texture, temperature, portions), clean place (outside and inside) with good lighting, and extensive menu. I had: - Steamed B.b.q pork bun - Pan-fried chicken bun - Peking duck with lotus bun - Vegetable egg roll - Green onion pancake - Spinach Dumpling Just go there and enjoy a good meal.

A nice dim sum restaurant with a relaxing and pleasant atmosphere. The food came quick and hot from the kitchen. The dishes were tasty and delicious. Definitely will come back again.

Love this awesome dim sum place! It’s definitely super popular. When we got there at 11:10am on Sunday. It’s already a long line over there. But luckily we got the last outdoor table. I recommend taro puff, Xiao long Bao and rice noodle rolls. The service here is nice. But I have to say it’s a little too slow for dishes to come. Otherwise it’s perfect.

Food was good. Order dim sum off menu and they deliver nice and hot to table. Wait was long with lots of tourists. Decor was upscale not typical dim sum place. Price was reasonable compared to other dim sum places.

😸 Feast for the Beasts! Came here for our Uncles Birthday and was stuffed like pigs 😹 One of the biggest Shrimp Claws I’ve had. You know I drowned them in that honey lemon mayonnaise sauce. Shrimp churngs my favorite of all the churng fun. The other two was Cha Siew and beef. The DIY Peking Duck (Bien Pei Ngap) is always Bussin. Don’t forget to FaceTime/Ring/Text your loved ones. Mindful Mondays Y’all.

As a SF Native this is one of my favorite DIMSUM restaurants off Grant St. It represents the taste I desire. East Coasters this is the place for you. We suggest arriving before 11am (30min) because within 15minutes their full with a small line out the door. We recommend trying the Shumai, Hargow, String beans, Peking Bao, and lastly the Lava Buns (the will explode). Enjoy! Bathrooms are downstairs.

3.5 ⭐ There was a healthy line waiting to get in so expectations were high. After about a 25 min wait on a Saturday during lunchtime, we were seated at a corner table. Ordered the shumai, spare ribs, tofu rolls, crab claws, turnip cake, and sesame seed rolls for dessert. Overall, the spare ribs and tofu rolls pass muster, the crab claws were a good size and quite tasty. However, the turnip cake was a little too doughy for my taste and the shumai was a letdown, as it tasted of frozen and unfresh pork. We didn't even finish all 4 of them. The atmosphere was good and the service fast and attentive. However, the food didn't quite meet our high expectations. Good but not great. Therefore 3.5 ⭐ overall.

Great experience dining here! Recommend the XLB, the Crispy Shrimp & Chives Dumpling and the Peking Duck with Lotus Bun. The dessert - Sesame Balls - were amazing light and crispy too. Loved the dine-in ambience, great options and would def recommend this place!

Overall: very inexpensive and tasty! The shrimp dim sum as well as the pork siu mai were incredible, I wouldn‘t get the buns however, as they are mostly „breading“. Still 5/5!

Clean, neat with great service. There is cheaper available in chinatown but not as good as this. Flavour and textures are all on point, making this overall the best ive had in sf. Im glad i had the opportunity to try the dimsum at city view. Would definitely go back when i have a chance.

Upon our arrival at around 11 am, we were informed by the attentive waiter that there would be a brief 30-minute wait, and we were promptly added to the waitlist. Our meal included delightful offerings such as shrimp dumplings, Shanghai siu lung bao, pork siu mai, crab claws, shrimp rice noodle roll, chicken feet, and the standout, sesame balls with red beans. Efficient service delivered most dishes within 10 minutes, enhancing our overall satisfaction. The must-try highlights are the flavorful crab claws and the harmonious sesame balls. The fried crab claws were a revelation, encased in a crispy crust with succulent shrimp and crab within. The dessert finale, sesame balls with red beans, amazed us. Reserved till last, they remained warm with a delightful texture. The red bean filling's sweetness balanced perfectly, while the chewy sesame ball defied expectations, testament to the kitchen's mastery.

Don’t do it. The dumpling wrappers were as thick as a piece of boba, making them a struggle to chew through. I’m not sure what kind of “innovation” they were attempting, but it was an absolute failure. I suspect they were trying to save on ingredients by bulking up the wrappers and robbing unsuspecting customers of a pleasurable dining experience. But wait, the thick wrappers were just the beginning of the horror show! As if the disappointing texture wasn’t enough, I had the misfortune of discovering a hair entangled within my food. Yes, you read that correctly. The kitchen staff must have thought I had ordered the “extra protein” special, and they generously added a strand of hair to enhance the experience. Bravo! Never again.

Super yummy dim sum!! The green onion pancakes are lowkey the best I’ve ever had! The were thin, crispy, and with minimum oil.

We concluded our walking tour of Chinatown with some dimsum on a Sunday afternoon. They said it would be 15 minutes to seat us but it took less than 5 minutes. The place was completely packed and very busy but the staff was able to service us relatively quickly. We ordered the rice noodle roll, chicken bao, chicken siu mai, vegetarian dumplings. The noodle roll was my favorite among these because it was very flavorful and delicious. The bao was disappointing due to a lack of flavor. The other two dishes were good too. We got jasmine tea as well which came in a big pot which we couldn’t finish. Will visit again to try other menu items!

The place was packed because it’s delicious! The service was fast. The soup dumplings are yummy, as well as the steamed buns. Definitely check it out next time you’re in Chinatown!

Came around a little after noon on a Saturday. While the restaurant was packed, our table of two got a seat immediately. Their dim sum menu had fried taro, scallop shi mai, green onion pancake, roasted duck, and more unique finds. Their green tea yogurt dessert was also really tasty. Great stop for dim sum! The restaurant is right next to a park outside, in case of a long wait, there’s much to do in the area. From the pictures, it looks like the interior went through a remodel - as the inside has a more modern, grey look.

I'll keep coming back for the food. I thought one dish is very good until I try the next one. I wish I had more tummy so I could have tried more of the dessert and their noodles. We had most of their dim sum and popular dishes, finger licking good. You won't even need any condiments. Quick service, you'll see people lining up outside to eat. Will come back and will taste every single thing in their menu!

9/23/2022. My wife and I last day in San Fran. With so many dim sum place to choose from, we decided on this one and it did not disappoint. Inside looks great, carpeted floors, looks high end and clean. When we got there for lunch, it was pretty full of joy. Service was great, after ordering, food came out fast. We ordered the Scallop Shu Mai, Shanghai Siu Long Bao, Baked BBQ Pork Bun, Chicken Feet, BBQ Pork Rice Noodle Roll, Green Onion Pancake, and Honey Black Pepper Beef Short Ribs. The beef short ribs have a strong black pepper, salt and sauce flavor. I didn't mind it at first, but after eating it awhile, I would need to drink water to clear the strong flavor. I didn't taste any honey. All the food tasted great, came out fresh. Service was great. Overall great food on our last day in San Fran. If I had more stomach room, I would like to try other food. The only bad would be we got a parking ticket parking in a yellow zone (parked on montgomery st.), which we didn't know as we are from out of town. Good thing our rental car did not get towed away.

SOOO GOOD - This was my first time in San Francisco, and I was super excited to visit Chinatown and get dim sum!! We ordered a bunch of dumplings, bbq pork buns, Chinese broccoli, beef chow fun and taro cakes, etc. Everything was super fresh and came quickly! The servers were nice and restaurant seemed pretty clean. Bathrooms were downstairs and down the hall. By the time we left there was a huge line out the door and people waiting, so it's definitely a popular spot!

TLDR: Fantastic taste, certain dishes are extraordinary but size of items makes the value not the greatest. City view is a great option for dim sum in the city. I'm giving it a 4 stars because in terms of value, it's not the best. Granted it's SF prices, the cost per size ratio isn't as worth it. However, the taste is very good, especially their Peking Duck Bao, pork siu mai, wok dishes like the eggplant & tofu. Also, their custard salted egg yolk bun is one of the best I've had in the city, if not the best. Would definitely come back for specific dishes, but would go elsewhere for others.
