The hotel is beautiful and classic. The standard hotel rooms are pretty small but standard in today's hotel rooms. It's been recently renovated but keeps the classic charm. Their gym is also better than most hotel gyms with dumbells going up to 70 pounds. When you walk into their bar it feels like walking back in time to a majestic hotel bar room with 3 story high ceilings and wood walls.

The room was unbelievably big. It was clean and well laid out. We had a 3rd party running late and the front desk staff did excellent getting his bags to the room so he didnt miss the venue. The parking was nice in that it's all handled by the valet, since the sideways hill parking in that part of town is a little awkward.

This was our first time in San Francisco. Bartender Jackie (She is management material, with how she presents herself and her impeccable customer service!) was amazing on Wednesday night! The wait staff and the other bartender (Mr. Ted) were also great on both Wed. & Thurs., nights! One issue on Thursday night...We were told that there would be entertainment at the bar so we cancelled our dinner plans outside of the hotel, to stay in and both eat and drink, at the hotel. Since we got hungry a bit early (We suggest eliminating the Chicarons from the menu, as they taste old and from a bag) and the entertainment was not suppose to start until 9:30, we reserved our table and went back up to our room for about an hour. Upon our return around 9:15, we waited until 9:45 and asked one of the staff where the entertainment was?. We were then told that the manager had cancelled the DJ because of a lack of patrons (The bar and tables were 3/4 full when we came back!). Once the other patrons heard this, they began to leave so we requested to speak with the manager. When asked about the entertainment, he laughed and made a joke of the whole thing saying "The DJ called in sick!" Both my wife and I, our friends and many of the other patrons, felt extremely disrespected. For such a beautiful hotel, with a great front of house, a beautiful bar and an amazing bar staff, to have someone managing the bar which lacks appreciation and professionalism towards it's patrons, could be a reason for many to not revisit.

Great hotel! Clean, easy check in/check out, modern decorum, awesome views, easy access to restaurants, shopping, and theaters. We stayed here for a night to attend The Soul Train Musical at the A.C.T. theater. Literally, we were able to attend the show, eat dinner, and attend the after party at the Redwood Room located inside the hotel without leaving the block! Yes, valet parking at the hotel was expensive, but it was worth it for the convenience and safety of our vehicle, and we never had to move our car! I would definitely stay here again.

Nice rooms, comfortable bed, great working desk. I enjoyed the bedside alarm clock with the LED light and Bluetooth connection, to wake me up to my favorite songs. Nice city view from the higher floors. A giant chair in the lobby adds peculiarity and fun to this traditional hotel. Breakfast is not included but they have a restaurant annex. A bit on the high price side.

First time staying here and loved it. Staff is really nice and helpful, hotel is clean and updated. Rooms are very spacious. The bed was very comfortable, I slept like a baby. Price was pretty great. Would stay here again.

My son and I, who is 9 years old, stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. The hotel is very nice, clean, and has its own history. However, two individuals left a very unpleasant impression on me regarding the service and the attitude towards the hotel guests. When you are in a foreign city, it is important to have a place where you can return, sleep, and eat comfortably. But here, every day I experienced arrogance, disrespect, and ignorance from the reception staff. Their names are JASON IE and TONY. I still can't understand how to describe their attitude towards the hotel guests because I noticed that they behaved this way not only with me but also with others in the following days. They was absolutely not family friendly
