Terrible experience, after I made a reservation for a client and her two babies as they had a doctor's appointment in the City, and after calling to confirm she wouldn't need the credit card used for the room reservation, they wouldn't allow her in and kicked her out of the building at midnight with no where else to go. The staff said they had to close and there was no way to get in touch with the staff to negotiate. Awful service!

We just returned from San Francisco where we stayed at the Van Ness Inn hotel. $475.00 for 3 days. The inn isn't too far from Fisherman's Wharf. We caught Uber to many sites. Ok. So, I was shocked at the condition of the room for the price. Old furniture. Blinds held together with blue tape. 1 face cloth, one bath towel. We had to use our cell phone to call to ask for more toilet paper. There were two of us in the room. I did like the shower, it was large. We went out exploring and thought someone was going to clean our room or replace the face cloths. Nope. Didn't happen. Even though most of our day was out exploring, I still like to return to a decent hotel. Oh yeah, because the lock didn't work on the door, we put the chair up to the door.

The only good thing about this motel is that it's walking distance to the ocean. Other than that, it did suck (yes I know it's a one star) but regardless it should have a tv & fridge that actually works. Also not enough outlets to charge electronics for a city that has many picturesque sights that kinda sucked.

Beware! Room conditions are seriously un kept. The cleanliness of the guest rooms are sub par at best and pose a real health risk. The substandard conditions have been reported to at least two front desk agents and I tried with all due diligence to tell a manager but the front desk is purposely preventing me from speaking to a manager by not making available the correct times a manager would be present. Stay here at your own risk!,

Seeing the reviews I never would have stayed here. Unfortunately I didn’t have a choice as I booked on Hotwire. I was supposed to get a 3 star hotel but this hotel was selected despite Google clearly stating this is a 1 STAR hotel. Another shady thing was they asked for a $100 cash deposit. Nobody uses cash anymore and when I said they could take the deposit on my credit card like every other hotel and business in America they acted perplexed. I was supposed to stay 2 nights but after seeing the room I didn’t feel safe to have my girlfriend and I stay here so we left.

Room very small and cramped. I asked for a room with two queen beds got a room with two full beds. Much smaller than a queen. There was only one wash cloth, two hand towels and three bath towels. I checked in with three people for three days. When I asked for a couple more washcloths and another towel they said they would bring them to the room. Still waiting, and I most likely will still be waiting for those towels until the minute I check out. I love the location of this motel, but I will look for a different motel next time.

Check in was smooth and easy, and the woman I interacted with was very nice. The experience turned sour the moment I opened the door to my room (203). There was an odd smell in the room I couldn't place, the sheets were all still dirty as there were strands of dark hair all over them and under the sheets, the furniture was in very poor condition and were very dirty, and the smoke detector was removed. The location to the sights was fantastic, but the room was disgusting.

It was nice for the price. Close to pire 39. My guy is disabled so we stayed in the ADA accessible room. The bathroom was nice & big with a bunch to roll right up to railing around on both sides. But just couldn't grasp the fact that the shower head was fix to the wall up high and at least 6feet away turn on handle just as far.. being nearly impossible to shower alone yet the water did reach his body with me aiming it across. We do plan on returning hoping that my suggestion for a handheld showerhead made sense to the family that seem to own the Inn

The location and parking is plus otherwise I would not say the experience was good. My expectations were not very high but basic things were missing. We dont expect to have a room with broken window and fixed with towel, also there were roaches in the room (see pictures). There were other rooms available, the hotel could have put us in another room but they didnt. We definitely did not ask for change of room either because we thought it is just common sense to not give such kind of room to paying customers. Also, roaches are not something one will expect at a place where they pay to stay. The hotel could have been a great spot only if the management could fix basic things. Hope they do.

The room was fine. It had linoleum floors that could have been a lot cleaner

Bearing the price in mind, very correct. My room was clean and practical. Very handy location. Real parking. Min point :poor noise isolation. And due to covid, service down to bare minimum.

Exactly what we needed. Elevator for our fully loaded bicycles was a nice bonus. Great location for heading to Fisherman’s Wharf. Quiet at night. Decent room with comfy bed. Awful pillows.

As far as budget hotels near the piers, this hotel is worthy of the high review. Besides the free covered parking and location, the hotel was clean and the staff was pleasant. It has the appearance of and many of the standard features of a 2-star level hotel but it looks like some of it had been updated recently. There are rooms available with separated spaces (no doors between beds but a separating wall). I've been told the rates go way up during the busy season but it was quite affordable in November.

I stayed June 3, 2021 in room #109. NO, I repeat NO hot water. No smoke alarm! Bathroom tissue holder broke, tissue on the back of toilet. No phone to call the front desk, about the lack of hot water & smoke alarm. Sheets seemed soiled from prior customer. Nothing was plugged in, Ihad to plug everything in to use. Could not even find a plug in for my IPhone charger. No manager available to explain problems to. I would not recommend this place to stay, find somewhere else.

Bloody linen, the power for the room kept going out when using microwave..when I asked for a new room they said they had no clean rooms or clean linen to give us … I seen one of the workers come out of a room with bed bug spray and so I looked at the bed and it was covered with blood that was within a week old

I don't know why this is a 1 * motel. It's better and quieter than some hotels I've stayed in! Clean room and friendly desk manager. Thank you.

SUCH A RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE. THE GUY WORKING AT NIGHT HAS SUCH A BAD ATTITUDE, MORE WORRY ABOUT HIS SLEEPING TIME THAN HELPING CUSTOMERS IN A NICE WAY... PLEASE DONT USE THIS HOTEL, THE WPRKERS ARE MEAN!!!

This place is not as it first appeared! It was dirty, the bathroom mirror was broken into several pieces! The ceiling had a previous leak that had black mold and was crumbling! Numerous other areas had similar spots. And the view out our window was a brick wall 2' away and covered in vines! And this place says it's pet friendly however they repeatedly called us complaining our dogs were constantly barking but they were not! There were numerous dogs at the hotel so I don't know whose dogs were barking. They also pretend to be a motel 6 and they clearly aren't πŸ˜•

Currently the Motel 6 at Fisherman Wharf no longer Van Ness Inn. Was overcharged $20 when checking in brought it up to the front office and they fixed the mistake without a hassle. The only downside was that the water heater couldn't keep up demand for hot water and pressure was bad / borderline horrible. Everything else was great.
