Very good Indian fusion food. Of the dishes we ordered, the best were the Black Sheep kebab and Green Pea& goat cheese Kulcha. Worth visiting another time to fry the rest of the dishes they have.

Loved my dinner experience here. Best Indian food in the Bay Area. This is definitely not your typical Indian restaurant with typical Indian dishes. Definitely a Michelin star experience. We ordered the following items: 1. Green pea Kulcha with truffle - delish 2. Black lentil daal 3. Chicken Tikka Scotch Egg - Yummy 4. Tandoori Artichoke - loved it Definitely recommend this restaurant!!!

Hands down one of my most favorite fusion restaurants! Have been here couple of times, and have always left happy and super satisfied… A bit pricey, but I love the innovative food options, they have a great ambiance (a bit too crowded coz of its popularity) and the beatification of the entrees. I have loved every item on their menu so far, including all their meat and vegetarian options And yes, don’t forget to check out their remarkable cocktails collection.

My first and only Indian restaurant experience in US. The pricing was reasonable, friendly staff and a good meal. So if you are craving Indian definitely a good option.

TLDR; good quality food, authentic flavors but portions are small, so order generously. We came on a relatively quiet day, and so the restaurant wasn’t crowded at all. Reservations were quite pointless. My one beef is that rven though they have a load of tables, they don’t seem to cater to your preference. For a place, where the bill is easily $100 a person, the service doesn’t seem to match up. The food overall is really delicious, the flavors are authentic but the plating is unlike most Indian restaurants. Between the three of us, we ordered : - 2 Dahi puris (which are absolutely fabulous and I highly recommend) - Edamame hara bhara kebab - Chilli cheese kulcha (takes me back to my undergrad days in India) - 2 paneer pinwheels - Dum aloo - Chana masala - Saffron rice - 2 orders of rotis A round of drinks The list sounds really long for three people, but given the portion sizes, this was enough to make us feel stuffed. I can’t say a single bad thing about any of the dishes we order - we couldn’t eat fast enough!

So i will list all the pros and cons but overall this is not that restaurant which you visit when you are really hungry because the portion is too less and price is too high, may be for a kid it is ok. Nice ambience Nice cocktails Taste, i would say not bad Coming to cons Too pricey Too less portion (you can see the photos) Not many options in menu. They charge (5$ per adult) for any food from outside and eating in (for us it was a cake). The person who took our order was kind enough to waive that for us. Ok so, for 4 people 4 drinks, 2 entrees, 3 breads and 3 appetizers the bill was around 400$.

For the price that you will pay here - food is average, ambience is average, service is okayish. I tried traditional butter chicken here - I have to say Chicken was very soft and almost melts in your mouth. Kudos for this talent in cooking. However I was disappointed with the gravy. In my view it had an unnecessary tangy flavor - didn't quite like it.

It was my first time at this place and my favorite was the Tandoori Octopus. The marinade was spot on and the octopus was very tender. I have one suggestion and that is to ask your server to repeat your order. I told our server to cancel the Tuna Behl but the she didn’t and brought it out anyways and we had to pay for it (despite it being an error on her end). I had to force myself to at least eat some of it, to not waste $$. It’s not something I’d try again as it was too lemony for my taste. The Lamb Shank was very tender but the curry gravy could use a bit more garlic flavoring. Being from Fiji, a country with both Southern and Northern Indian community presence the curry I tasted here was ok and lacked garlic flavoring (in my opinion) and the masala blend could be different too. Our server gave us a scoop of Mango & Tamarind sorbet to share, to compensate for the error in her part for not canceling the Tuna Behl (which I’d prefer she take it off the bill)

Phenomenal food and cocktails. Some of the best modern Indian food I have ever had. The dahi puri was incredible. Butter chicken was also fantastic. Service was top notch. I appreciate that they have outdoor dining. Don’t skip dessert - their ice creams and sorbets are amazing.

The best Indian meal I’ve experienced in San Francisco. A huge step above the ordinary with a particular San Francisco flair for the creative. Incredible faux lamb and delicious vegan dishes across the board. All suffused with a depth of flavor and spice I’ve been starved of in Paris. Magnifique! (So, why not the fifth star? The wait staff, as all over SF right now, were clearly unhappy in their work 😔 It’s not the San Francisco service I’ve loved for over twenty years. )

Went out for dinner yesterday evening to Rooh and had a great time there. It's a trendy Indian restaurant with a modern ambiance and located on Brannan Street. What makes the place distinct is the way the food is prepared and presented. The service team are helpful and quick - we would like to say a special thanks to Puja our hostess who made sure we had a good meal. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would recommend the place to anyone looking for a nice dinner evening!

We went on the 12/24, so we only had access to their Christmas menu. Choices were spread across 4 courses. Amuse bouche: taftan was amazing—very good texture and great masala flavor. Biscuit was pretty substandard. Course one was shorba, one biscuit. Course two: chickpea kebab: not for me, very meaty texture which I don’t vibe with. Eh on the minuscule chutney as well. Main course: beetroot goat cheese kofta: really really good! Solid crunchy outside, beetroot was well flavored, goat cheese wasn’t oozing or crumbling away. Would get this again. Dessert: Shahi tukda: Err, tooti frooti all over is a no go. Bread was stodgy and stiff. Chocolate mousse was pretty good (tbh, very average for cost, expectations)

We went there for a birthday, reservation was a little messy, had to call in multiple times to get the date and time we wanted, somehow they kept messing it up. The drinks were pretty good, more on the tasty side ( as in don’t expect a buzz easily!) and pretty unique to the theme. The food was really delicious and pricey, we tried most of the appetizers. Lamb shank and lamb Fry main plates are so good too. Also don’t forget the Garlic Naan and the Saffron rice !

We loved the food. We ordered the jackfruit tacos, cauliflower kolliwada, cheese kulcha and chicken ghee roast from small plates. We ordered the monkfish in allepey curry for large plate with side of roti and rice. The small plates were awesome.. loved the taste. The monkfish was just ok. Could have been more flavorful. Shrimp and fish was cooked to perfection, but the curry was not the best. We decided to have dessert elsewhere so did not get a chance to try it here. May be next time.

The only Indian food I would eat in SF - please avoid any of the Indian/Pakistani restaurants 'coz they aren't authentic and straight trash. Rooh is a unique take on Indian food and I must say they do it so darn well. Everything on the menu is unique and scrumptious. I am not a cocktail girl, but I really loved these. Bibek was so good in suggesting us dishes based on our preference and he did such a great job. The Saffron brioche and the Tacos were my most favorite. Thank you for the experience, we had such a great time.

I dont know if I can say enough about this restaurant. The food was so good and the drinks were so impressive. The service was outstanding! I went for a work outing and we had a large group - about 25 people total. As I've been to so many similar functions - I was stunned at the personal attention each of us got. Especially since there were 2 vegetarian and 1 gluten free in our group - they never failed to help with all food options throughout the night. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Food was generally good, except for lamb shank being too salty to my liking. I like the seafood dishes a lot. Service was okay… had a hard time getting attention from the server for things we needed

Upscale Indian food that was delicious. Their banana drink was a bit watery but otherwise the food we had was delectable. We’d recommend their fried cauliflower appetizer, their pita platter, as well as their vegetarian dumpling main. Their butter chicken was nothing special so we’d recommend exploring their other dishes for a more adventurous option.

Really nice Indian+Western fusion place. Though it's pretty expensive it's really good to visit with family, friends and business. Really good ambiance and good choices for drinks. This place is always full and may be pre-booking. The jackfruit taco are simply amazing.

Rooh isn't any other Indian restaurant - it's a culinary experience. The food here is so good it's unfair. It will impress you as much on your 3rd visit as it will on your first. The menu is creative with a lot of interesting options that you won't get elsewhere and there's always something left to try for the next time. Service is exceptional. Will always strongly recommend this to anyone who’s visiting or living in SF!

Great food options. Service was average, the bartender kept forgetting that he had to get my drink and finally got it after I reminded him thrice. Anyways, I will focus on the good experience part. Great food, lovely presentation and a good variety of Indian food. The ambiance was decent for the downtown location.

  • 5/5 Sue Y. 3 years ago on Google

Elevated Indian Food in SF with multiple locations in other parts of the country! As an Indian, looking at the price on the dishes definitely hurt! But after all recommendations from friends, I had to give it a try! Their drinks l revolve around the concept of Ayurveda and have some Indian detail or ingredient in them! Their food is good but not something I would talk about for years! The Dahi Puri is a must!! The service can get way better! The smug face on the servers was not welcoming and they never bothered to recommend us anything. But apart from that You should at least visit it once!

Amazing experience at one of the best restaurants in the city! The food was lip smacking and the cocktails were very interesting! Great Indian music and atmosphere added to the charm! It was like being transported back to India during the royal times! Our host Anne was extremely sweet! Must go to place if you are in SFO!

  • 4/5 Sunstruck T. 1 year ago on Google
The atmosphere was so serene. Loved the color scheme and the bar set up. Food was flavorful and melts in your mouth, especially the butter chicken, but I found a little less spicy than I would like. Definitely more for the general American palate than for those who crave spicy Indian food.

Absolutely recommended, been here for the first time and the food didn't disappoint at all. Ordered several items but gongura shrimp is the highlight of the dinner. The meat items ordered are succulent and the desserts are perfect with right amount of sugar and flavor. The hospitality is also up to the mark.

One of my Indian friends recommended. I was doubted at first since it doesn’t seem like regular authentic place, but i was surprised how good and creative the food is. The price is reasonable. The atmosphere was super nice and our server was the best. I would love to come back in near future

Absolutely delightful food. The subtle but great rethink of these Indian dishes with new flavor was executed excellently. Service was also on point. I had the butter chicken and garlic naan and it was amazing. Also family style had two of the lamb dishes and for someone that is not a lamb person I thought it was also great

One of the best Indian restaurant in San Francisco, the food is very good taste wise and very creative. We ordered Lamb pepper fry, plant based kheema pao(bun bread), Baby corn koliwada, saffron rice, panner pinwheel. Among these the best was plant based kheema pao and Lamb pepper fry. Paneer pinwheel was okay but the cream gravy served with it was too heavy. The service here is very good. Our sever was the best.

  • 5/5 Adyasha P. 6 months ago on Google
Was here for a milestone birthday celebration. The team greeted with a handwritten message on card. Definitely recommend their dahi puri, olive chilli naan, paneer pinwheel. The assorted papad platter is a great starter. Amongst their dips, avocado 🥑 raita was great! We ended up ordering another large bowl just to have it with main course. In the cocktails, Bombay crusta was more on the sweet side. The kumaon swizzle was a sweet mango flavor. They decanted the wine 🍷 for the table. A complementary dessert 🍨 in the end was a sweet gesture. Service from staff was great as everyone was friendly and checked in regularly to see if we needed anything. One thing to note is they don’t have an overwhelming number of items on the list. Deciding from the menu was a good experience too. The staff was great on clarifying for any concerns. You may wanna add a note early on when reserving for a special occasion.

Darling! Second time trying this restaurant in San Francisco. We loved it so much, we tried the Chicago location too! Their food is elevated, flavorful, Indian food, and drinks are so delicious! Jin was our host this time. He was great! Thank you for giving us a superb experience.

  • 5/5 Tyler V. 3 years ago on Google
Very good food and full of flavor. Prices were high and portions were small, but were what you would expect at an expensive restaurant. There were no bitter surprises.

This is my favorite steakhouse in the area! I haven't been to all of them yet, but I have gone to quite a few. It has a classic feel and the service was attentive to our group. I didn't really pay attention to anything around there, but it wasn't noisy and it was comfortable. Now for the food, I decided to go with the porterhouse. That was delicious (and huge)! I don't remember if there was anything special that stood out about the steak. It was just cooked perfectly, nice and tender, and so juicy. Everything just worked. I haven't been back in a while, but I can't wait for my next stop!

  • 5/5 Ramya M. 3 years ago on Google
ROOH is an amazing dining experience. My favorites are the tandoori octopus, the scotch egg, and the chicken makhani. The cocktails are inventive. Creating your own cocktail is a unique and very fun experience. They have a selection of different liquors, spices, and essences to choose from to build your own drinkable masterpiece. The ambiance is elegant and the service is the best I have ever seen on the west coast.

Indian fusion restaurant where the bigger the group the more things you get to try. Come with a minimum of 4 people in your group, or you will be sad that you can't try enough things family-style on the menu!

great food at great prices. one of the few places i keep going back too and haven't been disappointed. nice range of dishes a few traditional and great vegetarian dishes we usual choose at least one vegi one meat rice and chapattis to share and a couple of beers for around £20. no surprise that it's always busy usually takes 10 to 20 minutes to get a table but worth the wait.

Loved this as the first outside meal we had in COVID times in the city. Dahi Puri, Jackfruit Tacos, Tandoori Chicken Kulchas, and Lamb Keema were awesome. Drinks were unique as well - paan old fashioned and Anar-Kali.

  • 4/5 Heidi P. 3 years ago on Google
First off, the pricing is so reasonable. If you love Indian Food like we do, you'll know it can get pretty expensive. The portions here are generous and the meals come out quickly! Second, and most important: their Makhani sauce is the best either of us have ever had. We've lived in NYC and Chicago, both big braggers of their Indian cuisine. But in both of those cities, we know nowhere that could even hold a candle to the greatness that this place is

Came here on a Thursday night and it was quite empty given the pandemic, but the waiters were quite relaxed and accommodating given the circumstances. We had a group of 6 and there was plenty seating. Food: I got the vegan jackfruit tacos and boy were they tasty! The jackfruit tasted like beef and was super tender and the ratio of taco to stuffing was amazing! Good crunch too. Service: Really attentive waiters and nice and they refilled our waters a lot. Ambiance: Classy clean Indian restaurant with fine dining vibes and dimly lit. Overall, would come back after the pandemic to try more food, but for now exercise caution!

Great upscale Indian fusion food. Appetizers were more interesting and flavorful in comparison to entrées. Octopus dish is very delicious and definitely looks bigger on the menu. Take on old fashion was too fragrant for my taste and felt flat.
