Place is a disaster all around every way you look. Bunch of angry & depressed locals here that are guaranteed to put sand in your gears. Bartenders don't seem to want to work, but you can't serve yourself so you're at their mercy. Irish girl that works nights is straight up rude and will make you wait for your drink while she chats with her friends. Her wet, highly visible open cold sores are a turnoff as well as a public health hazard for someone serving. Elvis, the owner, lets the regulars and other patrons considered "family" get away with behavior that would normally ban them from any reputable bar. It doesn't seem like the owner wants to run a bar at all. Clueless patrons sit right up next to the pool table and then get angry when they have to move so you can shoot a ball. Pool table is unlevel and the cuesticks are not maintained, hence the reason why it is free to play. The more times you go here, the worse the staff treats you. Drink prices fluctuate between $7-$9 depending on which bartender was working. There are much better places to go around here and spend your money. If this was the last bar on Valencia, I'd drink in the alley with the homeless addicts, that would be more fun and less trouble.

The King runs the Dover. Elvis rules! Thanks for keeping the Dover open and welcoming. Always good folk drinking and chopping it up. What's not to like. Big up Dover!

What a great classic Irish bar. I love the vibe here and some of the patrons are truly characters. Great drink prices, really nice bartenders and a free pool table too! Try this place on a mellow Tuesday/Wednesday afternoon or hit it on a banging Friday/Saturday. If you want off the chain crazy try watching a Giants or Warriors game here. Good times. Oh, and the Guinness is poured correct! Take your time, Guinness, you know what’s up.

Defines the epitome of a mission dive bar. Single pool table. Cheap drinks. Interesting patrons wreaking of BO. Sounds about right

Not my favorite place. There are some nice beers. Maybe I was there at the wrong moment, but I didn't think it was a lot of fun. Also the bartender didn't want to talk, he was just cleaning. He seemed a bit annoyed. Also I didn't really like the location. For locals maybe it's nice, but for tourist just skip this place.

Perfect place for the world cup today. Couches, not too crowded, dog friendly, bring your own food. What more could you ask for?

I love this place. Just a laid back peaceful bar. People of all nationalities hang out and get along. Good vibes. Not too loud so you can still talk, and it seems they open up the pool table for free very often.

Hidden away on the far side of Valencia, it keeps a great local crowd and a homey vibe. A well maintained pool table for fifty cents a game. Could use a better selection of beer.

Great family bar! As soon as you walk into the Dovre, you're not alone anymore. Good music is playing, the bartenders are friendly, and people treat you like you're a long-lost friend. Prices are fair, and everyone is respectful plus the pool table, jukebox, and pinball machines help spice up your time there. This is a dive bar, so be prepared to go back to that time in San Francisco history where simplicity and no-frills reigned. I love this place and Elvis (the owner) and his bartenders make sure you're taken care of. This bar is more than a place to have a drink, it's a place to be with friends and chill. Sometimes they even have DJ parties like for Halloween and they're rockin'. One year, I decided that hosting a New Year Eve's party are too much of a pain for me, so went to the Dovre, and Elvis, his girlfriend, friends, and family gave me the best NYE I could ask for. This bar has a long history and it feels good to support a family-run small business with caring people. THX Elvis!

This is a racist establishment and its so-called “Irish bartender”, visibly drunk while working, verbally abused me (a resident of SF of Middle Eastern origins) and a visitor friend from my home country. For your own safety, if you are not “white enough”, stay away from this place.

Me: The perfect Guinness pour doesn’t exit in San Francisco. Dovre: Hold my beer…..

A genuine "local" pub, with proper bar stool atmosphere, good fun, good pints, and a pool table to while away the evening.

Run down dive bar which I'm okay with. It's not bad. Just needs a little work. What I didn't like is the girl tending bar being rude to me out of the blue.

Went here for happy hour with a large Group. Enjoyed strong drinks at reasonable prices served by the lovely and talented bartender, D. Also, don't believe Yelp: Dovre takes credit cards.

Great dive bar in the Mission. They don't serve food except for popcorn and occasional pop ups.
