The San Francisco Maritime Museum is a great place to learn about the city's rich maritime history. The museum is located in a beautiful Art Deco building in Aquatic Park, right next to Ghirardelli Square. The museum has a variety of exhibits, including a large collection of ship models, a replica of a 19th century sailing ship, and a variety of artifacts from the city's maritime past. The museum's ship models are particularly impressive. There are models of ships from all over the world, from ancient galleons to modern container ships. The models are beautifully detailed and give visitors a great sense of the variety of ships that have sailed the seas over the centuries. The museum's exhibits are also very informative. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful, and they are always happy to answer questions. The museum is a great place to learn about San Francisco's maritime history, and it is also a great place to spend a day with family or friends. Here are some of the things I liked about the San Francisco Maritime Museum: The ship models were amazing. They were so detailed and realistic. The exhibits were informative and interesting. I learned a lot about San Francisco's maritime history. The staff was friendly and helpful. They were always happy to answer questions. The location was great. It was right next to Ghirardelli Square, so we could do some shopping after visiting the museum. Overall, I had a great time at the San Francisco Maritime Museum. It is a great place to learn about the city's rich maritime history. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting San Francisco.

Their docked ships are a wonderful way to learn about some of the local maritime history. While I was sad about one of their larger ships being closed for the season and or repairs, there was still plenty to explore.

The museum is currently under renovation and doesn't have much of a collection, but the building itself is what is so interesting. It was a WPA project, originally to be a public bath house, and has beautiful art deco murals painted all over the building. The rangers who work here were incredibly friendly and informative. Looking forward to coming back when the renovation is done.

(Translated by Google) In the wharf area, west of Fisherman's Wharf and a short walk from the famous Pier 39, is this maritime museum. In reality there is not much to see, when I went, the two ships could not be visited internally, but only from the outside. The Eureka ferry is very interesting and interesting, and contains many vintage cars and trucks. Worth a visit (which still lasts a couple of hours) despite the entrance fee.

Very cool place to visit. The guide said it used to be a bath house before it was a museum. Beautiful WPA art on all the main floor walls. Also check out the whale.

They have renovations still going on, so very little is on display. They do have a bunch of ships you can visit though (you need to pay separately for those, but it's free on some days) and those trully are interesting. They even have a few guided tours with some interesting stories about the ships, so make sure to join if they are happening during your visit

Not a huge exhibit, but nice views of the harbor from the museum and the exhibits they do have are nice. The building itself is a nice art-deco structure.

A small and free museum in the uniquely designed building. The murals inside the bathhouse have been restored and are beautiful. Many intricate ship models and miniature recreations of life along the docks of San Fracisco. A full-size sailboat donated by a Japanese sailor who crossed the Pacific multiple times is on display. Well worth a visit, especially if you are in the Fisherman's Wharf area.

Small little beach-side museum that offers some interesting information and artifacts from the Wharf. There's not a lot to see here, but admission is free, so if you are in the area and have a few minutes to kill, its a good place to stop.

Really cool place to see artifacts for free. The models of ships are incredibly intricate and quite large. There are also some artifacts such a portion of ship that burned. A good short visit for people not committed to a full museum trip.

Inspiring story, photos, exhibits. There is room for improvement and they are improving bit by bit. Admission is free.

Fascinating stories of San Francisco and the role of ships in moving grain, lumber and fish from SF to England, the Pacific and up and down the coast. Excellent models and a solo cross Pacific sailboat on display.

A very good photo collections and some artifacts dating back 100 to 150 years of Maritime history. The tools we use to navigate the ocean could very well be much different. Yet human comradeship and animal companionship remain the same from the photos displayed.

Yes, there’s the obvious old boats to check out, which is worth doing. However, the hidden gem is the monthly sea chantey singalong. So much fun!

A fun, and one of the few free places on the waterfront. WPA murals and interesting architecture and exhibits.

Stopped by for a quick look see. Super interesting display of a person from Japan that sailed from Osaka to San Francisco in 1962 on a little sailboat called the Mermaid.

Was able to breeze through this museum quickly, which makes it a great stop when exploring the area. It's free, so its worth checking out to learn more about SF maritime and its history. The museum also has a really nice outdoor area overlooking the beach, which made for a nice pit stop to relax and get out of the sun before checking out what else the museum and surrounding areas had to offer. Good for all ages.

A grand place for a museum and within such an uniquely designed building near the water!! Lots to see and do within, and no entrance fee (as of a few years ago). While you are moving through the different exhibits and model vessels, please don't forget to admire the fabulous artwork on the ceilings, the walls, and in some places, even the floors!!! Also it's a great view looking out past the municipal (curved) pier and the historic Hyde Street pier toward Alcatraz!

(Translated by Google) It is a good museum to know the boats inside, there is one of them that was a cargo ship and is set as it was at the time, super interesting. If you like naval related you can not miss this museum. (Original) Es un buen museo para conocer los barcos por dentro, hay uno de ellos que fue barco de carga y está ambientado tal y como fue en su época, super interesante. Si te gusta lo relacionado a lo naval no puedes perderte este museo.
