A great place to hangout and find tasty, authentic restaurants. I love the Daiso store. Unfortunately, the malls are not well ventilated. Even being on the coast, it's hot and stuffy inside these buildings.

Great place to visit to immerse yourself in the Japanese culture. Many restaurants (Ramen, Sushi…) desert shops, ice cream, donuts, book stores and more. Highly recommend visiting.

Japantown is a stop you don’t want to miss, especially touring this mall in which you can find a variety of Japanese cultured gifts, treats, entertainment, and foods. It was very crowded here on a rainy weekend with a vibrant, youthful, communal-like atmosphere. Stores were welcoming but also cautioned people not to touch/play with items as in the past there has been stealing or broken items (pls be aware & respectfully read the signs). There was one side of the mall that was less developed - wish we could see more stores or restaurants being brought in. The building itself was a bit rundown and I hope to see the mall renovate its general, main hallways to accommodate the expansion & vision of the surrounding their stores & restaurants.

This is MUST VISIT location. Authentic Japanese cuisine with plenty of shops to explore. Perfect place to grab a bite, drink or shop for a taste of asian culture. This Japantown is one of the few largest in our nation and it didn’t disappoint! Grab yourself some Takoyaki, mochinut donut and boba tea and enjoy!!

Whent they're on a weekday. Japan, town was very busy. A lot of easy, fast food places to eat inside. A lot of old remnants of Japan. A little difficult in finding a parking spot.

Have been twice and still haven't explored it all. Cannot wait to go back. We have tried takoyaki and real mochi. The products in the stores are real good quality and it's a great place to practice your Japanese if you speak it or are learning.

I love this town even after 25 years since my 1st visit. Food is good and a lot of variety. The adjacent hotel is so beautiful and friendly.

Sadly a little run down as can be expected from any mall these days. The selection of stores is pretty good though and most retail spaces are occupied. Atmosphere on Friday night is fun with lots of teens and college kids roaming around in anime hoodies and cosplay.

Main shopping center in Japantown. The center has two sides east and west. We came after the pandemic hit and we saw the aftermath. Many of the shops were closed down. But we were still able to shop at the other stores that were able to remain open. We also had lunch at one of the restaurants inside. There are a few to choose from depending on what you looking to to eat. Sushi, ramen, curry and more. On the east side of the mall where Daiso is you'll find this cute bridge and fountain underneath. They also have also model displays out of buildings and clothing. It's definitely worth the walk here if you are staying outside of Japantown.

Love visiting here and would love to actually live close by. Very genuinely Japanese atmosphere, not just a put-on. Great shops, amazing food choices, mostly a sweet part of town too.

If you're interested at all in the Japanese culture you could easily spend a day here. Hundreds of shops where you can get cute souvenirs as well as restaurants with many different Japanese food on offer. It's indoors as well which makes it ideal when there's bad weather.

As an Easy Asian People. I was a little disappointed. But it's still cool to hang out here. There are a lot of teenagers. Young men. Some Japanese restaurants have not too much choice. The parking lot is enough to park. It is not so Japan now.

A Gem for Japanese Culture Enthusiasts, but Parking Tips Needed The Japan Center Malls at 1737 Post St, San Francisco, CA 94115, is a captivating spot for those who adore Japanese culture. Navigating parking can be challenging on the street, but there’s a convenient parking garage with reasonable rates. To save money, check if your chosen restaurant validates parking – not all do, so inquire beforehand. The mall itself is a haven for Japanese culture lovers, offering endless activities. The diverse food options are a highlight, and I’m yet to pick a favorite spot. Keep in mind that there are two entrances, so choose your restaurant wisely. Overall, a wonderful location, but a heads-up on parking can enhance the experience.

Its December 2023 and after living in the Bay Area for over 10 years this was my first time at the Japan Center. Had driven by many times but never went in. What a great surprised I had. I cannot believe how is that I’ve missed it. Quite cool place to go shopping for anything Japan related. There is good restaurants, anime, books, bars etc. Saw a few people cosplaying, dressed up as anime characters, which is entertaining. Nice way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Will try to come back during cherry blossom season or any special event. Highly recommend.

This might just be my go-to if I couldn't afford to travel to Japan! Heaps of shops and authentic Japanese food and bubble tea shops. It can get very busy on weekends and parking could be somewhat difficult to find. My minor complaint would be the lack of seats throughout the shopping centre, making it hard for those spending the day here to have a rest before continuing on. Overall a great place to immerse in Japanese culture and food.

AMAZING. So many different stores with unique items to explore. This center has everything in one spot- from food, to stationery, to appliances!! Enjoy window shopping/ buying cute souvenirs for pretty cheap! (In some stores) There is also authentic food, make sure to try that. ❌ There is no parking actually near the center… but its not that hard to find a parking garage nearby. Many tourist attractions nearby, like the 5 layered pagoda structure, torii (traditional japanese red gate), and many more! So stop on by with some friends, and it will definitely keep everyone entertained for the whole day!

Exploring a tranquil Christmas at Japan Center in SF. Half the restaurants are open, half closed, creating a unique blend of festive and serene vibes. #ChristmasSF #JapanCenter 🎄🏮

The mall has plenty of Japanese decor to make you feel right at home. Red lanterns and arched bridges allow visitors to explore the interior of the building.

Every time I come to San Francisco, this place is an absolute must stop !! It's one of the only places I've found that actively sells Gintama merchandise in multiple locations, and their restaurants are absolutely delicious!! If you're there, definitely stop into Kinokuniya books, they have so much anime merchandise and general books to enjoy. Maido has two locations- one upstairs that is namely stationary, and downstairs which is namely knickknacks and trendy goodies- and both are so much fun to shop at with amazing employees. You can then cut across to UDON MUGIZO, where they have an amazingly fast service with yummy noodles !!

A MUST see in San Fran. Beautiful plaza connecting two halves of this huge indoor mall. SO many fun Japanese shops and restaurants, you can come back again and again just to try different foods!

Such a fun place to hang out and shop. The square was very relaxing, especially after a weekend of walking all over the city.

This shopping center is very clean and you definitely feel safe shopping here. The place is very beautiful and the staffs were very polite and friendly. They have very nice restaurants that serve delicious sushi. Feeling like in Japan environment. The guards and other staffs are friendly. It observes health protocols properly. So, I enjoyed shopping and eating here. The parking space is not so crowded. I love strolling here and see what's new to this shopping center. I will recommend this shop to all of my family and friends, especially the restaurants.

Although they are not a big population of Japanese in SF, The Japan center Mall is as close to Japan it gets. We love it here as we can get many Japanese grocery, food, anime, everything Japan. Although the many shops closed after the pandemic, the recently opened Nippon-ya has famous snacks from all over Japan.

Definitely worth visiting! There is a small pagoda in front of the mall. Mall is filled with restaurants and stores. We tried visiting as many as we could. Food was great! Don't miss out on mochi !
