😠 It’s a cool location, and the staff is absolutely great. I hear the classes there are some great trainers, (but also some with extremely poor gym etiquette). If you come to a gym to use the gym, you’re better off using the 24hr fitness at 1/10 the price. People often mention classes, membership, staff, Equinox, equipment, location, great, workout, fitness, room,

Nice gym but way too crowded. They should do something to cap membership numbers or limit at peak times, it’s impossible to workout. For a luxury gym you end up just standing around waiting on machines

I’ve heard rumors of Equinox starting to kick members off grandfathered plans. This happened to me here. Somehow my valid credit card that had been used for membership dues for the past 2 years supposedly didn’t work *once* and they failed to charge me. Instead of reaching out to me to resolve the issue or ask for alternate form of payment, they quickly cancelled my membership. When I noticed about a week later, explained, and asked to get back on my membership, they had a new rate for me that was almost $120 more expensive per month(!). Nope.

Wow. The place is really as bad as reviews say. It was my first time there and I wanted to check it out. Front desk people were rude and refused to give me a tour of the gym. I had to walk myself around and found that it was nothing special. I wanted to see if it was better than my usual fitness sf Fillmore gym and it’s really not. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming there and it’s a much nicer atmosphere and honestly there are a lot more machines and workout varieties.

Don't buy anything from their store - terrible customer experience, shady, and aren't willing to work with you at all. My gf is really small and tough with sizing but they told me just buy it, don't worry about sizing, bring it back and they'll figure it out. Brought it back the next morning (too big) and they'd only take store credit 12 hours later. Their pants are all too big for my gf so there's nothing I can buy -- too bad enjoy this $110 credit you can't use now. Take better care of your members that are customers! We pay enough for the membership to gut us on stuff like this..

👎👎👎 Be careful what you sign up for. I've been a member for over a year. Once you give them your credit card, they'll keep milking it for as long as they can. Ask them explicitly about hidden fees, membership minimum requirements, and cancellation policy. There's a lot of stuff in the terms & conditions, stuff that you're not gonna like. It's overcrowded and simply not worth the money. I would not recommend it to friends. 🏋️🙅‍♀️🙅‍♂️

Terrible equinox location - employees are kind, but gym is way too small, overcrowded, and has limited hours on weekends. They need to cap their membership given the size of the space

Steam room is broken more often than its working. Half of lockers dont work. Facility is understaff and employees are not well trained. The location is a Crunch Fitness with eucalyptus towels.

This location just doesn't do it for me. They have the equipment oddly placed and cramped next to each other. It's hard to find your own space when it's busy. The locker rooms are dirtier than I'd expect and there's a camera placed at the entrance which you have to pass to go from lockers to showers ..so I wonder how much they see. The people that generally go there just stand around by the equipment snapping selfies in the mirror while you patiently wait for a turn on the machine they're not using. I hated going due to the atmosphere.

equinox van ness is better. it gets extremely crowded quickly and I've had times where every single machine is being used. the only positive about union st is the nice working area and the wood floors in the showers

Felt welcomed at Equinox and able to work out here productively. Darek the trainer, Crystal who on-boarded me and the staff are fantastic. Clean, great amenities and vantage view of the Golden Gate Bridge from the top floor.

way too crowded and no one cares. People drop heavy weights that makes the whole floor shakes “who cares ”. You need to wait for so long to get a spot to do a workout And the best part is when you want to cancel your membership (good luck)

was considering coming here until their mass advertising on youtube showing completely fit, sweaty, sexy folks working hard and looking fit. saying they have personal training for everyone. after my trial, i didn’t feel included. i felt like i didn’t fit in, like the gym was too full of beautiful people casually working out and schmoozing, just being seen. five stars for amenities, but this gym seems much more suited for wealthy, beautiful, athletic people. i need a lore humble place to work on my fitness, not an ego-inflated hangout. also lack of parking. fitness sf is way cheaper and has tons of parking and way less ego with the amenities. also no bull sign on policy with no contract or “dues”

Equinox gyms are always reliable and clean. I love my all access pass. This location isn’t a great value because of the small size, but the amenities and trainers are amazing. Always made me look forward to working out. Private Pilates with John helped me achieve my health goals and kept me feeling great through 9 months of pregnancy, even with an old hip injury.

Nice enough club, but a bit cramped and unintuitively laid out. Also there don't seem to be water fountains on either of the workout floors, which is a huge pain if you happen to forget your water bottle.

Disgusting and ugly and old and just plain dumb . Don't even bother coming too this location because it is trash and a waste of your time. A personal trainer sexually harassed me here and I've been literally to scared to come back ! So I'm wasting a lot of money because I'm in a contract. The manager just told me --your being a baby-- and that was rather shocking if you ask me .

A fantastic high-end gym experience! 4 floors of Differentiated pace and vibe, with incredible facilities that include a eucalyptus steam room and waterfall showers. Not to mention the incredible classes and instructors! Kelsey and Nikki are my favorites- they bring MAJOR ENERGY to my fitness experience (: Two years later and I’m still a happy member. If you are on the fence, I’d recommend 10/10!

Terrible sales team: very pushy, and rude. TLDR: Equinox stole from me 3 PT sessions and “forgot” to give me a $200 referral bonus. Allow me to talk about the time a sales representative tried to convince me to re-subscribe to the gym. But first, the two episodes that made me cancel my membership the first time. Episode 1. Sales representative suggested me to book classes with a personal trainer, she called her “the best in the gym”. Trainer was never available during weekends (I had explicitly requested to work with someone that could train S/Su). Trainer did not show up to 3 sessions, but registered the sessions as taken on the system; then left to work at a different gym. This costed me ~$300 I was so upset I put in my 30 days cancellation notice. Episode 2. During my 30 days cancellation period (still a paying member), a friend of mine became a new member using me as a referral. She signed up with the same salesperson as I did.I was supposed to receive a $200 referral bonus. I never did. When I was conctacted by the salesperson to join again, I told her about the two issues. I said that I could have considered joining again AFTER taking the 3 PT sessions that were stolen from me, and being granted the $200 referral bonus that the salesperson “forgot” to give me. The salesperson answered with an offensive and rambling email, pretty much saying that it was my fault and I could go to hell. She told me that I could have gotten the 3 sessions and the $200 bonus ONLY after signing up for another year (which is like $2.5+). She added as well that she was not surprised about the behavior of the trainer, which was not at Equinox anymore “for very clear reasons” (but was she not supposed to be the best?). I forwarded her reply to the head of the sales team, who NEVER got back to me.

This location is not up to the standards I'm used to at other Equinox locations. The weight floors were packed...every bench was in use, I felt like I was competing for mirror space to check form, and folks were waiting for the cable machines. The women's locker room was a mess (is it normal for members to leave dirty towels on the benches and counters instead of putting them in the hampers?). The staff were friendly and the workspace downstairs is comfy and useful. I'll be giving the Pine Street location a try...

Good facilities, but they basically tried to cheat me out of the intro package by delaying and never responding to my requests to schedule the sessions, so be prepared for that.

Really poorly managed. The membership advisors nickel and dime you at any instance. The managers are usually not available when you wanna meet them, and instead of meeting you they leave notes for each other that completely misunderstands what the member wants to do. They changed my membership without my request and didn’t honor the price originally agreed. The equipment such as ankle straps are really cheap material that break often and they don’t get replaced when asked. I have had a consistently horrible experience with this location of equinox compared to others I’ve been a member of.

Very crowded and old rusty gym equipment. When I pay $300 per month, I don’t expect to wait up to 10 minutes every time I want to use a machine or bench. The only reason that I’m a member is because it’s the nearest gym to where I live.

I honestly prefer showering and using the facilities here over my own apartment! Daily steams have become a ritual and the Kiel’s can’t be beat. The equipment is modern and continually updated, and the workout classes in particular are challenging and never too packed. I recently took a class by Kelsey Mead, and I’m still sore a week later. Can’t recommend her highly enough! The price is high but the caliber of individuals you are meeting and spending time with can’t be beat in the city. It is money well spent.

Nice location, cool facility. Some of the equipment was broken (base/bottom part of bench press on 4th floor was loose). Mens lockers were dirty with used towels thrown around. Showers and toilets were especially unclean. Other locations around the city are much better.

Pros: price of admission is steep so you don’t get any sketchadoos that you see in cheaper gyms. Locker room is nice and overall the gym seems clean and smells nice. Oh and the chilled eucalyptus towels are a nice touch. Cons: price of admission is steep. Gym appears big (4 floors!) but yet there’s not a lot of workout space and it’s ALWAYS packed. I’m *always* waiting to use something whether it be a squat rack, a bench or really anything else. It’s comically packed full of people. It’s also hot and humid AF in there. I’m sure it’s by design. I kept my membership for about a year but recently terminated it because nothing there justifies almost $300 a month, especially when you’re constantly waiting for equipment.

Beautiful new gym in place of a theatre, so it still has whimsical theatrical accents. Lots of AM and PM classes (spin / cardio / yoga / etc.) with tons of clean machines and a eucalyptus steam room! And of course Kiehls for Equinox products. It's expensive for a gym but it's a little piece of heaven in your day that makes it totally worthwhile.

This is one of the coolest looking gyms (interior and exterior) I've ever been to. A decades-old retro movie theater was converted into a modern luxury gym while retaining some of the original architectural elements. I'm sure this gym may have landed in a Architectural Digest article once! But the design does limit workout space. There's very little workout space and very short on equipment. It's so popular on weekday evenings that you can expect to wait in line to use one of the machines.

Equinox Union Street is a complete disaster. The facilities are in shambles, with broken equipment and dirty changing rooms. The trainer is rude and unhelpful, showing a lack of professionalism. It's clear that the management has no interest in maintaining a quality of gym.

Canceled my membership, without notification, after my credit card was stolen which caused my payment to not go through one time in 3 years (!) Went in to fix it a few days after I noticed and they asked me to sign a new contract that was more than $100 more expensive per month. Nah.

I mainly go here for the workout classes, because they are tough, high energy, and most of the instructors are awesome. My favorite instructors are Esteban, Iris, Precious, and Scotty!! I'm dying when I'm in their classes, but I feel great afterwards and I see results faster!

The worst equinox location, I’ve ever been to. It’s the same as a blink fitness. I reached out to the GM several times regarding the out of order machines, people constantly talking on their phones (FaceTiming in the women’s locker room) she has never responded. The staff is friendly, but it doesn’t make up for how crowded and somehow dejected this place is.

Best gym in San Francisco by far. I worked out at 24 hour fitness for years and finally stepped up to the better gym. Always friendly staff, impeccable cleanliness, people who are serious about fitness and staying in shape, state of the art equipment and facilities. The other negative reviews on here seem inaccurate. However it does become crowded during peak hours, but that is the case with any popular gym.
