Terrible experience. After they reopened they began to contact us in regards to reestablishing our membership. We agreed to try the gym out to see how the level of cleanliness was being handled due to covid. I went ONCE and a week later my account was charged close to $400. I called and demanded my money back. I spoke to someone who “sympathized” was “going to find out what happened”. Three weeks go by and multiple phone conversations later I look at my account and Bay Club Gateway has charged my account again. This time for over $400! I was livid! I managed to speak to Chelsea, not sure if she was the head of customer relations, but according to her there was nothing they could do about refunding my money. All they told me was they weren’t going to cancel my membership for two months. Apparently the company refuses refunds but gives you the opportunity to continue going to a gym that you want nothing to do with. I am still trying to get my money back. Do NOT waste your time with this company they will find a way to scam hundreds of dollars from your account.

This is a ticking time bomb for the next private equity owner. I used to love this place but the shared memberships have completely destroyed the experience. The current PE owner is clearly cutting costs, spiking revenue through unsustainable shared membership growth, which is making the member experience here decline rapidly. Everything from access / parking , how crowded it is , a worsening food experience, the declining service and facilities- it’s clearly being primed to look good on a financial statement but is going massively downhill from an experience perspective. Eventually growth will slow or hit a capacity ceiling, churn will occur, and they will lose their most important clients. Going down market like this was a bad overcorrection from COVID. Bay club should be the high end brand and experience in SF (and monetize as such), and it should have been an obvious strategic decision to go this direction and not the opposite

We have been members of the Bay Club in Southern California for a very long time! About 15 years. And we love it! San Diego Bay Club is the best! We are considering traveling more often to San Francisco. So, we visited today, San Francisco Bay club at about 7 am, after booking our spin class the day before. We walked there from our hotel, we were very excited. Once we got there, the guy at the reception area told us, NO! We were not welcome. We told him we were members and we wanted to check it out. And this young guy was so unwelcoming, didn’t even try to help us out , knowing we were visiting from out of town and long time bay club members. It was very disappointing. We were treated very unkindly to say the least.

This used to be a great club, now they make the membership increasingly complex, (I was told that I have a couples membership that they still have up on the website), now I am a primary and my partner is a shared member, they send bills to you that are incorrect, and when you try to contact them, you are forced into an email queue that says they will respond in 48 hours and they never do respond, EVER. I actually took a half day to go to the Bay Club in Redwood Shores and James Lent (Senior VP) stated he would take care of my membership request and none of that was done. I was carrying a balance from the Pandemic, (probably should of asked for that money back), and they kept sending me incorrect bills. I have called the office multiple times, Left Mr. Lent a few messages, and have yet to receive any communication except additional bills. I feel bad for the employees as it appears that this business will be a casualty of the pandemic soon, so my 2K initiation membership fees will soon go away with this once very nice club, not sure how this will end.

I joined in 2014 and the BC was great. Then it got bought by KKR and they purchased all the competition and now they’re exactly what you would expect from a gym owned by a blood sucking private equity company.

Bay Club San Francisco has been a nightmare to deal with since Covid hit. I moved out of SF in March 2020 and have requested cancellation for over a year now, yet I have continued to be charged every month since January 2021 because they completely ignore all of my emails and requests over the phone to cancel. I highly recommend a different gym if you don’t want to pay member services fees even after cancelling. My guess is their business took a hard hit during Covid, and now they are stealing money just to stay afloat. After working with multiple reps getting nowhere, I spoke with a supervisor there named Ray, who has now been ghosting my texts and calls for months. What a joke of an experience. 0 stars would be more appropriate.

BE AWARE OF ENTITLED OLD MEN TAKING YOUR GYM EQUIPMENT WHILE YOU’RE STILL USING IT. NOT A HEALTHY OR SAFE GYM ENVIRONMENT FOR WOMEN. (happened to my girlfriend 2/24/2023)

The women's locker room is filthy: clumps of hair lying around everywhere, used towels in the shower area, and trash (used toiletries) left in random areas. Compared to other gyms, Bay Club has done a great job maintaining an extensive class schedule even after the pandemic, but the locker rooms are almost always a mess. Someone please do something about this!

I did like the many options for work out rooms and different classes... I do recommend stepping up for better food options and to make some renovations

I really like being a member of the Bay Club but recently, this location has dwindled from the service of the past. The locker rooms, once cleaned consistently (an integral reason I became a member here instead of other competitor gyms), are pretty filthy with hair in the showers and floors, and broken lockers. The club is big with a lot of space to move about but you are going to spend a good amount of time trying to find a towel for your workout and wipes for your machine, as they are always out at the stations. The rooftop workout space is the selling factor to becoming a member - I really love to workout with those views. But recently, all the rooftop machines were non-operational (excuse was the recent rain, ummmm use the tarps sitting nearby?) and when a bunch of us inquired, the person who could push the reset button was out for 4 more days. Pretty ridiculous for the price you pay for this gym. 1 in 9 machines worked for over a week. Besides this, no one working really knows how to make any guest decisions. Water out at the desk? "Go upstairs to the cafe to see if they have any" (Cafe is closed). There are no towels in the locker room. "Walk around and see if you can find someone in there". There are no cleaning wipes in the room upstairs. "Walk around to the other stations and dismantle the holder. They get stuck." (I don't work here, you do!) My friends and I waste so much time trying to gather the correct equipment to have a safe, good workout its become cumbersome. Being a member and having access to the facility is great but this location really, truly lacks any sort of work ethic or understanding what their patrons pay for.

Well, well, well, look who finally made it to the Bay Club on Greenwich! Let me tell you, this place is fancy pants. The staff is so friendly, I felt like I was at a family reunion (minus the awkward hugs). And let's talk about clean, it's like they have a cleaning army that never sleeps. The indoor spaces are so large you could probably fit a small country in here. But, the real highlight is the yoga studio - it's amazing, although they could turn up the heat a bit, my toes were freezing! And don't even get me started on the two swimming pools, sauna, and steam room - it's like I died and went to fitness heaven. Now, I have to be honest, this place is definitely for the more conservative, stable, and wealthy crowd. It's like a city-based country club. And most of the members are older, so if you're looking for a hip, culturally relevant crowd, Equinox or Crunch might be more your scene. But if you can handle hanging with the mature, established set, and you go during off-peak hours, you'll have plenty of room to do your yoga and pump some iron without feeling crowded. And hey, the rooftop workout area is pretty sweet, and the cafe has Wi-Fi, so you can pretend to work while you actually just people-watch. All in all, I give the Bay Club on Greenwich gets 4 stars from me.

Everything from lack of equipment to disappointing customer service plagues this gym. Avoid it if you can.

Loved this club for a long time. However, after I stopped using it due to the pandemic they charged me 2 months and refused to refund or work anything out. They charge way too much to be so greedy with cancellations.

They incorrectly billed me for a group membership of 2 people when my friend had already cancelled his membership. They also charged me a late fee and still have not refunded me even after multiple emails and calls. If you care about not being scammed, stay away from here. Edit: After much work, they finally refunded me after I posted this. If you have any problems with billing, expect to be ignored until you leave a bad review.

I’ve been a member for 2 years and would not trade it for anything. The classes are great and staff is top notch. Andres, Edward, Chelsea, David, Raquel, Romina. Has a great energy and they are always maintaining the club. It’s not as new as Equinox, but the culture makes up for it.

Posh upscale facility that id describe as a "city country club" in feeling. Lotsa friendly bros.

Best gym I've ever had. I say this hesitantly as I don't want it to get more crowded ;) They have everything and the hours are great.

For what you pay the amenities are very average. management team is very unfriendly and unhelpful. Good gym if you like classes lot’s available but imo better gyms in the area with better amenities or pricing

If you want to work out in a gym and only do that then there’s probably better gyms in SF but the additional amenities are fantastic and really good value if you use them. Squash, swimming, tennis, basketball, sauna/steam, jacuzzi etc. Worth it if you want everything, not worth it if you’re just looking to lift weights. Not easy to talk to someone in charge but once you get through it’s been good enough communication.

Love working out here! The best classes, equipments, sauna, steam, jacuzzi, pool and coaches most of all. ❤️ Special shout-out to my favourite trainers Israel, Andres and David! Love the attention they give to all members and the motivation whenever we think of skipping a rep lol.

These people are thieves. It’s impossible to cancel your membership. They keep charging you. The GM Ray Manning will not respond to emails or calls.
