The first restaurant we have visited in San Francisco that didn’t have a working high chair option for our baby, so I managed to eat and hold him in one arm for the evening. We chose to dine at The Morris after researching restaurants with good food, a relaxed environment, and New American cuisine, and left feeling surprisingly underwhelmed by our experience. Luckily of all the dishes we tried - we enjoyed the duck the most, but preferred both Al’s Place and State Bird to here.

5-19-21: Came here for my birthday! Sat outside and felt 💯% safe. Staff did a great job of staying masked up. There were heat lamps which provided some warmth at night. Roast duck 🦆 was super delicious with nice crispy skin. Didn't taste very fatty! Tried the vegetarian pasta, fava beans and a mushroom puff. Would definitely come back again for more delicious food!

How have I never visited this jewel before?!? To start with the service was fantastic. From the moment we walked in every staff member was warm and welcoming and attentive to our needs. Our waitress, Camilla was great, and we had our cocktails within a few minutes of sitting down. Speaking of cocktails. Yes there is a $35 dollar Manhattan on the menu. Manhattans are my drink of choice. My girlfriend wondered if I was really going to spend $35 on a Manhattan. I figured they had to be pretty damn proud of it to charge $35. They should be proud of it. I've been perfecting my personal recipe for a few years (thanks to covid its gotten pretty damn good). This Manhattan was worth every penny. Do NOT skip it if you love a good Manhattan. We started with a small bit of Pate de Campagne and Pork Cracklins. Both were very good, but then we moved onto the Crudo and a gem salad featuring hazelnuts and bacon. My girlfriend loved her crudo so much she had to use a spoon to sip up the sauce. I was astonished how good the salad was. Just really sublime. On to the main. Camilla had let us know that the duck was what most people came here for. I'm not really a duck person, but I knew my Girlfriend wanted it so we decided to split a portion. OMG am I glad that we went with the duck. The crispy skin was amazingly perfect. The accompanying sauce was the perfect compliment to it. Just really sublime. Overall this is a fantastic place. I do not know how someplace like "O" garners a Micheline star and The Morris isn't even given notice. We've added The Morris to our list of repeat places. Only downside is that it isn't cheap and if you are on a budget you'll need to save it for special occasions.

Outstanding place. They have the best smoked duck in the city. The chartreuse slushy is definitely worth trying, and don't miss out on the duck liver mousse. Finally, you have to finish it off with some of their homemade donuts, they are outstanding.

Really phenomenal flavors with fresh seasonal vegetables, the dishes at The Morris will leave you fulfilled and satisfied. The smoked duck is obviously a highlight, but their veggies are not to be ignored! The atmosphere is relaxed, the staff are knowledgeable, the service was prompt and the attention to detail was there. I think this restaurant is certainly on-par with similarly priced inventive new-American restaurants in the area, and shouldn’t be skipped.

I tried the bread, duck hearts, crab dip, and asparagus. The bread was fantastic, crusty and bubbly. Duck hearts were very tasty and tender. The crab was good with big chunks and the asparagus was excellent. A little too cooked but the sauce made up for it. Great service.

From start to end, it was a memorable dinner. We started with the caviar which came with a lovely brioche and some condiments. We tried the pork cracklings and the duck heart skewers, super tasty. The mushroom profiteroles was a bit too heavy on the bread for my likes but my friend really enjoyed them. The heirloom tomatoes salad was super good. It came with a kind of a sauce that was incredible with the sourdough (probably one of the best sourdough breads I’ve had in San Francisco). The charred broccoli with squid was super tasty although I prefer if the squid came whole rather than in chunks. The pork belly was spectacular: it literally melted in your mouth and the skin was super crunchy. The beans and sauce were light and hearty... We washed the feast with a mezcal cocktail (Saint patron) and some doughnuts. It was a wonderful feast and I’ll be back (for a lighter dinner!) and try their charcuterie. I have to mention we had a table outdoors and they were very accommodating to make sure we weren’t cold. The set up is great and atmosphere was lovely. I gave only four stars to the service because they offered to taste the wine to the only man amongst us. They said it was because they thought he was the one ordering the wine. Even if that was the case, I appreciate if they asked the table instead of assuming is the man who chooses and tries the wine. They apologised, but I thought is worth mentioning.

Good food and nice setting. The reviews are all true! The food is very good and setting rather pleasant. Not super packed in like some other places where you feel like you are sitting on your neighbor's lap! The charcuterie plate was a highlight. The duck which everyone raves about good too. To be fair, couple items heavy on the salt, especially the avocado & shrimp over toast. Donuts to finish is the way to go!

The Morris never disappoints! Each dish is well thought out and delicious! Great drinks, salads and meats! And I dream of their gluten-free buckwheat donuts!

went for the seafood saturday sidewalk event, overall super fun vibes. uni, oysters and abalone were excellent, tostada was good, cod was a bit of a letdown. didn’t really get any attention from the servers.

Great cocktails, atmosphere and service. I found the burger to be tasty although a tad greasy. Duck was very good.

I came here for my birthday dinner and it was PERFECT. Everyone was friendly and warm, service was outstanding, and the vibe of the place itself was very cool and unique. Definitely check out the bathrooms! But of course the food was great as well - it was hard to choose what to order because I wanted to try so much, and all of their dishes were unique. We had the duck hearts, pork cracklins (omg so good!), broccolini with squid, and rock cod. The cocktails were also unique and delicious and I wish I could have tried them all. We had the donuts for dessert and they melted in my mouth - so good!!! I couldn't have had a better birthday.

When we sat down, the drinks took 30 minutes to get. Our dinner was good until we got the famous duck. The peppers, the crudo, the ling cod, the $9 one heart per skewer (2 in 1 order) and even the Rize bread with butter. Our entire table agreed that the duck was dry as cardboard (no exaggeration) and we saw no sign of our server to tell that to. So we ate it because we were hungry and felt bad that a duck had to die this way. We were so surprised that the chef even let the duck out of his pass. We had such high expectations of this duck. We are big on doing our part to keep local restaurants and businesses alive so we told the team in a very caring and helpful manner with absolutely no expectations. They brought us some donuts for dessert when we were finally fed up with waiting around and wanted to leave. The server did come and apologize that they had to tend to the front but their voice was so soft we could barely hear them. The actual host was helpful and did escalate upward for us. It wasn’t the host’s fault but they apologized and we felt their professionalism. But we had such high expectations — the service fell short when we needed them the most and the $80 cardboard half duck was disappointing. I just really wish we had ‘correct’ version the highly praised duck. It was the only we could smell on arrival.

Morris is a great place for inventive food cooked with utmost care and precision paired with a superb wine list and the most lovely staff one could imagine. Highly recommended!

The truffle tortellini is AMAZING! Ask for extra bread for the sauce($7). Pudding is rich and donuts are yummy. Steak with squash rings was also very good. Will definitely return. Pricey but worth it.

The smoked duck was incredible and so was everything else. Bib salad, cod with morels, duck hearts, some raw vegetable salad with a great ranch-like dressing, pozole, all very good but the duck was the star of the show.

Love this place and the proprietors, Paul and Vanessa! Their aged cocktails are delicious, so is the smoked duck (I order it out For most holidays!!), wine list is super strong, and their collection and passion for chartreuse is exceptional!

Everything we had was fantastic. Right down to the crudité. How good can raw vegetables be, right? Really damn good apparently. The rib eye was one of the best steaks I've had in years. The dashi with the cod was delicious. Their specialty, the smoked duck, incredible. And they were super helpful and accommodating with helping us navigate the extensive wine list. 3,400 bottles! (They had just taken inventory) Oh, and they have warmed blankets for those that get a little cold seated outside.

The service and the attention to details were the highlights of our visit here. The staff is extremely knowledgeable, attentive and friendly. The dining area is extremely clean and orderly; one of the best I've seen in SF. Food was excellent, we tried mushroom profiteroles, broccoli and squid, the duck and a couple of cocktails. The duck was good but could be a little bit crispier on the outside.

Great food and service. Enjoyed the cocktails, the house wine, and the signature duck dish. They can accommodate gluten free celiac options.

Great service, food and wine selection in a comfortable setting. Cocktails are very good and original. Especially loved the duck, charred brocolli and squid, duck liver mousse and halibut crudo. How nice to find an unpretentious restaurant where the quality of the food and service speaks for itself. Great price to quality ratio. Will definitely return.

Paul and Chef Gavin run my perfect idea of a neighborhood restaurant. ✅Consistent and delicious dishes that celebrate the bounty of California ✅House made charcuterie ✅a world class wine cellar and beverage program most 3 Michelin star restaurants would be envious of. ✅A wonderful front of house team that is warm, hospitable, and passionate about what they do What else could you possibly want?

The duck taste good, yet I think the price is too high.

We came for the duck, but then the charcuterie board, the wine, oh the butter and sourdough 💛, and the whole service was something else. Make a booking, you will not regret this

Nice restaurant with a great selection of wine. Too bad their dinner choices are limited and a bit high on the $. The food was all right, not as good as I had expected. We ordered half duck, pork chop and cod. All I tasted was the saltiness of the food. I added 1 star for the friendly staff.
