This the best place to visit and see the beautiful golden gate. Never ever miss this spot during your visit to San Francisco. Few highlights 1. You can park the car near the beach and just walk to beach. It has very spacious parking lot and absolutely free 2. You will get very beautiful photos with sea and golden gate in background 3. There will be less people so it will be calm spot

It was the first and only beach I've been to on the West Coast, and I was truly mesmerized! I had a really memorable time here by myself for a few hours. The weather was super nice, and I stayed until after the beach closed, which I didn't know was a thing coming from NJ. I got locked inside the gate and had to hop it to get to the car, fun times!

Beautiful place to enjoy the sunset if its not windy. Typical day when the temperature is about 60+ degrees Fahrenheit it is best to take a wonderful sun bath. Since the weather is seldom hot to enjoy the breeze and warm sun is amazing here.

Really nice Beach besides branches everywhere. Very nice view of golden gate πŸŒ‰ and very big waves. Allot of thieves in the around. So don't leave valuables in your car when you get here

A pretty fantastic spot to see the Golden Gate Bridge. The beach can be a bit cold and windy, but still a nice place to relax, enjoy the ocean, and get some nice views. You can even climb on some coastal rocks if you’re feeling adventurous. Don’t go doing anything stupid, though. Some areas of the rocks are dangerous.

Beautiful and nice beach with spectacular views of Golden Gate Bridge, Golden Gate, South Bay, Pacific Ocean, big ships, Marin Highlands, Hawk Hill, Battery 129, Meditation Point, Point Bonita Lighthouse, Slackers Hill, Battery Spencer. Rock climbing was fun but dangerous. The sunsets over Pacific Ocean are so pretty. Tourists who took the tour bus missed this great attraction.

Home of the original burning man!!! Great view!! Love this beach, however, parking is very limited!! The porta potties are , "NOT" maintained n have a disturbing smell as you walk 10ft. Within them!! These should be cleaned on an EVERY day basis!!

Another hidden gem in San Francisco. Parking is free which is always a bonus and the views of the Golden Bridge are amazing. Be careful climbing the rocks towards the end of the beach but if you can go up them you can get a closer view of the bridge. Stunning place and will defo go back when I have more time as I only had 20 minutes before having to head back to the airport.

It is a truly beautiful beach, especially at sunset. Spacious and long, it has plenty of space for everyone. Plenty of happy dogs whom is a pleasure to watch. The close proximity to the golden gate bridge is simply magnificent. From the downsides: could stubble upon dog poop, burned logs, garbage here and there, also finding parking could be a problem. This however did not destroy the positive impression of the place. I highly recommend it for visiting!

Took my Mom there and we had a nice walk on the beach with great scenery! Parking is next to the sand. So limited mobility access is easier. My last pic shows closeness of parking to actual beach access. No hills or paths to walk down. 50 feet of flat before beach access.

Nice beach with beautiful view's. Lots of old artillery looking equipment sitting around. Tagging everywhere, lots of tourist's hanging around. It get's very cold here so bring a coat. View's of the Golden Gate Bridge. Second time here and it definitely will not be my last.

Nice beach. Stunning golden gate bridge view from Baker beach. Car parking is difficult to find during weekend and limited parking spots. Always this beach crowded and most active beach. Restroom available near to parking lot.

Great beach for Golden Gate bridge views! Ample free parking and easy access. You can walk along the beach and/or hike amongst the bunkers. Connect to other trails nearby as well. Bathrooms are available and there is a spacious picnic area with tables.

Very nice and calm. We went there in the morning, almost no people. Was a nice walk from the beach up hill to Golden Gate view point. Better wear beach shoes.

We had a very low key experience at this beach on a chilly weekday morning. We had no trouble parking and enjoyed beautiful views of the bridge. Worth a visit!

A wonderful beach in every way. It's located adjacent to an old battery and right along the coastal trail, so you can walk out on the beach, walk along the paved trail, or explore the battery. The beach has families and individuals walking their dogs, and some folks surfing and bodyboarding. There are bathrooms adjacent to the parking lot, as well. The views of the Golden Gate are unparalleled! If you see the bridge from here and then cross it to Travis Marina on the other side, you will get the best views from both sides. One must beware of the high chance of vehicle break-ins and not leave anything of value in sight, but that's pretty much how most of SF is. It's still totally worth a visit to this beach and general area!

A great place to get a different vista point of the Golden Gate Bridge. A large beach popular with fishermen and walkers. Parking (free) and restrooms but do not leave valuables in your vehicle, signs everywhere tell you not to and I saw a car which had been broken into, so it is a problem here!! Nice place though that I have visited more than once.

In the many times I have been to California. I never knew a swimming location For. My first time in my life I got to swim about 500 meters or more in the Pacific Ocean! The temperature felt about 60 dagrees so i had to do 30 minutes of swimming, warm up then go back out! I total, I swam for two hours!

Great place to get away from the city, fairly easy access and parking mid-week. Wonderful views and scenery, and yes on really nice days some clothing optional sun bathers do surface by the bridge side of the beach, but on most typical SF marine layer days there is very little of that.

Beautiful Beach. Short walk from parking lot to beach. Get there early for good parking spot. On beautiful days, the lower parking lot fills up fast. It is a bit longer trek to the upper parking lot. Portapotties available at lower parking lot. Lovely beach. Excellent for walks. DOGS are welcome!! Bring your own food and drinks. There are no food vendors.

Situated in the beautiful Presidio, this is one of the best beaches to visit in San Francisco that has a little bit of everything: πŸŒ²πŸŒžβ›±οΈπŸŒπŸŒ‰πŸŒŠ scenic, picturesque views including the iconic Golden Gate Bridge in the background, sweeping Marin Headlands and the endless blue and glimmering Pacific Ocean. Sometimes the fog rolls in and gives it a dramatic, moody vibe. Watching the sunset here is just so beautiful. Parking is free, and public transportation goes by here as well. There is a restroom and picnic areas. It is a pet friendly beach. Please keep it clean and pack out what you bring in, don't litter. It's a perfect spot to hang out on the sand, get some sun, explore, relax and take pictures - it's a really popular spot for photoshoots actually. It can get a little packed on the weekends or during warm sunny days. Great for a nice long walk on the beach or scenic hike along the longer California Coastal or Batteries to Bluffs trails. Fun facts: - it was the original spot for Burning Man before they moved it to Nevada! - most Northern California beaches are chilly even in the summer, and are not really swimmable, but that hasn't stopped brave peeps - closer to the rocks on the left is an unofficial nude beach. If anyone wants to go commando, there's a space haha - not a fact but something to celebrate: on my mom's first visit with me in August, she took off her shoes and touched the sand and water for the first time in many years πŸ₯Ή this was a really sweet moment. It was a semi warm day with a gorgeous sunset and I'll never forget it. Hope this was helpful :)

Kinda tricky to get to without a car or bus but totally worth it for the views. You have to walk through a (fancy!) neighborhood that has multi million dollar houses. Super impressive and just imagine the views they have from their back yard. Totally worth taking a trip here though as it’s calm and clean and great views

Great views of the bridge. Sand can be a little rocky too. But the easy bus routes to baker makes it a great beach.

Beautiful beach, get there early for parking on sunny or hot days or walk a bit and enjoy the journey from one of the neighborhoods. Epic views of Sea Cliff and the Golden Gate Bridge and Marin Headlands on clear days.

I parked nearby and walked to the beach. It's kind of hot here without too many shadows, but it's a good place to see the Golden Gate Bridge.

I visited on a Friday morning and I had it almost all to myself. It was quiet and peaceful and the view was great. They have restrooms at the parking lot further in with a foot wash. I made the mistake of running to the portable toilets when I first arrived.

Iconic beach in San Francisco. It’s a popular spot to take a picture of the Golden Gate Bridge with a beach on the foreground. On hot sunny day it’s a popular spot to cool off and relax.

Hey, This is an awesome spot for sunset and golden gate views. This place is free to enter and have a restroom faculty which closes by 5:00. It has public parking which is also free and closes after sunset. Suggestions: 1. Get drinking water. 2. Beach Blanket. 3. A jacket. Thanks, Kaushik Nandula Follow me on instagram @kaushik_nandula

Cute beach for a nice view of the Golden Gate Bridge, if you’re in San Francisco and want a spot of sand this is a good go to. Didn’t have a hard time finding parking either.

  • 5/5 Matthew H. 2 years ago on Google
This is one of San Francisco's more popular local beaches, and it's easy to see why! The scenery is beautiful, with views of the Pacific and the Golden Gate, and the beach is large and spacious. There is beach-side parking, however it fills up quickly - especially on the weekends. There is street parking nearby, and it's not a terrible walk over to the beach. It's also a nice walk down from the Presidio if you're checking that out, and want to spend a little time on the beach. There is also a bus line that picks up and drops off passengers at the Parking Lot if you're using public transit. Baker Beach is great for some sunbathing on a bright day, but I especially love it in the evening. The sunsets are often spectacular from here, and the nearby Golden Gate Bridge always looks spectacular when lit up in the twilight.
