Tartine
is
a
great
place
to
visit
and
grab
brunch.
But
it
is
severely
overrated
for
the
food
it
provides.
The
bloating
of
the
ratings
comes
from
the
fact
that
it
is
such
a
hip,
cool
and
industrially
cozy
spot
to
have
a
good
time.
Also,
nothing
can
beat
fresh
bread
being
baked
right
behind.
But
overall,
if
it
wasn't
for
the
atmosphere,
it'd
probably
drop
close
to
3
stars.
First
of
all,
let's
talk
about
the
price.
$14
for
a
loaf
of
bread.
That
says
it
all.
Yes,
they
are
high
quality
bread.
But
pretty
much
triple
the
price
of
a
regular
loaf
so
it
better
be
mind-blowing,
which
it
isn't.
A
single
sausage
patty
for
$7.
Like
one.
We're
now
into
the
high-end
American
restaurant
price
range
without
the
decor
that
goes
around
to
enhance
a
particular
breakfast
dish.
Mushroom
soup
was
too
salty
and
sour.
Bread
pudding
was
too
eggy.
Warm
bread
with
butter
and
jam...
okay,
great.
But
$9.50
for
3
pieces
of
bread.
Are
you
kidding
me?
Coffee
was
great.
Medium
roast
without
the
acidity.
And
I'm
running
out
of
good
things
to
say.
Oh,
the
food
did
come
out
fast.
Perhaps
it
is
the
endless
line
that
forms
that
allows
Tartine
to
proceed
with
the
quality
of
food
they
provide.
And
perhaps
they
are
the
only
bakery-cafe
in
the
neighborhood
that
is
hip
enough
with
decent
quality.
But
this
place
is
far
from
a
Mademoiselle
Colette
or
Arsicault.
