Definitely go there earlier, especially on holidays, since there are not a lot of spots for BBQ in the area. Overall, beautiful nature

It’s a very nice area to picnic. It’s pretty popular. The tables are in the shade under big trees, so a bit cold. If you want sun you’ll have to sit in the grass. It can get a little busy as it’s very easy to get to, just off the side of the main road. No bathrooms nearby by. You’ll have to walk a bit to find a restroom.

This is a wonderful picnic area. It's in a nice quiet part of the park. It's rarely super busy and there are a lot of hiking trails that can be easily accessed. There are a couple of picnic tables and grills there for public use. You can reserve them through the GG Park website

I have to assume this is the spot we stopped at in Golden Gate Park. If you haven't been to the Park you really should make a point to visit. So much to see. People everywhere, lots of smiles. The parking can present a problem so be ready to walk a little (not a big deal!).

You can't complain about a nice spot to lay out a blanket and lay out on the grass!

A quiet trail winds around the lake and leads to several picturesque spots.

Saw picnic area on Google maps, wanted to do a quick lunch in Golden Gate park, but I am sure there are better places. There are tables. But not much for views. In a city this beautiful there are better places to be found.

I stop by here for lunch or just to reflect on nature in SF's equivalent of Central park. There's lots of birds, turtles and big fish!

Beautiful area with overgrown foliage. Great place for a picnic with the family.
