It was much fun walk around union square during Christmas which has beautiful buildings, Christmas decorations and cable car. Be watchful while walking on street. Enjoy your vacation.

So much fun, even in the rain! Early is better for a few less people but be prepared for crowds.

Too many ppl ice skating, the ice was chewed up. It was $20 for an hour but again, really crowded. $5 for a locker rental, but really $6.50 after their “fees”. Ice police (staff on the rink) did a good job telling you not to have a strap bag over your shoulder (like a Fanny pack) but did nothing about their being inebriated adults falling over people. No joke. Final straw, the young lady at the shoe counter who handled the lockers was a total <not nice person>. Very rude when the locker I chose didn’t work and I asked for another locker coin, she snapped and said something snarky “I told you the locker only opens 1x.” Whaaaaat! Hahah! For $26.50, it wasn’t worthwhile or a good value. The rink is tiny. Union Square also gets its fair share of SF after hours people, smoking this or that and acting super shady. Don’t come with high expectations!

Very crowded, full of beginners. I think it’s very dangerous since most people are at the stage of almost falling down all the time

Felt so disappointed please I promise you it's not worth the money they sell out to maximum capacity and the rink is already pretty small so when I went it was extremely crowded I could barely skate without someone bumping into me every 2 minutes. Felt so sad because I paid so much money for two tickets but wanted leave 5 mins into skating cause of huge crowd. : ( I will say the Christmas decorations around are really pretty but that's about it

The space is super cute, it’s kind of magical being downtown, but they sell the maximum amount of tickets possible which leads to a VERY crowded rink. You’re sort of forced to just keep moving in the same circle with the herd, and you’d better be pretty good at dodging people or stopping suddenly or you will collide. Shame, it has lots of potential but they just let wayyy too many people on the ice.

The rink gets a bit overcrowded. The ice rink is about half the size of a full skating rink. A great thing to do with family.

A great holiday activity to do as family or couples. The queue & crowd here can get really long. A fun activity in the city centre is always great. Parking can be quite a trouble. Need to buy tickets & locker space beforehand. The guys serving there are nice people. The Ice rink itself can get a bit crowded. They play good sings in the back. There are always helpers out there to help if you fall. A good one time activity for beginners or casual skaters.

Highly recommend for ice skating, however very long wait and uncomfortable skates. Also wildly expensive and always full. Nice for tourists though. Definitely recommend coming here once in a while as I do.

I registered my wife and myself online, parking underground underneath Union square is easy and cheap, but it is usually packed and you would be required to go down at least two floors. $20 per person includes the skates, and they give plenty of time to lace them up while you wait for the ice to be prepared. The day we went there were a lot of children, which seems to be the norm on Wednesdays and fridays, however it was a great time good music people were super courteous and overall the atmosphere was very festive.

We ordered our tickets online. There was no fuss upon entry. The skates were true to my shoe. Sthey kept the ice nice and smooth for a safe. Enjoyable skating experience. The atmosphere screamed, "Christmas is here!!!!! My friends, my family. And I really enjoyed the experience with the huge Christmas tree, the Macy's holiday window photo, backdrops, and music

It’s so beautiful and great place to bring the family too. It’s $15 for children and $20 for adults to use the ice ring, this includes the ice skating rental. With the Christmas tree in the background, makes a beautiful holiday family picture.

I recently had the pleasure of spending a delightful afternoon at the Holiday Ice Rink in Union Square, and I must say, it's easily one of the best winter activities in the Bay Area, whether you're a local or a visitor. From the moment we arrived, the experience was nothing short of exhilarating. One of the standout features of this winter wonderland is the reasonable pricing. At just $20 for an hour of icy fun, it's an affordable way to embrace the festive spirit. The payment process is also remarkably swift and modern – a simple scan of the code upon entry, and you're all set to book your preferred time slot. Once we stepped onto the ice, the real magic began. The rink itself is well-maintained, creating a smooth and enjoyable skating surface. Whether you're a seasoned skater or just finding your ice legs, the atmosphere is welcoming and inclusive. Families, friends, and solo skaters alike all seemed to be thoroughly enjoying themselves. What truly set this experience apart, though, was the exceptional staff. Not only were they friendly and approachable, but they were also incredibly helpful and cooperative. Whether it was offering a helping hand to a novice skater or ensuring the safety of everyone on the rink, their dedication was evident. It's clear that the staff at Holiday Ice Rink takes pride in creating a positive and enjoyable environment for all visitors. The festive ambiance of Union Square itself added an extra layer of charm to the experience. Surrounded by twinkling lights, cheerful decorations, and the buzz of the holiday season, it felt like stepping into a winter postcard. Overall, my visit to the Holiday Ice Rink was a memorable and joyous experience. It's an ideal activity for anyone seeking a taste of winter magic in the heart of San Francisco. The combination of reasonable pricing, efficient service, and a fantastic staff makes it a standout destination for winter fun. I highly recommend it to locals looking for a seasonal escape and visitors hoping to add a touch of Bay Area winter magic to their itinerary.

Too crowded and charge 9 years and older as adults! $20 plus $5 taxes and fees for an extremely crowded ice skating experience. Other than that customer service was very good and it’s a magical setting.

Great vibe and area. They do sell way too many tickets for the size of rink though, so it gets way too crowded. I suppose I’m just spoiled by Oakland Ice Center’s full size rink.

Better cleaning and disinfecting the skates.

Expensive for an hour of time but it was perfect for us. We rented a locker which fit a backpack easily and then just left our shoes under the benches as we saw others doing. Skates seemed good qualify (not an avid skater but from my opinion) and they allow you to rent a skating aid for little kids which really made it an amazing time for our 4 year old.

Fun holiday ice-skating rink to enjoy with friends and loved ones under the Christmas tree and Christmas palms! Sometimes can get a little crowded on the rink

The rink is small and you can’t bring bags on the ice so you have to buy a locker. Vibes are great. Christmas spirit is 10/10.

Very small ice rink. About 1/4 size of the regular indoor ones. And it’s fully packed with 40+ people inside. Worst rink I’ve been to. Would not recommend

The skating time went from 90 minutes to 60 minutes from years previous. We brought our own skates and there was no discount for not using their skates. They wouldn’t even give us a token for locker for not using their skates. Have been skating here for over 12 years I felt they didn’t limit ticket sales this year. I have never seen the rink so crowded that it was difficult to skate around so many people, and I know how to skate as I have been skating for over 55 years. The line of people holding the wall skating was so backed up. If you held onto the wall if one person stopped the whole line stopped.

It is very festive and full of holiday decorations. Ice rink is well organized. Workers are helpful. Kids had great time although it was pretty crowded. It is a fun place for kids to go during the winter break.

Super fun for a reasonable price. Kinda busy, as you would expect, but this late in the season it's an awesome view for a way to kill an hour in an atypical way. Also a good quad workout! 😂

We went on a rainy day and it was so much better than I thought. The ice was well kept and the drizzle of rain made it a little more exciting! The penguin/polar bear skate helpers were also worth the rental fee and the ice skates were pretty comfy. Overall we had a blast ice skating!
