Great service. Went with a party of 4 and ordered many different dishes. All were excellent. Have been before and it exceeded my expectations. Even had a Gordon Getty siting.

My group walked in to grab dinner before going to the orchestra. The restaurant was almost entirely full, and it sounded like it had a long reservation list. The hostess asked if we’d be willing to sit at the bar with all the tables being taken, we didn’t mind. It wasn’t a long wait from there, and it wasn’t super loud. My companions’ shared the bass, and I got the steak and mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were super smooth, and the steak was so easy to cut. I got the “Raspberry Beret” to drink, it wasn’t super strong, sweet, or sour. My companion liked the red wine they had, and thought the bass was a bit salty. I saw the waitresses writing anniversary and birthday cards (presumably for guests) next to us at the counter. They seem to be up for celebration acknowledgments. The bartender served us complimentary Vermouth shots after dinner. They were spiced, yet tasteful. Overall, a nice and accommodating restaurant with a hefty price tag.

I walked past here many times and thought what a beautiful restaurant. The dining experience definitely live up to its appearance. Très bien atmosphere, food, and service. I showed up on a weeknight for a bar seating for two. It was pretty easy and quick. I sat at the bar and Jorge took great care of me. The oysters were terrific: the mignonette and the horseradish were on point! I like that steamed mussels were fresh and didn’t have a dirt like taste. It is served with bread instead of fries. The fried chicken à l’Anglaise was thinly breaded so all the elements on it complimented each other very well and was not overpowering one another.

Been to this restaurant several times now and each visit has not disappointed! In fact the experience has just kept giving. The food is amazing and the staff’s attention to detail is 1st class. So if you live in SF or are just visiting, MB is a must on your dine out list for sure ! Can’t wait to go back !!

Food and service are excellent. Easy to reserve online and our table was ready once we arrived. Beautiful decor and open kitchen concept. The food is pricey but worth it. We got the bone marrow, sea trout, duck, and ribeye. Waiter was attentive with refilling waters and putting in additional drink orders.

Delicious French spot. Loved it! Kind staff and amazing food. The seafood platter (plateau) was incredible. So was the duck confit🧑‍🍳 Went for my partners birthday and would definitely go back.

This is a very nice French restaurant in Hayes Valley. It's very tastefully decorated and the service is excellent. Although the menu may not seem large there is enough variety to satisfy most diners. The food can be rich but it's definitely delicious. Ironically it is on the same block as another French restaurant that is nowhere near as good. If you are at Hayes and Gough skip the place on the corner and walk up the block to Monsieur Benjamin.

We had dinner here tonight before going to the opera and it was a really good experience. The service was good and the food was excellent. I ordered the duck leg confit and my husband ordered the steak frites. My duck was cooked perfectly and tasted so good. I really enjoyed it. I would definitely go back for that again.

It was a real bummer to spend $200 on a mediocre meal that primarily tasted like parsley (both the lobster and steak). The potato leak croquettes were good, but the $64 lobster smelled fishy and had minimal meat on it. I was excited for a quality meal, but did not have one. My friend enjoyed her cocktail, at least.

We had a wonderful dining experience in Monsieur Benjamin. All the staffs are nice & attentive. We tried many appetizers without main dish & everything taste super yummy. Few things from our recommendation Crab Rillette Sea Scallop Steak Tartare Chicken Liver ( so smooth) Croquette We had lunch and it's almost full so reservation might be the best. 20% charge is already included. Overall it's a 5 stars experiences.

A standard French Bistro in a modern setting. The escargot is textbook perfect. The baked brie with orange mustard confit was a great contrast that came together amazingly. The chicken liver pate was deep in flavor, going beyond umami and fattiness. Mains were alright. The steak frite from hanger steak was alright. The pork chop on the other hand was on the lighter end to denote the porky flavor, and overall quite tender. Prices are definitely on the higher end for what you get.

Excellent food for 4 of us ~ $83 pp. This is more of a dining experience (small expensive and tasty dishes with great service) rather than a bite before a show so recommend going 2.5 hours before curtain. Update May 2023: Excellent. Super sorbet. Pricey. Sept. 2023: Still excellent food.

not the best french restaurant in the city, and the tables were a bit close together which meant i kept getting bumped by the waiter and other people. that said, vibes are good, wine and dessert were my favorite parts of the meal.

The service was good; friendly and attentive staff. Our appetizers (sea scallops, bone marrow, and oysters) were tasty but not memorable. Our entrees (short ribs, steak frites, and duck) were fantastic - nothing left on our plates. We also enjoyed the chocolate souffle dessert with banana ice cream. The coffee was perfect. My bill for 3 people was $400.

Went to Monsieur Benjamin last weekend for my birthday dinner and has a wonderful experience. We called to make a reservation and to ask if they still had lobster. After arriving we were told that they were out of lobster. I was annoyed but our server recommended the second best thing and my husband and I decided to share the branzino. They also send out some delicious shrimp to make the birthday girl happy! Everything was delicious and the service was great!

Excellent food and impeccable service. They have a semi-open kitchen, and it was a pleasure to watch them work. Like a well-oiled machine: every move is efficient and has a purpose. Highly recommend.

Great experience overall. French vibes with an american twist. The fish and souffle dessert both tasted delicious. We were happy with the service at our table and the wine suggestions from our waitress/sommelier. I would happily return to Monsieur Benjamin again to have the same dish.

Dining experience was great - friendly staff, quick service and modern but romantic ambiance. Although the food was good, it wasn’t amazing. Had app, main and dessert. Cocktails did tickle the taste buds. Docked one star because for the price, wife and I would rather eat elsewhere.

Excellent French bistro experience anytime you're attending a playing at Davies Symphony. Their tartare and bone marrow are excellent starters. I'd also recommend getting another side of bread as the one provided with the bone marrow is toasted as to not get soggy from the marrow. One thing to note regarding their entrees is that the sauces are absolutely on point. The peppercorn jus is an excellent addition to any dish. We had it through appetizers and entrees and it just simply works. The porkchop was a cut of Duroc, exceedingly tender and supple to the bite. We went on a Friday night and it seemed opening hours still had tables open for walk-ins, but it got notably busy by 6:30PM.

First-time visit post pandemic and the experience did not disappoint.y preference is to sit at the bar where you can see all and interact with the wonderful staff. When other establishments struggle to get to pre pandemic service levels, this place has remained consistent a highly recommend status. Come alone or bring the parents (make them pay).

Had brunch here with a group, dining in. Good food, good service, above average prices, large portions. Had the fried chicken a l’anglaise, which is apparently some delicious stuffed chicken thing. Chicken had good texture throughout, taste, and was supplemented by the gruyere and ham. Food was tasty, would come again, though would also liked more menu options and perhaps smaller portions at lower prices.

One of the best place that we’ve been to. The food was so good that I still can taste it in my mouth. Everything from the butter and bread, escargot, oysters, steak, frites, endive and blue cheese salad, the signature cocktails, custard pastry, ice cream and the service were top notch and spectacular.

Please come here. It is so worth it!! I loved every dish here (except the deviled eggs but im not a fan of this dish period). You need to really clear your mind before biting into their bread and butter because THAT BUTTER IS GONNA MAKE U GO WILD! I even asked to bring some back! The french onion soup was the best i ever had too and i found their croquettes to be perfection in a ball! To top it off, i paired my meal with a sweet glass of merlot and syrah that made the night that much more wonderful!

No gluten free alternatives left me no options except a $44 steak with fries for lunch. The steak, while cooked well, lacked flavor and could’ve been saved had it just had a bit of rock salt or garlic butter or rosemary as a garnish. The chef could have complimented the steak with 3 sticks of asparagus and mashed potatoes and it would’ve been classier and tastier than a mountain of fries. And the fries were average. The staff was kind, which lead me to leave 2 stars instead of one. Overall, a lackluster experience. I will not return.
