I really love a good afternoon tea and the experience I had at The Rotunda absolutely exceeded my expectations. I was able to book a reservation for Afternoon Tea for one on OpenTable on the morning of. Traveling solo and dining alone can kind of be intimidating, but I was determined to not let that prevent me from trying new things. When I got to the Rotunda, the hostess wasn't super welcoming to me until I mentioned I had made a reservation. This tells me that they must get busy so I would highly recommend making a reservation. Once seated I was greeted by my wonderful server. He made me feel so welcome and comfortable dining by myself. I ordered the Afternoon Tea Service and upgraded to get a glass of champagne with it. Everything was delicious and I just enjoyed my time soaking it in in the beautiful ambience. Just such a nice way to spend a peaceful afternoon. The best part of my experience was my server. At one point he came over and offered to take a picture of me. As a non-photogenic solo traveler, I rarely get quality pictures of myself at the places I visit. I was so appreciative and he took the most amazing pictures of me. He really went above and beyond, and I regret not getting his name to add to this review. If I am back in San Francisco, I will definitely be visiting again. This is a must stop destination for me!

My hubby and I met up for a weekday lunch date. I've always loved this place with the view of Union Square and the lovely stained glass ceiling, not to mention the luxury designer brand clothing and accessories just steps away from the restaurant. We both ordered the lobster club sandwich and some champagne. Everything was delicious. Who knew lobster and bacon went together so well? The service was great also. It's a lovely spot you simply must try

Recommend having a reservation as they tend to be busy. Vaccination is required here and they check it at check in. Staff is very polite and professional and checks on you often. Food came out in some time, I would not say fast. You are served water of your choice and chicken broth followed by "bread" before food comes out. Food tasted great and was served at the right temperature. Same goes for soup and coffee. They have a kids menu also.

An SF lunch institution. The pop-overs are not quite as great as they used to be, but the service is strong and the overall experience is unfailingly chic. Get the burger of one of the massive salads.

We had the Afternoon Tea at Rotunda last week. I'd recommend making a reservation ahead of time, especially to get the seats by the window overlooking Union Square. The afternoon tea set is $54 per person, so it's not inexpensive. But the atmosphere, settings, service and the food make it all worth it. The popover with strawberry butter is as good as everyone says it is. It's a good combination of savory and sweet delights. We easily spent an hour and half enjoying the service, the food and the ambient. It was quite an experience and a perfect way to spent an Friday afternoon.

We went for the Tea Service and for two people we paid $138 (20% gratuity included). I have two comments for the people running the place (some will say I'm too picky but it is what it is): table cloth were not properly ironed, is like their ironed while it was folded. The food was nice and we enjoyed it but why would you repeat lemon curd and a little lemon pie. It was a much better idea to have another salty thing for the base of the tea service (just a thought). Also it wouldn't hurt to have a couple of more tea options? They only had Earl Grey, Chamomile and Mint (a 4th one I don't remember).

Beautiful view of Union square. Place is tight maybe dangerous for kids. Don’t bring kids. Food is great! But definitely over priced!! But I guess you’re really paying for the view. Service is okay. A bit snobby but they did a work job done. Overall, only do it for social media flex. Kidding special events. Ps, chair wobbly for a high elevated tea place.

Elegant, good quality high tea at Neiman Marcus. Good variety of sandwiches, sweets and scones. Plenty of food to fill you up. 4 or 5 choices of teas to choose from. Great views of union square. A tad on the slow side on service but pretty friendly staff. Price is righ on with other high teas. The only thing that bothered my is that they automatically add 20 percent tip to your ticket. Overall, a good high tea experience.

Booked 3-4 weeks in advance for afternoon tea. Good view and place. Service was good but slow. Lot of food offered but again, nothing exceptional.

My friend and I owed the staffs there a big time. I have wanted to come here but as a tourist we don't want to be restricted by time. So we didn't make any reservation until we walked pass it and thought we would give our luck a try. It was around 1130am and we arrived at the reception. Guess what, they had a table. And when I asked if we can sit close to the beautiful ceiling, they were so nice to sit us there. I was so happy and everyone there was so nice. The food from coffee to meal were done with attention to details. You may not able to see it from pictures but you'll know when you are having it. This place is a must-try!

My first time at the Rotunda was disappointing, despite my great desire for it to be amazing. The service was subpar. Three separate waiters switched back and forth to attend to my table. I first wanted the afternoon tea and the waiter said he would ask but never came back. The second waiter took my order and then a third waiter helped me with my check (because the second waiter was nowhere to be seen). The service was also incredibly slow. I had to wait 20 minutes to get the check. I had the lobster bisque, which is essentially a sandwich accompanied by a salad. The salad was only greens, nothing else. Would not recommend for taste nor for the price point. The only compelling reason for me to come back is the beautiful view. The Rotunda could have easily been one of my favourites but alas.

We came here for Sunday Brunch. The food was fantastic, especially the Lobster Club sandwich and the Dungeness crab sandwich. Nice view, friendly staff, but the service was slow. It took 15 minutes to get our check after we were done eating.

The Rotunda is one of my favorite places to enjoy afternoon tea for the quality and quantity of food as well as for the ambiance with the glass ceiling and views of Union Square. If you want to enjoy afternoon tea during the holidays, a reservation via OpenTable is a must (ask for a table by the window). We were looking a couple months in advance and all weekends in December were already booked so we opted for a Friday reservation. Sadly their usual tree wasn't up this year though the tree of lights still looked nice. Highly recommend the Jardin Bleu and Nuit à Versailles teas. They start you off with a complimentary bisque and their famous popovers with strawberry butter (delicious!). The 3 tiered tea came with 4 sandwiches, 2 scones, and 5 desserts per person. I always appreciate that they provide one of each item so that you don't have to decide who gets what or how to split certain foods. Will definitely be back!

We had lunch here a few days ago! I grew up in SF and must have walked by here thousands of ti e and new realized there was a restaurant up on the Norman Marcus! I was reading their review and saw the lobster club and was very excited to try it! It was a bit heavy but very good! My wife had the Cesar salad with shrimp! I forgot to tell the waiter light on the dressing and would have preferred the shrimp to be grilled! Excellent view but I felt the seating area was a bit tight! I would prefer not to be so close to other tables on my left and right! Overall the food is decent! Prices wasn’t too outrageous! Pepper & Morris

A day well spent!! Celebrating a friend’s birthday with a little shopping in the heart of San Francisco! The Rotunda is definitely a must visit for a quiet afternoon tea with friends! Friendly & attentive staffs. Food could be better. Love the ambience of this cafe!!

Rotunda is just the restaurant you’d expect from a Neiman Marcus. So nice in here! The Christmas decor made it festive. The food was delicious. Everything was clean. Service was good. They were kind enough to accommodate a large party last minute with a short 15-minute wait. I definitely recommend making a reservation. One half star downside is that there was always a line for the women’s washroom. It gets busy here and there’s only 3 stalls that serve the whole restaurant. I went twice and the wait was 15-20 minutes each.

An absolutely beautiful place to have a brunch. Everything was delicious especially the Tuna Tartare and truffle fries. The Dungeness Crab melt was absolutely exceptional as well. Will definitely come back.

Everything was delicious! Amazing service and very friendly staff. We went here for a late lunch while we were in the onion square area.. we were lucky enough to get a reservation last min.. We seated immediately in a table by the window. The only thing i did not like about the seating was the tables were places very close together and we had really loud neighbors..

My cousin and I wanted to celebrate our birthdays together and we decided on afternoon tea at the Rotunda. I made the reservation online about 3 weeks in advance. Super easy and seamless. We got there 10 minutes early and waited til our reservation at 2PM. Great service plus we both got our own mini cakes after the tea. Would love to bring my parents next time.

What a beautiful place to enjoy your afternoon~ They offer afternoon tea with the option to supplement brut if you’re in a mood for some fizzy. Everything tasted great: except for perhaps the petite blueberry cheesecake. We especially enjoyed the smoked salmon with caviar and the cucumber sandwich - wish there were more of those! Adding celery to chicken salad filling in the croissant was also genius~ the refreshing crunch helped to elevate your appetite halfway through the meal. Scones were a bit tough but for American fast paced large scale restaurant afternoon tea, I shan’t complain. They still tasted great!! The teas were also amazing!! We got the most popular choices which were the green tea that has amazing tropical fruity notes, and the black tea that is earthy, medium strength with great lingering finish. I’d say tho the complementary popovers definitely need a bit of work… I was expecting texture and flavours to match a Yorkshire pudding - since they are basically the same thing - but Rotunda’s lack flavour, it felt like eating cardboard. Nonetheless, we will be returning to this beautiful establishment! What a treat!!

I had a lovely “date” with my best friend for high tea here as a birthday treat! I loved the ambience. The place was full, but allowed us the space to catch each other up on life! I loved my Jardin Bleu tea(berry flavored). The staff were very nice to accommodate my vegetarian dietary preferences (I’d recommend giving them a head’s up, though). I liked my simple sandwiches - a nice balance of veggies and herbs. I liked the sweet treats too, however the taste of distinct flavors was dulled due to the sweetness at some point. I’d recommend the high tea here for the experience of it!! 😊

The Rotunda is an experience! We went here for  birthday lunch, and were in awe of the elegant interiors. The stained glass dome along with golden embellishments on tall white pillers, makes this place perfect to celebrate special occasions. I requested to be seated at a window while making reservations, and it was duly noted by the staff. Our view overlooking Union Square on a chilly rainy afternoon (we love trains) set the tone for a perfect intimate romantic celebration. They served soup of the day and the fluffiest cloud-like bread I've ever had, a must try indeed. For starters, we split the Cesar salad with shrimps, good quantity and good taste. For main course we had the striped bass and grilled chicken. The bass was very good; the combo of peas and asparagus, lightly soaked in their special sauce, added to the taste of the fish. The chicken was ok, slightly dry, but the adornments it was served with made up for the dryness. Our server was very polite and attentive to our requests and selections. We will certainly be going back here for their elegant afternoon tea spread.

A lunch in The Rotunda Restaurant under the dome of Nieman Marcus San Francisco is a real delight. My friend and I were not particularly hungry so soup and the restaurant's terrific popovers satisfied us. The wait staff was terrific and the atmosphere is charming.

I had a wonderful experience! My wife took me here for dinner on Valentine’s Day weekend. We had a reservation and our waiter went above and beyond. We will definitely be back here with our children. Travis who was our waiter was amazing and took care of us until the end. I hope to have him as our waiter the next time we visit!
